Despite speculations that President Maithripala Sirisena would be removed from the party leadership, the President tightened his grip on the party yesterday by obtaining a court order to prevent the Central Committee from meeting without his approval.
Colombo District Court issued a restraining order against the convening of the Central Committee of the SLFP without the permission of the head of the party.
The move was against the Party Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa’s attempt to convene a Central Committee meeting on Wednesday night at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute to discuss about President Sirisena’s special statement on Tuesday. Yapa said over one third of the SLFP Central Committee members requested him to convene a meeting to discuss about the matter.
Meanwhile, four new electorate organizers of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party received their letters of appointment from President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday.
According to the announcement made by the President’s Media Division, Nirupama Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Chief SLFP organiser for the Mulkirigala Electorate; Victor Anthony Perera for the post of Chief SLFP Organiser of the Puttalam Electorate; Thilak Waragoda as the Chief SLFP organiser for the Kelaniya Electorate and R.P.Thusitha Kularatne as the Chief SLFP Organiser for the Bulathsinhala Electorate.
None of the new electorate organizers appointed by Sirisena are supporters of former President Rajapaksa.

Since so many dirty tricks were played on the president by the two
secretaries of SLFP/UPFA in an attempt to bring MR as PM by nominating
him through the national list as a fresh candidate , unlawfully, and without the knowledge of the president of the parties and the country and the people, no one will find fault if the president enters the election fray to support the break aways of SLFP using UNP as the base
and MS should step in to lead them as SLFP(S)as a coalition party as before the dissolution of the parliament.
It is time he takes a strong stance in view of the underhand work
done by his own party men to topple him and the govt. and he should
pay back in the same coin. He will, once again get the full support of
the people who want good governance. Firmness is what is required from the president, even if he has to break some rules.

I am extremely disappointing with the president! He should have sorted the bond issue by appointing a credible investigating group in the Bond Scam as the transaction is not above board (he also confirms)! He should have also not allowed MR to contest under UPFA if he is the head of UPFA and wants UPFA to win. If you are the head then you should be leading from the front not pulling from behind! He does not have a backbone as he is scared of Ranil & MR both. What we expect in yahapalanaya is for him to step in when ever someone does something wrong and bring justice to society! That would be a president who loves the country!!!

Until China’s stock market is 100% stable ,Sri lanka needs to worry ,,
it would really matter a lot to look at other connections around the world to move the Country forward ,and never again to put all our eggs in one basket .
If China’s share market does not stabilize , we may be in very big trouble .
India does not have the kind of liquidity or resources to fill the vacuum we will face .

In view of the invasion of GAYs in Sri Lanka politics, as a voter, I like to know in advance the policy of all major parties, including the stand of President, on legalising or otherwise of same sex marriages in Lanka. This is vital since the new fashion is to blindly follow USA, which recently leagalised it in USA.
Last thing I want is for my son or Daughter to tell me that they married same sex partners, which is the end of our culture and values.

In lanka politics, all voters need to ask all parties to have democratic party constitutions where leader’s perpetual dictator ship is thrown away. Those NGO fellows will never talk about this since they are aligned to different parties. Election law should be amended that unless a party has a democratic constitution it should not qualify to be registered as political party in Lanka.
I think democracy need to start from each political paty’s inner democracy. If there is no democracy in side a political party how can they guarantee democracy to country when they come to power.
I recall this when I see a leader who lost 29 times still in power, a leader who go to courts to stop his own party to have its CC meeting and another leader who got defeated come back as the boss suddenly.
