Sirisena’s “My-three-pala-naya” (CBK, Ranil, And Himself) Has No Future

By H. L. D. Mahindapala

H. L. D. Mahindapala

H. L. D. Mahindapala

The politics of Maithripala Sirisena is bizarre, to say the least. He leaves the Rajapaksa regime because he was not given the premiership and his answer to his own problem is to abolish the presidency and appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister, empowered with executive powers of the presidency.

Where does this leave Sirisena? At the end of 100 days, when he  hopes to complete his demolition job, he will be left with nothing — neither the Presidency nor the Premiership. When he finishes his job of abolishing the Presidency and handing over executive power to Wickremesinghe (within 100 days, he says!) he will be creating only a “My-three-pala-naya” of Wickremesinghe, CBK and himself, the non-entity in the troika. In the current context it is difficult to find three more monumental losers than this trio.

Sirisena’s “My-three-pala-naya” indicates that he is a follower and not a leader. He has neither the  vision  nor the capacity to provide a viable alternative which would and should be  a refined/reformed status quo. Who else but a naïve political puppet would fall for a plan which will cut off the branch he holds and the destroy the branch on which he proposes to stand? (Al-lapu ath-thath naha, paya gahapu ath-thath naha.) What is going  to be his place in the hierarchy of the proposed  “My-three-pala-naya”?

Those with eyes to see will agree that there isn’t a greater folly than getting trapped in the doomed politics of Ranil-Chandrika combo. They plotted in 2010 to pick Sarath Fonseka – a good General fallen among fools – to pit him against Mahinda Rajapaksa. Reason: these two failures knew that they had no chance of winning against Mahinda. So they picked Fonseka who had Buddhist and nationalist credentials to contest Mahinda. Everyone knows the results.

MaithripalaNow this combo is back again recycling their vindictive politics to get even with Mahinda. Having made use of Fonseka they dumped him like a hot potato because he is no longer marketable as a winner. So they baited Sirisena promising money to finance his campaign, cross-overs to demoralize the government, organizational support in the electorates and the backing of a motley of odd-bods, including TNA’s Sampanthan and JHU. (TamilNet (24/11) reported that CBK had secret talks to cut a deal with Sampanthan.)

Of course, TNA and JHU are strange bed-fellows. They make the bizarre politics of “My-3-pala-naya” weird and unworkable. To begin with, if JHU is preparing to go to bed with TNA in the “My-three-pala-naya” then they must be having a perverse craving to get some masochistic kicks out  of sleeping with porcupines. Not wanting  to face the TNA they might want to sleep with their backs turned to the TNA. But that is where the pricks will hit them. Bringing in Sampanthan – and it will be only on secret deals with TNA – will definitely take the nation back to the failed CBK-Ranil politics again.

More importantly, the anti-national actions of Wickremesinghe and Chandrika point  to the fact that they have been the best conduits of the West. So when Sirisena aligns himself with these anti-national forces, who have sold the nation down the river, he is signaling that he will reverse the post-Nandikadal gains and go back to the time when Erik Solheim and Prabhakaran dictated terms to the beleaguered nation. In his “My-three-pala-naya” he not only plans to commit hara-kiri but also push Prabhakaran’s cyanide pill down the throat of the nation.

Of course, he is due to announce the details of his plans sooner or later – all of which will be proposed, drafted and written by CBK and Ranil. He will be merely the mouth-piece selected to parrot the words fed to him by CBK and Ranil for the simple reason that he has never shown the leadership qualities of thinking on his own two feet. He is no visionary leader who can carve out a new path to the future. So far he has shown only signs of going back to the failed past.

However, his qualities can be tested on the way he propose to deal with the following issues:

1.      What will be his stand on the 13 Amendment?

2.      Will he go with Ranil and CBK plan of implementing 13+ sponsored by India and the West?

3.      Will he agree to withdraw the forces from the North to satisfy the demands of TNA in exchange for their votes?

4.      At a time when USA continues to increases its global bases – 900 and counting – will he cut down the naval bases in the north to appease TNA?

5.      Will he introduce cuts into the forces defending the territorial integrity and security of the nation?

6.      Will he give in to the land policy of TNA to keep the north and the east exclusively for the Tamils, which may even include issuing visas under a revised P-TOMS plan of Chandrika?

7.      After the Harvard University awarded him a Health Leadership Award has Michele Sisson used him as the head of the secret anti-national leadership campaign backed by the other two pro-American losers?

8.      Does his “My-three-pala-naya” include throwing principles of law and order into the dustbin in order to protect his son Gamaralage Daham the next time he runs amok in a drunken rage, assaulting even  Police officers appointed by the state to maintain law order and even sons of senior police officers?

9.      Will he care to develop a new education program in geography to teach his new political partners in the UNP the difference and the distance between Medawachchiya – his political patch — and Killinochchiya?

10.      Since he claims to be the man who plans to introduce purity into the administration will he begin by investigating the $300 million given to Ravi Karunanayake by the pro-Tiger billionaire in USA, Rajaratnam now serving a jail term in USA for insider trading?

11.      Will Sirisena, under the influence of his main backers, CBK and Ranil, initiate a policy of deviating from the independent foreign policy of Mahinda Rajapaksa and go with CBK’s French connections and Ranil’s IDU dominated by anti-Sri Lankan David Cameron?

12.      What place will be left open for him in the post-election phase in which he proposes to abolish the presidency and appoint the well-known failed leader in Sri Lankan history to run the country?

13.      How does he propose to implement the promises he is giving the voters when he has already promised to hand over executive power to the biggest political flop in Sri Lankan history?

14.      How does he propose to protect  the territorial integrity when he hands over his executive powers to the man who sold the nation to Prabhakaran?

15.      Will he revive the P (pacha)-TO”N”S plans to hand over the North and the East for ten years for the Koti pups in the TNA to run the two regions with the compliments of his two main backers, CBK and Wickremesinghe?

16.      Considering the anti- national political  players behind Sirisena isn’t he the next biggest threat to the unity, national identity and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka?

These are only a few selected questions that he must answer when he goes before the nation to get the votes. Many more are bound  to be raised once he reveals the details of his manifesto. These preliminary questions reveal that not only the Gamarala under his roof but even his political associates, like CBK and Wickremesinghe, are a serious threat to the future of the nation that is now settled on a course, with all its faults, heading towards a future, with a clearly defined path to progress, national identity, national security, territorial integrity.

Sirisena’s proposed “My-three-pala-naya” presents a serious threat to the future of the nation. If executive powers are handed over to Wickremesinghe there is no guarantee that he will not move  heaven and earth to reverse the gains achieved by the Security Forces. He has intransigently pursued an anti-Sri Lankan policy, kow-towing to David Cameron and the West. His ambition is  to gain a place in history by rewriting and reversing the history achieved by the self-sacrificing forces that fought Prabhakaran and  his best buddy, Wickremesinghe, to the bitter end. Wickremesinghe and his henchaiyas haven’t yet apologized to the nation for ridiculing our heroic forces and selling the nation to Prabhakaran.

Clearly, in the coming election one of the key questions that the nation will face is this : did our heroic soldiers who were ridiculed by the UNP sacrifice their lives for Wickremesinghe to undo their achievements and hand over the territory liberated by them to the enemies of the nation?

Sirisena is on record saying that he will hand  over his executive powers to Wickremesinghe. How can Sirisena then control him and prevent the nation from being hijacked and taken back to the time when Wickremesinghe handed over the north and the east on a plate to Prabhakaran? Wickremesinghe is led by David Cameron and not by Sirisena. Wickremesinghe will have no compunction in giving Sirisena the karapincha treatment. He will drop Sirisena like the way Chandrika dropped him, when he was bending into two before Bush in the White House.

But where will the Machiavellian manipulations at the top leave the people at the grass roots on the ground?

Mr Maithripala Sirisena is a honorable man. I trust him and believe what he told us about Rajapaksha from 2005 to 2014 November and will vote accordingly.

      1. MaRa , Mara Shills and Whitewashes are quite active these days, because their days are numbered, and they will find that their Emperor has no-clothes.

2.. The Shills and White-washers at Lankaweb, Like Mahindapala, Sinali Shill Waduge, and the Commentators like Lorenzo, and the many aliases and Avtars, are panicking. The Mara ship is sinking and the rats are looking for a safe place to hang on to.

3.. The Shills and White-washers at Lankaweb, Like Mahindapala, Sinali Shill Waduge, and the Commentators like Lorenzo, and the many aliases and Avtars, are PARAS. Para-Sinhala and Para=Tamils. They came from South India. Their IQ is close to that of India, 79 vs.81.

Check your DNA and that of South Indians.

On 8th September, 2010 Anura Dissanayaka of the JVP said in Parliament that even Mr. Basil Rajapaksa would be ill-treated due to the 18th amendment adopted to get more power for the executive President.

He said serious crises would develop in the government in 2014 and it would politically harm not only Ministers such as John Seneviratna, Maithripala Sirisena, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Rajitha Senaratna but also their children.

    1. What will be his stand on the 13 Amendment?

No more than MaRa has done.

    2. Will he go with Ranil and CBK plan of implementing 13+ sponsored by India and the West?

MaRa is with LTTE KP and 13+ already.

    3. Will he agree to withdraw the forces from the North to satisfy the demands of TNA in exchange for their votes?

No need. MaRa already has withdrawn all the army from the north.

    4. At a time when USA continues to increases its global bases – 900 and counting – will he cut down the naval bases in the north to appease TNA?

No need. MaRa already has withdrawn all the navy from the north. MaRa’s brothers are USA citizens!!

    5. Will he introduce cuts into the forces defending the territorial integrity and security of the nation?

No need. MaRa already has cut down the army.

    6. Will he give in to the land policy of TNA to keep the north and the east exclusively for the Tamils, which may even include issuing visas under a revised P-TOMS plan of Chandrika?

MaRa continues with Thesawalami law so need to change.

    7. After the Harvard University awarded him a Health Leadership Award has Michele Sisson used him as the head of the secret anti-national leadership campaign backed by the other two pro-American losers?

After he became Commonwealth Chief MaRa can’t even go to see the queen despite his 12 attempts to see at least her poodle.

    8. Does his “My-three-pala-naya” include throwing principles of law and order into the dustbin in order to protect his son Gamaralage Daham the next time he runs amok in a drunken rage, assaulting even Police officers appointed by the state to maintain law order and even sons of senior police officers?

No more than Namal who ran over a man in his Nissan GTX and killed him in 2012.

    9. Will he care to develop a new education program in geography to teach his new political partners in the UNP the difference and the distance between Medawachchiya – his political patch — and Killinochchiya?

There are more places than that HLDM.

    10. Since he claims to be the man who plans to introduce purity into the administration will he begin by investigating the $300 million given to Ravi Karunanayake by the pro-Tiger billionaire in USA, Rajaratnam now serving a jail term in USA for insider trading?

MaRa received much more from LTTE KP. He prefers the gold though.

Current foreign policy is slapping Nonis by a drunkard MP. It needs to change to a civilized policy.

    12. What place will be left open for him in the post-election phase in which he proposes to abolish the presidency and appoint the well-known failed leader in Sri Lankan history to run the country?

A minister in the all powerful parliament.

    13. How does he propose to implement the promises he is giving the voters when he has already promised to hand over executive power to the biggest political flop in Sri Lankan history?

Didn’t MaRa promise a BRIGHT FUTURE for a BLEAK FUTURE?

    14. How does he propose to protect the territorial integrity when he hands over his executive powers to the man who sold the nation to Prabhakaran?

    You mean the Tsunami thief?

    15. Will he revive the P (pacha)-TO”N”S plans to hand over the North and the East for ten years for the Koti pups in the TNA to run the two regions with the compliments of his two main backers, CBK and Wickremesinghe?

KP the kotiya is with MaRa so he will be unable to do it!

    16. Considering the anti- national political players behind Sirisena isn’t he the next biggest threat to the unity, national identity and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka?

What is there to protect in SL after MaRa, BaRa, GoRa, ChaRa, NaRa, YoRa, RoRa, PaRa, HoRa, NiRa, SaRa, etc. have ruined the country.

I love how Sri Lankans’ mindset is so warped that any man who does the right thing and actually goes in the opposite to gaining power is regarded as weak, an oddity, a fool etc. Mr. Mahindapala, I don’t know who you are, and I haven’t seen your articles in any media (hence my first thought when i saw this hadline- “ah all the naysayers are crawling out now”), but people like you, who see humility and the desire to do something right as weakness, is the reason why Sri Lanka is where it is now.

As for the 13A, if the sole argument you and your kind have against it is the fact that it was sponsored by foreign states, then please, do us a favor an stop talking. I don’t care who sponsored it or came up with it if it means my children can live in a country that doesn’t discriminate, and doesn’t teach hatred as a philosophy in the guise of warped Buddhism that the Buddha would’ve been disgusted to see.

    Lovely!

Mahindapala sees a lot of short-comings with Maithri, CBK, RW, JHU & TNA etc.

However, he sees no problems what so ever with self-appointed, sickeningly power-hungry, corrupt, King for Life.

Was wondering who’s puppet Mahandapala is. It is now becoming clearer.

    Cheers!

CT: Thank you for bringing Mr. Mahindapala to this forum. Welcome Mr. Mahindapala. All this while you were confined to one forum and it is very heartening to find you reaching out into the world of Democracy and into a wider space.

So, Thiru, let us welcome here.

Mr. Mahindapala would never have received counter opinion or replies to his 16 questions elsewhere other than through CT; very explicitly and concisely given by “Patriot with Humanity”. This is what we need and crave for; a wide discussion in a very democratic way; meeting divergent opinion; open discussion to explore what is best for the society.

I would like to deal with the first question, i.e. “What is your stand on 13th Amendment? You were and are even of today with that 13th and “PLUS” along side Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse. If by “chance” this “My-three-pala-naya” says “No more than MaRa has done” ( as appearing in the reply by Patriot with Humanity) what is your “STAND”? Are you going to support him and withdraw from MR? Can you, now that you have raised this question, let the readers know WHAT IS YOUR STAND ON 13th? Have you changed from the original position and now looking for new avenues to creep into a position? OR

Are you also confronted with the main question that the voters in Sri Lanka are asking today: DO WE NEED TO OR NOT TO CHANGE THIS PRESENT STATE OF AFFAIRS IN THE COUNTRY? For your information that is the main question that the voters in Sri Lanka are questioning themselves. With more and more “information” being thrown into the public domain, I believe, both the candidates will have an up hill task of “answering” and “providing solutions” if any one of them is going to get the task of governing in the years to come. Ultimately, it will be PEOPLE who will decide who is to be TRUSTED for future governing of the country.

PS : I read similar questions paused to Maithiri in another Web posted by Shenali. Waduge.

    H L D MahAnna Babo B(P )ala,

It is obvious that you want the current regime to continue by overwhelming win and at any cost.
You have started mud slinging at the common candidate and his team. If you are talking about reverting back from 18th to 17 th ammendment and the relative merits that is different.

H L D you should go to Polanaruwa together with Shenali Waduge on 30 th Nov and have a counter rally or go to Maithiripala Srisena’s campaign meeting and ask all these questions. Ordinary people there will answer you on behalf of their Maithiri.

Going there will prove both Shenali and you are real patriots of SL and not hypos. Now you are talking like the Python or Snake Oil sellers at Pola s.

Since 1948 minority bashing or communal or supremacist way is the best way to win election SL. This time too it is not going to be different..

H L D and Shenali started to go shamelessly on that below the belt communal “MERRY GO ROUND “
Singing “Onna Babo Goney Billo ( TNA / LTTE ) enawa.”

I was at Polonnaruwa & Manampitiya in May 2014. Common people I met there abused entire sirisena family for being very corrupt, fraudulent and for miss use of power. They put the blame on MR for letting sirisena brothers intimidate other businessmen. Sirisena family are known thugs who terrorize rice mill operators in all parts of the country and there was no law and order in Polonnaruwa district with Dudley Sirisena terrorizing police and people of polonnaruwa.

As your name says, Mahinda- pala is in fact is a subservient stooge of Mahendra Percy Rajapksa. The best response to simpletons and the oxygen thieves nurtured and fed by the corrupt and nepotistic regime of Mahinda Rajapksa is no response. But the following should be said before we completely ignore your juvenile comments. It is none other than your master who gave LTTE $200 million in 2005 to prevent Tamil people from voting so that he could secure his election victory. But it is with that much wanted injection of funds at that time did LTTE continue to butcher innocent civilians, clergy, children and Sri Lankan army for further four years. It is none other than your master who provided a false diplomatic passport to the LTTE butcher Karuna. Your masters did not stop their acts of treason there they continue to shelter KP – the main LTTE arms procurer, wanted by Interpol and Karuna – heinous LTTE terrorist who masterminded recruiting child soldiers, bombing of the temple of tooth relic and also hacking to death 59 Buddhist monks and novices as well. He also massacred 300 police officers who surrendered. What will happen to these Terrorist butchers if the treacherous king gets re-elected would KP be in Charge of the East and KP in the North?

The Common Candidate is not coming to solve all the problems in the county. His sole task is to prepare the constitution amendment in 100 days to abolish the Executive Presidency. He may appoint a national government after his victory to run the government.

The rest would be decided after the 100 days by the political parties who joined to form the national government. The Common Candidate must not a power hungry person. He should be ready to hand over the executive powers to the PM and Cabinet to be elected by the people when we created a new democratic space.

So Mahindapala must ask the questions submitted in his article from his Master who is going to keep the power of the Executive Presidency in his hand until 2022 by denying the voting right of hundred thousands of young voters coming to the voting list in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

If MS has no chance, and if he is hopeless as a presidential candidate, then why is it that Mahinda-Pala is wasting so much of his next to precious time writing screeds of articles to websites and news journals condemning MS? There is no need for that at all. But he does write, as this one, as if MS is a force to contend with, who with a bit of luck might topple Mahinda-Pala’s paymaster off his pedestal. Right? Is n’t that what you are scared of Pala? Be honest now!

Even the Almighty cannot help those who choose to be blind. In this case you PT are one of those. Being married to a Tamil does not mean that you are not a rabid racist who takes deep pleasure out of humiliation inflicted on Muslim, Tamil and Christian minorities.

Pearl, you have said HLD is an “honest” journalist. Please try honestly to ponder the meaning of the word honesty. Then ask yourself whether HLD is honest – even to himself, about what he writes. Start with the 16 questions he has posed.

I am reminded of what Dudley Senanayake told Maithripala Senanayake, who was also married to a Tamil ( Ranji Handy) during an exchange in parliament, ” Sinhala only during the day and reasonable use of Tamil at night”.

Several Sinhalese who are married to Tamils or have Tamil relatives, including Mahinda Rajapakse, proclaim this aspect, to show that they are free of the communal bug!

JRJ had Muslim relatives and so did SWRD with his Christian background so i agree with others that being married to a Tamil or Muslim does not make one less of a racist

While Pearl is thankful for her job in Lakehouse given by HLDM,im not amused as HLDM wrote downright lies when he was in Lakehouse and continues to do so he has also tried to scuttle or belittle anyone who is a moderate

he is nothing but a mercenary

    PT,

I admire your loyalty to HLDM, for loyalty is a wonderful quality, and I am glad to find someone with nice things to say of him. A couple of his erstwhile journalist colleagues whom I have met have been less charitable – far less charitable – than you, in what they had to say.

As Solon has said, being married to a Tamil does not necessarily prove that you are not a racist. Nor can you necessarily attribute increased sales of the Observer during HLDM’s stint as Editor to his work in that role. It could very well have been the result of the efforts of the Sales people. Not so long ago, one of the Murdoch newspapers in London (perhaps, The Sun) also saw its sales increase substantially, and the credit for that was not attributed to the efforts of the Editor but to the introduction of pictures of scantily dressed young women, on page 3!

As for your comment that HLDM ‘did not suffer fools gladly’, that’s not such a smart thing to say, as might at first seem. Let me recall an anecdote I read recently. The late Robert Menzies, the former Australian PM, had once dismissively told someone, ‘I do not suffer fools gladly’ only to have the man reply, ‘It might be news to you to know that bloody fools have a lot of trouble putting up with you too’

As for HLDM’s integrity as a journalist, the readers are the best judges. As for me, the record does not impress.

The commentators are commenting without the insider knowledge. The hacks who hoisted their legs on the table and hoped for inspirations instead of seeking news by getting their arses off the chairs and venturing out. Their intellect and dreaminess would not bring news while they put both their legs on the desk and dreamed of ideas.

Rajpal Abeynaike belongs to this category.

    HLD called them pouffes.

He brooked no nonsense. He hated armchair dreamers such as Rajpal Abeynaike; a lazy bum.
For his pushiing journos to do some legwork and bring news he was reviled.

HLD was a journalist who drove his journos to bring news no matter how.

    Pearl Thevanayagam,

You started this comment thread by proclaiming “HLD has not a racist bone in his body. He is married to a Tamil”. We readers of HLDM and other journalists generally are not privy to how he or other journalists behave in the bedroom. Are you PT?

So we confine our comments to what he writes in newspapers and websites. A reasonable conclusion is that he is promoting in his writings a privileged position in our “Democratic Socialist” society for the Sinhala Buddhist – thereby qualifying himself as a RACIST.

Your statement “Sometimes passionate towards Sinhala cause” is clearly an admission that he is a racist, and what you offer as mitigation, that he could not be bought with cheque books, is no defence at all; nor is the (hyperbolic) claim that his editorship of the The Observer “pushed up its sales to immeasurable heights”.

Neither your initial comment, nor the responses that followed were about the skill or quality of HLDM as a journalist. What you have done is to give him a character certificate, including to call him arrogant (“he did not suffer fools gladly”).

Your last comment, casts doubt on your own skill as a good journalist, (you imply you are one), firstly the ability to read and understand, secondly to write to the point, and thirdly whether you possess the integrity required of a journalist to remain relevant without deviation, referring to Rajpal Abeynaike as a “lazy bum” (to my great regret this may look like a defence of that scum bag – sorry readers!).

Have you heard of the adage “Think before you leap”?

Is it just me or does this Mahinda pala character looks dodgy? Like he is hiding some dark secret? I am surprised CT has actually given space for this joker.
