SLFP Can’t Get Rid Of Me That Easily: Mahinda Rajapaksa

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared that even though some were trying to chase him out of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), they will not be able to get rid of him that easily.

Maithri Mahinda August 2, 2015Speaking to reporters on Thursday soon after giving his statement to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC), Rajapaksa in response to reporters who asked if he was part of a new party said, “I am in a party, and that is the SLFP, even though they are trying to chase me, they won’t be able to get rid of me that easily.”

He however said that according to the demands made by the public, it is obvious that there is a need for a new party. “Now there is no opposition even in Parliament, because everyone is with the government, so even if people have their grievances there is no one to speak about these in parliament,” he added.

Rajapaksa also went on to claim that there was no democracy in the country anymore. “If a monk speaks against them, he will be arrested, if the people take to the streets demanding for jobs then they are tear gassed, people are dragged out of their homes in the name of development. During our administration such things never happened,” he added. (By Munza Mushtaq © CT)

Mithri/Ranil reigme came in to power on January 8th 2015. They have 5 years more. Before even 6months elapsed the rajavassas and henchemen started to topple the elected legitimate regime through various unsuccessful methods. And they are still trying. Decent Civilized citizens of this country should leave the current regime to fullfill thier promises and support encourage to establish law and order democracy tarnished international image during last previous rajavassas regime. Punish who have not abide by law even in this regime if there was a person who has done any illegal thing they should punish them too. Eg RAJITHA SENARATHNA everyone know this guy took kappam when he was the minister in previous regime.

what does he (MR) want actually ?

Either go to retirement or be honest and work hard for the future can help the people. Else, to stand on the way- to take revenge- draging the nation along with his sinking can not help anyone.

      You may be very right.

With lankens becomeing somewhat informative through internet – numbers that would raise the questions – based on WHY become more… so it will not be easy leaders of the MR kind to rise again. Basta.

See, the fact is majority voters are coming from rural corners of the country. How many of them woudl have the least idea about federalism or the kind of definitions that are very familiar in Europe today. Would Europeans ever feel that Federalism could lead to dividing a country ? Never… so I think it is high time, good hearted journos to do the job to the top – turning the dumb masses educated about anything that could help for the future of lanka. Meaning not bringing articles that could divide torn people further, but more of awarness ones packing with facts and examples.

School masters, university profs, other academics that have healthy thoughts can do the job together with regligious leaders – latter is imperative than anything else. THat should be a living process feeding their mind sets with healthy and factful materials.

      Mr MR,

like or not if you behave the way you have been now – nothing can stop you will get marginalized.

War victory was good thing that occured during your terms – but that must not be the licence you, your kith and kin, thugs to abuse and the nation further.

Lies and ones based lies will not survive foreever.

Good thing would be you to go retirement – choice is not given unfortuantley, since the heaps of high profile cases being investigated to convict you seems growing day to other.
This is why our granny told me once THINK BEFORE LEAP- can always guide you my grand son.

Now – you should need to sense it – else, you will have to regret more than you feel now.

Does this guy have Alzeimers? What pathological liar. Did have democracy when he was the president, people didnt have freedom, even htough I come from middle class family we did nt have enough to buy proper food cuz we had to pay high prices for our electric bill, rajavassas and its whole family harrased intimidated killed anyone who spoke against them. Some were jailed under stupid reasons which were nartificially created to take grudges.tear gas and other things are carried out by rajavassa henchmen to create instabilty to the yahapalanaya. You think police forces there aint any of rajavassa henchmen?BS!

No – he just prevaricate as his bastard son Wimal Weerawanse continues.

Prevarication is the main feature whatever statements he makes.
I have never seen Prez Sirisena adds anything without proper thinking. His speeches are focused in many facets. He would not go on attacking any other personalities either. That is the greater difference between these too leaders.
Former s vocabulary is targeted to outreach masses by any means. That made him populastic among uneducated masses in the country. Lankens of the majority just enjoy what they get to read – that is their nature. They would not question – due to lack of balanced views or general knowwledge. I have the problems convincing many whenver I meet in my holiday season back in home place – average TEACHERs or the like professionals have no sound knowledge on day today issues. Asked why, they would just support thoughts of their colleagues but not getting them right.

    What a Gentleman!
Yes the content needs a new party and an emperor in new clothes. To put the wrong done by his previous avatar right. our politicians think people have selective amnesia just like him.

Well who killed protesters asking for their EPF/ETF not to be privatized. Who killed people that took to the streets asking for cleaning drinking water, who killed and made journalists disappear. Who set that mad monk to run amok.

One thing for sure you cannot lead and no arty as your stamens clearly states you have very selective memories and going senile.

When you have done everything to keep yourself completely out of politics there is no need for anyone to chase you out of the SLFP.

  • 15
    4

“I am in a party, and that is the SLFP, even though they are trying to chase me, they won’t be able to get rid of me that easily.”

Well, if you are determined to kill the party forever like this, Ranil Wickramasinghe would certainly appreciate that.

“according to the demands made by the public, it is obvious that there is a need for a new party”

Rathern than making the empty threat,if you dare, start a party. As they say in English, ‘Put Up or Shut Up’.

Now there is no opposition even in Parliament, because everyone is with the government, so even if people have their grievances there is no one to speak about these in parliament”

Have you ever spoken about these people in the parliament? Why the hell did you become an MP? Why can’t YOU speak about them in the parliament?

“if the people take to the streets demanding for jobs then they are tear gassed, people are dragged out of their homes in the name of development. During our administration such things never happened”

    Buaa haa haa haa!!

This guy thinks the Sri Lankan people are damned fools. Well, he has a reason to believe because that many people voted for him in the last election.

What happened in Rathupaswala? Listen to the shots and scream of people. They wanted water that they could drink. They were not tear gassed, but SHOT to death. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGh-CCUOHY

What happened in Katunayake Free Trade Zone? Police attacked a peaceful protest against so-called pension scheme for the private sector workers in Sri Lanka. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvGdg8QmDb8

What happened during the beautification of Colombo (not development, JUST beautification)? The military controlled Urban Development Authority was undertaking forced evictions, the modalities of which are similar to those employed in the North and East of Sri Lanka. The forced evictions in Colombo as part of a development project only served to hide the enormous social, public and human costs. http://www.cpalanka.org/forced-evictions-in-colombo-the-ugly-price-of-beautification/

Which planet are you living in Percy Rajapakse? In simple terms, you are not only a liar but also a fool, who thinks people could be taken for a ride forever!!!

Sadly, you have followers, not just in rural Sri Lanka, but here. Shame on you, and of course, THEM.

Jarapakse says ” During our administration such things never happened,”

No? Much worse “things happened”, but this man has no shame, which is why he behaves as if he is a saint when he himself confessed that he was “the known devil”!

So, according to him, his rightful place should be in Hell.

      Ananda

“So, according to him, his rightful place should be in Hell.”

You are being cruel to him.

He won the unwinnable war, remember.

He has earned his right to be the ruler for life.

You ought to be grateful to him forever.

The other important issue is that he won majority of the Sinhala/Buddhist votes unlike the president and Ranil, whose vote came from the minorities, which Dayan considers do not matter.

      • 1

Native, sometimes it takes “being cruel to be kind”, as the old saying goes!!

In any event, I was just quoting the man and extending his ‘logic’!

Mr.Discarded President, now you are showing unmistakable signs of senile dementia! In your `good old days` some people were driven to the other world in white vans . Some journalists were butchered and some others simply disappeared. You made one son a lawyer and another a navy officer though the back door! And your third son,the bloody astronaut! Have you so easily forgotten how you dispersed protest rallies .. Rathupaswala etc? And how you and your vampire family sucked the blood of the whole nation while boasting of your love for the motherland!

The evils around him failed him.

He will come back to power and put everything right without fail.

He is a man of vision and mission. He has done so much for Sri Lanka.

His burgundy shawl must change to pink colour and it will make all the difference for him.

Burgundy is seen as thick blood and he must abandoned. Pink is passivity and in the changing SL it will have big bearing. Females will flock after him.

It is better to call him Pinky Mahinda than Bloody Mahinda,

He still wandering around and implant rubbish in many and try to disturb the present government.

When you carefully listen to his statements and gossip, you feel really feel sorry for him because he has no any fact to present because he feels guilty for many crimes.

He lost his power in advance because he listened to his stupid astrologer and he blindly intoxicated with power.

The problem is he has been in a crisis not being able to differentiate the revolution he has been facing to this day. He never thought – peoples power would stand against him since always believed that he was the made king following so called his magic powers liberated srilanka… these were however their interpretations – but those who know are well aware of the facts that Rajapkashe media units painted the picutre in that way way so that vulnerable masses would stay stupid and blind forever .. then only they would be able to stay in power. Very same vulnerable, at least greater portions of them have now become go against him… is not thinkable to the MR et al, since they have no intelligence to get it. You cant make the very same nation continously fool…. in the internet world by today.

Smashing coconut and believing astrologers almost killed him and the batch, but further to stuck on to th every same agenda can even profit the rulers in their great efforts brining the country into a right respecting state. That is the reason why the western world together with america back Srilanka led by MY 3 AND RW today as nobody on the MR side even guessed at.

I thought many countries, US/India/China/Pakistan/Russia included, gave military and financial support. Until then VP was screwing the balls of the Sinhalese. I call that bullying. Not in the case of your unlce, Mahinda mama, who as much admitted that he won the war with India’s support. During an interview, Karuna admitted that that some of the army assets were managed by the Indians.

VP should have known Vattukkottai resolution was dead on arrival. The struggle was lost when he ordered the massacre of unarmed civilians in Anuradhapura on 14 May 1985 in order to please the Hindians. It was downward slope until May 2009.

I don’t intend to bore you to death by taking you on a historical journey from May 1985 to May 2009.

Remember VP won a war and two elections for MR, a great help that I hope MR is eternally grateful to him.

          • 1

            Native Vedda:

The Ceasefire Agreement between the SL regime and the LTTE, the 10-year “self-rule” offer by Chandrika (although VP rejected it) disputes your contention on the Vattukkottai resolution (VR). VP brought the SL regime to its knees once. As I have pointed out in my earlier comment, it is utter bullying by so many countries, with major powers to boot, that defeated the LTTE. It was not the VR effect but Bush’s major push on “terrorism” after 09/11 that catapulted the drive against VP. India simply jumped on the bandwagon to exact revenge for the Rajiv Gandhi murder.

Your pretense seem to absolve a regime that had been raping, murdering and maiming Tamils since 1956. What would you do if your own wife, daughter or sister faces such heinous acts but are helpless because the law fails them? One of such responses was the Anuradhapura incident. The vindictive burning of the Jaffna Library by the regime itself is more than sufficient to evoke the fire in the Tamils. Just as then that you people preferred to see the acts of one side that protracted this war. There are two sides to a coin. You are talking as if the lives and dignity do not matter and wish to be a hero commenting from the sidelines forgetting what the Tamils had to endure. For that you can share your crap with the Sinhalese.

“Remember VP won a war and two elections for MR, a great help that I hope MR is eternally grateful to him.”

I thought of you as a better fool. As if you are ignorant of the system that has prevailed in SL and which the Tamils have been resisting. This is a system that is akin to “damn if you do, damn if you don’t”. The Tamils voted for Sarath Fonseka, that is, against Rajapakse but how did that change the fate of Tamils?

Forming a party is easy but getting votes is another matter. For example, a certain field Marshall rejected by the people somehow made it to the parliament recently. Politics is inherently flawed. Some of the commentators in here seem to be perfect though and a few of them deserve to be in parliament for their constructive selfless candid comments that will surely help develop Sri Lanka. Sure why not , these days one does not have to have a peoples mandate to be in Parliament.

Might I comment that every citizen has a right to start his or her own party.

Why MaRa is scared to leave SLFP ?
Is it because he wants to groom his son Namal as a future President or a Prime Minister with the help of his family members and the joint opposition members using SLFP brand.
