SLFP Central Committee To Take Action Against Hooting JO MPs

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Central Committee will take disciplinary action against the Joint Opposition MPs who took part in the Pada Yathra, and who also hooted at the SLFP Headquarters on August 1.

SLFP General Secretary and Minister Duminda Dissanayake has termed the hooting act by some of the Joint Opposition MPs as ‘disgraceful.’

The Central Committee will decide on the disciplinary action against the Joint Opposition MPs when they meet next. Action will be taken against the MPs for defying orders by the SLFP and taking part in the protest march, as well as for hooting at the SLFP Headquarters at Darley Road, Colombo 2.

Although the Joint Opposition MPs sit in Parliament as a separate group, they hold the membership of the SLFP.

Yes throw the criminals out of the SLFP and UNP let them stand together so the nation can disown the lot of them. Even some Colombo UNP municipal council minsters are singing praise to MR these days. Both SLFP and UNP should look out for such snakes.

Pardon my ignorance but I don’t live in SL anymore & not always abreast with SL politics, even though I take an interest in the welfare of the country of my birth.

I am confused, so let me get this straight. The current President, who subsequently became the leader of SLFP, came forward as a common candidate with the support of the UNP, to defeat the reigning President of the same party. In doing so, a coalition SLFP/UNP Govt was formed, in which the Prime Minister is from the UNP. If I remember correctly, sometime in the past, another political party by the name of UPFA was formed within the SLFP. Now I am not sure if this party is still active & who is who in which party but am I correct in saying that there are members of the same party in the Govt. as well as in the opposition?

Then comes the question, is it normal in a civilized & ethical society for the members of the same party to sit on the Govt. side & on the opposition as well? I thought it was obvious in such a society, that those who oppose the party policy or don’t toe the party line should leave with dignity or be sacked from the party. So in this case, those who have been identified as going against the Govt., in which the party leader is the head, & behaved in typical yob fashion publicly at the party HQ (normal behavior which they are used to in such circumstances) where even the party secretary has commented as disgraceful, have given enough reasons to be expelled, not ‘disciplined’, which implies a mild sort of punishment. It’s time the President showed leadership & cracked the whip to get his party members in line, after all, he is the boss now or isn’t he?

Raj, you are 100% correct. Unfortunately, it is not the ‘Serendip or ‘Ceylon’ that we all were born and adored.

Sri Lankan politicians have this nasty trait of ‘Running with the hare and hunting with the hounds’. The unusual thing is that this kind of behaviour is tolerated by everyone in the political arena. The main reason for this tolerance is that nearly all of the Sri Lankan politicians belong to this ilk so that they cannot put their foot down on this nonsense.

Amazing what Yahapalanaya does to former Kudu addicts who hung around the Anuradhapura Bus-station and was doing nothing other than wasting money his Daddy made. WOW Yahapalanaya has made these school dropouts with zero intellect into powerful personalities. Everyone knows who hung out at A’pura high on drugs and even now on some days his eyes are bloodshot and he speaks crap.

Mr. Secretary: Before you take action against those who hooted at the SLFP Headquarters, please listen to the speech of MR at the final day of the Paada Yathra. His last words are very ominous and deserves closer scrutiny. Here what he said: “This Paada Yathra is only a rehearsal. We are preparing for the next one. That one will not to come only; but to take back. Are you prepared for it? If you are prepared, we are also prepared”. What those words mean to you? Please do not talk BS and waste your time until the disaster strikes you and the party. Are you and the party prepared to take action on those words that instigate the people to a “revolt” against the Government? Isn’t he (MR) a member of your party? Leave aside all others who joined him. What about him and others who are members of the SLFP who joined in this “chorus”. He also mentioned of the Police Officers and the Army personnel who are remanded and defended them as “innocents” of criminal actions. That directly refers to all those Law Enforcement Officers in custody in relation to MURDER of Thajudeen, Lasantha and Ekneligoda. He also (MR) referred to imprisonment of Buddhist priests, signaling the arrest of Rev. Uduwe Dhammaloka over the “Baby Elephant” case. What do you think of those references. Are you allowing this man to hold a “Peoples’ Court” and proclaim them innocent? I tell you again, stop talking BS and get down to do some sensible and fruitful work to show the people that you mean business and to uphold the Law and Order of this country. As it is, you and your party stalwarts have mixed up your priorities and completely lost track of the political developments of the country. It is certain to receive a thundering slap in the very near future, if these are not corrected in good time.

You have given the essence in very concise manner. It looks to me as if these guys are sleeping. If not taken any action against MR for promoting people to revolt against the govt. it will be a BIG MISTAKE. What these fraudsters are trying now, is to get back to power by any illegal manner to cover up their illegal activities during their regime.

It looks this minister’s Rs. one billion scandal is anthoer Central Bank Bond Scandle but this money goes to SLFP elections.

Finally, there is nothing wrong losing one billion and every thing was perfect. Now, they talk about JO in order to cover up what they do. Politicians with the help of corrupt media make the public dumb.

Now, he is criticizing his own collegues.

This is what has been told for months and months but nothing happens. Has President Sirisena as the head of SLFP got the guts to take strong action against these individuals or not?

Nothing will happen!! They have cried ‘wolf’ so many times, that nobody takes notice any more! – least of all the JO. MS is more concerned about his party than the country!! He should take a lesson from David Cameron, who put party before country! Ultimately he will neither save the party nor the country!!
