President Maithripala Sirisena today declared that his party, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will rise to power again soon and today was the beginning of this rise.
Addressing a large gathering in Kurunegala on the occasion of the SLFP’s 65th Anniversary celebrations, Sirisena who is also the leader of the party said, ”
I took over the leadership of the party to form a SLFP Government.”
He called on all his party members to join hands to strengthen the SLFP. “Members of the party must unite to strengthen the SLFP, instead of trying to form a new party,” Sirisena said hinting at former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his loyalists plans to form a new party.
Sirisena also announced that the SLFP will contest the upcoming local government election under the symbol of the hand, which is SLFP’s official party symbol.
Just hours since the departure of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Sirisena also said that he will not bow down to any external pressure. “There will be no room for any international interference in domestic matters,” he said.
Sirisena also disclosed that he had warned Rajapaksa against calling for an early Presidential Election. “But, he didn’t listen to me,” he added.

What Maithri did was to remove the SLFP Cabinet and the Prime Minister, DM Jayaratna who was there are appointed Ranil and UNP Cabinet illegally. Since Sri Lanka is a “country partner” one would have thought that tourism industry and government experts would attend. Alas, it was not so. Other than Tourism Authority Chairman, Paddy Withana, there was a Ms Anu Rasiah, daughter of Tourism Minister, John Amaratunga participating. She has no title or designation, official or unofficial except being the daughter of the Minister.
When the question of who was to pay for her air fare came up, Tourism Ministry Secretary, P.H.J.B. Sugathadasa, refused to place his signature on documents confirming that she was a member of the Sri Lanka delegation nor authorise foreign exchange for the trip. State officers are now more conscious that they would be running the risk of facing investigation from the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the police if they do so.
However, “dada boy” did the needful. She not only received the requirements but also the foreign exchange for the trip. It did not however go from the Ministry funds as the alert Secretary refused to oblige.
Off she flew to the Chinese city of Xian, as part of the official Sri Lanka delegation, but soon thereafter, Ms Rasiah found to her dismay that she had lost her handbag and with it, her passport. Panic telephone calls were made. The conference had ended but she could not leave China without proving that she had entered the country legitimately. It came to light that her father Minister Amaratunga was not in Sri Lanka. He was attending a seminar together with his son-in-law Dinesh Weerakkody in South Korea.
Ms. Rasiah kicked her heels in Xian. Soon, an official of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing flew into Xian with an emergency certificate. Ms Rasiah is now due in Colombo today.
For Minister Ameratunga, doing the unusual is nothing new. When the United National Party (UNP) was in the opposition, he joined President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his foreign tours. Despite pressure for disciplinary action, he said he had obtained prior permission. His party leader said that he will pay back the air fare the Rajapaksa Government had paid for his ticket.
At least the Minister has proved that he is a faithful family man.

MS is a good guy remember? He brings change but he himself is not changed.
For the record I am against the Sinhala Only policy but remember it was a campaign promise and people voted for it. Demon – o – cracy in action again, but I feel that SWRD did a tiny bit of exploiting of the masses. Amarasiri’s IQ problem again – I mean did you know Sri Lanka is behind the Maldives in average IQ?
So: Sinhala only = campaign promise = the will of the people with low IQ
I am against any sort of violence, against the 52 riots that SWRD failed to quell, and against the imfamous 83 riots that JR failed to quell.
So what is to be done? Hopefully MS can at least now correct his mistakes and live upto expectations. That’s what he was voted in for, after all.

This guy is lost. He is the President and leader of SLFP. All he has to do to form a SLFP government is invite one of the 95 UPFA members to form a government. Sira sadly will face the same situation as Field Marshal. Sira won on UNP and anti UPFA votes. Ranil has conveniently moved Sira from the UNP. At the local election he will realize that Rajapaksa has gone with the SLFP lock stock and Barrel. At the next Presidential election he will be the third candidate. He will ensure a Rajapaksa (Gota) victory.

Even if this dude door knocks every Sinhala Buddhist majority seat in the country, Sira Party wouldn’t score enough seats to match even Kumara Party.
And I am ready to put money on it..
But Sira is no stupid.
He will wrangle his way to have a another go at the Presidency by signing a another MOU with Batalanada Ranil so that the latter can be the PM for another 5 years.
Money bags who back Ranil , who are now raking it in big time, both legally and illegally will put pressure on Batalanda to take it.
But it all depends on whether Bodhi Sira , allow Batalanada Ranil to convict the brave Rana Viru, to please Suren Surendran and the Diaspora who tried to bash the ex President even as late as yesterday.
And most importantly , whether Sira ticks off Batalanada and Whiskey Madam’s Federal Eelaam by stealth for Vellalala Smabandan, which the free Car Permit holders are working on in Kotte.
When I saw those two Bodhi Sira supporters vomiting against that Kurunagala Building, and his mates standing at the Tavern waiting for a dram,I thought it would be better for Bodhi Sira to take his loyal followers in to the UNP, and forget about getting humiliated by the real Sinhala and Buddhist inhabitants, by trying to stage manage these vain attempts to show that the real SLFPers are with him.

It is clear My3 has learnt nothing when he says that he does not understand why people attack him within SLFP. His double act of saying one thing and doing another has alienated grassroots SLFP members. Today he said that the convention is the beginning to forming a SLFP government but he said something different at first anniversary of the good governance government. He said the alliance will continue till 2020 and he will think of a way how to continue beyond that.
Now who is going to believe him. Ranil is not a fool. Ranil will ditch My3 in 2020 if it is beneficial to him. Watch it.
