Social Media Outcry Over IGP’s Phonegate Scandal

A huge social media outcry is demanding the immediate resignation of the Inspector General Police Pujith Jayasundara after he himself publicly made a mockery of the Yahapalanaya government’s formulated independent Police Commission that has been created to stop acts as displayed by him.

Violating the rules and regulations of the very purpose of the creation of the independent Police Commission, the Inspector General of Police was caught red handed on television speaking on his mobile phone and addressing a phone caller by the name of ‘Sir’, confirming that he had instructed the Financial Crimes Investigations Chief to not arrest a particular “Nilame”.

However Anura Kumara Dissanayake bringing this issue up in parliament said that the Basnayake Nilame refered to was none other than the current Devundara Vishnu Dewale incumbent Dishan Wikramaratne Gunasekara who is presently being investigated by the Financial Crime Division for fraud and the caller being none other than the Minister of Minister of Law & Order, Sagala Ratnayake.

Incidentally the Devundara Vishnu Dewale is situated in Sagala Ratnayake’s electorate.

“What is the power that the IGP is wielding? That is a matter and a decision for judiciary. Who is this sir he was addressing? As a parliament we need to know. It is extremely clear how these ‘Sirs’ will do what it takes to protect fraudsters. I believe this so called ‘Sir’ the IGP was referring to is Sagala Ratnayake. If it is not him then the IGP should inform this parliament who it was” Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

President Maithripala Sirisena when questioned in parliament said “I too watched the video footage and vehemently condemn the actions of the IGP and I have asked him for an explanation regarding the incident”.

Under the Maithripala Sirisena led Yahapalanaya government three independent commissions were formed on the 14th of October 2015 under the 19th amendment to the constitution which was National Police Commission, Public Service Commission and the Election Commission.

A prominent lawyer speaking to Colombo Telegraph when contacted said “Where is the natural justice when the IGP himself violates the independent Police Commission rules and regulations so open and blatantly? Politicians are merely causing unjust interference. This is a third world political set up”.

The independent Police Commission proudly proclaims in its vision statement to be a “A safe, secure and peaceful society through a credible, independent and professional Police service” whilst it mission statement reads “ To transform Sri Lanka Police into an efficient, transparent and responsive service that, respects and protects Human Rights, ensures Public Accountability and upholds the Rule of Law”.

President Maithripala Sirisena now finds himself in a tango as it is only he who has the power to replace the Inspector General of Police. The National Police Commission is an independent body established under the 19th amendment to the constitution vested with powers of appointments transfers and promotions, control of discipline and dismissal of all ranks of police officers except the IGP. Is there a surprise here? No.

So, what is the “Presiden” Sirisena saying? “I have asked him for an explanation regarding the incident”

The Sirisena will sit on it.

The “President” Sirisena is currently classified by the 62 lakhs who voted for him as a Turncoat, Traitor, Gona and Mala-Perethaya, because thee is suppor for for those titles.

We all thoughts this particular YOUNG IGP would bring tangible changes to the prevailing stagations in the areas.

Anyways, to see other way around to be the reality of the day – is becoming the saddened truth day to another.

I tihnk if IGP had been dependent iin this case, he should resign leaving the place for the next appropriate candidate.

      God bless srilanka.

According to L. Kirialla this particular conversation could/would have been between the IGP and his past mentors (Teachers); accordingly ,he had addressed the caller as “sir” thus no point jumping the gun this quickly.what Kirialla tries to do is , buy some time until another scandal pops up; so that every one forgets about the call.

PS: IGP and Sagala Rathnayake must lead by example ;thus , both must tender their resignation and go home gracefully.

Srilal, hope you are keeping well FRIEND :). Last we heard from you was weeks ago. I am so fed up being that stagnated in the process of jailing Rajapakshe.
How happy we had been at the time, diverse forces destroyed Rajaapkshe future plans on the 8th Jan 2015.
But just after 2 years – we are all unhappy not being able to see what we dreamt towards the end of 2014.
Today, Rajaakshes can even add their all abusive talks to the press even loudly hi hi hu hu attack to the current regime.
All because the path the current duo chose was too decent to the rascals.
Pleae bring an analysis as you see it all these, Thanks and greetings from Rome

            Sirimal

Today we are perplexed at the behavior of the President and the Prime Minister, and tomorrow we will be asking them both to resign, unless their form changes. From all accounts they wont, or they can’t.

And when people ask them to vacate, the cry will be led by those very same independent minds who were foolish enough to think these two would bring fresh winds with them way back in January 2015.

It is now becoming clear, not only will they not, but actually they cant!!!

The Rajapakses probably have too much up their sleeves on them both, to risk doing the right thing by 22 million people.

            Damned fools, us!

            Dear Sirimal ,

It’s always good to see your comments Sirimal , as you correctly said ,things have come to a standstill in SL , especially FCID related matters ;accordingly , Rajapakse Mafia gang is in full swing as never before , Mafia king was in china touring as a distinguish guest of the Chinese government last week , then The Gota the Psychopath’s travel ban has been lifted , Basil alias Mr 10% ‘s travel restriction would be relaxed next week , Yoshitha’s earlier travel ban also been lifted , what more they need ? round the clock STF is guarding the whole clan while MR is having the last laugh .
There are enough evidence and cases against every single character of the family , yet mysteriously nothing seems to be working against them . only few staged managed day dramas at display to please the masses i.e jailing some one for one or two weeks for misusing state vehicles , strangely that offence is the only offence out of numerous mega scams seem to be picking by this Good governance government.
Lanka e News editor Sadaruwn is the latest victim as our Justice minister Dealdasa and Rajitha wanted him to be ;accordingly , Hemantha Warankulasooriya along with the so called judge executed the plan . ironically this case was taken prominence over all the other cases ;thus, inter-pole red notice was issued against him at a lightning speed , yet the fugitive Udayangana Weerathunga’s case is going at a snail speed . what a joke ?
MY3 is overly concern about his beloved SLFP more than any thing else ;hence , he is protecting every one who is with him . Nimal Lanza is a case in point , he happened to be a deputy minister of this good governance government . basically all the big time Rajapakse time criminals are being protected by none other than MY3 himself.
Ranil is following his uncle’s foot path , in other words , he wants to satisfy all his subordinates with all sorts of perks and extravaganzas while we the ordinary simpletons are being burdened with heavy taxes and fines .
Though MY3 and RW steering the country in the right direction , they are becoming increasingly unpopular among the rural and working class masses.

Janaka – Why do you think IGP is a weak character, think he is not, he exposed it in front of the public and now the matter is in open and look at the public uproar it has created here. I would not say, someone like Pujitha Jayasundara would lose his balance at the instance of a call coming from a Minister and make such utterances in public. Could be a smart strategy adopted by him and I’m sure no other politician will try to influence the IGP again!

And also I would like to pose a question regarding what Ranjan Ramanayake added on AKD day before yesterday.

Not only grand parties but also AKD s JVP and media also seem to have deals.
There AKD seems to be silent why ?

Sri lankan media, whether they are living inside or outside, is chicken. I think Mahinda Rajapakse treated them the best taking out a few and making others leave.

Sri lanka media is not criticizing Ranil or his gang of thieves.

Instead, criticizes those employed by Ranil.

Meida does not want to think, they also work for a living unlike politicians who destoy the country for living.

I now know this particular IGP gave us LIP SERVICE only.

I think he has FAILED to deliver his promises yet.

Instead to penislessly hang on public phone calls – alone proves his matuarity.
The kind of silly calls can only create all unexpected problems – specially among the most uncivilized folks being controlled by JOoint Thakkadiya OPPOSition.

PLEASE IGP RESIGN IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR BUM.

YOU HAVE DAMAGED ALL WHAT YOU PROMISED BY THIS PHONE CALL:

Very first day at the appointment itself, I felt very bad looking at the manner this man held the speech as IGP.
He behaved as if he is very right, but seem to be low grade.. in terms of managaing an incoming phone call.
      How come ?
      Lack of experience ?

      SRILANKEN IGP ?
He betrayed entire independent police commisson by his UNETHICAL behaviour.

Any simple person would know, when a phone call is there when you are in a public meeting, you would not open that to the public… but this man could nt know it. how come ? SENIOR or JUNIOR police man ?

Simon De Siva – “Any simple person would know, when a phone call is there when you are in a public meeting, you would not open that to the public… but this man could nt know it. how come ? SENIOR or JUNIOR police man ?” Million dollar question, think about it yourself, why did he do that. IGP is lot smarter than a simple person, that we all know.

PS: Resign. Only if you guys have any self-respect. I doubt either of you do.

DEAR AMARASIRI AND OTHER SONS AND DAUGHTERS,
I AM A VERY OLD CITIZEN AND WATCHED THE POLITICS SINCE ABOUT 1945. HON. PM D.S.S. TAUGHT US WHAT NEPOTISM WAS AND IGNORED THUGGERY ORGANIZED BY HIS BROTHER F.R.SENANAYAKE’S WIFE’S NEPHEW HON. JOHN KOTALAWALA (LATER SIR JOHN) when he USED THUGGERY TO PREVENT MR N.H.KEERTHIRATNE OF RAMBUKKANA DISTRIBUTING LEAFLETS IN DODANGASLANDA WHEN HON. DUDLEY SENANAYAKE CONTESTED MR KEERTHIRATNE; DUDLEY HAD WON.THESE ARE ONLY A FEW INSTANCES.
TODAY, WE LAUGH AT OUR POLITICIANS’ ENGLISH AND IGP’S GODAY PRONUNCIATION. BUT THOSE DAYS NO BODY EVEN COMMENTED ABOUT HON. DSS’S ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND PRONUNCIATION.
IN 1957 DURING HON. SWRDB’S TIME 2 JUNIOR MINISTERS WENT TO JAIL AS THERE WAS THE RULE OF LAW. THEY WERE MONNEKULAMA OF KURUNEGALA AND MARIKKAR OF KADUGANNAWA. DURING HON SIRIMAVO RD’S TIME NOBODY INTERFERED WITH THE JUDICIARY AND THE RULE OF LAW AND MANY WHO TOOK RIES WERE PUNISHED.

“DURING HON SIRIMAVO RD’S TIME NOBODY INTERFERED WITH THE JUDICIARY AND THE RULE OF LAW AND MANY WHO TOOK RIES WERE PUNISHED.”

Nepotism and corruption became institutionalized under Siri Mao’s premiership taking bribe became part of enriching day to day life experience. Many MPs took bribe but did not get caught, maybe police department was too busy making money themselves they did not have time nor the duty consciousness to arrest the crooks.

From cooperative inspectors, to technical assistants working in the agricultural department, Customs officers, ,,, state owned bank managers, PWD, passport control department, …. you name it nepotism and corruption were rife in every government department in the 1970s.

Don’t forget racism became institutionalised in the 1950s. There had never been a golden age in this island.

Wish you a long and healthy fruitful life.

WHEN S.L. BECAME AN OPEN ECONOMY IN 1977 IT IS NO SECRET THAT OUR INDIGENOUS VALUE SYSTEMS CHANGED. ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTED ALL SACRED INSTITUTIONS OF THE COUNTRY ABSOLUTELY. THE OPEN ECONOMY HAD A PLACE FOR DRUG LORDS. THE ‘BUKIE LORDS’ LIKE MUDALIYAR MUDALIGE LOST THEIR PLACE IN SOCIETY.CRIMINALS LIKE GONAWALA SUNIL WERE PARDONED BY PRESIDENT JRJ. SC JUDGES’ HOUSES WERE STONED. RETROACTIVE LEGISLATION WAS PASSED TO PUNISH SIRIMAVO.PRESIDENT JRJ HAD A REFERANDUM AND TOOK LETTERS OF RESIGNATION FROM HIS MINISTERS TO SHUT THEIR MOUTHS.1983 MASSACRE OF TAMILS WAS ORGANIZED BY RACIST MINISTERS.THEY SAW TO IT THAT THE JAFFNA LIBRARY WAS DESTROYED. MAHAWELI WAS DIVERTED UT MUCH OF ITS FUNDS FLOWED TO HIS COFFERS. WHEN HIS OWN FINANCE MINISTER RONNY DE MEL GOT INLAND REVENUE OFFICERS TO RADE HIS HOME AND UNDECLARED MONEYS WERE FOUND, THEY WERE TOLD THAT HE WON A BET. IN ONE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION EVEN CANDIDATE KOBBEKADUWA’S VOTE HAD BEEN CAST. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO WRITE ON MORE CORRUPTION, AS SOME STILL REMEMBER THEM.

          Kautilya,

We remember how honest Mrs. B was when she had altered zeros in her Land Reform declaration leading to her civic rights being cancelled. How decent and Honest Felix Dias was displayed in the film ‘Sagarayak Meda’ that was a box office hit. Remember when the UF govt lost in ’77 and the UNP goons raided the Naiwala Farm of Felix Dias B, the large stock of milk food found that was in short supply for the masses, was not in short supply for the animals. Such was the arrogance and abuse of power exercised by your idols in politics and you have the cheek and the audacity to come and mislead the readership.

I think we are all wasting our time. Is’nt this the same IGP who has stalled the Daham Sirisena assault investigation? What we are witnessing is the classic third world dancing around the bushes phenomenon. Expecting first world standards, just by creating institutions and talking about them won’t work.

This hole was dug starting in the 70’s. Each decade, we made it bigger. Yes, its WE who did this, not just them! Now, just to come out of this stinking hole, it will take over a generation of reeducation. It has NEVER WORKED, in global history. Otherwise, we will continue doing the same things, expecting different outcomes.

The best example we have is the GMOA. They have collectively bled the nation at every juncture, in absolutely violation of the hyppocratic oath. Yet, they continue to get away with it. Arguing about MP’s allowances when they are openly stealing millions is another idiotic exercise. This is what a powerless, clueless society can does. We all have cousins and closer relatives who are having a grand time spending money they have managed to steal from the State. They will never admit to doing that. For them, its business as usual.

When JR said, to create a Dharmishta society one must turn the searchlight inwards…he meant you and I. NOT HIM!

Which side of the bed this dude got off this morning?.

Sagale is Batalanade’s inner circle with Mallika, Samre, and Achila.

This Prince was paid that LKR 25 Lakhs to support them not to bag them..

When UNP IGP Pujitha was carrying on with Yes Sir & No “Sir” in public on the Mobile Blower,to someone, I thought who could it be other than Batalanada Ranil or Bodhi Sira.

Why would the IGP of the Nation call anyone else Sir, while getting instructions on how to carry out Yahapalana Law?.

Imagine if our dear friend Kudu Mervyn got a gig with Batalands to run Yahapalanaya?.

UNP Pujitha would have called him Sir too.

BTW to more important issue which I am worried about is, how our 70 percent inhabitant population going to cope with 7 Pujithyas,

Easterners and the Northerners wouldn’t have to worry ..I guess.

All of us are preaching to the converted. Ranil and Sirisena do not read these columns. Between ourselves we all know what should be done about this and about the interminable list of scandals reported by CT.

Nothing will change because the masses are apathetic and don’t hold their leaders to account. If there is no alternative to UNP/SLFP/JVP they could at least abstain from voting to register their displeasure, but they are weak, downtrodden, hungry, living on hope and scraps tossed to them by their leaders.

“No I’m suggesting that Ranil & Sirisena grow a pair (each preferably) “

All politicians have tied their “b***s” to each other. One cannot pull oneself unilaterally from others, the thought itself hurt their b***s.

Politicians have their own network of crooks irrespective of party political affiliation. It is the traditional culture, extended family ties, obligation and abuse of power or it is the network of crooks who believe in “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”, mutually supported by the crooked state functionaries who rely on political crooks for their well being (covering up their inefficiency, mistakes, thievery, corruption ….) and job security.

The way he was appointed suggested that he will not be able to do the job even he does know it. This is not CBG Emil Mahendran. As he is a Sinhalese he still can keep go on.

If LTTE IGP had been fired properly it is different. LTTE IGP was accused before being fired that he was one killed Lasantha, that is why he was not arresting anybody. Now what?

This earlier I wrote somewhere else. :
There are news IGP Comedian openly promised to a telephone caller on the stage of a meeting in Ratnapura that he is not going to arrest certain people.

These people should be deported to Timbuktu, Sahara or Siberia. They should not see the light and breathe the air of the civilized world.

What kind of a Law Enforcement “Top Brass” is he? I knew he would be this type from the day made a statement after accepting the post of IGP. He said: “I was conducting “Bodi Pooja” for more than thirty days with a wish to get this position”. Mr. Anura Kumara is asking: “What is the Police Commission going to do about this telephone conversation:? How hard you fought to establish these so called “Independent Commissions” and now you must be learning, that also in the hard way, how these types of establishments are USELESS in a country like Sri Lanka. By the way, is IGP coming under the Police Commission or the Minister of Law and Order? I am raising this question, because there were earlier instances where this IGP has not carried out the instructions of the Police Commission. It is good that the President himself admitted seen and listened to that telephone conversation aired over a TV channel. Now at least he, the President must know and realize what is going on in the country is not what he KNOWS and OUGHT TO BE? Please have that “Madu Walige” in your hand to hit hard to anyone irrespective of his/her status. That is the ONLY WAY to correct these vagabonds in high positions who are derailing the Good Governance programmes.

We can request the IGP to resign. What next. Another bootlicker will be appointed as the IGP. THE WHOLE SYSTEM NEEDS AN OVERHAUL.

Such things happen only in highly underdeveloped countries and Sri Lanka is now on par with them.

I had a lot of regard for the IGP when appointed. But he is a utter disappointment and also an idiot for taking such calls in public!!

Yes you make every efforts to stand with high criminals.

There are diverse kind of problems in the systems, all these were not even clear to the people in the days of your HIGH criminal Athigaru right ?

Today at least critical discussions on the topics are in the air. That is a something. Be happy man, …. you have no brains to get it.
Even President attacks the other… president has been allowed to face criticism, but MR days, ballige puthas neverallowed anyone to drop a word against. The consequences were abductions, missings, torture and murder.

VVIP family is now caught by all the allegations in terms of Thadujeen murder. Do you have answers ?

We perfectly know even if your wife and children woould have been raped by the Rajaakshes, you would still be their dotage. That is your stupidity man. What else we should add about you.

From the day he was appointed it was clear that this bloke has a personal agenda I called his as a “show off”. Talking nonsense with using sinhala-english hybrid language. what a slave actin he has. He is getting direct instructions from a Minister (could be Police Minister) what a pathetic situation. What JO says is true, this fellow bending the law for pure survival.

He should be sacked with the Police Minster

The minister or whatever donkey should never have called the IGP re: the matter discussed. I accept the fault of the IGP in this matter. But this is what rules in our Banana Republic. MPs & Ministers call poor officials and demand such things. Bring legislation banning such actions by such people. First of all ask the politician to resign and go home.

And tell us at run was under your Athigaru, did anyone resign for the kind of issues ? Today atleast we hear president asking it to be investigated and pass him the report. But Rajaapakshe let it go.. I still remember at the time visiting UNP MPs were attacked in HABANTOTA 3 years ago, president himself was praising the thugs… no whatsoever investigatioons or reports were called.Srinath you are already rotten with all the jealouscy and malice. Havve you checked by a psychologist, but please dont harm him. UK psychologists can instantly see your problem no doubt.
And at the time, people of the same nation quesitoned, as to why AThigaru helicoptered to Lanzas house at the time Police was about to arrested the beach boy/Negombo Drug kin pin/Lanza, but former President/Minister of Defence/Minister of finance/ did not even issue an statement. REmeber you pakisburuwa ?

Do you have evidences previous to have delivered any good moves in Economy. Econmists confirm today, those numbers were doctored. If the economy was that good, why the bugger to have gone for a PE not completing next two years ?
Sorry you should be that stupid, even today not othave gotten the truth.
Today at least human rights are saved.
Is that not worth to you ?
Earlier, missings and disspearences and white vvanning were like their daily routine. I myself had to be that scared during my short visit paid to the parents. They wasted that high sums again and agian, while leaving the poor of the poor in much deep. That was the case. Today, they all have been blessed with a pay high of 10k. They dont market them. Essential goods are cheaper than earlier: Even petrol and disel prices became lower. Why not you guys see it that way ?
Ask your offsprings or neigbours to help you with the information.
The gravity of corruption driven by Rajaakshes broke all records.
Today at least investigations are called:

Like a man became blind since 08th Jan 2015, you have been behaving all the time.

They the current men have done lot more good things, but much more ot be done. They are not magicians to bring wonders. Bond scam is a complex issue, that has lot to do with its complexity than anything else. However, it is being under investigation. And other anomalies are also investigated unlike the case under Srimathono MR.
The debries left by the Srimathano et al to be ironed out by newly elected rulers. That is no easy with not much is left to run the govt further. If you yourself see it right today, the gravity of looting mastered by MR men are beyond all bearing.
They even did it on broad day light.
All that were close to them were looters.
Even tree climbers or former pick pocket men became untouchable weathy men.
I challenge you, if you could pleae bring FORMER sRIMATHANO to an Interview where the professionals could question him CLEARLY AS THEY can about each allegations levelled at him and his family.

          Please accept the challenge: Thanks

IGP or anybody else must not call anybody in Sri Lanka “Sir”. This is title given by Queen of the British empire. We had 6 or 7 Sirs. They all are dead and gone. Everybody has a name and you should call anybody by name adding “Mrs, Miss or Mr.” and no other titles please. Specially the third class, uneducated fools in the parilament should called “Modayas”.

    Siri

This has been typical to srilankens – they even call their University teachers – Sir… ape sir.. . that has been their culture. In canada, they are used to use it to anyone being called. Sir… I am sorry sir.. etc. What is wrong with that ? Let them use it as they feel it right.

Who should take the part blame first Sagala Ratnayaka. However the other half of the blame should go to the Sri Lankan scociety which blindly respect the people who are dishonest and hide behind religions.
Priests of all religions and all religious leaders who break the law should be severely punished.

Several things to be taken away from this

    1. As the IGP he seems not to have any idea about confidentiality – a serious character flaw
    2. The government is cherry-picking the people they want to investigate – not a single minister who joined the present government is being investigated.
    3. The comedy of ‘Misuse of government vehicles’ is such a puerile and intangible charge it can be applied 10 times a day if you were to see the government cars parked outside schools
    4. Not a single cache – either in an account or in cash – has been discovered by the FCID. Irresponsible statements by the Presidential spokesman, who by the way has a serious charge at the bribery charge that is not being investigated, make the whole government look rather stupid.

Mahinda is watching and waiting – his grass root popularity is huge and Sirisena will eventfully be forced to align himself with him in a deal as the pressure mounts.

This stupid IGP showed his ignorance to the whole world by answering the phone, while he was addressing a gathering using a P/A system. Now everybody knows that he interferes with the justice system and try to implement things his way. He should resign if he has any dignity. If not, should remove him from this post, as he is not suitable to be the IGP at all.

More time passes there is a suspicion emerges if this is only a drama. IGP Pujitha actions was too cool to answering a bullying boss. Directors producers might include New King, PM….. New King’s response in the parliament also suggest he too may be well aware of the Call Drama. Yet one has to hear from official Police commission’s report on this.

If accidently a first grader was promoted to IGP, even that child might have avoided the microphone announcement of the call. So IGP expected the call to come to the stage and answered as preplanned standing near to the microphones.

Then why this drama? Hard to tell. But its connection pervades to the criminal at large, not specific to Nilame. This sounds like this is not to crew up more or less the particular Nilame’s case.

Anura Kumara might be right in the voice of the other side was Sagala. He, Malik like people would consent for this type of Dramas.

No man can stay in the Law and order minsitry, even if he/she is modaya or thief or possessing any other Lankawe’s Minister Qualifications. Only donkeys can stand up there. That is why Tilak, Sagala are assigned to that job.

If one more person deserves to Thirukkuvaal Whipping, it is Lord Soulbury for his recommendation to the British government to give freedom to Lankawe with is constitution.

The most important aspect in this “phone-gate” saga is not just Pujith and Sagala. This has much deeper roots that driving up to the President’s diatribe in October 10th or so, about the FCID, Bribery Commission and Presidential Commission on Fraud etc. on the seemingly political agenda on which these institutions function. In an interview given to the Divaina newspaper (Manoj Abheydeera) soon after this controversial speech, President basically said (between line reading), “rule of law has to be upheld after accommodating the political expediency”. This message was all over his interview in which he elaborated the difficulties he is facing running the country by antagonizing his political friends. According to the president, “full impartiality in upholding the rule of law is political hara-kiri.” Incidentally, “Friday Forum” had a column in the Island newspaper on this very point, but I have not seen anybody else discuss this double standards (political friends have to be treated with kid glove) especially people like Professor Sarath Wijessoriya and Gamini Viyangoda who foul cry in a drop of a hat.
What Sagala Ratnayake and Pujith is doing is to address the President’s desire of not doing political hara-kiri and how to “upheld the law after accommodating political expediency”. It is said that fish rot from the head. If President has a backbone to take a stand and claim “friend or foe you all are equal in front of the law” (this is what people expected from him on January 8th revolution), Sagala will toe in line so would Pujith. When the “maha kakuluwa” walking oblique how could he expect “podi Kakuluwa” to walk straight?
