Special Statement made by the Hon. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka – 16th December 2018
It is a pleasure to me to address you once again as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
You all know that the basic law of our country is the Constitution. Now we have passed 87 years after we gained franchise. During this whole period the people of this country protected the Constitution. They protected fundamental rights. Whenever there was a threat to the constitution and to the fundamental rights, they came forward to protect them.
Same thing happened in the Presidential Election in 2016. You all joined hands to end an era in which the Constitution and the rights of the people were suppressed. It is with this intention that we adopted the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in order to protect the rights of the people more and more. I would like to emphasize that democracy will not be strengthened by acting against the constitution.
The Prime Minister of the Country should have the maximum confidence of the Parliament. Without a majority support a Prime Minister cannot bring forward the Country. Similarly, the Prime Minister and the Ministers should vacate their posts when a no confidence motion was passed in Parliament against them. In terms of the Constitution no one has the power to dissolve Parliament until four and half years have lapsed after a Parliament is formed. It can only be done on a resolution passed by two thirds majority in Parliament.
This Constitutional violation cannot be rectified by way of an election. It is also stated in the Judgement of the Supreme Court.
I would like to quote the following paragraph included in page 85 of the judgement delivered by the Supreme Court.
“It has been said by some of the added Respondent that refusing the Petitioner’s applications will enable a General Election to be held in pursuance of the Proclamation marked “P1” and, therefore, justified because it will give effect to the franchise of the people. That submission is not correct. Giving effect to the franchise of the people is not achieved by the court permitting a General Election held consequent to dissolution of Parliament which has been effected contrary to the provision of the Constitution. Such a General Election will be unlawfully held and its result will be open to question. A General election will be valid only if it is lawfully held. Thus, a General Election held consequent to dissolution of Parliament which has been done contrary to the provisions of the constitution will not be a true exercise of the franchise of the people.”
I said the same thing on 26th October at Temple Trees. I said that our fight was for the sake of democracy, justice, protection of the Constitution, adherence of the rule of the law and civilized and moral conduct of society. I also said that we would win this fight.
Even today I am telling the same thing. I will tell the same tomorrow too. I will abide my word. I will do what I say. I say only what I can do.
Most of the people of this country joined together to protect the constitution, democracy, and the rights of the people. Hundred thousand of people who adhere to their conscience came to the forefront of this fight as Sri Lankans, disregarding their race, religion and party politics. Sri Lankans living abroad too supported this move to the best of their ability. They joined this fight on behalf of their country and democracy without any personal gain.
I take this opportunity to salute them all.
Similarly, I would like to pay my homage to the Maha Sanga and the clergy of other religions who guided us in this endeavor.
The Hon. Speaker, Ministers and the members of the Parliament fully dedicated to uphold the supremacy of the Parliament and democracy. I offer my sincere gratitude to all them. Our judicial institutions including the supreme Court and the Court of Appeal exhibited their independence and the identity to the whole world. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Judiciary as well as to the lawyers who made their legal submissions. And also, I offer my gratitude to the members of the public service, armed services and the Police who upheld the rule of law and justice.
My gratitude should go to the journalists who fought for the impartiality of Media in the midst of the pressures of errant journalists and to all who toil day and night voluntary to tell the truth to the World through the Social Media.
In January 2015 and August 2015, we gained the mandate of the people to bring about good governance, to preserve the democracy and the Rule of the Law to eliminate frauds and corruptions, to empower Parliament after abolishing the executive presidency and to uphold the sovereignty of the people.
During the past three and half years we have done a lot to the Country.
It is due to progressive steps including the establishment of the independent Commissions that many institutions including the Judiciary could act independently.
The whole country is enjoying the harvest of the seeds we sawed during the past three and half years. We are happy about that. However, there are things we could not implement in this period. Some work got delayed. We could not finalize some work. But we haven’t lost our dedication determination. We are determined to rectify our shortcomings. We will take the steps to expedite the litigation regarding frauds and corruptions. We have created an environment in which different ethnic groups can live together in harmony and co existence. We will dedicate ourselves to maintain harmony among different ethnic groups.
Now, we should go forward.
Even by now, we have initiated the discussions with a number of political parties in respect to abolishing the executive Presidency. And also, we will have discussions with the Tamil National Alliance and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna to bring about a political solution in which all citizens can live in harmony in a unitary state.
I didn’t take any steps to enter into any agreement with the LTTE in order to win the Presidential Election. In the past I dedicated the victory in the Presidential Election for the sake of my motherland. I haven’t yet changed that stand.
Our intention is to form a broad alliance to protect democracy. It is only through democratic environment in which the voice of the people is considered and the rights of the people are protected. We can bring about a dignified society where future generation can do without fear.
Our effort is to create a strong democratic environment that any external force cannot suppress. My heart-felt wish is to create a such a Sri Lanka. You all wish for such a country. It is the hope of all Sri Lankans.
Therefore, I appeal to all of you to forget all differences and join hands with this broad alliance, for the sake of our motherland, democracy rights of the people and to bring about a free country for the unborn generation.
Let us allow our heart-felt wish.

The Old Political Model and the New Political Model of Politicians. It is like the societal model of man and women in marriage. Some Politicians have become bribe takers in Sri Lanka, and some women “whores”, in the West and rapidly in the East as well.
The old societal model was this: A young woman would trade her youth and fertility exclusively to only one man, and he in turn would be the workhorse and take care of her when she gets past her prime. This was a great incentive for Men to work and “become Men,” i.e. you got a great prize, a young, beautiful, and loyal wife. In theory, as we know, life isn’t perfect, but it was a model that worked. She does him a favor early on, by being a virgin / exclusive, and later on, he does her a favor, by dutifully staying and supporting her instead of leaving her for a younger woman.
The new (collapsing) societal model is this: Women whore around and waste their youth and fertility on the Chad/Tyrone bad-boy types, get walled out, get STDs, lose their ability to pair bond with Men, and rapidly accelerate their aging process with excessive alcohol and fast food consumption, and have no loyalty whatsoever to any Man, and only profess love and loyalty fleetingly, when they are desperate to marry. What good, decent, upstanding Man wants to pay an arm and a leg for something 30 (plus) other Men got for free? The incentive for Men to carry the burdens of modern Western women is completely gone
Women are throwaway sexual objects now more than they ever were, with less value than a handful of sand.

Don’t appoint parliamentarians as ministers who have pending court cases.
Make our judicial system more independent by only having PM, Speaker and Opposition leader in the constitutional council.
Make a system where Media cannot spread garbage.
Don’t sell our nation’s assets without telling the truth to the nation, including the pros and cons of the sale you expect.

This is a test case where an overwhelming majority of our country’s citizens in fact en-block came to the rescue of Democracy virtually lacerated by the very people who had taken the solemn oath of allegiance to uphold and protect it . Although the dust has settled the scars can never be erased from the picture painted by these hooligans.Any way we thank the PM for his statement but the conduct of the majority of the so called Hon. MPP leaves much to be desired. In the greater interests of our country and in their own interests they should disappear from the political arena of our country before they are shown the door. Now what should be the first priority for the two leaders?. They cannot hoodwink the people any more, the people know the underhand work done by them in protecting the culprits by not allowing the Investigations and justice system to carry out their official duties. We do not want to embarrass you any more as you are well aware of your sacred duties as head of the Govt. You cannot sleep with the hare and hunt with the hounds any more and that is exactly what you did in the past three years or so and the corrupt politicians and their confidants made hay in the sun shine while the poor and the needy were left on the lurch. We pray that good sense will prevail and the two leaders will be converted to enable them to serve the people.

Racist stop Sinhalising ancient Tamil names. it is Thirumalai or Thirkoonamalai not Tirikunamala. Similarly it is Kantalai and Seruvil and not Kantale or Seruwila. Other than a few border villages , that was no history of Sinhalese settlements in the north and east. Sinhalese are recent arrivals to these areas. Deliberately settled by all successive Sri Lankan governments from independence to change the demography and to reduce the Tamils as a minority in their own areas. A few Kandyan kings of Tamil origin loosely controlling parts of the east , does not make them Sinhalese. To the eastern Tamils these kings were Hindu Tamils. Even the Buddhist ruins in these areas are Tamil . Now Sinhalese Buddhist Fascists , the occupying Sinhalese armed services and the archaeological department are concocting fairly tales about ancient Sinhalese Buddhist settlements in the north and east, planting or destroying evidence to suit their agenda and claiming ancient Saivite temples and these Tamil Buddhist ruins as Sinhalese. last week the a mad extremist Buddhist monk and the armed forces have erected a huge Buddah statue at the site of an ancient Saivite temple, this despite a court order to desist from this sort of behaviour and now they are claiming the Hindu temple in northern Trincomalle at Thenamaravadi as an ancient Buddhist site and want to destroy the temple and erect a Buddah statue. What sort of Buddhist monk is this going around destroying other religious sites , using lies and fairy tales ,as he can do so with impunity , as the occupying Sinhalese armed forces and establishment support him. This nonsense must immediately stop and these mad Buddhist monks , the occupying Sinhalese armed forces , police and government officials should be kicked out of the north and east as their are extremists and racist to the core.

During their rule they changed Sinhala place names to Demala. When Parangi attacked Yapa Patuna (aka Yapanaya), Demalu did not fight; it was Sinhala Army sent by King Senerath who fought.

In addition to what you have mentioned even in the North names of village are being changed to Sinhala- Manal Aru as Valioya, Nainatheevu as Nagadeepa and many more are in the process of being changed’
Even Kathirkamam was changed to Kthiragama. In the 1950’s Lord Muruga was the chef occupant, PERHAPS THE SOLE OCCUPANT.. of Kathirkamam, there after when the Sinhlese found lord Muruga was a capable God who was beckoned to save the Murderers and those who were about to be murdered. They taught him Sinhala brought in lord Buddha’s statue too to make him a full fledged ‘ Sinhala God. Of course Lord Buddha never learnt Sinhala. but he seem to understand Sinhala by forcibly associating himself with LORD MURUGA..I understand that the Sinhala murderers appeal to lord Muruga to save them from the gallows. But I am not sure of his response.
As far as ‘Eagle Eye’ is concerned he appears to suffer from Tamil phobia. He seems to be a HISTORIAN of no mean repute. ‘His Story always speak of the superiority of the Sinhala Race and their capacity to fight among themselves for power- killing siblings parents and friends and of course the Tamils. He hates India but had a love affair when the Indians fought the Tamils in Srilanka.
I am not a religious person but every one has the freedom to practice any religion. Except Buddhism because it is considered a philosophy, easy to follow but difficult practice especially after the
Sinhala Buddhist Concept. Fortunately I am an agnostic.

In fact sometime back I suggested that North /East should be given on lease to the Tamils for 99 years to enable the diaspora to invest and develop the Area without interference from the Sinhala government. I was informed by a Tamil Diaspora who visited Srilanka to explore the possibility of investments’ that he was rather disappointed when he was approached by high ups to give bribes to the tune of 10/20/ 30% of investments to get things moving. He gave up. Perhaps if the area is leased out investors may escape the payment of bribes.

The ancestor of the Bandaranayke clan belonged to the non Brahmin Vellala Hindu priest clan or caste called the Pandarar. His name was Neela Perumal , this is why their Ge name until recently was NeelaPerumalge. His Tamil Pandarar clan title later became Bandara in Sinhalese like many upper caste Kandyans of the same origin and Nayake added as head of a Pandarar/Bandara clan. JR Jayawarene the nasty anti Tamil and racist is a direct descendant from an Indian Tamil immigrant called Thambi Mudaliar . who either belonged to the Tamil Chettiar or to the high Mudaliar sub caste amongst the Vellalars, just like the other nasty anti Tamil Athulath Mudali( Mudaliar) . All these people migrated around the 17th century from South India to the island and changed their religion from Hinduism to various forms of Christianity as per the ruling western colonial power and finally to Buddhism after 1948. Their identity from Tamil to Sinhalese to protect their assets. Their ancestors were traitors and worked hard for the white western colonials and were amply rewarded for their traitorous activities with thousands of acres of lands and titles. The British praised JR Jayawardene’s ancestor for his service to the British Empire , when he died in 1830. The Tamil ancestors of the other anti Tamil Srimavo Ratwatte Bandaranaike signed the Kandyan convention in Tamil and signed his name as Ravatai in Tamil , as just like many Kandyan nobles and upper castes he was of Tamil speaking Tamil South Indian Tamil/Telugu origin. The family later Sinhalised their name to Ratwatte.

26th October to 14th December 2018 will be remembered as the time when Rule of Law being firmly embedded in Sri Lanka since independence — instead of not taking the issues to the street beyond what is required in a democratic society – not as riots as were done in the past. Part of the reason is intra instead of usual inter.
All of them may have had their reasons to do certain things believing it to be the correct decision, human fragility excepted. For general acceptance though, it has to be adjudicated by a court, in this instance by the Supreme Court. An independent judiciary is the corner stone of a democratic society.
In fact , there are no winners or losers in exercise, except demonstration of independence of the Court — vital to a nation especially if it is committed to good governance. People are relieved that parties to the conflict are respecting and bowing to the judicial decisions.
Democracy in Sri Lanka is now assured – certainly within the competing ruling cliques.

As far as I know Sri lankan BASIC LAW is the British PHENAL CODE and CRIMINAL CODE and not the constitution. Particularly, this constitutiomis written by Washington as had been said by a US SENATOR. Jayampathi and Sumanthiran only inluded Orumiththa nadu and Nashirishthan. Ranil say he is going to make the Sri lanka Democratic. why what did he do for three and half years. Besides, UNpatriotic SAMANALA party constitution should be democratic first. Because, Ranil’s Deputy LEaders are the best suitable for Ranil. Please provide a job scope for elected MP’s/Mayors/PC’s/LG elected and have KPI’s. The Nation should have a clear Foreign Policy – we are no threat to anyone and we still hold non alligned policies and will do whatever to sustain dignified life to the subjects of SL. All are welcome to be part of her success with mutual respect and interest. Nothing less will ever be entertained again. We may be divided for unfortunate reasons but we will overcome this disability with education to our people in Nation Building through example now we know whom we can not trust. National pride and Patriotism will be part of our future just as is the case for all other nations of our great world too. Dear Hon PM please inform the world the good governance did deliver the ‘right of return’ and ask all the Nations around the world who were kind enough to accommodate us as refugees then should now return us all home voluntarily or by force to be the front line of workers to develop the country? Nation Building.
This is the least celebrated/discussed rights given back to the people who complaint so much of their ‘rights’ but not about their responsibilities in the newly born country called Ceylon then. Time we walk the talk specially to those who ached on other peoples children to die for their believes/principles as one of the blogger stated before. This will also create space in the developed countries for other unfortunate ‘newly generated refugees’ from other parts of the world to occupy the developed nations and return healthy one day to their country to the needful.
This is a better way to pay tribute to the young who died for us rather than living in the west and lighting candles.
Ask the Nations Home Offices who accomadated us since 1983 onwards to review the stories given to them with regard to the reasons for the migration too. Ask Wikileaks to publish all the stories should male interesting reading.

It appears that our Democracy is saved with a touch of Hippocratic attitude.. I am not sure whether Democracy prevailed in Srilanka/Ilankai/Ceylon, during the the rule of of Sinhala and Tamil kings and the the colonial era. We learn from history that all the kings here were ‘cautiously’ concerned about the welfare of their subjects, but’ subject to the availability of power in their hands and their personal welfare most.. Once the kings felt that they lacked power, imaginary or other wise, they resorted to wars to obtain power, murdering their own brothers, fathers and their kith and kin. They fought against one another and the welfare of the people were lost sight of, similar to the recent episode from 26th.October 2018. During the colonial era too they spoke a lot on Democracy but their actions activities were at logger heads.
The estate Tamil labour was treated with contempt and thrown about like the worst of the tea dust- not fit for human consumption. When the colonial era ended in 1948 the Masters gave us a constitution devoid of adequate safeguard for the Tamils and other minorities. Even the little safe guard given was withdrawn under the guise of democracy. The Britishers vanished from the scene after passing a death sentence on Democracy.
The Constitution of the “Democratic” Socialist Republic of Srilanka gave Buddhism the ‘foremost place’ and stated ‘The official language of Srilanka shall be Sinhala” .
The so called Democratic” constitution was not Accepted by Tamils. But it appears that without the Tamils Democracy would have died an unnatural death and the obituary would have been published similar to the one published years ago in the ‘Daily News’. Unfortunately I don’t have in my possession a copy pf the said obituary to be published again ,as it will be appropriate at this time. The obituary was reproduced in the Prestigious ‘Readers Digest’ too.

If the employed/elected ie MP’s/Municipal councillors/Provincial councillors/LG refuse to perform their work I am sure you and your cabinet has the right and the DUTY to bypass them to serve the people of our Nation in the North please. The systematic deprivation of my people for this sick politics have already caused the lives of few hundred thouand of the Mother Lankan Children already……
Please send the entire TNA elected to travel the Sinhala country/Upcountry Tamils on their own unaccompanied by your party reps and securities with their families to meet the people/soldiers family/understand their grievances in the capacity as ‘Opposition party’ please and ask them to come and make party political speeches up North and East afterwards thank you. They can social media and broadcast the event too.
Ask the Muslim and TNA parties to visit each others ghettoes too so they can introduce the masses to each others elected.
I am sure the Supreme Court can help in this matter too……… People vs Elected. Is it ‘legal’ to say national question first then the economy by an elected official in a democracy please???? Kindly get the Supreme Court to comment.
Make this a regular visit by your good self and the President to appraise and KPI the elected in our country from North to South and Eat to West.
