Sri Lankan Govt Media Calls British PM Buffoon, A Bumbling Boor And Bully

Sri Lanka’s state media has referred to British Prime Minister David Cameron as a buffoon, a boor and a bully, after he issued an ultimatum about a war crimes probe against the country.

The Government’s flagship English Daily, the Daily News in its editorial yesterday said nothing short of a full apology was required from Cameron “for being, in short, the total unmitigated boor on his recent trip to Sri Lanka to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting”.

“The disrespect was palpable, but what stood out was the exceptional boorishness. From the time he landed on Sri Lankan soil, the Prime Minister played the Imperial blunderbuss. May be he didn’t have to play the role — being a Tory of the Bullingdon set, perhaps immaturity and entitlement-oriented behaviour comes naturally to him,” Daily News Editor Rajpal Abeynayake said in his editorial that have been obnoxiously critical of Government dissidents in the recent past.

The state daily said that Cameron had engaged in petty politicking during his visit and issued an ultimatum against his host head of state without “a modicum of respect for the fact that the best hospitality was afforded.”

“In many ways if his buffoonish behaviour did not have such far reaching implications, possibly, it would have been hilarious,” the deeply insulting editorial said of the British Premier.

“But the problem was that this is the Prime Minister of Britain, and though the gentlemen cannot possibly help but be the regular bumbling boor, the office he holds has ensured that he has alienated a great many Sri Lankans. An unqualified apology is in order, and we expect one to be dispatched from 10 Downing Street as soon as possible, under Prime Ministerial seal,” it said.

The editorial, if fact, is quite right. Sri Lanka is only the VENUE for CHOGM – he is not an a visit to Sri Lanka – state or otherwise. He is well out of line, especially considering the the very thin ice he is on on the justification of the Iraqi invasion and the resultant 500,000 deaths for no good reason.

Brown-nosing the the LTTE rump may pick up some votes for him but he has come out disastrously as far as the general public of the UK.

Despite of your blindness/ Sinhala fundamentalism, I should let you know one thing. Many educated, well-paid Sinhalese are leaving the country and never intend to come back. This is happening in the post-war period, which you call your golden Buddhist era. Why do Sinahelse want to go in huge number unlike in the past? It reminds me of the case when Jaffna Tamils left the peninsula during the emergence of LTTE and other Tamil militant groups. They left mainly because of LTTE and its rule over the region. Likewise, your people started leaving in huge number. It clearly says, there is gonna’ be a disaster soon. Forget about LTTE. Don’t you people want us to be eliminated, cornered, and kick off this land? You want our submission for peace and harmony. You will never attain it. And…. you will suffer the same way we did/ do, when Chinese impose the rules. Your “King” will be the last president of Sri Lanka.

The editorial is, in fact, quite right – Cameron came to attend CHOGM – Sri Lanka was only the venue. Had he been on an official visit – state of otherwise – he could possibly have made some representation. As it turned out, he was well out of line and judging by the reaction in the UK, he was roundly criticized for it in the light of the avalanche of far more important issues he is responsible for.

As for the reason for the futile invasion of Iraq and the resultant deaths of 500,000 – the official word on that report that it is still ‘being formulated’

Writing silly editorials and name calling are not going to sort out these problems. But, good for instant gratification of the gallery.

As a Sri Lankan I too was alarmed by Cameron’s colonial style threat.

Besides Sri Lanka’s one and only “King”, his gigantic family, croneis & henchemen will utterly benefit from this.

“The King” is master of playing “Heroic Lonely Cow Boy” under attack from Sri Lanka’s enemies. He has already secured a huge votes block in Sri Lanka thanks to Cameron’s stupidity.

What is more important is building a humane nation. Governed by rule of law. Where all are equal before the law.

Neither “Our King” nor colonial Cameron can deliver that Sri Lankan state, we so cherish.

Only we the Sri Lankan can deliver that. We will not be able to do that by scratching either Rajapassa’s or Camerons back.

      Cheers!

British Government MP and former Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt says it will be better for Sri Lanka if the government listens to what was being said by so many, rather than offer knee-jerk defensive responses.

In a blog post today, the MP said that the decision by Prime Minister David Cameron to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting was difficult but right, and was vindicated by the media coverage of his visit to the north of Sri Lanka, the first foreign leader to so do since 1948.

However Burt says that was just the easy part. He says it will be harden for Britain, but even more important, to work with friends of Sri Lanka to demonstrate why a positive response from Sri Lanka, driving forward the recommendations of its own Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission and tackling accountability for the past, does not denigrate ending the appalling terrorism of the Tamil Tigers but lays the base for the only serious chance of reconciliation in the future.

“It would help if Sri Lanka and its representatives actually listened to what was being said by so many, rather than offer knee-jerk defensive responses,” he concluded. (Colombo Gazette)

Never mind the name calling, and defensive actions, answer the questions thousands of Sri Lankans want up in the North, and prove David Cameron wrong, by investigating why, and how, so many are missing during the last phases of the war. No amount of name calling,or blaming everyone, who calls for investigations, can make the accusations of human rights violations, go away. You have nothing to hide, then don ‘t stall and act guilty. Cameron may be the biggest bully in the world, but that will not make the world overlook, or excuse, war crimes.

Dhkasha . All this was stage managed and pre planned . How did these Tamil people already deliver letters to David Cameron in English when they do not understand a word of English ? A brilliant opportunity for Ch 4 to film their next block buster movie. Remember this is the channel that can say who killed whom by looking at photographs .

“Remember this is the channel that can say who killed whom by looking at photographs.”

It is better than blaming the victims for their misfortunes and letting the perpetrators go scot free.

Three commissions which investigated disappearances between 1987 and 1991 of innocent ordinary people found evidences in 30,000 cases and recommended charges against the perpetrators.

Nothing had happened to criminals, not a single person has been indicted.

“chingala black monkeys suffer from an inferiority complex.”

Chingalams are closely related to your people.

In the evolutionary process when did both people branch out into two different species? If Chingala are black monkeys what do you call yourself, kalu vandura?

Tamils suffered from superiority complex until the war was lost.
Now its time for the Sinhalese to suffer from the same psychological condition as they are the victors.

Although the war has ended the ethnic genocide of the Tamils in Srilanka is going unabated. Systematic colonisation of Tamil territories are being settled with majority Sinhalese and in the absence of Sinhala civilians the Sinhala army families are being settled by the state govt. we must make the forcible distraction of one’s habitat also a crime against humanity. All the Sinhala officials who are working on these colonisation projects are also equal to the other war criminals and they must be punished as such.

The present Government is not Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka is not the present Government. We are a proud multicultural nation comprised of Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims etc.All of us should be proud to call Sri Lanka “home”, no matter where we live now. We need a Sri Lankan identity and not a Sinhalese, Tamil or Muslim identity.
Sri Lanka is not a British Colony anymore; If Mr.Cameron or anybody else tries to dictate to SL they deserve to be called a buffoon, a boor or a bully. We are a proud nation, nobody should dictate to us.
The Government should immediately appoint a credible entity to investigate all human rights abuses that took place between (1983-2013). This should be a credible independent commission.
At the same time UK, Canada , Australia, EU, India and the USA should investigate all citizens or permanent residents who contributed to the terrorist organization LTTE. These Governments should take action against those people immediately.
Mr.Cameron should first make the Chilcot Inquiry report open to the public. USA, UK should investigate all human rights violations committed in IRAQ and punish the culprits. India should investigate all HR violations committed against its own citizens. Please establish your credibility first before making allegations against other countries.
I always defend our mother nation but not Governments or individuals.
All errant individuals should be punished or pardoned. The mothers and fathers who lost their dear ones through the army or the LTTE should have closure.

I f every one including David Cameron can concentrate the crimes committed by Rajapaksa regime with their henchmans and Media guys like Rajpal afte the 2009 May, there are enough evidence to prosecute them and bring peace to Sri Lanka. The crimes they committed are many and they did all this with any regard to Law and Order.
Crimes committed during LTTE war or trying to remove the most feared terrorist group from destroying the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. Is nothing compared to what they did to Sri Lanka with the help of Media gys, bribed with laptops and food and various scholarships for their children is ample evidence.

We Singhalese and Tamils are feeding for MR Brothers to rob our welth

They know very well about Srilankans psychology. So they are manupulating things is such a way to survive.

    They are very smart guys.

We have to work opposite direction to over come this.

I am telling, if you put a Singhalese person and a Tamil person in a room for few days, they will be the best friends for ever. After all we all normal humans.

I will gurantee you singhalese and tamils can live together. No question on this.

As long as these guys (MR Brothers) are there this will never happen. They need problem for them to steal our welth.

Even god can’t solve this problem. Think smart why they are supporting the thugs. They need them to do dirty things.

We need a simple leader who can put things together.

    Am I correct??

      You are dead right.
I have lived with tamils in hostels in and out of the country. I know this is practically easy.
But so long there is no rule of law in the country, or there is no leader that would not give a place to RULE of law, LIMITING TO popular rhetorics, nothing like PEACE AND HARMONY can be the made in the country.

The extra-ordinary extremism of Rajpal and Malinda S in the respective newspapers they edit is symbolic of the desperation of our talented to indulge in mischief, they would otherwise rather not engage in. But they do so, sadly, in order to protect their source of income and the livelihood of their families in a country devastated by a galloping Cost of Living and a crashing economy. The same goes to educators, those in the judicial system, all forms of government service and many other. It is near impossible for the decent, the principled and the scrupulously honest to conduct themselves honourably in what is often
referred to as a Failed Society. Our hearts go out to all of them and to a once lively country and plural society that has lost its soul.

DC was obviously playing to the LTTE gallery with an eye on elections and votes. Just Imagine him doing the same in Russia or China. He would have been thrown out.

In breach of UN Resolutions 1970 and 1973, David Cameron has directed UK military aircraft to attack on civilian targets that resulted in the cold- blooded murder of the Gaddafi grandchildren. In doing so, Cameron had actively supported the terrorists to committed atrocities against the Libyan civilian population who are proscribed by his own country. Cameron
is no doubt a war criminal.

Mr Rajpal Abeynaike is a loutish low quality journalist.
Government controlled media in SL is bad enough, but RA is the nadir, soiling the country’s reputation immesurably. It does not matter whether you are pro or anti Rajapakse, but please grant that RA is abysmal.

    Lake House Chairman- Bandula Patmakura.

I know hime more than his wife. Ask him if he can come for a debate with me. It an be in Singhala or English

At least it didn’t call him a war monger, even though pictures of e mangled and blown up bodies of innocent civilians appear on Aljeza early News on a daily basis from Syria to Bagdad and now from Libya to Lebonon.

Boorishness and Arrogance are palatable as long as this Bullington Kid doesn’t play modern day blunderbuss on our poor inhabitants, with the help of the disgruntled Cosmoplitan Intelligentsia and their Elite mates.

“Buffoon, Bumbling Boor, Bully, Bullingdon, Blunderbuss..”. Looks like Rajpal is at his alliterative best in this post. Pity his tunnel vision didn’t allow him to see the bumbling, buffoonish, boorish behavior on the part of his sponsors when they exposed their security details to Channel 4’s journalists, as well as the ‘demonstrators’ on the rail tracks and the others who ‘demonstrated’ at Sri Kotha, etc, when ‘demonstrations’ were banned during this time. Never mind the Police looking askance – for all the world to see!

    How “Bumbling” was that?!!
