The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka vehemently condemns the terror attack on Bodh Gaya’s Mahabodhi temple, which is considered the Mecca of Buddhism and is of deep religious significance to the Buddhists of the world, says its President N M Ameen.
The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka says; “Sri Lankan Muslims are deeply saddened and dismayed at the dastardly attack on the sacred Mahabodhi temple and adjoining areas and see this as a blatant act of terrorism perpetuated by senseless individuals. We are indeed relieved that no major damage has been reported to the sacred shrine. Our prayers are with the injured for a speedy recovery.
“Terrorism in any form should not be tolerated, and attacks on places of worship are a heinous crime and should be unacceptable to any reasonable human being. The Buddhists consider the sacred Mahabodhi temple as the cradle of Buddhism and the Muslims of Sri Lanka urge the Governments of the region as well as world leaders to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly crime are brought to immediate justice.”

The sad state of humanity.. its really disheartening to see this..
a year a whole village of muslims in Burma were massacred by buddhist monks.. women children old people all were killed.. women & children were raped and massacred in the worst of forms…. it was very wrong!.. now these crimes & violence are committed against the buddhists which is equally very wrong!..
No form of violence can justify any cause! & violence like these are unacceptable in any form.. be it buddhist, muslim christian or anyone..

This act should be condemned by all right thinking people belonging any religion or even atheists. Buddha Gaya is the holiest place for Buddhists. Places of worship are what the devotees of that particular religion we holds as precious.
Attacking places of worship appears to be a common. There was an attack on dalada maligawa during our war, this was supposed to be a response for the destruction of kovils in the North. If it is justified by this, the act can go on and on.
In the recent past Christian churches and the Mosques have been attacked. This is done by so called ” Sinhala Buddhists” I think persons doing this act cannot have the label of Buddhism. It is totally against Buddhism.

Anagarika Dharmapala was a racist. He like the BBS was pouring poison out of his mouth all the time. It was Soma Thero and now the BBS and the Sinhala Ravaya. It is this poisonous fuel that is destroying the beloved country.

It is unfortunate this has happened. Remember, LTTE attacked the Temple of the Tooth and Anuradapura, as they correctly identified the Core Problem as Sinhala Buddhist Racism.
It is only a very small fraction of extremists who are vocal, but they create all the trouble, and the state aids ans abets in Burma and Sri Lanka. That is the core problem- a Law and Order Problem.
Even before BBS & Burmese Buddhist Terrorism, the Al Queda and other Islamic Terrorist groups selected Western targets to attack, due to its long history. They also attacked Shia Muslims, Sufi Muslims, Ahamadia Muslims and even Sunni Muslims on skewed Theological grounds.
The BBS and Burmese Buddhist Terrorists worked their way up, and joined the target list. Based on the Burmese Buddhist Terrorists and BBS Terrorists activities, and the reports like Time, Buddhist Terrorism is no longer an Illusion. It is real. The authorities are not taking any meaningful actions, for Law and Order, and letting the Theravada Buddhist Monks run Amok. Under this anarchy, any actions against the Buddhist Terrorist will be considered illegitimate, by their peer Terrorists.
This action, reflects the failure of the Burmese and Sri Lanka authorities to keep Law and Order and protect its Citizens.
So the counter terrorists, seem to have attacked the point of interest to the Buddhist terrorist, Bodhi Gaya. It is unfortunate, but still brings forth the fact that it was as a reprisal for he Burmese Buddhist Atrocities.

You need to read the quran in context. The verses that are often quoted by the likes of you refer to specific situations of combat/struggle DURING the period of revelation.
Eg. in the context of the final stages of battle between the LTTE and GoSL. If the outnumbered LTTE cardres under siege were issued an order to kill the sinhalese or to fight bravely for they will be rewarded in the next life – in that context, it would not be considered immoral
The Quran was essentially god’s divine guidance to the prophet during his struggle to establish Islam. I am not surprised that you non-muslims get shocked when reading these verses as it only makes sense from the point of view of a person who BELIEVES that this was divine revelation and directive given directly from God DURING and FOR those times. Today we muslims take lessons from these verses by understanding the overall context.

The way one meet problems at specific situations revel one’s true character. History shows that the so-called struggle to establish Islam are nothing but made-up situations by Muhammad. There are many ‘divine revelation’ that came pouring down for Muhammad to get out from his troubles or fix or achieve his preposterous desires such as marrying the wife of his adopted son. Otherwise why had he castigate some of God poured verses to Satan afterwards. Surly, verses by Satan couldn’t have been mistaken to that of the almighty Allah.

Which dictionary of Islam (not the Oxford Dictionary I hope)? There are many forms of Jihad, and any ‘religous war’ has its conditions if not met is forbiden.
The Bukhari Hadith goes:
“Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand.” Abu Huraira added: Allah’s Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them).”
We can squable over what “terror” means here, but you are not going to make any point.

Great majority of Buddhist are peaceful and friendly people. Their religon is the most peaceful of all religons, eschewing violence under all conditions.

I condemn this act in strong words. Religion and places of worship should be respected. Religion is a personal matter. It is mixed with emotions and feelings. Every human deserve to be respected with dignity and integrity.
