Colombo’s hopes of buying off the Tamil ‘separatist struggle’ with development may prove short-sighted
In a stand of scruffy palms a few yards from a dirt track, two brothers are building their third house in under a decade. They hope it will last longer than the others. They do not want to be identified – for fear of security agencies – but their story is a common one in Kilinochchi, a small town in northern Sri Lanka, once the capital of the de facto state run by the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

These Sri Lanka military builders also look like kids – child soldiers?! The problem is that post-war there has been JOBLESS growth.. and military business and low end tourism jobs is the Rajapassa notion of development – rather than industrial or manufacturing sector development which is productive and grows the economy..
This is because the co-called Minister of economic development, Basil Mr 10 percent is a rent seeker, with no education, or knowledge of economics or development. There is no strategic plan for real development of manufacturing and agriculture sectors. Military Business is the model and it is counter-productive to real economic development or peace in the long run..

Time has come for Armed Forces to get out of civilian life in the Northern Province or any other Province of Sri Lanka for that matter.
There is peace in Sri Lanka now. Army should be in the barracks. Nowhere else.
Please return land confiscated from civilians for military purposes.
Let people of the North live in freedom and propser with dignity.
Time will heal all wounds. Hopefully.
Cheers!

Bugger off! The Forces must stay on and govern the TNA.

Ben Hurling / October 9, 2013
TNA is a legitimate political party. Though I personally dislike their race based politics. TNA will be governed by their internal party structures.
Should they break the law, it will be dealt with by law enforcement. In line with Sri Lanka’s constitution. Not Armed forces.
The new CM Wigneswaran is a man who respects the law. Unlike many other corrupt stooges in our politics.
Armed Forces of Sri Lanka have have no significant role to play in the current peaceful Northern Province. War is over.
Please pull back to the baracks.
Cheers!

TNA has every right to preserve and protect their way of life. Racism comes into play when a group claims superiority over others ‘My way or the highway’ Tamils cannot be bought with ‘Short term gain, long term pain’ What should scare the South is the North can beat them in sustainable development.

Agree. Sinhalese racism is a big factor in Sri Lanka’s troubles.
However, if you believe Tamil racism is not a problem, you are mistaken.
How far, some Tamils are willing to go to promote violent forms of extreme Tamil ethno-nationalism was proven beyond any doubt by VP over 30 years.
Both Sinhalese and Tamils have outstanding, blood thirsty racists in their ranks.
That is the real problem we should deal with. Rest is easy.
Endless finger-pointing at each other will solve nothing. Nor will whining.
Cheers!

Ben – Humans, by nature have a tendency to react rather than respond. If any one of us are cornered and no place to turn; that’s when the sane becomes insane. Deep down we all have racist ranks to a certain extend if we are left without a choice. Life is a short journey and the one who walks with humility reaches his/her goal.

If any thing good happened to Sri Lankan Tamils that was because of PARA CHINGALA.
In Tamil nadu, LOW CASTE TAMIL DIED because they were low caste, but not in SRI LANKA, the SINHALA DESH.

Only thing that Tamils know is subjugation. Use Tamils themselves and the Casteism to oppress and subjugate them. If not, they will revolve.

Once a tiger terrorist will always be a tiger terrorist.. That’s the message Aananthi sends to the country..
She doesn’t like development.. She doesn’t like peace by dialogue.. She wants to resort to terrorism champion by her husband.. At the end, only innocent Tamil and Sinhalese people will suffer…

“Once a tiger terrorist will always be a tiger terrorist.”
You mean a dead tiger is a good tiger.
What is the message KP, Karuna, Pillayan, and many other former Tiger operatives now in employment with Ministry of Defence send to you?
