Sri Lanka’s Weapons Of Mass Deception – Rajapaksa Machinery

By Vishwamithra

“One’s days were too brief to take the burden of another’s errors on one’s shoulders. Each man lived his own life and paid his own price for living it.” ~Oscar Wilde

Mahinda Rajapaksa and his clan have fine-tuned that aspect of political dynamic that could be solely responsible for delivering an ailing political entity into super-action mode and achieve the results that such an action desired. This fine-tuning of the Rajapaksa-propaganda machinery did not take place yesterday when they are in the Opposition. They have achieved or they thought they have achieved years ago, that lofty goal of mass deception and political hoodwinking so that they could be in power forever. Yet they failed. Vexing of the masses to such an intolerable extent has its own inherent disadvantages. What appears on the shallow surface does not necessarily happen to be deep enough to make the gullible masses suffer to an unending degree.

Nevertheless, the current euphoria they have artificially created about a sibling of Mahinda Rajapaksa and the accompanying message that he would be the next Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming Presidential Elections in 2015 will not hold any water come the day of reckoning. Their lies and exaggerations have to be met with facts, figures and statistics. Facts are not figments of imagination of some wishful-thinking activists; figures cannot be distorted and statics don’t lie. A phony image created around a demonic political character cannot and should not last, at least for the sake of our nation’s staunch commitment to democracy and freewill. That phony bubble will burst; it’ll shrink and disappear but it would not happen automatically. It must be made to happen by human hand. And that human hand can be provided only by the United National Party (UNP).

Almost all the alleged atrocities committed by the Rajapaksa regime could be attributed to this particular member of the Rajapaksa family. Some of the alleged atrocities amount to murders in broad daylight; some amount to abduction and torture of journalists; some amount to spraying bullets on protesters whose sole demand was cleaner water; some amount to violation of fundamental human rights; all possible human right violations have been alleged against this individual and now they, the so-called Viyathmaga (path of intellectuals) are paying pooja to this individual hallucinating about a return to chaotic rule of the Rajapaksas when all of the above outrages were deliberately committed in order for them to remain in power and ransack the country’s coffers and treasures. The carnage of the people’s rights is not an option for a civilized nation.

The hallucination on the part of the now-defeated Pohottuwa politicos will continue their selfish and utterly destructive politricks unless and until a sufficiently motivated group of counter-organizers band themselves together and stop this sacrilegious wolf that comes in sheep’s clothing. It is only possible; it is more of a national urgency that these leftovers of the Rajapaksa era are made politically immobile forever by all means available within the frame of democracy and human rights. Their donors must be approached; their so-called intellectuals and academics must be met at debates and present counterpoints to each and every demented point and arguments they make; their frontrunners and grassroots supporters, if any, must be converted to more humane, reasonable and sensible men and women. It is no easy task. The propaganda machine, their ‘weapons of mass deception’ are much more potent and sharp than what the UNP has managed to deploy as at present.

In such a dangerous scenario, the government must be objective, detached and aloof of politics. But the UNP as a political party, with its newly resuscitated politburo with a new and charismatic National Organizer (Navin Dissanayake), should be able to launch a robust public relations campaign. If the party leader is not ready, then disregard his un-readiness; the officials of the party have inherent duties and responsibilities to take action without creating divisions within the party framework. A scrupulously defined and vigorously activated campaign of positive image-building, party-branding and professionally crafted messaging need to be paid attention to.

If a coalition candidate, Maithripala Sirisena, backed by the anti-Rajapaksa majority in the country coupled with an overwhelming bulk of minority voters against Mahinda Rajapaksa, the most difficult-to-defeat person of the Rajapaksa family, could emerge victorious, a clean and charismatic candidate from the United National Party stands more than a fighting chance to gain victory at the next Presidential Elections in 2020. What is essential is a strategic view of the whole operation and excruciatingly diligent execution with the right people on ground to operate a campaign.

Where do you find such candidates or a candidate? Navin Dissanayake, the charismatic current national organizer and Sajith Premadasa, Deputy Leader of the UNP are qualified, experienced and transparent leaders whom the electorate would accept as alternatives to the Rajapaksa clan. There is no such second-tier leader among the siblings of the Rajapaksas. Financial cleanliness should be a manifest characteristic of an acceptable leader. In a sea of corruption, nepotism and naked corruption, it is quite hard to find one without a murmur of these ignoble traits. However, subject to future findings, both Sajith and Navin stand out as ‘clean’ among the potential candidates for the prize of Presidency. Could they endure a gut-wrenching and vicious vitriol of the Mahinda-led opposition? Can either of them withstand the born-again merchants of corruption who now appear before the public as saviors of the country’s treasury which they themselves pilfered when they were the switch-holders of the government machinery? These poachers of the people’s will should be stopped now. Because this government failed to do so when they had a better than good chance at the beginning of their term in 2015, the urgency of the matter is even more exaggerated and compelling.

These questions will have to be answered in the coming few months. It is inevitable that more and more exigencies would emerge as a result of transparency and accountability facilitated by the current administration, as against the last one which advocated a policies for a closed society as was evidenced in countries run by dictators and military personnel,  and the unhindered interest shown by the social and formal media.

The weight and burden of leadership is very heavy. Some leaders manage to carry it with stoicism and detachment while others stumble because of the sheer heaviness of it. Greatness dwells in those who carry it without a murmur of complaint; they have chosen to carry that weight and they are prepared for the consequences; those who complain and choose to lay the blame on his or her colleagues and other bedfellows will fall by the wayside. History is filled with these charlatans who had happened to be there when the time arose whole those who succeed as great leaders are the ones who pursued to carry that weight.

Human life is hard; no one will give power to you; you have to pursue it and get it. The charms of power might try to benumb you for a moment or two, yet you have to carry on regardless remembering that the power you carry on your shoulders has enormous responsibility and a strong sense of duty intrinsically residing within that it. Both Sajith Premadasa and Navin Dissanayake have to show that they have not only the desire to hold power; they need to remember the sense of duty and responsibility of that power.

It seems all the current politicians have got some skeletons in their cupboards. If a CLEAN politician exists in SL, he/she should come forth with[ and spill out what their plans to bring SL out of the hell hole]to become the next President of SL.
We the SRI LANKAN DEFINITELY, do not want Rajapaksa clan/Sirisena/ Ranil.W .

Sri Lanka belongs to ARYAN SINHALESE, we all know who is the real KALLATHONIES, before the Independent and after the independent Sinhalese Country robbed by TAMILS, this is well-known secret also. After the Independent of Sri Lanka each and every government departments, more than 80% Tamils. For example, all the Government Hospitals 95% Doctors are Tamils. Thank Mrs Sirima Bandaranayake who turn the table. More than 95% Customs department were Tamils. The wealth of the Sinhalese land robbed by Tamils. Tamils who robbed Sinhalese wealth and migrated to Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, France, Germany, UK, Australia and New Zealand also. This is well-known secret also

Has Vishwa already written off Dr Ranil ?……Aney pow..
Now the talk of the Town is what the self claimed Mr Clean with the Wig said in Parliament about his UNP mates.
Aloysious paid them not only Millions
Aloysious also supplied them with Ukranian Sex Workers…
It is not politically correct to call them Prostitutes.
I heard a few of Dr Ranil’s Heavy Weight Ministers suffer severe Back Spasms.
May be they are not Sex Workers either.
They are just Pain Relief Masseuers.
BTW how about Mr Ranjan Ramanayaka as the UNP Candidate…

One thing I agree is it is very hard defeat rajapaksas by below mentioned reasons. 1.rajapaksha and their modern slfp which was launched by rajapakshas is the largest single party in srilankan history holding closer to 46% of the srilankan votes. 2.This party is the top level capitalist party ever formed in srilanka with the support of the entire business community , top level capitalist, 90% of upper middle class(we saw this business community & the top level capitalist in shangrila. 3.modern slfp is the party converted the 20 billion mixed janasaviya economy of jr ,premadasa or chandrika in to 80 billion USD super capitalism in just 10 years. 4. They are the architects of modern srilanka with high tec infrastructure and urban development. 5.This capitalist party owns the support of entire government mechanism and private media. 6.This party has a reputation as good administrators ,managers anchetects for huge business economy and well known as good for business. 7.bad side of this party is they are very tough rulers (not like innocent unp governments )Dictators ,Authontorians, etc . 8. The main weakness of the anti rajapaksha forces are if they divided rajapaksas are the easy winners In any election since unp as a party only has 23% vote base as alliance with Muslim congress, badudeen, digambaram & hela urumaya they can go for 31% as they have done In local government election. 9. Unp as alliance with the candidate of sajith or navin even very hard to compete with modern slfp of rajapaksas and their top level super capitalism economic policy. 10. Finally if anti rajapaksha parties want to contest against modern slfp first they have to come together as one alliance with JVP and TNA. They have to introduce new ecomic model against the super capitalism of modern slfp to attract at least one million Sinhalese floating votes. Other than this sitting in a side and crying and blaming rajapaksas and try to compare a small parties like unp or JVP with the top level capitalist party the modern slfp is point less.

Both will be severely disadvantaged by their farthers’ sins. Ravin of Jaffna library and Sajith of 89′ Bheeshanaya.
However the anti Rajapaksa camp may still pull it out with ALL the Tamil votes and ALL the Muslim votes as Dr Kumar David has recently demonstrated. In order to achieve this critical outcome further INTENSIFICATION of ethnic/religious animosity is critically important. With this devilish strategy unashamedly deployed by the likes of Vishvamitra any hope of ‘reconciliation’ will be permanently laid to rest by the end of this election – win or lose. This of course is a godsend opportunity for racist Tamils as reconciliation is the very antithesis of separatism.
My question is can the Muslim community whose majority live in Sinhala majority areas afford to be fooled by this dangerous game plan and thereby completely alianating themselves from the Sinhala Buddhist majority for centuries to come. If I were a Muslim I would think not twice but hundred times.
I am a Sinhala Buddhist and will vote for Rajapaksa if ALL the minorities are going to be hanged up against Rajapaksa.
With memories of Jaffna library, July 83 and 89′ Bheeshanaya I will never ever vote for UNP.

    Soma.

The power of unp government led by Jr or premadsa is 1000 time smaller than the Mahinda rajapakshas modern slfp power.unp never created a dictator and super power president like Mahinda rajapaksha and unp never formed a super power government like modern slfp governments formed by Mahinda after 2005.Because of super power presidency Mahinda won the war.and weak unp and chandrikas slfp government s fail to do.when compare with the super power government of mahindas modern slfp the Jr ,premadasas unp governments are utterly powerless pathola governments.so there is valid point of be get scared for modern slfp governments of Mahinda since obviously they are dictators.but the excellent side of modern slfp government is their economic management and the architecture of their super capitalism ,high class business enviorment ,high standard life style for middle class. For unp they are very are innocent governments comparing with tough superpower modern slfp governments but they are not aware and weak how to handle a top level business capital economies, if unp comes the business will drop, economy will collapse they will be starvation, no food , middle class will lose their life style . but unp is not superpower like slfp governments so there will be a democracy.but slfp government comes their super powers the democracy level is very law but they very good for economic management.but now people are very selfish that us why they are choosing mahindas slfp always.

“I am a Sinhala Buddhist and will vote for Rajapaksa if ALL the minorities are going to be hanged up against Rajapaksa.”

We know you are a noisy Sinhala/Buddhist and you need not to advertise the fact that you are one.

If UNP proved to be anti minority in competitive future racist races and promised to hurt the minority more than SLFP I am sure you would not mind switching your democratic loyalty to UNP and the gang.

Competitive racism works very well in this island.

By the way the army and police that killed innocent people in 1971 continued to kill in 1987/90 and killed over 30 years.

NAtive Vedda: Ranil is ultra libera right wing. He and Mangala Samaraweera, CBK is off track these days, because her son is not becoming the SLFP leader, are making, a country living 100% on imports want everything in the to be prepared to be sold and Ranil needs more Free trade agreements which will make srilankan lose jobs. He doe snot think because of the job loss caused by every being imported.
Army and Police kill because of the govt orders. the killings were pathetic. LTTE were not tortured that way.

The President and Prime minister has a duty to honour their promises when they asked for a mandate to govern this nation. They promised that there will be an investigation into the crimes committed during the previous regime. There were lot of serious allegations against previous regime and so far there is nothing done partcularly on the corruption and misuse of state funds and misuse of power. It was an open robbery and open murders. People need answers from those who govern the nation. The prime minister and the president should tell us (the public)Why you have not taken action to investigate those crimes committed by previous regime? Why you both are silent now? We need answers? Public should demand answers for those questions from both where ever they go and whenever they face public.

      Ajith
Both have been politicians within our system for the last 30 years. Strangely you guys seem to assume that Rajapaksa government is the only government that has existed before. Ranil has to explain the Jaffna library, July 83 , 89′ Bheeshanaya and the traitorous RW-VP pact along with the bond scam, just to name a few, before he justifies serious action against Rajapaksa. As for Sirisena he was with Rajapaksa for the whole period for which you have all these alegations. ( https://youtu.be/8-4aDbeSgzA ) You may come and go. But Ranil and Sirisena have to accomodate the posibility of Rajapaksa coming to power again. Also remember that majority Sinnhala Buddhists voted for Rajapaksa not withstanding the massive propaganda campaign against him funded by war losers. Whoever expected Ranil and Sirisena to honour those promises? Ajith, trying to fool others is one thing, fooling yourself is quite another.
      Soma.

“Also remember that majority Sinnhala Buddhists voted for Rajapaksa”

        1. Can you prove it?
2.He didn’t have even 1 vote majority in order to claim his crown.
3.Whats your problem? The problem I see is the absence of VP who would otherwise have helped the crook to win the elections.
        4. You may be in love with MR which could not be good reason for you to expect rest of the country to follow suit and fall in love with him. Don’t you think love for a politician is a irrational thing.
        5. You should be reading poetry to your great grand children.

Col Dr Gota was part of 6 man hit squad responsible for many disappearances, including Matale skeleton in the pit between 1987 and 1990.

There isn’t much difference between UNP and SLFP when it comes to hurting minorities, or innocent people starting from 1915 to 2015, including 1958 and 1971.

You should cover your holes when you selectively type something that does not tell the full story. You cannot opt out from rest of the sad stupid contemporary story of this island.

Lol! the UNP government can’t relocate two elephants from Sinharaja, and this bugger is talking about winning 2020. utter comedy!

i don’t know who the author is trying to fool by writing a one sided analysis. in 2020, people will judge this government based on its actions and it has failed miserably. That is it. Gota represents a practical effective alternative to the quagmire of incompetence that is “yahapalanaya”.

I mean what on earth can the UNP run on for 2020? They can’t say Hora hora, which was their biggest slogan in 2015. All they can do is accuse Gota of being tyrant and racist. Unfortunately, the jathiwadia slogan is also quite weak now given the digana incident and moreover how Mahinda and Gota have maneuvered themselves back into the Muslim community. Please take note that Aluthgama/Beruwala was won by SLPP in the 2017 election. And that was before digana and iftar.

Also, Sajith and Navin must be idiots to run in 2020. they’re both in their late 40s/early 50s. They can wait until 2025, where they will have a much better chance of winning. 2020 will most likely be Ranil or another contrived common candidate, or MS! ROFLMAO!

Ajith: You said and asked: “The Prime Minister and the President should tell us (the Public) why you have not taken action to investigate the crimes committed by the previous regime. Why you both are silent?” The simple answer, already proved correct is: That BOTH you referred to (President & PM) have committed and are in the process of committing equal and/or more weighted crimes as those committed by the previous regime. They (the previous and the present regime) have cut a DEAL to live in peace; but at the same time to “Stage” a road show of enmity every now and then.

The disgraced CEO of ‘Cambridge Analytica’, a market & information analysis company, which claims to have master minded Trump’s political campaign, was caught on camera a few months ago by an undercover investigator of Channel 4 News, stating that ‘elections are won on emotions & not facts’. Incidentally, the undercover reporter pretended to be representing a wealthy family in SL with political ambitions, & CA, no doubt making the necessary background checks, took the bait & revealed to the undercover reporter the tricks of the trade that would enable their clients to win elections.

This is very true in SL, particularly, after the extremely poor performance by a coalition, which came to power promising reforms & much more. To the average man on the street, the Rajapakses are still the saviours of the Sinhala race & Buddhism, while the allegations of massive corruption, mismanagement of public funds & resources, terror & intimidation, all of which are yet to be proved, are of no concern. Just as Goebbels did for Nazi propaganda, the Rajapakse PR machine, no doubt, will convince the masses that they are the best to govern the country once again.

As for Vishwamithra’s choice of Sajith or Navin, I am sceptic, particularly, when it comes to Premadasa jnr. He has been in politics long enough but so far, has not made any significant contribution, apart from (apparently) doling out money (whose money I wonder?) to build Buddha statues in every street corner. Premadasa Snr.’s vision, probably due to his lack of education, was in the short term & have come to nothing, while Gamini Dissanayaka can be credited with some achievements to his name but both have questionable records, which even border corruption. Premadasa jnr & Dissanayaka jnr both have yet to show their credentials, instead of riding on their respective fathers’ popularity but at the end of the day, I won’t be surprised that it will be emotions that decide the fate of the elections.

vishvamithra: Your character certificates for both NAvin dissnanayake and Sajjith Pemadasa are outstanding. So, the bond Scam profit sharing. Now Sumansekara says Arjun Aloesius provided private maagases by Ukranian young women for those who shared profits, Bankrupt Sri lankan air lines continues to be managed by a similar management appointed by a politician.
FYI, Rajapakses will win not because they are outstanding politicians. They know the tricks in the books. The country doe snot have any options. Existing politicians will not allow a trustworthy and a capable group of politicians to come forward.
Some a PROTEST VOTE AND ALSO A REJECTION VOTE OF THE YAHAPALANA GOVT WILL DECIDE THE OUTCOME. DON’T THINK IT IS BECAUSE THE OPPOSING PARTY OF THE YAHAPALANAYA WILL BE OUTSTANDING, VISIONARY, AND NATIOLISTIC POLITICIANS. THEY ARE COMING TO FATTEN THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS FOR BIT MORE AND TO PROTECT THEIR FORMER INVESTMENTS. fcid/did not catch means nothing. They both did good work but the system is set up to be fraudlent. Anyway Ranil never selelct anyone more intelligent than him and ranil passed only grade nine.
