K. Pushpakumar alias Iniyapaarathi took oath in front of Governor, Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama as a new Member of Eastern Provincial Council on June 11, 2014 at the Governor’s Secretariat in Trincomalee.
He is a man who has been accused of war crimes by the United Nations for forced arms training to children. And also accused by the public for playing a key role in the abductions and disappearances of several people in Poththuvil, Akkaraippattu, Thirukkovil and Vinaayakapuram in the Ampara district of the Eastern Province.
Iniyapaarathi is a lead operative of the paramilitary group led by Vinayagamoorthy Muralidharan alias Karuna who currently holds a Ministerial post in the Rajapaksa government. He is also the Ampara District Coordinator for President Rajapaksa.

whether it is an order or whether it is just approval that was sought from prbha for what karuna wanted to do,is what should be investigated. karuna was running the east quite autonomously,so i believe it was the latter that could have happened.He could have decided to kill the policemen and just asked for the approval from prabha just as a formality in order not to undermine him.
Even if you are following orders it is the way you do it that counts.If you are following orders with relish then you are as guilty as the person giving the orders.At that time i did not see any reluctance or subsequent remorse on the part of karuna.
The same can be said of the killings of babies and their mothers and the muslims massacred in the mosque.In this case i doubt whether even karuna would have bothered to ask prabha to order because we all know that prabha also was as inhuman as karuna.
In the case of the policemen he may have asked prabhas permission because of premedasa’s involement in the issue.However it is to be seen whether he carried out the massacre with relish or reluctance.Hitlers henchmen,example himmler, also carried out many of his orders with relish and should be held equally responsible for those acts,though real soldiers like Rommel showed their distaste for these acts of killing jews and slavs as subhumans.
Both karuna and prabha are the same coldblooded ruthles inhuman brothers in blood,but now one has become a saint for the sinhalese just because he helped in getting rid of the other and the other one has always been a devil. Prabha was right when he said that sinhalese have short memories,and we can see that here where they are not interested at all in getting justice for their victims.

Why are we surprised of this appointment? When the person who was supposed to have ordered the killing of those who carried white flags and also the young son of Prabaharan is today the Defence Secretary (accused of war crimes – only accused not proven yet), and other diplomats who were negotiating with LTTE to surrender with white flags and those top soldiers who were directly involved in the war are today holding high positions in the UN Sri Lankan office, are still holding those positions why should we be surprised that an ex LTTE guy has been appointed as a member of the PC.
