India’s magnanimous and magnificent gift of a modern hospital at Dickoya built at a cost of 1,200 million Sri Lankan rupees is an act that should put all Muslim parliamentarians and their Arab backers in shame. Although the hospital is located within the Hatton-Dickoya urban council area in the Nuwara Eliya Disrtrict, where the Indian Tamil community is heavily concentrated, yet, it is a gift to the nation as a whole and not to a particular community. The gift also represents the success of a people oriented Indian diplomacy, even though it will ultimately help India reap maximum economic and geostrategic benefits from Indo-Sri Lankan relations.
Since the end of the civil war in 2009 in which India’s covert support to Sri Lanka’s military manoeuvres made the Sinhalese army’s victory against the LTTE easier, India’s overall image in Sri Lanka and particularly within the majority community has become friendlier. The psychological fear that the Sinhalese elite carried for centuries over a threatening South Indian Tamil invasion completely evaporated after the war thanks partly to the role of Delhi and partly to the ineptitude of LTTE leadership. Indo-Lanka relations have improved tremendously since 2009 and Prime Minister Modi’s timely gift of this hospital will certainly cement that relationship. At the same time one should not forget the basic truth in international relations that behind all acts of altruism there is always the national interest. India cannot be an exception to this rule. As Jawaharlal Nehru said in a speech shortly after India’s independence, “We may talk about international goodwill and mean what we say. But in the ultimate analysis, a government functions for the good of the country it governs and no government dare do anything which in the short or long run is manifestly to the disadvantage of that country.”
While India’s gift for the moment will go a long way to improve not only Indo-Lankan relations but also, as one of its side effects, Sinhalese-Tamil relations the Muslim community’s image since the end of the civil war on the other hand has taken a negative turn. In spite of all Muslim parliamentarians allying themselves with the ruling regime and with several amongst them achieving ministerial status with all its embedded prestige, remuneration package and perks, the anti-Muslim feeling in the country is growing by the day. The irony of it is that all these Muslim ministers and their Muslim parliamentary colleagues are proudly trumpeting what a close relationship that they have managed to cultivate with the ruling regimes of rich Arab nations in the Gulf and to the benefit of Sri Lanka. One of these ministers has even gone all out to redesign the urban infrastructural make up of his constituency by planting date palms along the street so that it resembles an Arab town. It is time to stop and rethink about this vainglorious strategy and assess the damage it is doing to inter-ethnic relationship in Sri Lanka.
On the one hand Arab investment is flowing into the island but in what form and to whose benefit? It is coming to build hotels and other tourist resorts to enrich ultimately the foreign investors. Already there is protest against such ventures. On the altruistic side, Arabs have built homes for some of the tsunami victims aimed only at Muslims, funded a number of mosques and madrasas and even helped Muslim students with scholarships to go and study in Arab capitals. All this are purely Muslim focused and not focused on the nation as a whole. Have the Arab countries built and donated so far one single hospital or a nurses training centre, university or a technical institute so that all communities in Sri Lanka can benefit? What a difference would such a gift make to ameliorate the worsening Sinhalese-Muslim relations in the country? The Muslim parliamentarians should bury their head in shame at what India has done in Dickoya.
Muslim leadership lacks a long term vision about their own community as well as the country. Instead of helping the Muslims to integrate and be a dynamic partner in building Sri Lanka this leadership is actually damaging the future survival of Muslims. Sooner they are thrown out better for the country and future generations of Muslims.

I wrote a full comment. You picked only two questions to answer. But you have answered them either. But you are trying to hang on Wikipedia. You know where I from am. Don’t cut and paste me Wikipedia on that.
But let me clarify something for you:
1. In 1957 ITAK got passed a bill even if a private temple, the owner cannot deny entrance for one because of his/her caste. So in Ceylon anyone can go to any Hindu temple. That is why C.Suntharalingam lost his court case in Maviddapuram. Please read that about 10 times because it is not Wikipedia. After 10 times continue to read. Because, I am going to condition the employment of that bill, in the next passage.
That bill is not used to challenge the position of a Brahmin. That is only challenging the position of Vellala, even though it is not explicitly telling that. Vellalas do not seek redress or retribution under that law. Practically Vellalas and others are not challenging Brahmins’ position. . All temple entries are only about Vellalas status. Even in New York like, London like Western Temples, a Brahmin area is prevented from Vellala to all. Even if a White or Black Prime Minister or President Visits a temple, their maximum status is only like Vellalas. For my understanding challenging Brahmin’s seat is only available in Tamil Nadu. There they teach for some sectors 100% Dravidian (Tamil) prayers. So in those temples, there is no need for Brahmins. Brahmin’s is the segregation comes from latter days Hinduism. We have written this 10,000 times repeatedly in CT; but it is not going into you racist head. I know you don’t have capacity to understand that complication. You know only simple Ayatollahs and Govigamas.

Sinhalese does not have Brahmin (Varna) system because they are carrying forward what Tamils earlier in Ceylon before they left out with their new language had called Sinhala. Once the Hindu Varna system came into North-east, (around Cholas time) they brought some (very few) Brahmin families from TN and/or Kerala. But they are employees of Vellala or even by lower castes, if the ownership of that temple is with lower caste. Other than Jaffna/Batticaloa, the temples are mainly owned by Brahmins and they don’t work for lower Varna. So in Jaffna system, Brahmins doesn’t rule; Brahmin does not come into caste abolition. They will be remaining as who they are.
As you know, no castes oppress Vellalas. But Vellalas are capable of oppressing others. Brahmins don’t oppress anybody in North. Nobody bothers them (Don’t include here if some rowdies has annoyed a Brahmin family; that is not Varna based). But their status them is not challenged in caste ablution. In the North, it is mentally and culturally agreed that Vellala will respect Brahmins – but no coercion flow from opposite direction to demand it. Say that when you were in school, you next door man was your teacher at school. So naturally you developed a respect for that man though there were other big guns were in your area. That respect stays in you even if the teacher lost the control on you, after moved out of the school. Even if you become rich and famous, you still will be calling him sir, but not by first name. That is the relationship between the Vellalas and Brahmins in north. So, under those circumstances, Vellalas are never going to ask a court to equal them with Brahmins. So just don’t read idiots Mahindapala and Izeth and foolishly keep repeating here those like broken gramophone record.

What they two are writing here is, not in North. To come to know, discuss it with a Northern Vellala friend of how its work there.
Vellala is the last Varna class in Hinduism. But all other Saathi(Jathi) comes beneath them. But Saathi is the division North and South (Sinhalese) had for the last 5,000 years.
So let us summarize it, if you have got it.
a. Temple entry agitations or protests in North are about challenging the Vellalas’ position. It has nothing to do with the position of Brahmin.
b. Northern Brahmin families are employed by other castes for about 95 %( only arbitrary) , So they don’t rule anybody in the North-East. Only Ceylon labor laws can protect them.
but
c. In the North-East, a Brahmin’s position is not challenged in temple, even by the temple owner. (In other words, the owner’s access is controlled by Brahmin employee, and owner is 100% dependent on Brahmin to reach the statutes rooms; owner has no access to statues rooms.)
You don’t read this real situation in Wikipedia.
Then again don’t go by Mahindapala systems and keep repeating Brahmin Vellala… Brahmin Vellala….. Mahindapala’s system is nowhere in the North. There might be about two more castes in between a Vellala and Brahmin. There might be about 7-8 castes in between Vellala and Kavirayar. But there are Kariyarra family treat them even higher than Vellalas and they do not eat or drink in Vellalas’ houses. I don’t know about Pirapaharan. But I know his family is not fishing Karaiyar(the lowest Karaiyars). So, if he is not above to Vellala, still his families might have been behaving equal with Vellalas. In other words, practically there is little chance Piraphaharan’s family had faced caste oppression.

Why can’t the Vellsahala give up their Hindu Scripture based Castism, and Racism and liberate the 50% of the Tamils who are suppressed and discriminated by you castists and racists. The Vellahalas had no empathy for them as well as the up country Indian Tamils.

Jaffna Tamils are not as casteist as the Sinhalese as they will accept a non Hindu or a non Vellalar as their leader, however the Sinhalese will only accept Buddhist Govigamma as their leaders.
As for the Indian origin estate Tamils many times the Jaffna Tamils tried to settle them in the Tamil areas, however every time they did this, the Sinhalese racists led by the Sri Lankan government and armed forces used to forcibly deport them back to the central highlands to live in dire poverty as indentured slaves.
The irony is Indian origin Tamils who were Sri Lankan citizens were not allowed to settle in Tamil areas, as the government wanted these lands to settle out of area Sinhalese and at times Muslims. As they wanted to change the demography of the historic Tamil north and east. Indian origin Tamils settling in the north and east will strengthen the Tamil presence and the government did not want this. Further they wanted these Indian origin plantation Tamils to live in the estates in dire poverty without any rights and earn the country its foreign exchange. By moving to the north and east and getting land these hardworking people will only improve themselves their community and the position of all the island’s Tamils and that cannot be allowed.

Recently, when the Saudi king visited, Malaysia Saudi ArmCo announced it would jointly with Petronas of Malaysia build an oil refinery in Johor next to Singapore with an investment of US$7B. All of them are doing lot of work in African countries apart from their huge investments in developed world. Saudis recently put US$ 50B into SoftBank of Japan and US$ 1.5B in Uber. I do wonder what our leaders are doing, and all our ambassadors in those countries are sleeping or minding their private businesses. It is not something like Lankawe pay $1.4 Billion for Hangbangtota harbor and China construct a harbor for $1.4 Billion. That was the only simple reasons Old Royals rejected. But, as per Colombo media, they co-invest with Chidambaram, Karunanidhi and Sonia so they wouldn’t like to lose that partnership under normal circumstance. So all the article that “only Ranil is selling but Old King didn’t” is only bogus. They sold to China many unredeemable properties which carry the Lankawe’s sovereignty with them.

Tamil women wear the saree and even if the low castes were not allowed to wear blouses, they used to cover their boobs and the upper part of their body very modestly and very well , with their Mudania or Pallav. Unlike the low caste Sinhalese and Kerala women who only wore a cloth.
