By Colombo Telegraph –
” It is not correct. When we were fighting the war we met them ambassadors – the US Ambassador, the Indian High Commissioner, they came to my office almost every week or every other week and discuss with us. They were also following what was going on. They didn’t have anything against the war. India openly said that it had never tolerated the LTTE. It had no objection in eliminating the LTTE. Other countries had banned the LTTE. Unfortunately the Indian High Commissioner did not handle the situation properly. Even our people were having other relationships with them; giving priority for good times in the evening without discussing the national issue.” says Sarath Fonseka.
Fonseka made above remarks when asked; “the Government claims that the international community is against them for eliminating terrorism in the country. Is that true?” by Daily FT.
Responding to the question; “A common cry of the Government is that the sections of LTTE with the support of the international community are trying to topple the Government. If you eliminated the LTTE, how can there be remaining sections? Or have you not gotten rid of the LTTE completely?” by Daily FT journalist Chamitha Kuruppu he said; “We basically eliminated the LTTE locally. There were sympathisers outside the country. Such sympathisers could approach certain elements. Then there are other issues such as after the war, certain areas were not looked after properly. People were victimised and not taken care of by this Government. A couple of days ago some politicians in Kilinochchi were attacked. What is the Head of State doing? He has failed in his duties. In such a situation, any section can take the upper hand and they will try to push through. When the situation in the country is volatile, these elements try to take advantage of it.”
“Look at the attacks on the Muslim shops. What is this Government doing? Now they say that they have come to an agreement and the matter is settled. It is not that the matter is settled, whoever who were behind these need to be punished. How can someone does so much damage and say they have come to a settlement? People can’t take the law into their hands.”
“Some organisation has said that they have stopped the activities because the Defence Secretary had interfered. That means when they do these activities, the Defence Secretary advised them equally. When someone is appearing on behalf of Sinhalese or Buddhists sincerely, how can you stop what you are doing just because the Defence Secretary asked you to do so? We can clearly see that this tyrannical rule is everywhere. The only problem is that people are scared to talk about these things. But I very well know everyone will agree with what I say.”
He also said; “I am also challenging the President. He is scared to face me face-to-face in the political field; that is why he has done this. I challenge him; if he has even half an inch of backbone, he should be able to give me my civic rights and fight me in the political field face-to-face. We will apply pressure and see – the whole world will be behind us. We will save the country from those who are messing it up. We will overcome these obstacles.”

Are you upset that General Fonseka beat the crap out of VP?

You elect him and you see his color and you find he will be no different. Particularly someone hailing from military background, they will never be able to see what is real democracy. This is true all over world, hence his speaking with concern for civilian is nothing but crocodile tears!

So..shall we maintain the “Status Quo” for all eternity then?
Let us get rid of the defeatist mentality. You want grand children to grow up in Rajapassa Utopia? Consider North Korea/Kim dynasty as well then.
Words and promises given by General Fonseka are far more reliable. Just look at his record.
We have to try General Fonseka as the leader to kick Rajapassa out. And restore Sri Lanka’s dignity. Rule of law, democracy etc.
If we don’t try, we don’t even have a chance. We must try.

If the legal system should be back to the lanken system, people should elect SF for the country ^s leader. He is the most disciplined, personality that the ISLAND nation owns to fight the all forms of corruption rebuilding a lawful nation in the post war sessions. One should not need to have 40 years long political experience, if the candidates are honest and respecting country^s law. In many countries in Europe, regardless of them being politicians or their off springs/ siblings, the law should be handled equally to all. That will be done only by SF in srilanka.

Quoting from the article:
““Look at the attacks on the Muslim shops. What is this Government doing? Now they say that they have come to an agreement and the matter is settled. It is not that the matter is settled, whoever who were behind these need to be punished. How can someone does so much damage and say they have come to a settlement? People can’t take the law into their hands.”
which leader in the country made any single statement about the attacks on the Muslim shops ?
SF is fearless and would not want to second anyone but rule of law. That is what I like in him. So long current rulers are in power, nothing like RULE of LAW will be reintroduced to the system. People would not take the serious either.

General Fonseka is in effect, Sri Lanka’s De Facto opposition leader.
Fonseka leads from the front. Direct and fearless.
Official Opposition is nowhere to be seen. Corrupted. Busy doing internal bickering for years now. They have abandoned Sri Lanka’s helpless population for personal agendas.
General’s stance on current wave of hate mongering against Sri Lanka’s Muslims could not be misunderstood by anyone. He will implement the law against those who attack minorities of Sri Lanka.
While Gota, MR and their cronies do the exact opposite. Hoping to gain cheap political mileage.
Looks like Fonseka has made a rapid transition from 40 years of military thinking to civilian politics. He does not seem to be so crude anymore in his comments. Looks more wise politically.
If given good guidance and advice by truly patriotic experts, Fonseka may just be the one to chase out the Rajapassa clan from Temple Trees. A cherished dream for millions of Sri Lankans.
That is why the regime imprisoned him, took away his pension, seeks to arrest his son-in-law. Scrapped his civil rights. Stole his seat in the Parliament via a Kangaroo court. Please note Duminda Silva is still a MP in the same Parliament, after murdering 4 people in broad daylight.
Rajapassa clan is scared and worried about General’s potential. They are scared of nobody else.
I am truly worried about Fonseka’s security in this setting. He must take the threat to his life very seriously. Fate of Janaka Perera and Benazir Bhutto is still a fresh memory.
We live in a violent country governed by evil people.

Sarath Fonseka’s past statement to the effect that Sri Lanka belongs to the Sinhalese will put off a lot of the secular Sinhalese and the minorities from supporting him although the tamils supported him in the last elections when implored by the TNA to do so. His present statements on the issue of anti muslim and anti tamil actions by some Sinhala and state sponsored groups, although appearing to be genuine, may be political gimmicry. On all accounts Sarath Fonseka is a viable and credible opponent to dethrone Rajapaksa by the Sinhala vote bank alone but the chances of defeating Rajapaksa by democratic means in the foreseeable future is pretty poor. The man will stay put with the powers of Jillmart and the military.

Hi General, I would like to still address you as General because I think the government of Sri Lanka has not be fair to you. Having said that, I too have my own reservations about your intentions. If you truly believe that you are the leader who can change the direction of Sri Lanka and you honestly believe that you are not an opportunist who is trying to take revenge, but to bring about equal democratic rights to all Sri Lankans, then you should publish an action plan and the amendments that you would bring about if you are a president or leader of the winning party. I salute Shobitha Thera of NMSJ who put out the amendment to the constitution. I would like to throw the same challenge that you, as you threw to the President -will you come out with your proposals and the amendments to the constitution and your action plan to show us what you will do if you are the President of Sri Lanka, even if not the President what your party would do if they become the majority party in the next election. Please do not think I am a supporter of the present regime, I consider my self an independent who is evaluating the possibilities that are before us.

Fonseka’s foul mouth gave the first free kick to the Diaspora and their IC and not forgetting Ms Pillay,
Ever since their IC trio have been kicking goals with head IC playing the center forward and the other two manning the wings.
Now he is coming out with all this bullshit talk.
And what did the head IC say about him in 2010,according to the latest leaks.

I usually do not take what SF says very seriously, but this time he might be on the right track. It was a ruse by the Rajapaksa brothers and company, to pretend the entire world was jealous of them, and their ability to get rid of terrorism, so that when the accusation of human rights violations and massacre of civilians come up. they can blame it on that “jealousy”. So far, the Rajapaksa’s have blamed every one but themselves for the mess they are in, the unresolved situation with human rights, and the crimes committed in this country.
