The Joint Opposition Is A Bunch Of Asylum Seekers & Debris Of A Rogue Regime

By Vishwamithra1984

There is no den in the wide world to hide a rogue. Commit a crime and the earth is made of glass. Commit a crime, and it seems as if a coat of snow fell on the ground, such as reveals in the woods the track of every partridge, and fox, and squirrel.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

They call themselves the Joint Opposition. They are a twice-defeated, once at the Presidential and then at the parliamentary elections, lot of parliamentarians and two or three-time Ministers, who ransacked the country’s economy and its invaluable assets of youth and school children. Instead of taking these avaricious political parasites one by one and decimating them to pieces, the writer would prefer to deposit them into one bunch and tear the fabric apart so that the thread that holds all of them would give way.

Wimal and DineshA majority of those who identify themselves as major players in this irreverent ‘tent’ are facing very grave charges of corruption, nepotism and political mayhem; they have been alleged to have abused their political power to enrich themselves and their kith and kin; some have even been alleged to have committed criminal deeds such as possessing multiple passports; names of a few have been mentioned in murder charges. Whatever may be proven in a court of law, they surly have desecrated every grain of soil they claim to worship. They are a stain on the nation’s past and present. Whatever they were capable of, they indeed have proven to be very able sinners.

Armed with a ‘self-righteousness’ shield, they opined that the defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) was absolutely owing to them and them alone. Hundreds of thousands of ordinary soldiers, corporals, lieutenants, captains, majors and colonels of the Army, and first responders and other fighting units of the Navy, Air Force and Police forces were completely ignored and forgotten. Even the then Army Commander, General Sarath Fonseka was discarded as non-consequential (his subsequent incarceration is another story altogether). That self-righteousness obsessed the first family and the resultant arrogance and vanity shielded them and played a pivotal role as armor to hide behind and resort to all sorts of illegitimate, undemocratic and illegal activities. Opposition to this wild behavior was brutally suppressed; whether one comes from the fourth estate or a rural village, dissent of any degree could not be tolerated by the members of the first family. While violating every precept of fair governance, they became immune to the slightest of criticism and public judgment.

When one takes oneself out of the realm of being judged by the people at large, the obvious signals are glaring and vivid. The armor of self-righteousness protects them, so they thought. An alarming sense of vanity, a reckless sense of indestructibility sets in. Impermanence of political power evades their mindset. In their own small psychological domain, they treat themselves as omnipotent. That sensation of omnipotence starts its destructible process until it gives way to a process by which the subject persons begin reacting instead of generating his or her own chain of events. Eventually they either succumb to the forces that confront them or choose to fight them, of course quite imprudently. Self-righteousness has eaten into the being of each individual of the First Family and the subject Family begins to believe their own lies and half-truths as the gospel.

But the First Family could not have done this on their own. They needed cohorts and henchmen; they needed fellow believers and blind loyalists and above all else, they needed collaborators. Those who stand behind the First Family today are those collaborators. They not only benefited from the wicked alliance they had with the Family in running the country’s affairs as if they owned the land and its people, they resorted to the same methods and means of socio-political ladder-climbing. The loot was shared and the muscle power was provided by the henchmen of these henchmen of the Family. A vicious circle of Family rule was established and the protection was provided by the cohabitants of the First Family. They were the cui bono for they stood to gain from the ever-fattening girth of the Family.

Against each and every member of those parliamentarians who identify themselves with the past regime that suffered an ignoble defeat in January 2015 Presidential Elections, there looms a charge of corruption, nepotism, loot, hooliganism or vandalism. They have a vested interest in the sustenance of the First Family’s rule. They benefitted from it, they looted with them, they violated human decency along with them and now they stand behind them, providing protection and refuge. Being grateful is indeed a noble trait, but being accountable for the commission of human indecencies and follies is nobler. Allegations against them are extremely egregious and most of them are awaiting the outcome of various investigations.

Bringing back the Rajapaksas is in their own interest. And it is imperative that they resort to this historical human virtue, that in order to cover up their own crooked demeanor and deeds, they have no alternative but safeguard the top crooks who coached them the craft. Proverbial birds of the feather have flocked together. Their droppings are visible to the naked eye. But the leader of the flock is singing a ‘sweeter’ tune. The excessive meat they consumed during their heyday is being taxed now from two different perspectives: Firstly, their earnings have come to a halt as they are no more in occupation of those exalted positions and secondly, their ill-gotten riches are being stretched to the hilt as they are forced to spend them for their own defense and other organizational activities.

Wheels of justice might take time to turn, but turn they will. But the people are getting impatient and irritable, to say the least. Political leadership of the day is alleged to be dragging their feet. For whatever reason, I have no clue. The new Inspector General of Police (IGP) might have the answer. However, whether it’s the investigators themselves or the politicos in power, whoever controls the wheels of investigation, transparency of the process cannot be compromised. So they are actually being tested. Let us see if they pass the test.

However, reenactment of the Shirani Bandaranayke case as was done by and during the previous regime is not acceptable; nor should any official or unofficial instructions to the investigating parties be issued by the politicos in power. Utopian expectations might be sunk; those who are hell-bent on revenge might be disappointed and the not-so- crazy ordinary folks might not even take note of, yet the pressure must be brought upon all who came to power on a platform preaching good governance, transparency and accountability. As the saying goes, no regime in history has been able to fool all the people all the time.

Impermanency of power, whether political or otherwise, is absolute. As Heraclitus, the pre-Socratic Greek philosopher, said long years ago: “Nothing endures but change”. What is absolute is ‘change’. And those who do not have the wisdom to understand this simple but eternal truth eventually become unfortunate victims of that ‘change’. Those who ruled this land of ours during the last twelve years did not seem to have had time to ponder these teachings the value of which they profess to be safeguarding. Playing politics with the people’s emotions and beliefs is dangerous. In the very short run those who practice these brutal intrigues might look to be succeeding. The wealth and pleasures they accumulate in that short spell of time may last a couple generations, yet political pressures do not give any advance notice; there are no symptoms of an impending collapse from power and if such symptoms do materialize, the diagnosis may be misread or totally wrong.

Due diligence, firstly on the part of the public at large and secondly by those who have the ability and desire to use the pen, is of critically significant. Doing nothing amounts to aiding and abetting the wrong-doers. People will remember those who fought for them but they will never forget those who evaded the fight. When one is in politics, one gets entrenched in all the muck and debris of the game; when alluring-power beckons one to an easier and more pleasurable way to make money and seek other worldly desires, all controls and self-discipline go out the window. Indulgence in self-gratification is the prime motive that turns the wheels of life for these corrupt politicians. Ambition bordering on irrational and unquenchable thirst to stay in power until death has defined the path of politics and no ordinary ruler has been able to resist it; nor has any dictator been able to weaken the grip power holds on them. Vagaries of political power have been exceptionally corrupting; victims of that power have been uncommonly vulnerable and the lure of extra perks is ever so inviting. A very few Sri Lankan politicians have been able to defy these odds. But a genuine attempt by the present lot will be as refreshing and soothing as the winds on a hot summer afternoon.

Are people that stupid across the country ?

Why they back these men again and again ? It is all because of the deficiences of the current regime to prove that these allegations levelled at Rajaakshes and his goons are the reality.

However, at least 30% of the cases should have been proved as of now .. since 25% of the term is already gone.
Just waiting allowing political games to take ground, has already destroyed it from day one on.

Some good thing have been passed but the move is very slow for sure.

surprise ? was that not clear enough following last PE and GE ?

Rice eating pigs would do the job properly.

Even if the politicians would perpetrate open broad day light crimes, gullible voters abuse their votes – for them joy for the moment is above anythign and everything. Buruwanse, Gonmanpila to score more in those elections are the good examples.

yes, growing masses become so stupid.. may be rice eating have made them so stupid. no other reasons we can see.
Today, they are so powerufl as no times before but attack current rulers. As if the one who set extrements and drove away, Rajaakshes left all the loans and interest onthe Current rulers, and now making every efforts to wash their hands, VERY same nation (vulnerable folks) sing housana for MR. can you imagine ? What a world ?

            Samuel and Samare,

What is the alternative. Is there a single politician or political party that is not corrupt in this country of hora thakkadiyas. I can guarantee that even those that profess not to be corrupt will end up corrupt once in power. This is our real heritage. There is no real alternatives for the voter. Either vote for one rogue or another.

Here truly saying I believe, if the adminstration was run by westerners, these people would have learnt it long ago. I believe, disipline, punctuality, respect laws all came from the west, but our people are one another nation have not leart them yet. Even indians are said to be miles away from the west, though some states of the country is said to be performing well. Out all giat population, only a 4% arereported to be contributing the software industry. But with lots of natural resources having in that subcontinent they can compete with the western allies.

        Saibu,

“Are people that stupid across the country?”

The reply is a resounding “No”. People are not stupid but have no alternative. When it comes to elections those who seek political office are all rogues. Some big and some small fraudsters. There is no alternative.

Every now and then a man arises professing ‘Yahapalanaya’ and the first thing they do is give a very lucrative job to a sibling and appoint well known unelected fraudsters as Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

Look at the picture above. Behind the two beaming thieves are the Buddhist clergy. What more can I say.

Joint opposition asylum seekers should leave the country and seek asylum in EU or anywhere else, then the headache is gone.

The millions that the country own in terms of giving protection to the former will be saved.

Jvp and Tamil parties will do the job of OPPOsition.

Wealth Greed and Power including the Lack of Dhamma Teachings from childhood, Lack of Teaching of Honesty !!
All these matters a lot in following the right path in ones Life.

Are we not installing these in young minds. The Religious leaders and Schools should take the initiatives in teaching these values in ones life.

One can argue then how MR family became the biggest crooks of the country. He in his 70s !! Means he was taught of all the crooked habits in the 1940s??
Or The Greed took over his mind when he was in Power??
That means The POWER should be considered evil that can drive one to GREED??

How can this be stopped?? Only a GOOD GOVERNANCE can irradicate this illness , the illness called “GREED”

Now we know how we can change this country to prosper.
Only by voting in NOT GREEDY POLITICIANS,
That should be the Motto !!

“Only by voting not greedy politicians, that should be the motto”

Not so bad idea Mr. analyst but where and how can we find them?

Please let me give my opinion.

All of us are greedy; our interests are because of greed, the human want to rise, want to shine and finally want to dominate.

That’s nature, there may be exceptions but we can’t hunt for them.
When come to politics all the contenders are greedy.

MS is greedy that’s why he attacked MR. He had been knowing the Achilles heel for long time but waited until the right time comes, if he wasn’t greedy he could have corrected MR at the very beginning.

VP struggled for a separate country to serve India’s greed for dominance and because of his own greed for power, not solely for the sake of people.

What is required and important is the ability to manage one’s greed; in other words it’s discipline.
We want politicians who can manage their greed in the framework of law.

How can we make law abiding citizens. To my mind it lies on education.

We have to change our education system.

Mahinda Rajakashe is the most pingona of the nation whose nose control (nas launwa) is on the hands of the Joint OPPOSITION. Most highly courrpted men and women are the consitution of the Joint OPPO. Now or later they have to face it when investigations are made charging them adequently.
Yesterday that one sunil from Southern area was seen as asking 500 million to have faced defarmation. These minions to become billanares within 10 years or so, they should have run pearl businesses… as any sane ones feel… where the money came from etc should be traced …. no later.
Then records will prove how Wimal Buruwanse earned his millions
How particular sunil earned his millions
      How Rajaakshes earned thos billions
How Joint oppotion men collected that hundreds of millions
How former MP mahindananda collected billions…

Srilanka is said to have no automoible plants or oil springs to bring this much currencies within shorter period of time.
All the authorities should finally find out from where the big sums landed onto the named men ?
They have a deal between live and let live – that is the reason they to lick the balls of MR again and again. This is a kind of symbiosis. Else, MR would have already reached its silence. The man has lost his face – so as it is the after shocks he makes every efforts to keep his so called image.
With all the evidences keep surfacing, his future is destined.
So, believe or not there will be break away fractions sooner than later.

That is perhaps better for the party and its future.

Vishwamithra’s “rogue regimes” were what manifested as our governments since 1948. The last regime was by far not only “rogue” but a criminal enterprise worse than any existing Mafia. The Japanese have the Yakuza and we had our very own version of the Rajapaksha Yakko+Czar.

    This is business as usual.

Unless you have a group like the black tigers to take out the rouges, they will flourish under any regime.

In any event, it is high time that the law and ‘due process’ takes its course without more dilly-dallying and (if found guilty) put these criminals away!

    Vishwamithra1984,

    Stating the bleeding obvious.

So what will happen. Come next elections there is a good chance MR and Co will be returned. See how MR is smiling these days.

We voted in a new man who promised us a corruption free, nepotism free just society. And see how he fooled us. On the ground it is same same – same same. Rogues are ruling the roost again. And it will happen again.

We Sri Lankans are different to the rest of the lot out there in the world. We are the only nation where all are fooled all the time.

          Really ?

Then those billions alleged to have grabed from your family Sach :)

Now even Wasideva made it clear about the kind of transactions – as Wasidewa the most known dried pumbkin pointed out yesterday – former president was well informed on such money dealings.

Any leader elected by people should work for the nation – but the manner Rajakashe did itby looting to no go level is beyond all bearing That you should accept finally.

Today s crisis is not due to mis management but due to huge money grabs by Alibaba and 40 thieves.

Twice defeated and retired politicians have become Joint Opposition and heroes of the grass root politicians at Local authority level due to the fact that they still think that they can make money out of public contracts. Unfortunately the media-men say there is no counter allegation or reply on the part of the government or the ruling party on the allegations level against the government by these elements. The opposition win the day over the media in the absence of strategic publicity campaign by the govt.

For example Govt announced the increase of VAT from 11 % to 15 % by mere 4 percent. The opposition says all the prices will go up by 15% incurring an additional expenditure of Rs 12,000 per month by a family. Rohitha Abeygunawardene is on record saying this unabated

The successive governments since 1994 are ignorance of the importance of media as the bureaucracy did away the system of appointing Information officers to the public service leaving it in the hands of the private cadres of the ministers.

    • 3
      0

You are as dishonest as the article author. Best way to win contracts is to align with the government not with the opposition. Same with making sure the bribery commission doesn’t knock at your day.

lol these Sirikotha paid rumor mongers. Just three days back the Sirikotha led government announced 20 billion bonds and offered 40 billion worth of bonds some going at 14% per annum which were conveniently dumped at the secondary markets giving a few traders exorbitant profits. The infamous Panama papers have leaks linked the 3 politicians and each one of them are in the current government. The government just increased VAT on effing medical services while giving permit bonanzas to ministers. While all these goes on some are busy attacking the opposition. I wonder why? Are these defeated terror supporters who are planning to win self governance through Ranils constitution amendments?

    • 3
      0

LOL another blind hater of the truth speaking again without any idea of fact-based arguments. Where has it shown that the 3 politicians are linked with the current government? The Panama investigations are still ongoing around the world where the international consortium of investigative journalists are yet to reveal information regarding who are exactly linked to the scams. Secondly, it has been publicly announced the new VAT will not affect Medical services.

Please do not share your baseless and biased ideology here. This is not some rat race

Only a complete moron or a paid slave will claim that all the opposition are rogues while having not a single comment on the allegations on the current government. After all the FCID, CID and even the US homeland department are busy looking at supposed corruption of the previous government. It’s the current government that are having no checks or balances.

  • 3
    2

Ayyo Wishwamithra, you friend of Tamil separatists and obedient servant of Sirikotha. The “rogue” opposition got 96 seats which is the best display by any opposition in the recent history while your inflated boss’s party only managed to get 106 seats (even after tying with Champika Ranawaka who you called a racist and a rogues just years ago) which is way behind the 50% mark. Your boss is enjoying a 2/3rd majority at the expense of bonanzas given to opposition mps from the money of poor Citizen. Know the facts without coming across as some complete propagandist.

btw why are your superior popular government delaying elections for 2 years now? Isn’t that undemocratic and dictatorial?

    • 5
      2

Again here an another racial comments. Be you are JOINT oppo supporter or anyone else, let alone today please dont add racial ones. We are on a process of converge all the srilankens regardless of the race and regligion.

      Quote:
btw why are your superior popular government delaying elections for 2 years now? Isn’t that undemocratic and dictatorial?

Reasons are being given by the minister who is dealing with that…. EC is clear… EC is given their powers accordingly. So dont try to talk as a kitchen boy would do… if you dont know the facts, be away from commnets please.

      • 2
        4

Ofcourse they give reasons. Which government does not? They could hold the general elections before due time to prevent COPE committee probing bond scams but can’t hold local elections just because Sirisena could not hijack the rural voter base as they planned to.

        Very democratic no?

        • 3
          0

Anyway the systems are much better- if you are a sane person- than had been in the past, you cant expect EU democracy there. basta.

      3

Just be patient man. They didn’t calculate that the opposition will organize so fast or Mahinda will be back at business. Mahinda will be killed by a suicide bomber pretty soon and then they will hold the local elections. and ofcourse Mahinda will be made a saint after and Wimal and Gammanpila will be blamed for his death. Probably this senseless attack on opposition is a part of the plan.

      • 3
        0

All kind of enemies are there against Mahinda, also within Joint Opposition:

That is not overlooked. Mahinda the man of thugs behaves no good.
There should be some ppunishments by nature him to keep away from lanken poltics so that the progress can be made for the rest. Man lived with lies will have no ground to be amazed the way he has been as of now.

        • 3
          1

Premadas behaved also not far different to Mahinda. Those rural uneducated men thought only way out is playing with innocient rural voters. Actually, if their hearts are that close to the poverty of them, those leaders should be exemplary like Niakraguaw president who would not even had a car for his own.

Premadasa and Mahinda both played with people. I have put some more respect on Sajith, .. he having learnt all these, would not go in the same path. He is a good heart.. and he focuses on manythings at a time.

Remember the days of Premadasa Gamudawa where he ate millions?

But his good side was giving houses to the poor across the country.

As usual a plastic fruits of basket which has no real taste, for the lackeys of yahapalanaya from Vishwamithra. If Vishwamithra thinks the failure in almost every aspect of SL affairs under the name of yahapalanaya, could be cover up by talking of the past and leveling gibberish against JO, its only a laughing stock. People have given them a lesson at the last election. It is upto them to re think of their failures and re organise. It is their right. Vishvamithra or similar minded jack asses cannot stop it by writing crap!

Max you sound to be know-all regardless of the issues. That could be good for you but not for us the CT readers

Anyways Yahapalanaya will learn you more lessions if not now laters. Be patient. No need to attack anyone, just let repsonsilbe authoriteis to do the job. THis country is a predominant buddhist conuntry, practisiing patience will nto be that difficult. MR and thugs will have no chance go return to lanken politics again. That iwll be the reality. Next 01st is there day to go for their agendas. THey will have to break away from current UPFA. I have no doubt then it will be better for MY3, RANIL coalition rather than going with the current consensual govt. People will realize the goodies in the days to come.

Appubaba seems to be very much ‘baba’ when it comes to politics in Sri Lanka. MR and thugs – as you fondly call them – have gone now. Bashing them again and again shows nothing but the inability, incompetency of bashers including you – a blind ‘shopper’ of current regime. They already have proven what are their capabilities are. Bad economy, security, sociality, unrest in almost all the sectors in the society and many more minuses are tagging behind the yahapalanaya. So singing hosnas to them is upto babas like you. Not to the open and balance minded people in Sri Lanka. Are these jokers act as what they preached before Jan 8, 15 or not? That simple thought is enough to understand who they are! (By the way, that question/thought is applicable only to those who sees white as white and black as black. Moon as moon and Sun as sun).

        • 1
          4

True these baba baboons have forgotten what they preached before january 08th. According to their early rhetoric the stock market should have gone up, economic growth must have touch 8%, inflation down and foriegn investors fighting with each other to enter the country. Having failed at every possible front these baboons are now twisting all the theories to save their moronic party.

You the fools have got it 1 to 1. But knowing the lanken realities I never expected them to do the job 100% as we pulse it on the west. We know their ablities. And the resources they have got.

At least we can now breathe in the conuntry, not having whitevaning. BBS dogs roaming… having had the mentality to go and compalin if crimes on women are there. All in all, looking back I see the progress, you guys that talk from the back side seem to have mixed all together.

We can expect feathers from turtles right. Likewise, we must not expect lanken politicans to suprise you with all high mountains of good things at once. Lanken people in general work very slow. Go and check it by yourself guys, how many breaks they get, while working though 5days a week. Is that similar to the west where every minutes being weighed ?

And about crime handling, they dont have resources enough NO trainings given to those police or others adequatly, they just spend time fingering their backsides instead of work. Accord work should be imposed to them if the prodcutivey is to be risen. All will come with the time with new system being introduced to the country by new Regime, I still have big hope.

The ‘official’ opposition is a bunch of criminals and debris of defeated LTTE terrorists.

Can any party bearing the name HELA Urumaya, MUSLIM Congress or TAMIL National Alliance be the legitimate opposition of a democratic country with a modicum of self respect? Shame. Whom are they representing?( they polled even less than JVP!). What are they occupied with?

TNA headed by Sambandan (Now pretending to be a pusa, really a hora pusa) provided political succor to the most brutal terrorist outfit ever known, aided and abetted killing and maiming innocent people, provided their own children to be be trained as suicide bombers and told this country and the whole world that these inhuman terrorists are the ‘sole representatives of Tamils’. For sixty long years their only preoccupation has been inculcating hatred in the hearts of Tamil youth, turning their entire life psychologically gloomy and miserable, whether they wished to be martyrs or not.

Now this other part of the opposition, the idiotic commies who staged two insurrections which led to large number of innocent deaths and untold destruction in economic terms, the less said about them the better.

Both TNA and JVP are pardoned criminals by this sympathetic nation.

Vishwamithra is simply grinding out Yahapalana propaganda by going all barrels firing at the Joint Opposition and their supporters which is to my mind nothing less than a display of desperation at the JO’s success in NOT ACCEPTING the ground realities of what this current lot in power are doing to dismember the country’s territorial integrity.

This is nothing but “dirty tricks” once again at play which together with the secret agreements will bring Sri Lanka down on its knees into being a playground of the West, both on land and at sea.
The Joint Opposition will not, I am sure, be fooled by all the insults such as this stuff by Vishwamitra into submission.

Says we have to change our education ! But those in power now were they not educated of Good values and Honesty in their tender age 70 years ago??
Educating Good values were taught much more in schools and at Religious places , the Parents instilled good values in their children’s mind too in the past.
Parents had time and vision in those days to teach their children.

Now the Greedy parents have no time to teach their own children the Greedy Religious leaders have nothing to teach at Dhamma classes other than changing the Buddha Sassana and WARPING young minds.

What about the School Principals ?? They are very Greedy counting their Bank Balances busy Conspiring how to grab more money from the State and the Unsuspecting Parents.

This is our wonder of Asia now.
      Power makes one Greedy.

I thought that Gunawardhana is a decent man, but now being caught by MR tactics, he is irrepairably intoxicated. Can you imagine ? The men should better go to retirement since their participation in lanken politics is not needed anymore looking back the dried pumpkins have performed during the recent years.

All of you who are extolling Vishwamitra1984’s analysis, please read Rajan Hoole’s article title “Revisiting Tamil Self Determination Part V: Sleepwalking Into An Inferno” by Rajan Hoole, that appears in these columns. It is an eye opener as to what is really around the corner while all of you are entertaining yourselves berating the JO and MR.
How stupid can people get when they do not see the wood for the trees!!

“It is an eye opener as to what is really around the corner while all of you are entertaining yourselves berating the JO and MR.”

Does Rajan Hoole wants to ban singing National anthem in Tamil?

“How stupid can people get when they do not see the wood for the trees!!”

Of course you are right, people are stupid, that is one reason as to why they have been consistently electing morons, crooks, war criminals, drug smugglers, rapists, …. racists, hypocrites, former terrorists, … to the democratic institutions, since 1948.
