Many in this forum wanted a regime change. They have been blessed with one. However the political culture remains the same.

If you criticise too much of this man and his son, you may see the white van history repeating again. Please watch out for passing white vans, one might be parked permanently outside your house.

Until and otherwise the nature and strucure of the state are changed the political culture will remain constant if not worse.

We are going to see more of the same, and scream “here we go again”.

Power of the people speaks volumes. We rocked the boat of MR, Can do it again chaps.
For the love of the country and for the future of the generation THE PEOPLE can change the world if they have the will power.
The past 10 years of bribery corruption and nepotism is history , never wanted to see those faces again .
But the change of regime did not happen as we have expected which is a grave mistake by the new Regime.
Why Oh Why,,, is it because it was only the colour change but not the people.?
The public had been fooled in a big way.
It’s important for the country to be respected in the world ,we cannot live with Vedda minds.
Firstly the Racism against the minority and the mindset should be irradicated.
As long as this mindset remains there will be NO FUTURE FOR SL INTERNATIONALLY.
Best for us to follow the policy of Father SWRD and make mother Lanka an illiterate nation. Eat your Polos and Parippu and live happily ever after.
No need of any input or interference internationally.
But we need begging bowls to get rich quickly in the form of Foreign Fundings. The Polticians are clever in begging for the foreign AIDS but you and I will not see that. Ever.
This is where we are heading at the moment to the No man land where Burewes, Pakses and other crooks lives.

Here we go round the mulberry bush .And all will tumble down.

There are 3 movements running in parallel to crown the future king.
      The UNP,The UPLF, The SLFP.
Slow and steady wins the race chaps. We are just the spectators and enjoying the bull fight.
M3 ‘s head is on the chopping board ??
For all the ineffective ruling and secrecy and remained mum for the last 8 months and resulted nothing.
Talk ,talk , talk , walk ,walk, walk, to the FCID and CID. Nothing positive had happened .

The public is impatient so will there be a revolution?? Surely we do not want the Ex Cardboard cutouts , thieves and rogues and the infamous whitevans .

We need better than this ,
Clean living, no nonsense strong intelligent, with impeccable character of HONESTY AND INTEGRITY TO RULE THIS STUPID NATION.
      IS THERE ANYONE???

It took MR sometime before he started to squander the nation with support from his family, relatives and friends, created rift between parties and people, divided the nation with racialism, headed a highly corrupt government run by thugs, druggists, thieves, murderers, embezzelers and the only clean man, GLP, had no option but to “join ’em”.

My3 comes fully trained and tainted by his previous mentor MR and (I wish to reserve my expletives) whoever chose this guy to head a nation must be shot with shit and whipped up by the guts of a monitor (kabaraya).

The result of Jan 08.2015 was the same old parippu to the people, only served in a different plate everything else is continuing in the same pattern and probably the “white van” culture may be operative in a multitude of colours to avoid the suspicions of the stupid Sri Lankans.

Sri Lanka is not short of of honest people who can run a country efficiently. However, due to racism and caste, that opportunity will not come by to these people as they are unknown names and are not Sinhalese Govigama Buddhists which is the biggest obstacle for national unity and success.

Since independance, which we were served on a golden platter, the country has been ruled by the Sinhalese Buddhist or Sinhalese Christian Buddhists (SWRD) and for 68 years they have failed the nation.
SWRD introduced Sinhala only and reversed the country to over 100 years.
The result of this was a people unable to face the world where English
        was the link language.

It is time for the people to wake up to reality and choose someone with a vision for the future or else it won’t long this country will end up on the butchers block only to be chopped up by the different races.

The need of the hour is a secular person who will keep away from religion, faith, philosophy and beliefs that certainly are not going to help.

It was fing Badaudin who stole our medium of instruction in 1970 because he wanted only the Muslims to converse in English while the Muslims have been slaughtering the Europeans from inception of stupid faith- Wahabi

now even your allaha has to live with it. He is a puppet on a string villager so don’t anger him-
The wisest man is often one who pretends to be a `damn fool`.

“”by to these people as they are unknown names and are not Sinhalese Govigama Buddhists which is the biggest obstacle for national unity and success.””
Hindians (racist card playing woman Gandhi Indira) reserved 30% for minority caste- they passed out took positions and puked at every step. That debate with DJ on CT explained it all about caste and qualification- the faux pas.

The nation is bleeding because of people like you around. I don’t carry
any religion or faith on my head or shoulders. I consider that all religions and beliefs are a preparation for a life after death. However,
how are we going to deal with the living ? What our nation needs is a person of fair judgement and secular with an iron fist to correct this country from it’s errors repeatedly committed by corrupt politicians with
            big and open pockets.

I feel, that, perhaps, the only good politician with a vision and foresight was the late President Premadasa.

BTW if people of Sri Lanka believe that they have done away with MR then they have to think again because My3 will do it better than MR and time will tell
tell us the results. My3 was a good disciple of MR and learned the ropes from
            his mentor (MR).

The FCID and the CID are a joke. They should be disbanded as they cant do a thing to pin anybody of significance.

At this rate, the last set who governed might end up being proven they were whiter than white.

Time ticks, and each second erodes the confidence people had of the concept of YAHAPALANAYA.

A set of new and incorruptible faces might stand a very good chance to surge ahead.

I think there is a place for the Eran W’s, Harsha’s, and most of the JVP in a future government.

The old rags – be they UNP or SLFP – are all washed up.

not him the separatist (because he cannot think outside his raasam especially DJ)but the tamil and muslim voted for Sira but Sira did not request block vote from them and even today is clear that there will be no division etc.

both voted for regime change which was more of a hindian, american, kattadiya master plan- therefore mara regrets.

Therefore the muslims and tamils who voted for him must `put up & shut up` until they get to the stupid ballot again. No yakko in that land of snakes is going to dissolve the presidency because it was `maturala by stupid buddha`

I think it is high time – Colombo people to protest against placard culture.

Actually, president may be unaware of who are standing behind all these these. Environmentalists should come forward right at this moment to protest against displays of unncessary advertisements starting in colombo vicinities. MR abused statefunds for all the kind of show offs issues, now behaves as if the dog trying to hide the tale between rear legs-not being able to pay the millions of debts that he left behind. Shameless men did everything abusing vulnerabliity of the poor masses in the country.

It is lucrative to go against these placards and leave space for commercial adverts creating new earning ways.

“I think it is high time – Colombo people to protest against placard culture. “

Out of the about 1 million voters who voted in the Colombo district, 30% or 300,000 voted for Wimal Weerawansa of 2/2 =0 fame.

They want placards. Why? They have a hard time reading and understanding. Their average IQ is 65, and they are slow in getting the message.

Besides this has become the political advertising culture.

Anyway, despite all pose poster by MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa, still ge lost. Did the posters help him or hurt him? Certainly it helped with the lower IQ fraction. It is called mind-share in advertising.

He ought to hand over two pairs of boxing gloves to Ministers Fouzi and Faiz Mustapha, and ask them to fight it out in a bxing ring, a-la-Elara and Dutugemunu.

But come to think of it, our hero of long ago ought to be the aged model King, Elara, and not the Dushtaya who was obsessed with “uniting” Sri Lanka. Violence against Tamils and their assets in the South is one form of scaring the regime in power. Whether the Tamil people warranted or deserved this is another matter. Constitutional protection to the Tamils – my foot!!! It brings in the best results against the in powerand so it will be tried again. This is the history of this country under both UNP and SLFP-lead administrations. It is pretty potent stuff in the hands of uncaring and desperate Sinhala “leaders” – until the next VP comes along. If you don’t agree ask that thug Gnassara Thera or Sarath Fonseka. Their narratives let the cat out of the bag.

So I don’t care how corrupt Sirisena is or how high his standards of nepotism are. We voted for him and we got him and neither he, nor India nor anyone else will ever allow Eelam. Junius Richard Jayewardene, Sri Lankabhimanya Ranasinghe Premadasa, Sri Lankabhimanya Dingiri Banda Wijetunga, Chandrika Kumaratunga couldn’t destroy VP’s podians until Hindia persuaded Chandrika to go all out war against LTTE, and financed the bigger mugger MR to win the elections and beat up VP and his podians.

It would be Hindia and Hindia alone will decide whether Sri Lanka remains one country or to be divided into two. The little islanders Sirisena, Mahinda, Ranil, Dayan, Wimal, Vasu, Gunadasa Amarasekera and ….. are only the spectators in the great game.

All these little islanders have a simple choice. They have to decide how they are going to treat the people. Let the little islanders think about it. Hindia could make the little islanders very little islanders indeed.

Don’t bet on your little people, go beg the Hindians.

It was an international war-footing on terror where the FBI had influence and seconded by RAW with perhaps Norway. And Sinhala Buddhist – they were all in it.
Musharaff the coup master took exile in UK for 2 years costing the London tax payer £1 million per month for security alone. When passa wanted security for a private meeting at oxford, Boris (a journalist by profession) mayor of London refused him once as a token jester.

International politics like local has no logic. the only logic is that of an octopus grabbing its food from the stupid who cannot live together reasonably.

Under Obama the incompetent Giraffe many american soldiers are committing suicide and they want him out. Obama feels at home with war criminals as long as they are HoS. So Passa escaped and he is not alone . Only the lankans can do what they want with Passa and company the same way they carry out with tamils.

They were birds of the same feather. They behave the same way. At least he could have waited a little while before showing his true colors. There was no regime change. We will have more of the same. The international community was fooled or rather, they were only interested in countering China. Once that was done, they simply did not care what happened. The Sirisena lot read the situation correctly. They will make the victims the demons, as they did with the young that were killed during the JVP uprisings. The elite will go on. Sirisena, the gamaya, will join Rajapakse, the former gamaya, in the hope of emulating him in the hope of joining with the real elite, Ranil and the Bandit Queen. So our dear country muddles on being sucked off by a small gang in the name of Sinhala and Buddhism and the need to ward off the foreign invader, when all their wealth is in foreign banks and foreign property.

If you want real change in the political culture and get rid of the rhetoric, we need a youth front free of current politicians or siblings to take the torch and run with a focus on true prosperity for all Srilankans. We cannot change the way the rotten politicians are wired in Srilanka only a new stock of right minded younger generation can make a peaceful, democratic change happen for the health and well being of the country and all it’s citizens.

We should ignore or ridicule old political tradition, fanfare and rhetoric and make a peaceful transition bloom for a transparent, just and truly democratic society.

    Dear President,
I have a suggestion to you: Sri Lanka, by law, must limit all public displays related to politics and politicians to a maximum size of A3.
    Please consider.

We have the same morons in power, why should the mentality change.
Who is paying for the cutouts? Taxpayers?

This cut-out mania is a more recent development in our declining and lowly political culture. When those political giants Mrs.B or JRJ returned to the country the madness had not crept in. It became so ludicrous when Nimal Siripala (how this mediocre lawyer ever became a Minister is beyond me) wasted millions of the country’s scarce resources to feed his massive ego. He was then Health Minister, a failure by all accounts. It was Sri Lanka’s turn to head an international Health Conference he attended. The fool encouraged his minions to crowd the roads in the city and the streets enroute the airport with hoardings bearing his beaming photograph. He was suggesting thereby, by some superb mysterious achievement, he won the chairmanship for the country. He was clearly adding brownie points to his future claim to the PM’s chair. What morons as our political leaders!

Something must be done by Ranil/CBK to stop this pathetic nonsense.

The president and the Prime minister if they are genuine, must take a firm stand on this cut out menace. Most of these cutouts that were hanging welcoming President Maithreepala sirisena from UN back home, from every lamp post were from hangers on around Mahinda when he was the President. The prominent being the press owner Thilanga Sumathipala, Musthafa and Fowzie. One wonder what these morons try to achieve by this.I was in Singapore a day after the funeral of their Late leader Lee Kwan Yu, and not a single picture or a cut out was displaced of that revered leader. such was the intelligence of the Singaporeans.

If a UNP government was formed instead of this national government, these cut outs and posters where the photo of the President in a Blue(SLFP) background would not have appeared. Clearly the SLFPers who are hellbent in carrying out their usual bad habits are the culprits. May be President Sirisena who is the leader of SLFP also has changed and enjoy this type of pageantry now. At the end President Sirisena by giving cabinet and non cabinet posts to the SLFPers has done a great deal of injustice to the society. The SLFPers can not be corrected, they have to be eradicated.

It was reported that a president who spent less than 65,000 rupees for his simple swearing in ceremony at Independence Square in January had spent over LKR nine million for the welcome at the airport.

It is a shame that this wonderful president whom we all admired so much is allowing his image to be used and then tarnished by his political unworthies (whom he has around him) in order for them to score some brownie points.

At this rate, this President will lose all the sympathy he has from the international stage (as well as a lot of the public) because there is little difference in the political tactics used by him or MaRa.

It was sickening to see the President greeted at the airport on his return by some political crawlers of the SLFP who looked pathetic the way they greeted him. Absolutely pathetic!

What a sad culture we have allowed to spring out of a once lovely country which promised so much, at the time of its independence!

    Native Veddah,

What you write may be unpalatable to the Sinhala Buddhists in the country. Yet methinks it is brutally consistent with the ground reality. India cannot be wished away – and growing politically and economically more powerful. It is right there across the fence and we have to deal with it – during fair and foul weather in our mutual relationship. Your analogy of the East Pakistan tragedy is well taken. The Finns realised that and survived mighty Communist Soviet Russia from 1917 to the 1990s gaining from sensible and pragmatic policies to insensible and infantile nationalistic demands. While the more experienced and politically astute JRJ finally gave in to reality, the politically mediocre Mahinda R played hot and cold with India. He miscalculated time will be on his side.

The so called indispensable electorate of Sinhala extremism, the Mahanayakas and the Buddhist hierarchy obstinately held they will never allow language parity or granting of citizenship to plantation workers – toiling here for generations. Both sides had to eat crow in 1987 – after 40 years and more when the meagre resources of the country were wasted in the intervening decades by our political interplay. Both these issues are now part of the laws of the land.

The Tamil political leadership has given up Eelam. It is up to us to meet half way and allow Tamils internal self-rule or, surely at some later, reap the whirlwind now that we sowed the wind.

It is up to the more educated, rational and intelligent Sinhalese to educate the Sinhala Nation to recognise the realities of their future.
The time for political chicanery and shenanigsm is over.
Armageddon, the Sinhala Buddhist version of it, may be the option.
