The Sanctity Of Dharma May Be Gambled Away, Only For It To Ultimately Prevail

PM – TGTE – Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran

Many voices being raised around the world calling for a boycott of the Commonwealth Summit being held in Sri Lanka are a clear declaration that Truth and Justice shall not be compromised under any circumstances.

While the support for holding the Summit in Sri Lanka might have been based on short term political interests of some states, the recent calls for boycott are clearly anchored in justice and Dharma, echoing the words of the great Tamil poet, Subramaniya Bharathy, who wrote “The sanctity of Dharma may be gambled away, only for it to ultimately prevail”!

Among the world-wide calls for a boycott, Tamil Nadu was a beacon and shining example of the unmitigated opposition to the Commonwealth Conference and a historic one. As we have said on many occasions earlier, the foreign policies of a country can and will be influenced by its domestic polity. This has been amply demonstrated by Tamil Nadu in relation to India’s foreign policy. It is only due to the opposition of Tamil Nadu that the Prime Minister of India has chosen not to participate in the Summit.

In the international arena, the position taken by India, as the regional power of South Asia, in relation to neighbours such as Sri Lanka is significant, and one that heavily influences other countries in their relationship with Sri Lanka. The boycott of the Commonwealth Summit by the Mauritius Prime Minister as a condemnation of the human rights violations by the Sri Lankan government is a testimony to the fact that Sri Lanka is being isolated in the international arena.

There is a difference between the decisions taken by Canada and Mauritius and the decision by the Indian Prime Minister to skip the conference. The decisions by Canada and Mauritius were made based on policy and principle while the Indian decision was made in order to placate the people of Tamil Nadu. Moreover, India’s announcement that its Foreign Minister will head their delegation has angered Tamil Nadu to the extent that a further motion was passed in the State Assembly on Nov 12, 2013 in opposition to this move by India.

It is with immense gratitude that we welcome this motion and the efforts taken by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Selvi Jeyalalithaa, and other Tamil political leaders along with the student movements who have stood by the Eelam Tamil cause.

The question of whether to isolate an oppressive state or to engage with it in order to effect change has been a perennial one among the states in their foreign relations policies.

There was a time when many states preferred to engage with South Africa to bring about change in its apartheid policies rather than isolate it. However, when those efforts failed to bring the anticipated change, the world community finally imposed sanctions in order to isolate South Africa to the point of bringing down its odious policy of apartheid.

Today there are many States who believe that changes could be brought about in Sri Lanka through active engagement. India holds this position as well. It is due to such a policy of engagement and appeasement that India has been hesitant in arriving at a decision about participation by its Prime Minister at the Summit. Moreover, the appeasement agenda is clearly articulated by India’s decision to still send a high level delegation led by the Foreign Minister.

In the same way as how the engagement and appeasement approach failed in the case of South Africa, so will it be in the case of Sri Lanka. Such an eventuality has been clearly understood and articulated by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Selvi Jeyalalithaa, whose motion on Aug 06, 2011 passed unanimously in the Tamil Nadu State Legislature included a call for economic sanctions against Sri Lanka. In the same vein, we call upon the world leaders to impose a range of sanctions against Sri Lanka today to isolate her from the world stage.

Coinciding with the period of the Commonwealth Summit, many protests and demonstrations are being undertaken in the Tamil Eelam homeland in opposition to the oppressive ways of the Sri Lankan State. The Tamil Diaspora, the people of Tamil Nadu, and many others sympathetic to the Tamil cause throughout the world, are engaged in various acts of protest in support of the campaign of the Tamils in the island of Sri Lanka and in opposition to the Commonwealth Summit in there. We urge our brothers and sisters in Tamil Eelam, Tamil Nadu, and in the Diaspora, to intensify their efforts at this very moment when the attention of world leaders and international media is focused on Sri Lanka and the Commonwealth Summit it is hosting.

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) stands together with all protesters across the globe in solidarity and with an utmost sense of responsibility. The Thirst of Tamils is Tamil Eelam.

*Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran – Prime Minister – Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)

Whhat MAD Max Silva and other Sinhala racists don’t realize is, we did win the war, which was great, but the Chief MEEHARAKA is still losing the peace day by day !

You can’t compare apples & oranges, Max
Problem is, MOST Sinhalese still can’t do that ! The war ended 4 yrs. ago….! You can’t rest on your laurels !

Max Silva seems to be having nightmares and feeling the pressure.

Looks like the Tamils are giving enough hardships and sleepless nights to the Sinhalese for more than 2000 years now. According to the Mahavamsa, Dutugemunu killed sixty thousand Tamils around 2000 years ago but within 44 years after Dutugemunu’s death, the Tamils started ruling again. According to News reports, Rajapakshe killed forty thousand Tamils in 2009 but the Tamil problem is not over, instead it has become even worse. The Tamils are not giving up.

Trust me, the Tamils will never let the Sinhalese have peace and prosperity as long as the Sinhalese make the Tamils lives miserable. ‘If you pull the Tamils down to misery, then they will pull the Sinhalese and the country also along with them to hell’ and that is what is happening for decades or rather centuries now.

“It is with immense gratitude that we welcome this motion and the efforts taken by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Selvi Jeyalalithaa, and other Tamil political leaders along with the student movements who have stood by the Eelam Tamil cause…” I do not subscribe to the Tamil Eelam part of Rudra’s comment if acceptable alternatives are provided. My position is if the Sinhala South grants sufficient space for internal rule in the Tamil North-East and provides unhindered fiscal and other support that will be welcome to the Lankan Tamil nation whose priority is, inter alia, the restoration of their peace, normalcy and well being.

And we still have some ungrateful Tamils in these pages who have the audacity to insist Tamils in the island the Tamilnadu are at some sort of imagined war.

Varathan is a very divisive and opinionated man. Who is he to pass judgement as to which Tamil is grateful or ungrateful.

Thank you, Rudra for your reference to Dharma. Fifteen centuries back, Silappathikaaram a Tamil Jain/Hindu epic cited the inevitability of karma or retributive justice as a warning for misgovernance.

I say if the world insist on an independent internatonal investigation the folllwing need to happen

There shouldn’t be selective calls for investigations. There sohuld be an investigation on USA & UK for their human rights violations in iraq

    – Engalnd shoiuld be held accountable for their inhuman bombing campaings during world war 2 ( DRESDEN). After all we should not put a time limit on justice

    – When it comes to the confilct in Sri Lanka, there should be an investigation on the entire 30 yrs of the war, not just the final couple of months. Afterall aren’t we seeking justic for all victims not just the victims during the final stages. India should be held responsible for supporting LTTE terrorist, Adela B should be held responsible for grooming child soldiers, Visuvnathan R should be held responsible for material support for a terrorist organization, and then the rest including the SL GOV can be held responsible for any rights violations.

Looks like a good plan, don’t you think so folks. Alas this will never happen because this whole episopde is not about genocide or rights violations, but it’s all about regime change in SL!!!

      Aruna,

Your plan is good. UK can kick stray by prosecuting that scum Balasingham woman crimes against humanity.
Prosecute those who provided money and material to LTTE terrorists.
UN must bring war crimes charges against UK for bombing and killing of some 200,000 civilians in Dresden and various atrocities in Asia, Africa, Iraq.
UN to investigate US crimes against humanity in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan .
All of the above to precede any action against Sri Lanka.

Are you suffering from amnesia? What about crimes Against humanity committed by the Sinhalese against the Tamils in 1958, 1961 , 1977 and July 1983 . We need to set a international criminal justice Tribunals against these holocausts carried out against the Tamils by Sinhala mobs.

Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran – there is no Tamil Eelam homeland that you are reffering to on this Island. Once you come to this realization maybe you can actually start helping those people that you claim to represent who are in need of help to get back to living in dignity..

On the other hand if your only intention is to try and perpetuate war, then you and all other like you must be brought to justice for crimes against humanity

India has made a serious foreign policy error because of internal politics. India has lost out on the world stage to be a regional power..To resolve issues one must engage

India can send rockets to space but it is unable to engage positively with any of its neigbours; Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan or now Sri Lanka

There will be no peace in Sri Lanka until justice is served to those who died and to victims of the Mullaivaikkal Way. GoSL is on the spot in CHOGM, and nervous Mahinder Rajapakse will blow his top. International Independent Investigation, referendum, army out and a protection mechanism for the Tamils is on the table.CHOGM is the rope for Mahinda.

Let me tell you for your information that the next Time when a war is going to be faught between the Tamils and Sinhalese the rest of the world is not going to support the Sinhalayas as they did last time. The next war is going to be prosecuted in a different way with different technological weapons. The Tamils all over the world know how to defeat you ignoramus fools.

This criminal has no right to talk about sanctity of Dharma, when his hands and mind are red with the blood of innocent tamil, muslim and sinhala civilians that he helped to murder over a 30-year period by LTTE murderers. Of course this is sour grapes as usual by Rudra. Having forgotten the word or meaning of ‘Human Rights’ for over two decades when the LTTE was ruthlessly violating every right of humans (of Sinhalese, Muslims and also Tamils alike), as well as animals and even flora, this deflated aspirant to the Presidency of an imaginary Eelam now talks of the Dharma.

We all know that the leaders of Canada, India and Mauritius boycotted CHOGM 2013 purely for domestic political reasons – Cananda/Harper for the fear of losing diaspora tamil votes in Toronto, India/Manmohan on account of losing Tamil Nadu votes and Mauritius due to fear of losing its status as an offshore transit point for investment into South India.

Rudra’s and the LTTE diasporas’ only hope is to incite hatred of the Tamils in Sri Lanka by the Sinhalese and manufacture a 1983 like situation, thus creating conditions for Indian/UN intervention in the country. Unfortunately for Rudra and the LTTE diaspora, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka know this and would never let another 1983 like situation recur.

Where were the Tamil humanists when LTTE targeted civilians in their military operation against Sinhala civilians

Where were the Indians when your RAW over saw massacre at the Sri maha bodhi with latte support…

Where were the Tamil humanists when your own Tamil children were abused and used as child soldiers for so called Tamil liberation….you need liberation all right that is from your own Tamil centric ethno racism ……

All the time when LTTE was active there was no mention of any rights of any community including the Tamil community and there political rights….

As soon as the LTTE was defeated militarily ALL talk centred around human rights

THIS is absolute hypo racy by the Tamil and their supporters…………

      Sinhala ( insane) Voice

Are you talking about morality and killing people? Compared to the 150000 Tamil civilians killed over the last 30 years by the Sinhala army and the Sinhala thugs including the 60 thousand Tamil civilians killed during the last days of the war the number of the armed sinhala civilians including homeguards killed by the Ltte will not even reach 3 thousand.

Although I do not condone killing of any civilians what LTTE did by way of civilian killing compared to the Sinhala side would make the So – called LTTE atrocities look like a teaparty compared to a large scale massacare of epic propotions carried out by the Sinhala army at Mullivaikkal and elsewhere in Vanni.

      • 0
        0

There were more than 5000 army personnel killed in the last 3 months

Where did you get the figure of 60000 and 150000 Tamils ?

The answer is you do not care how many many Sinhala people are killed in your drive towards the utopia of Tamil Eelam

You claim human rights now because your military project became unstuck..due to rajapaksha clear strategy to fight the terrorist ltte paramilitary with the military with no turning back…….

I would have been much happier if prabhakaran was captured alive to face the international criminal courts

          Sinhala voice.

I never said that the Sinhala lives didn’t matter. Even LTTE refrained from killing Sinhala civilians after the 1990. It is true that I have not included the Sinhala army killed in my calculation in the same way I didn’t include the number of the LTTE combatants killed in the figures I mentioned. The over all Tamil civilians killed through out the 30 year war and in the anti- Tamil pogroms is a conservative estimate of 150000. Killing of a large number of Tamil non combatants and civilians in excess of 60000 during the last days of the war in Vanni is going to be the subject of an international inquiry?

Pirabakaran according to my info was taken alive but killed later. Why? We are not claiming human rights because we are militarily defeated is non sense. If human rights is not going to be addressed the war will resume with a ferocity you can’t imagine.

But you get the drift, I agree with you those countires should be prosecuted as well. Isn’t it ironic that none of the elamist didn’t reply to my comment :)
