The Specter Of Gotabaya

By Sarath De Alwis

Sarath De Alwis

If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear” ~  George Orwell

Memory’s struggle against forgetting

A specter is haunting our land. It is the specter of a Gotabaya Rajapaksa Presidency in 2020. We have forgotten how we feared Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s inviable hand on the levers of power before 8th January 2015. I am too old to care.

These words are written not in fear but in despair. As novelist philosopher Milan Kundera said in lyrical elegance, our struggle against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.

Just this morning Dinesh Gunewardena was brushing off the Rathpaswala shooting as just another happenstance on a TV program called ‘news line’. That was a clever line for the son of the father of Marxism who denuded the Sinharaja rainforest for a plywood factory in his backyard. We all carry heavy baggage.

Gotabaya and Mahinda

A conniving president

With a conniving President Sirisena quietly egging on, there is little or nothing to halt Gotabaya’s ideology of Sinhala Buddhist exceptionalism gnawing in to the primitive minds of a majority of our majority tribe.

It is said that the tycoon brother Dudley Sirisena is the facilitator of this Faustian compact. That makes sense. Billionaire oligarchs flourish with all powerful leaders. Janadhipathi Thaththa is assured of a quiet retirement retreat in the obscurity that awaits a shameless, fraudulent prophet.

A President’s nincompoopery

Trapped in myth and legend, insisted upon as our impeccable heritage by a Sinhala Buddhist clerical mafia, we are deprived of a supportive culture either capable or equipped to embrace human progress in this day and age.

Thanks to the nincompoopery of President Sirisena, the unthinkable now seems inevitable.

That is, unless, this parliament succeeds in abolishing the executive presidency.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa will surely end up the supreme law giver of this blessed island. And worse, it will be in the guise of redeemer of the Sinhala Buddhist tribe.

We must get our facts straight. While many were repelled by the debauchery of his governance, Mahinda was and still is the one dominant leader in our midst. The absence of any credible competitors makes him much taller than he really is. The circus of the last three years demonstrates the point. Sirisena parading on his SLFP leader stilts to come up to Mahinda’s chin!

The historic coalition that ousted the Mahinda regime in 2015 was entirely energized by a collective fear of the deep state that functioned under his brother – the then defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Gotabaya – an anatomy

The record shows Gotabaya Rajapaksa to be less of a soldier and more of a manipulator. He left active service at the height of the war, migrated, renounced his nationality and never set foot on the land of his birth until the brother contested the presidency.

Gotabaya is Cleonymus   the Athenian general who dropped his shield in battle and fled. But then, he made up for his abandonment by carefully constructing a persona of achiever, go getter and warrior hero capping his rise with a sycophant profiler obligingly producing a tome titled Gota’s War.

He jailed the soldier who won the war and claimed title to the victory with the Sangha notarizing the deeds.  Today he is well positioned to climb the greasy poll of power. He will do it with ease and relish. An obliging Buddhist Sangha fraternity will wipe off the grease with their saffron wraps and tilt the pole to an easy, accessible angle.

Giving the devil his due

That said, it must be recognized that as Defense Secretary he conceptualized the campaign that made soldiering for the legitimate state a righteous and virtuous calling.

Post war he made it a political project. The pride in the uniform and remembrance of the fallen were brilliantly used to capture the imagination of the nation.

That it produced a Sinhala Buddhist constituency for Gotabaya is an accidental by product. Gotabaya cannot be blamed for that. However, our common sense directs us to be alert to the danger. His gauleiters- General Kamal Gunaratne and Admiral Sarath Weerasekera have given us enough reason to be wary of a Gotabaya presidency.

The image of the heroic soldier was created at considerable moral cost. It totally rejected even the minutest empathy for the minorities whose genuine grievances were construed as an existential threat to the Sinhala people. Any empathy with the minorities- the Tamil people was identified with the coward, the malingerer and the deserter. It was a deliberate strategy. The man’s brilliance lies in his capacity to reinvent truth according to his personal agenda.

Why Gotabaya should be thwarted

A Gotabaya presidency promises a dreadful dystopia. It will bifurcate the Sinhala majority in to the heroic and the anti-heroic. The minorities, needless to say would be the enemy.

His ascendancy to power must be thwarted. Why? Because he is a vicious, vindictive, racist, control freak.

It is time to take stock of our predicament. We are a thinly disguised quasi theocracy. We are covered in a strange mosaic that combines the dark green battle fatigue of the patriotic soldier and the saffron robe of the patriotic priest.

Gotabaya has a finely tuned alliance with the Sinhala Buddhist Sangha who are either genuine Sinhala nationalists or pure and simple political operatives clad in robes.

Unravelling the Sangha

In Sri Lanka the saffron robe is not a refuge from worldly affairs. On the contrary, it is but an entrée to social advancement.

Once ordained they develop peculiar hobbies such as taming baby Elephants, feeding them with tamarind pods. Some die in the process!

These clerics are elites and their temples are manorial enclaves of great prestige. They radiate fearsome shadowy power over believers and followers.

They have their own definitions and values of social justice and human rights. (If Eknaligoda had LTTE links or Lasantha had links with foreign NGOs they forfeit their human rights)

They are manipulative maestros in defining proper behavior for themselves and their flock. They claim an inherent and natural prestige. They exert an unimaginable influence over a people held hostage to tradition and social norms. They are a pivotal breed of political players in Gotabaya’s great game.

The autocrat seduces them with patronage. They return the favour by legitimizing the autocracy. The intensity of their attachment to the teachings of the Buddha is propionate to the engine capacity of their limousines.

This writer is a practicing Buddhist now in his 75th year. My children are under strict instructions to avoid any saffron mumbo jumbo when I board the ferry. No need for dead weight!

The Dream Candidate

Gotabaya Rajapksa is the dream candidate of this cold and calculating class of the Sinhala Buddhist Sangha. They fast during day and feast at night. They celebrate celibacy with a sensual and venal élan.  Their Nirvana is perfected through centuries of politicking behind curtains since the time of our Kandyan kings.

Prince Siddhartha renounced once when he left his palace. Our soldier statesman will do better. He has once renounced his Sri Lankan citizenship. Now he has promised to renounce his US citizenship. That is a double whammy in the business of renunciation. It qualifies as an ‘avant-garde’ redemption!

The abyss that awaits

The last three years have demonstrated the futility of converting a patrimonial state in to a functional democracy. In the patrimonial state, the sources of power- status and wealth are concentrated in the state. The political class and the priestly class are in a symbiotic compact sharing the spoils.

Gotabaya has the capacity, the will and the skill to construct the perfect garrison state. In his ‘Brave New World ‘Aldous Huxley described the kind of state that Gotabaya will preside over. It will be an efficient totalitarian state.  It will be one ‘in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.’

Sarath, tell me, when all the civic society, western boot lickers, the key board warriors of the rainbow revolution, the home made Geobbles were spreading bitter lies over the internet, did Gota or his Brother block the Social networks? If you fear Gota why not stay put wherever you are.

What is in it for you?
If Gota didn’t allow social media how could he identify, locate, catch and make them disappear?

You are also another stupid brainless Sinhala/Buddhist who cannot see beyond his/her nose. Are you still sitting on your brain if you have one?

I curse the spineless cowards of Yahapalanaya. They failed to put this paranoid criminal behind bars. Despite overwhelming evidence of ghastly crimes. Welcome, Sri Lanka’s DUTERTE. Gota Raja!
      Cheers!
PS: May I remind everyone, this so-called “HERO” ran away from the military at the height of the war against the LTTE. By pleading for clemency at the feet of Rajan Wijerathne, on fraudulent mental issues. Rendering him unfit. Only came back from sunny California to reap the benefits of Mahinda Raja’s uncivilized, decade-long Presidency. Where is Gota Raja’s SLA HR file? Vital docs are missing. CRIMINAL COWARD!

What kind of patronage can DAYAN J ALZHEIMER expect? In our future GARRISON STATE, in that BRAVE NEW WORLD, run by ALL-POWERFUL, “BENEVOLENT”, IRON-FISTED, EXTRA-JUDICIAL EXECUTIONER & BRUTAL DICTATOR WANNABE aka Sri Lankan DUTERTE. Long live Gota Raja!
      Cheers!
      PS:
Long live the embarrassing stupidity of enslaved Sri Lankans aka BLOODY IDIOTS! Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Burghers, Malays etc alike. I am going to renounce my SL citizenship soon. SO EMBARRASSING!

Majority in population in SL knows now who to vote for including Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils. People have realised who are the liers. Internet heroes can not change peoples’ mind any more. What matters at the end what majority of population thinks.

Having experienced RW and MS governance (or lack of it) why not Gota?

    Are we blaming him for:
his contribution towards the anti LTTE strategy
motivating troops when they were demoralized by RW and Chandrika
after winning the war embarking on a rapid infrastructure development including beautification of Colombo

Yes, he will be a firm decisive leader. Isn’t that the need of the hour?

He is a rare talent. He is a strategist who can also implement and direct.

      Strategist,
Beautify your mind first. Before Colombo, you fool. Gota murdered 27 inmates inside Welikada prison in cold blood. Do you want to reward this paranoid, uneducated criminal with Sri Lanka’s powerful Presidency?
      Cheers!

Sarath, why don’t you write about Gota’s achievement at all? At least a bit of it: reorganizing the Trifoces, being a major pillar of the victory against terror, beatification of Colombo, giving lasting solutions to many issues we faced ….. etc etc). Why are you so partial like a third class muckraking journalist? At least write a balance article so that moderate readers can enlighten themselves and enjoy! Thanks.

It is only because we have leaders like Ranil that Rajpakses look good. He completely mishandled the LTTE and allowed Rajapakses to become heroes .Ranil thought he will manipulate the LTTE

He talked about Rajapkse corruption but could not handle the investigation and prosecution . He thought he will just keep the SLFP fighting and manipulate them( Maithri vs Mahinda )

Then he tried to show there is some thing special in himself and his few old royalist gang. Now they all stand naked,

They cannot even keep colombo clean

He who talked about Rajapakse and also other peoples corruption himself committed the biggest fraud of all with his crooked bedfellow Mahendran.

Is it unnatural ( not unnatural sex ! ) for the people to now see Rajapkses ( even with so many murders, corruption, Mig deal etc etc) as saviours from this hypocritical and incompetent rascals from one old school in Colombo ?

“Gothabaya is a brilliant general. “

Well how did you manage to come to this conclusion about the national slaughterer? He was mostly in hiding or slaughtering his own innocent people when Hindians invaded/occupied this island. Then he was missing for 13 years. Then came back when his brother was appointed Prime Minister.

By the time he was appointed Defense secretary Hindians had already submitted a plan to Chandrika to find a FINAL SOLUTION for LTTE. It was coincidence he was in the right place at the right time. It was also bad time for the people.

I don’t understand why he didn’t fight the invading Hindians?

“I don’t understand why he didn’t fight the invading Hindians?”

It was the Tiger terrorists who fought the invading Indians and not the Sri Lankan forces.
Sri Lankan forces had their hands tied and locked up in barracks by the usualy incompetent UNP leadership.
Those who couldn’t bear to watch what is taking place left. That is not running away. In fact there was no war to run away from. The president of the country was showering the Tigers with Cement, Iron bars, Money and weapons.

We have seen how the so called electronic media toppled the Rajapaksa government. Sirisena in ascending to office praised the young people who helped to make this a reality. The infamous 10,000 laptops distributed with the blessings of American Embassy helped to revolt this scenario. They used most bogus information and fake news to sling mud at the former regime. However, now the very Sirisena says the biggest threat for Sri Lankan unity is media. When media is in their side that is considered by these western so called democracies. But when they are in the hands of somebody else it is bad. When Ranil, Athulathmudali and Gamini ushered JRJ constitution it was a good one. Then when it is in the hands of somebody else it was bad. The irony was very Ranil who was an architect for that constitution will become a champion to abolish the instiution. The very people who talk about term limits for President do not give that restriction to Prime Minister’s office.

There is not much difference with Gotabaya and Sarath Fonseka. People of Sri Lanka are not mature to handle advantages given to them by democracy. They always think of a strong leader. The want gentleman qualities inn the strong leader. This they will never get. They get feed up with one strong leader and switch to another trying to achieve a good country. This will never happen. Get mature!

DJ: Jayampathi wickramrathne is LSSP but a natoional list MP in UNP. He says he is there because he also wants to earn some wealth as a minister. There is another competitior he has not told anything yet though. Phillip gunawardane when he was a minister he had earned wealth every way possible. The evidence is, besides his wealth in his boralugoda area, his whole family is loyal subjects to the Queen. He and Ranil wickrmasinghe had travelled all over the world to about 100 countries. Dinesh gunawardane says he did not do politics because he had accumulated enough wealth from his father. But, now he also like to come to politics. As he is a wealthy land owner, his aim is UNP party leader and contest the elelction as the President. So, there may be some changes in Pohottuwa.

Thank you very much for an honest and intelligent bit of analysis, Sarath.
Is it any surprise that “The usual suspects” trot out their tired “war hero” rhetoric in respect of this totally ruthless and violent man?
As for “honours” dished out to Gota, I have one simple response – consider the source!

One omission from your piece was the fact that, while Mahinda was leading marches with regard to the”disappeared” of the second JVP insurrection, and seeking to engage the international community in his quest for a stop to the butchery, his brother, Gota, was chief of the military unit in the Matale area. (Coincidentally I’m sure) a few years back, a mass grave containing 300+ bodies was found in the MATALE HOSPITAL GROUNDS. No one contested when this grave was filled with bodies: it was in the late ‘eighties/early ‘nineties.
The fact that a proper inquiry into this monstrous event was not held by the previous regime is no surprise. However, the fact that the Yahapalanaya regime has ignored it as well speaks volumes about the “Unuth ekai, Munuth ekai” regimes we’ve been burdened with!

Usual bullshit from a Sri Lanka hating colonial remnant occupying our lands illegally! Carbon dating of Matale bones revealed that they were the result of a British mass murder following the 1817 rebellion. Pieces of crap trying to erase their shitty history should be punished by mob law.

Were you expecting unusual crap from him?

“Carbon dating of Matale bones revealed that they were the result of a British mass murder following the 1817 rebellion. “

Could you shed more light on carbon dating of Matale skeletons.
Who did the carbon dating? Where did the carbon dating take place? Where was the report published? Where can we access the final report?

“Pieces of crap trying to erase their shitty history should be punished by mob law.”

No one in this forum wants Dr Gota’s law.
A word of caution, when Gota’s crap hit the fan please remember to close your mouth.

        Brit Hater:
Would you please produce proof that these corpses dated back to 1817? Did or did not Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, as Secretary of Defence, send the “Matale bones” to some place, in China with no international standing in the field?
The fact that you have a new pseudonym doesn’t conceal the lower form of life that you are and which is so apparent in the filth that you excrete.
        P.S.

        Brit Hater:
The absolute FARCE that was the so-called investigation into the Matale Mass Grave is amply documented on a variety of websites, including Colombo Telegraph.
All of it proves conclusively that there IS NO EVIDENCE THAT THE MATERIAL WAS SENT ANYWHERE., leave alone some Chinese laboratory.

What can we do? Our population, specially the majority community is blessed with short memories and blatantly nationalistic attitudes that override any love for the land!
Poor Sarath De Alwis with this excellent piece, trying his best to rekindle some endearment to this beautiful green island blessed with nature’s endowments but inhabited by a population bereft of vision for a fitting future.

Hi Sarath, are you mad? Or you must have got citizenship in another country and waiting in the departure lounge at Katunayaka. Or may be you have terminal cancer and will avoid his Presidency.

All what you said is true, but Sri Lanka does not need a President or Prime Minister, but a King. Gota would be the right King to put the people, majority and minority, in their places.

It is very unfortunate why our people forget the fearful years we had from 1986 to 1989 where dead bodies found in every road every river and every university. It is estimated 60,000 were killed by UNP and JVP. aren’t their lives important. Anyone can read “Batalanda” commission report in the internet where Sri Lanka’s official killing field was maintained. Madam Chandrika didn’t punish Mr. RW for his involvement. White vans were started in 1971 when JVP started its revolution Armed services and Police didn’t have enough vehicles and Government started taking over white vans. No one used them like fearful years we had from 1986 to 1989.

I know Daily telegraph will only publish anything written by RW supporter. I expect them to educate young generation about whet we experience during “fearful years we had from 1986 to 1989” how UNP policies and actions destroyed our country and encourage ethnic violence. Why people forget how 1977 MR. JRJ challenging Mr. Amirthalingam and in 1983 taking a decision to hold funeral service of dead soldiers in Colombo instead of their respective villages and delaying imposing curfew how ethnic violence became uncontrollable.

The facts the writer put forward his arguments are very week and[edited out]For example, Gota never left the country when the war was at the peak he left when the Govt. trying to negotiate a peace deal with LTTE. Sarath Fonseka and Navy commander didn’t look at each other when the war was at peak all important matters between three, may be five including police, forces were coordinated by Gota. President was not in the country army commander was not in the last stages of war and Gota coordinated successful conclusion of the war. If you read carefully Gota has given answers, in his previous published communications, to all the points writer raised. What the writer is trying to do is not to show the other side of of Gota. He was trying to attack the Buddhist monks which is being organised all over the world by all NGOs, INGOs and destroy Buddhism. [edited out]

I agree with Nimal Edirisinghe. This article is based on half truth and false information and many readers would not take the content seriously. His allegation against monks in general is not acceptable at all.
It is unfortunate that Sarath de Alwis who possesses the talent of expressing something clearly in English has fallen to the despicable level of a muck raking journalist. Readers will be careful when they read his future articles.

Good points by Nimal Edirisinghe. That stupid CBK and Ranil almost handed the country over to the LTTE. CBK tried to negotiate with dictator Prabhakaran, even though LTTE was holding so much territory. You cannot negotiate without leverage. CBK lost so many territories – Elephant Pass, Mullaitivu, Kilinochi – and then went for a federal solution. Mahinda did the opposite. He captured more and more territory, starting with the East, rather than negotiating. LTTE got boxed in, with the Sri Lankan Army to the South, and the Indian Navy providing naval and aerial surveillance to the North. Mahinda was correct to apply maximum force, otherwise the war would have continued for many more years. LTTE chose to fight to the end – that is the real reason why so many people died towards the end.

Nothing will change anything if the rule of law is not enforced strictly 100%…
Sirisena or Ranil do not do that for reasons they all know..and others too. it’s all dirty politics..
No one takes care of law and order here…that’s the main problem.
The armed forces, STF in Kandy just enjoyed the burning and mayhem instead of preventing it. They in fact encouraged arson against Muslims..yes this is a fact…
They are the so called “RANAWIRUWOS” of the nation ! My foot.
The saffron robed thugs are sadhus or nationalists and armed forces thugs are called Ranawiruwos”…
It’s all the works of shady political ba**ards…who were groomed by shit politicians ..
When Britishers ruled, there were rule of law but after they left things slowly and gradually disappeared..
Even during the riots of 1977 there was some kind of law and order…but not any more…
That was why all the Burghers left the country and migrated to Australia…
Tamils were forcibly chased away and some Muslims too..and many Indian origin Tamils sent packing or chased out..after toiling in the cold tea estates producing the best economical product-TEA.
We were very un greatful and stupid people for doing that due to this paranoia and insecure mindset.
Gota is a devil and a destructor of people and nation…beware..he is a maniac , a mentally disturbed individual..who loves killing and feeding his victims to his beloved sharks ! YES !!
Don’t become a victim of him and go inside a shark’s belly.
So avoid voting for this thug, a mad man of our country..
He will never make it to any position in our future,,,]
There is a god watching all this and the god knows when to stop him or this kind of blood thirsty animals.
Even MR coming back is just okay but not Gota baya rascal…please..
    Thank you.

Sarath’s always aim to belittle Sinhala Budhists against others to be in the good book of them. Gota left the country experiencing the wasteful war without any reliable political backing. Fonseka would not be significant if political back born was not there in the country. Analyse what Fonseka said prior to end of war in 2009. Don’t let down prominent people for your mania.

    6

This is an exceptionally good piece of analysis. The fact that it is written by somebody who was earlier singing the praises of MARA makes it all the more significant. Gota has been undressed. So has the political Sanga. We need more and more candid accounts like this. No intellectual or writer can afford to be a bystander. Dayan Jayatilleka, on the other hand, has lost all public respect because he is dishonest and personally vindictive. While reason comes from Sarath De Alwis, poison emanates from the petrified writing of Dayan. The eventual end of these two writers will be conditional to these differences.

Gota left the Army in a honorable way following the legal procedures . You had been employed in Sri Lankan Airlines then Air Lanka as a Country Manager and you were kicked out of the airline for manipulating and misdirecting the Board of Directors during your assessment of the airlines operation to Australia which finally became a disaster. it is left to the public to decide the efficiency of this writer and Gota who protected our motherland from the murderers.

“Gota left the Army in a honorable way following the legal procedures .”

      Oh please.
Dr Gota heard about the ferocity of first Elephant Pass battle (June 1991) and decided to run away and he did run away in 1992. USA was pleased/impressed by how Gota/Sarath/Janaha…………. team went on search and destroy missions and indeed destroyed innocent persons and families between 1987 and 1990. He was rewarded the US green card for his contribution to eradication of terrorism, in fact an insurance policy to protect him and his family from JVP terrorists.

USA always airlift its lackeys at the last moment. In his case it issued green card in good time.

While I do not share Sarath’s paranoia, let’s for a moment take his complaint on face value. Who is to blame for Gota’s ascendancy? It is yahapalanistas (which Sarath was an ardent soldier) regime change project in order to defeat Sinhala Buddhists for the benefit of minority separatist agenda under a Western (& Indian) geopolitical master game that should take responsibility for providing space for a need for a leader of Gota’s caliber. Sarath should look inward to find out what happened to his wisdom when he coopted the yahapalana project in 2015. He should stop blaming others (Sinhalese, sanga etc etc)

EXCELLENT SACH. A fitting reply to Sarath who I doubt has done anything to SL apart from being a rabble rouser. With his useless followers in this forum.

Maithripala Sirisena has raised Nincompoopery to a new level. He appointed Madduma Bandara – a man who cannot say Boo! to a goose – as the Minister of Law and Order, for the express purpose of obstructing justice. Just to make doubly sure, he has given a list of the sacred cows to the new minister, with strict instructions not to touch them! Whither Good Governance, Whither Sri Lanka?

GR should NOT go for the presidency even he can win,but should be the main wire puller within the establishment similar to what we saw as the defence secretary and over looking the UDA.

Gotabhaya is not as patriotic as one wants to believe.
He is a patriotic US citizen who put US before Sri Lanka and signed ACSA (Acquisition and Cross-border Agreement) in 2007 allowing U.S. and Sri Lanka to provide/exchange logistics and re-fuelling during peacekeeping missions and humanitarian operations and providing logistical supplies in exchange for reimbursement “in any way the US wants” may be exchanging the same value, may be in cash or “replacement in kind”. They say it doesn’t allow the US to invade countries but they can send “peacekeeping forces” to conduct “humanitarian operations.”
For an example: if there are communal riots in the extreme, between Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, US can intervene by way of sending a peacekeeping “mission.”
If the Agreement was currently in operation , US could have escalated the riots by using “their own agents/spies” to a high enough magnitude as they did in many other countries and sent a “peacekeeping force” “by right.”. They have done that without an agreement all over the world. ACSA is a gross betrayal for one’s motherland. I also came to know about this in 2017 when the Slave Government tried to extend it for another 5 years and like some others I also made a few comments about the unpredictability and insecurity it carries. Fortunately President Sirisena didn’t allow it.
Gotabhaya’s flat statement that he would relinquish his US citizenship if only he is selected to contest for Sri Lanka’s Presidency provides ample proof where his loyalty is.
I am against his possible candidacy as the future President and I have valid reasons.

Mr Sarath De Alwis as a senior citizen at the age of 70s you should not sling mud at a true hero seen in this decade who saved the country from the ruthless murderers. When paying tribute to him for his role in the war people do not consider his race, religion, caste etc even if Gota is a muslim, tamil or of any other nationality citizens of SL will salute him . I noticed one comment that said you are a failed very senior member of Sri Lankan Airlines . Considering your designation as an ex Country Manager which is considered as prestigious and highly respectable job you have again failed miserably to judge the load of work done by Gota. Please do remember that if Ranil was the hero of the war people of this country will salute him disregarding his religion and politics.

True hero should have given his American citizenship at least on 15 May 2009. True hero will not bargain between Presidency and American Citizenship

    Nice one Sarath!

A veritable tour de force. Alas, the inevitable awaits us. As the sage said “‘it will get worse, before it gets better”. Better batten down the hatches before the muck spreaders arrive.

Sarath seems to have developed selective amnesia : He has conveniently forgotten the services rendered by GR.
According to Sarath, GR could do no right!

Wonderful theory : Don’t grab the best chance we have but in the name of psuedo Good Governance, let the circus continue!
