The Work Begins

By Tisaranee Gunasekara

“If we lift the hideous rags of History, we find this: hierarchy versus equality and order versus liberty.” ~ Éric Vuillard (The Order Of The Day)The indications are clear, as are the implications. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, elected on a Sinhala-Buddhist supremacist platform intends to rule as a Sinhala-Buddhist supremacist president.

For the first time in Independent Ceylon/Sri Lanka, we have a cabinet of ministers without a single Muslim member. Nor is there a Muslim amongst the 38 state/deputy ministers. Of the 54 cabinet and non-cabinet ministers, there are just two Tamils and one woman. Even the state minister for Women’s Affairs is a man.

Sinhalese, who constitute around 75% of the populace, make up more than 92% of the current stable of ministers.

That non-representative nature would have bothered every single previous Lankan leader, not excluding Mahinda Rajapaksa, perhaps. Not Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Since his election as the seventh executive president of Sri Lanka, he has given two major policy speeches. A key commonality in both is what is said about the minorities; and that is nothing.

The new status quo is unashamedly, openly, nakedly, majoritarian supremacist. The minorities (including non-Buddhist Sinhalese) have the freedom to accept this reality and live accordingly. Any other response, however peaceful, democratic, legal or constitutional, would be suspect as a grievous lack of patriotism.

Open adherence to Sinhala-Buddhist supremacism is not only the path Gotabaya Rajapaksa has chosen for himself and his government. It is also his biggest offering to his political and electoral base. The Rajapaksa base isn’t representative of Sri Lanka as it is in reality, a pluralist land with a mix of ethnicities, religions, languages and cultures. It is representative of an imaginary Sri Lanka, a Sinhala-Buddhist country, where the minorities exist only in a demographic sense, and in a shadowy form.

“The history and the future of Sri Lanka do not belong to any group alone,” President Ranasinghe Premadasa once said (Address at the Annual Prize Giving of St. Thomas’ College, Mt Lavinia – 1990). Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his base believe the opposite; they think that the history of Sri Lanka was a Sinhala-Buddhist one, and the future of Sri Lanka should also be a Sinhala-Buddhist one. Creating that majoritarian paradise is what Gotabaya Rajapaksa promised to do. It is a promise he seems intent on keeping, at whatever cost to really existing Sri Lanka.

On the road to Paradise

The pledge to turn Sri Lanka into a Sinhala-Buddhist paradise has a political and an economic component. The political component consists of abandoning ethno-religious pluralism both in deed and word. No more bahu katha (talk about pluralism). No more promises of equality. The first task of the state is to look after Sinhala-Buddhists and Sinhala-Buddhism. Everything else follows from that.

So taking Sri Lanka back from the minorities, and giving it to its rightful owners, is the first step in the journey to Paradise. Gotabaya Rajapaksa is fulfilling this part of the paradisiacal promise openly and speedily.

The government might flip-flop when it comes to other matters. For instance, it issued a circular on December 7th 2019, granting a monthly allowance of Rs. 15,000 to executive grade officers in the public sector. It issued another circular exactly a month later, on January 7th 2020, suspending that allowance. The Treasury Secretary said that the government will continue to follow Mangala Samaraweera’s fuel price formula. Less than 48 hours later, a state minister tweeted saying the government will not follow that or any other formula. In the matter of economic policies, the Rajapaksa and Rajapaksa regime seems even more inconsistent than the Sirisena-Wickremesinghe administration.

But there is no such flip-flopping when it comes to putting the minorities in their place. In that regard, the government is moving in a straight line, with no stumbles or U turns. The announcement was made, months in advance, that the national anthem will be sung only in Sinhalese at the Independence Day. No more Tamil national anthem. No more ethnic problem either, so no need for any solution. The matter was resolved at Nandikadal, and that was that. If the minorities feel insecure, it is their own fault. No arguments, no negotiations.

So the prices of consumer essentials can be high and getting higher. There might be a severe shortage of fertiliser. School uniform vouchers are yet to be distributed in most places. The bag of nutrition given to pregnant mothers from low-income families is no more. But for Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s Sinhala-Buddhist base, for his core voters, none of these would be a deal breaker. The political project is going great. The economics will follow.

First we take the country back from the aliens and give it to the true owners. Then we develop it.

The old lie helps, the recasting of class relations in ethno-religious terms, the bourgeois minorities (who are also pro-imperialist) vs. Sinhala-Buddhist workers and peasants (in the SLFP rendering, monks, Ayurvedic physicians and teachers are added). That pernicious lie has remained deeply engrained, in part because no political party has challenged it. On the contrary, almost all political parties have tried to use it to their electoral advantage time and again. The JVP even tried to make the revolution, twice, on that basis.

Thanks to that deeply held belief, that etched-in-stone worldview, there is no visible, audible discontent amongst the core Rajapaksa voters about rising prices and other socio-economic ills. In order to redistribute to, you must first take from those who have stolen our patrimony. Before the game begins, the playing field must be made uneven. The government is doing it. That gives it credibility in the collective gaze of its base. That buys it time.

The best way to murder a pluralist democracy is to depict it as beneficial to the minorities. What is good for them is naturally bad for us. Political freedoms are good for them; an independent judiciary is good for them; a weakened executive is good for them. To get to the promised land, the land promised to us by Gotabaya Rajapaksa, all that must be trashed.

Like the 19th Amendment.

Parliamentarian Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has proposed two constitutional amendments as private members’ motions. One aims to make the president supreme, to give him all the powers to appoint superior court judges, the Attorney General and the Auditor General.

The other would increase the cut off point for parliamentary representation from the current 5% to 12%. The aim is to reduce minority representation in parliament. But it will have a deadly effect on the JVP as well, and even the SLFP. For instance, if that rule is applied to the 2018 local government election, the SLFP will have representation only from 13 districts while the JVP will have representation from only one district.   .

Unenlightened self-interest is suicidal in the long term because it is blinding from word go. Closing the doors of the parliament to the minorities and the JVP would be an act of unparallel idiocy. It will pave the way not to moderation but to extremism, not to reconciliation but to new strife.

The Rajapaksas probably know it, but it is unlikely to bother them. Because that will give them an enemy to showcase, vilify, and use as a scapegoat for militarisation and repression.

One of the programmes the government is planning to implement as a matter of priority is to provide jobs to 100,000 young people from low-income families who have not got through their O Levels. On the surface, this seems a measure aimed at combating poverty. But there is more. The Defence Ministry will oversee the programme. The candidates will be chosen and trained by the military. They will then be deployed in government institutions, mostly schools and hospitals. Militarisation of the economy and society will taken one more great leap, under the guise of poverty alleviation. And the Rajapaksas will have a version of Brown Shirts, young, uneducated, malleable, trained to obey, whatever the orders are. They will be a Rajapaksa force in the truest sense in the word.

The fate of the 47%

Almost 48% of the electorate voted against Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the return of the Rajapaksa raj. This includes almost the totality of the minorities and more than one third of the majority.

In the upcoming parliamentary election they can play a critical role in denying the Rajapaksas the two-thirds majority they so desperately desire.

Unfortunately this 47.6% of the electorate has vanished from public sight and from political considerations, as if they never existed.

The minority parties are struggling to form a response to a regime which is committed to a new order where the dominant ethno-religious group reigns while everyone else has to exist on terms of explicit and structural inequality. In this Sri Lanka, a monk slapping a pastor is pro forma. Or a monk decreeing how much sex-education should be given to school children.

The JVP misread the conjuncture in which the presidential election was held. The moment Gotabaya Rajapaksa became the SLPP’s presidential candidate, any realistic space for a third force dwindled. The JVP should have done better had it committed itself to the task of stopping Gotabaya. That was what the moment demanded. Instead the JVP decided to turn sectarian in the worst sense. Instead of adopting popular front tactics, as the occasion demanded, it tried to create a false equivalency between Gotabaya and the UNP.

The JVP didn’t expect to win. But the extent of its defeat seemed to have stunned it into a near-paralysis state. Its continuing failure to place itself at the forefront of the anti-Rajapaksa component of the electorate cannot but impact negatively on its prospects at the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The UNP’s plight is equally self-made. Instead of becoming a voice for the 47% that voted against the Rajapaksas, the UNP is busying itself with internal battles. Instead of burnishing its image as a Lankan party, it is trying to regress into majoritarianism.

Sajith Premadasa thought he could beat Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the Sinhala-Buddhist supremacist game. He failed then. He will fail again. The Sinhala-Buddhist supremacist component of the electorate can never be weaned away from the SLPP so long as the four Rajapaksa siblings are in the game. They belong to the Rajapaksas, body, soul, and vote. No amount of pandering to Sinhala-Buddhist supremacism can change that situation.

The UNP’s best chance is to understand its strengths and build on those. Its base is not in the hinterland, but in the urban centres. Its winning formula is not racism but ethno-religious pluralism and progressive economics.

The Sinhala-Buddhist core of the Rajapaksa base might be content with how things are going. But the same may not be true of the floating voters. Those floating voters cannot be won over by mimicking the Rajapaksas. To win them over, the UNP must hone in on every broken promise, every flip-flopping by the government. It must talk about prices of consumer essentials and the open nepotism and cronyism in key appointments. It must explain why the government is trying to kill the forensic audit report into bond issues by the Central Bank. It must talk about the social and environmental consequences of the government’s decision to scrap the permit-requirement for the transportation of sand, gravel and soil. It must expose and oppose every misdeed of the government. Instead the new opposition leader is busy organising monthly bana preachings in his new office premises. Not quite a winning formula.

But then Sajith Premadasa is not good at winning elections, as his performance in his chosen base of Hambantota demonstrates. At the presidential election, the UNP scored the lowest in the district its candidate has represented for more than two decades – 25.9% in Hambantota compared to 42% nationally. That abysmal performance belongs to Sajith Premadasa alone. It is not something he can blame of Ranil Wickremesinghe or anyone else.

How can a man who has consistently failed to win his own electoral district or electorate lead the party to victory nationally? On what rational, factual grounds does he demand the UNP leadership? If Sajith Premadasa becomes the leader of the UNP, he will be a second Ranil Wickremesinghe, someone who will cling to that position irrespective until death or a younger contender do us part.

To impede Sri Lanka’s march into an unfree, divisive and destructive future, the Rajapaksas must be prevented from winning a two-thirds majority. It can be done. But will it be done?

Thisaranees’s assumptions are premature and unreasonable.
The main aim of this article is to project the current regime as a Sinhla Buddhist government. In order to further polarise the minoirities away from the SLPP.

The current regime will have to take concrete steps to prove that this is incorrect if it wishes to gain 2/3 majority at the the general election.

If not it will be another hung parliament.

The current regime is incapable of showing any sympathy for the minorities, since its core values are solely for the majority Sinhala Buddhists. It is pushing this country to another civil unrest just like SWRD did with his Sinhala only language issue. Gota is has no understanding of politics. He thinks he is still in the military.

        Tisarany,

You said, “For the first time in Independent Ceylon/Sri Lanka, we have a cabinet of ministers without a single Muslim member”

Muslims, being in the previous govt; what have they done to the community apart from making money and lands, & helping their own relatives, friends and other henchmen? In a democratic country, why should we think that it has to be a Muslim minister to serve the Muslims? Today the Muslims have gone to the dogs, They’re there in every illegal activity from a poor ‘petty kade’ short-eats sellers to corporate businessmen. Only thing that they are hiding behind victim cards, minority card and religious cards. Remember, if Sinhalese let the Muslims loose, SL will lose its real identity & the values Sinhalese have built for centuries. Muslims have to be disciplined, reformed & take them out of the mentality that they think everything can be achieved through shortcuts.

I am a born Muslim, and I know them well.

          Mohd,
          You are right brother
If Mr G can bring order to the country
Keep the Militant Budhist monks at arms length
and drive the country to peace and prosperity
          So be it.

Yes, Mr GR has already sorted out the racist, murderous Tamil Terrorists. He has given the racist, genocidal Tamil terrorists a humiliating defeat. He has brought peace and order to the country. Prosperity is assured.

You are no Muslim. You are a fan of the Myanmar and Chinese method of discriminating Muslims. Before anyone is disciplined, the arrogant racists who think they own this country, must stop their pea sized brain from thinking the minority don’t belong here, and stop the Sinhala Buddhist nationalists from attacking, and targeting the minority.
Are you so ignorant to think Sinhala Buddhist don’t commit crimes?
In fact the majority Sinhala Buddhists in our government is constantly doing so, ripping off the entire nation.

“In a democratic country, why should we think that it has to be a Muslim minister to serve the Muslims ?”

          Excellent question

Alhamdulillah Brother Mohd, like you I am yet another born Muslim Sri Lankan.

Promoting the idea that Muslims need Muslims to represent them in Parliament is a ploy adopted by bankrupt Muslim Political Parties and the Scholars to ensure their dominance over the community. What the Muslim community does not seem to realize is that this enhances and sharpens the ‘Us vs Them’ mentality among all Sri Lankans.

Mohd has given an excellent reply to the writer (TG) as to why there are no Muslims in the current Cabinet. Thanks to President GR who had the guts to demonstrate the fact that there are no Muslim leaders in the current lot who could impartially serve the nation. So far our ex-presidents and ex-PMs failed to call a spade a spade and we reaped the consequences dearly! For God’s sake, let’s erase this minority mentality from our brains and start the nation building process as one strong team! If a cabinet or any responsible position in the government is determined and given upon ethnic lines it will definitely be the PATH to disaster! That’s what happened to certain institutions controlled by certain Muslim ministers under Yahapalanaya. Under the Hon. Minister Rishad Badiudeen, one of Sathosa’s main centers had over 300 Muslims out of a total work force of about 500. Almost every contract to supply services and amenities had been given without tenders to Muslims with huge margins of profits (I mean, millions of rupees)!
Azad Sally, as a Governor, has allegedly interfered with the cases involving suspected Muslim youths. This has been revealed yesterday by the head of the Police team that had investigated those cases.
TG! when will be the end of this disastrous practice? People listened to you and your lot in 2015 and helped establish a Yahapalanaya; that turned out to be the most disastrous experiment in Sri Lanka’s governing history!
Thanks to Ranjan Ramanayake’s recorded phone conversations, you won’t ask in your next article why there is no actor in the current cabinet.

          Mohd, I am with you!
          .
The community is disgustingly bad, greedy & ready to do anything for money. The main reason is women don’t take leadership even in bringing up her own kids, most of the times, the mothers sleep a lot not bothered about kids school works or the kids play in the middle of busy roads or what they eat – But one thing she is very keen on, is to cover her with black Abaya. Fathers are too busy making money through shortcuts as you said to maintain bigger families, and to balance mothers’ virtual absence in the families. Obviously, these men become worst crooks in the society.
          .
I hope Prez Gota will target so called, ‘Muslim Areas’ in Colombo such as Maligawatte, Dematagoda ,etc and in other parts of the country, and scatter Muslims across to help Muslims themselves and stop extremism, thuggish life style growing in these areas. Otherwise, future Muslim generations will also become like how they are now. Everyone who was part of Easter Attacks had originated or had a link to this kind of areas, Keselwatte in Panadura, Dematagoda in Colombo, Beruwala, Kolannawa and then Katankudy.

Thank you too. You always encouarge us CT readers that join to comment here from various destinations. People lack WISDOM in the country today. It is just that retired teachers of your nature after their retirement get cornered not being able to share their experience. A dozen of yours like personalities could do lot more towards the tangible changes of the society. No doubt abou that.

That intelligent lady in the VIDEO explains it as no other, but rata thanakola (the special kind of grass growing in srilanka for animal fodder) eaters dominated srilanka would nod their head to that monk and his basless public statements on the ” grade 7 book – for 11-12 year olds”. That is just age, that youth turn out to enter their teenage with physically and innerly chainging their body and soul respectively.

Today, I happened to call a few hospitals down there for a good work for the people who are really in need – we have been planning to go for this at the end of next month.

I work in Europe and I cant know the systems well at my once upon a time home country- today. I get easily hurt by every tiny move which is seen as normal to the locals.

Anyway for a charity work, I should tolerate almost everything. My mother is my religion and I now dont trust anyone even if some good impression is sitll there towards true buddhism.

The monks hijacked the Buddhism, and transformed Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhisam” into Buddagama, Buddha’s-religion, with monk hegemony, All the imbeciles to prostrate to the monks, out of fear.

The Rajapaksa Mafia latched on to it, to come to power, just the same way SWRD , the Christian turned Buddhist latched in to Sinhala only, only to be shot by a monk, while prostrating to him.

The Rajapaksa Mafia is hoping to get along with it as its is the way to power , and to get the imbeciles, mean IQ 79, who prostate to the monks to vote fnor them.

Who believes in the elusive Nibbana and Bana any more? They all are after power and hegemony.

      Tissaranee Gunasekera,
      Re: The Work Begins,
The first 6 Para-Kings and the Para-subjects were not influenced by the Para- monks, who hijacked Buddhism, and installed themselves as the 3rd Gem of the Triple Gem. Subsequently? The monks got the imbeciles, the Kings and the rulers to prostrate to them, promising the elusive Nibbana, after death, provided they agree to the Monk hegemony and prostrate to them , and take care of them.
In fact, about 10 percent of the productive lands were given to the monks for their upkeep and maintenance.
Subsequently, due to the various historical events and invasions, there were distractions from the Monk hegemony. Monk Mahanama in the 5th/6 th Century ( there were no Christians, Muslims at that time in the Land) felt threatened by the resurgence of Hinduism/Brahmanism, and wrote the Mahaeamsa, to keep the Land as a refuge for the Monk hegemony for 5,000 years.
      What do the monks want?
Monk hegemony, and prostration to the monks, in return for the elusive promise of Nibbana, so far no Para has achieved.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa did the math and figured out, if they they get 72 percent of the Sinhala Buddhists to select them and elect them as their representatives, they can get back to power, given that the mean IQ of the populace is 79, and the Sinhala Buddhists 78.
This worked, even though 28 percent of the more intelligent Sinhala Buddhists did not fall for it.
The majority were, but not all, especially when the mean measured IQ was 79. Based on the events since independence from the high mean IQ 100 British, and the important position given to the imbecile monks, and the Modayas prostrating to them, there is substantial evidence that prostrations have added to the the limitations of genetics.

            S. C. Pasqual,

Are you still prostrating to the monks? Why? Because you are imbecile? It shows!

The mean IQ of 79. shows.

The monks, after hijacking Buddhism, modifying to suit their hegemonic needs, further modifying it in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, to Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhism” , generality known as Buddhagama, have really turned into imbeciles, by throwing the elusive Nibbana, Nirvana carrot and scaring the hell out of you, to prostrate to them. Suckers!

Don’t you see that the monks have hijacked Buddhism, distorted Buddhism and is an insult to the Buddha and his Dhamma? Imbeciles can’t see that.

The term imbecile was once used by psychiatrists to denote a category of people with moderate to severe intellectual disability, as well as a type of criminal. The word arises from the Latin word imbecillus, meaning weak, or weak-minded. It included people with an IQ of 26–50, between “idiot” (IQ of 0–25) and “moron” (IQ of 51–70).In the obsolete medical classification (ICD-9, 1977), these people were said to have “moderate mental retardation” or “moderate mental subnormality” with IQ of 35–49.

11-Year-Old Iranian Girl Gets the Highest Mensa IQ Score, Beating Einstein, Hawking

An 11-year-old Iranian high school student in the United Kingdom is making headlines for getting a remarkable result on her Mensa IQ test that even surpasses those of great thinkers such as Albert Einstein and the late Professor Stephen Hawking.

Tara Sharifi, a student at Aylesbury High School, recently took the Mensa IQ test in Oxford where she scored well above the “genius benchmark” of 140.

The 11-year-old student scored 162 points on the test, which is two points ahead of Einstein, a theoretical physicist who is considered as one of the two pillars of modern physics, and famous cosmologist Professor Stephen Hawking.

The Mensa IQ test, which needed to be answered within a set time, focused on the student’s ability to understand the meanings of words, according to Iran Front Page.

The more you bend, the more you prostrate, you get the Monk support. The Rajapaksa Mafia bent more, prostrated more.

The monks are saying we are the king makers. Maintain our hegemony. Let us do what we want inside the temples during monk training.

Guess the Hindus, the Christians and the Muslims do not prostrate to the monks, and that may be one of the problems they have, in addition to not impressed with the elusive Nibbana.

Go and prostrate to the monks, make them happy, see if you or anybody else you know who prostrates will get to the elusive Nibbana, and please let us all know.

The monks hijacked Buddhism to maintain their hegemony. Para-Sinhala Para-“Buddhism ” , “Buddagama”, needs reform.

The Priests, Rabbi hijacked Judaism to maintain their hegemony. Judaism went through reformation.

The Popes, Cardinals and Bishops hijacked Christianity. Martin Luther reformed it.

          The Ulama hi jacked Islam.

The Rajapaksa Mafia, hijacked, Para-Sinhala Para-“”Buddhism”, just the same way monks hijacked Buddhism.

      Tissaranee Gunesekera,

Can you write an article on Sinhala Buddhism-Better Explained?

This could be a sequel to this article. There are sufficient materials for several articles.

Many, including the imbeciles, are confused. Many say Sinhala- Buddhism is a distortion of Buddhism and is an insult to the Buddha.

Still others say, it is about Monk hegemony. The Politicians seem to have latched on to it, the prostrations. The Rajapaksa’s are riding on it, the way SWRD, rode on it, to be shot by monk Somarama while prostrating, who was not impressed by the Nirvana illusions, and was afraid of Hell.

All these will reverberate on them sooner than later, I believe in truth ane true teachings of buddha. I am speechless how you guys would not be bound to the facts.

Believe or not, the evidence are there that people to have been misled

The kind of misleading through PVT media channels would have been possible in Europe.

I have no idea, and keep questioning myself as to why lanken PVT TV channels seem to have self-authority which is only being controlled by RATEs

There should be MEDIA guideliness be it in Europe or Asia. We perfectly know as onee living in Europe long, that Japanese would never allow their information be part of euro news. And thus, even that reactor disaster few years ago was covered by interntional press.
In the same time, Chernobyl distaster was not that covered since the idealogies were different to that time in EUrope and cold war had been in place.

Private TV channels spread whole lot of far abusive indian teledrama and our men copy them and write their teledrama stories based on indian films.

Latter programs should be banned in any dignfiied country, but lanken state does not seem taking actions timely. That bothers me and i question why

Not just Dr Dewasiri but entire interllectual community are made silent today if I may say so. Even that BP Dr Nalin De Silva and Fake Prof. Jayasumana are sealed off their orifices.

That beetle eating Wimalaweera Disanayak – state minister has broken the silence y day and shared that he is pissed off being unable to do anything right at the momement under Rascal Led Govt.

“I am speechless how you guys would not be bound to the facts.”

This is feature and characteristic of imbeciles. They d o not have the intellect to comprehend the facts and data. Because they are imbeciles, with low mean IQ’s, they can be easily manipulated and brainwashed.

The term imbecile was once used by psychiatrists to denote a category of people with moderate to severe intellectual disability, as well as a type of criminal. The word arises from the Latin word imbecillus, meaning weak, or weak-minded. It included people with an IQ of 26–50, between “idiot” (IQ of 0–25) and “moron” (IQ of 51–70). In the obsolete medical classification (ICD-9, 1977), these people were said to have “moderate mental retardation” or “moderate mental subnormality” with IQ of 35–49.

        Desperate Sinhalaya,

The Rajapaksa’s and the monks all lie. The monks undergo the Monk treatment as Samanera, child monks in the Temple.

After all, the monks appointed themselves as the 3rd Gem of the so-called Triple Gem. The imbeciles have no clue. The Rajapaksa Mafia is exploiting it, to give the Monk hegemony, while retaining their power. This is very similar to how the Islamic rulers dealt with the Ulama. Read up on Ibn Rushd, the 12th Century Islamic Jurist, Judge and Philosopher, Ibn Rushd, aka Averroes.

The Buddha took a hard line on truth.

“One who feels no shame at telling a deliberate lie,” the Buddha told a monk after dramatically pouring out the contents of a dish, “has as much of a contemplative in them as this empty bowl” (MN 61, The Instructions to Rahula at Mango Stone). (The monk he was lecturing, by the way, was said to be his son, Rahula.)

“In the same way, Rahula,” the Buddha continued, “when anyone feels no shame in telling a deliberate lie, there is no evil, I tell you, they will not do. Thus, Rahula, you should train yourself, ‘I will not tell a deliberate lie, even in jest.’”

The monks and the Rajapaksa Mafia have trained themselves to lie.Why are the imbeciles going along with it? Fear that they will not end in the elusive Nibbana? Or is it that they do not have the intellect, just like SC Pasqual?

The parents and mothers of child monks should come forward if CHILD PROTECTION AUTHORITY is teethless.

What a country/nation, by offering the CHicken to foxes, and people stay as spectators, not doing the due. Either people as a whole is sick for some reasons, or they are under PSYCHOSIS.

These samanera/child monks are caught by both sides

        which are :
The society are made to believe, that the monk that could come up from them would do lot more service to the BUDDHISM missionary

Their parents are made to believe – by an another stupid myth, if a child would be offered to MONKHOOD, generations would be able to collect MERIT for nirwana.

We can offer children to MOONKHOOD if the path is CLEAN only. The stupid society would believe in them even today, my gosh. I would have commited suicide if my parents offered me to a temple without my consent.

What is the greater difference between JAMAL KHASHOGI killers and that of rughrite Wasim thadjudeen ?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vV8JVf5_6w

Jamal Khashoggi killers are from Saudiarabin leaderhip and Wasim Thadudeen killers are from srilanken RAJAAKSHE FAMILY:
Which one is the most misterious killing according to you ?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucLj-VxLvCE

To me killing of rugby player Thadjudeen is the most misterious one because they killed him and put in a vehicle wreck to prove that it came into being through a vehicle accident. And not to forget, the murdered was planted not in the steering wheel side .
Andbody parts of the dead was stored in SAITM freezers not to allow that the killing was a calculated crime. And former president s wife had never been interogated on this, even if rumours were there, if did so, the abusive woman would have committed suicide.

-Why Shiranthi Rajakashe as a mother of 3 same age young men, worked as a number one killer woman ?

Just because all is superficial but these family is beyond all ethics and morals.

      • 5
        0

The torments of tantalus regarding that Thadjudeen murder.

Aho, what a victimized mother has to go through ?

What if one of the Rajapakshe sons were murdered that way ?

-Then entire buddhist clergy would have been asked to GO on day long protests until the justice is being served.
This country is made a Rajakshes NEECHA country after that so called WAR victory, which was though succeeded thanks to Late Mr Kadirgamar yeoman s services and three forces. But ballige putha Rajapakshes sent the message across among the rascals, that he is the WEDAKARARAY to claim the entire victory.

People are so gullible and easy targets, so self glorifications of RAJAKSHES will last at least two more weeks – with sky rocketed price hikes in DAILY needs after varioius steps being taken after their COME BACK.

Wait and see, hand to hand, nothing will work for the benefit of the nation.Govt change brought nothing to the nation

COST OF LIVING ACCORDING TO OPPOSITION LEADER – IS MULTIPLE TIMES HIGHER TODAY THAN PRIOR TO GR- ELECTION.

The very same people seem to be SILENCT by the press – NO flow of YOUTUBE video freedom as was the case under previous GG governance.

Current RR TAPE leaks to the press will have serious consequencses to them in the days to come. Let s wait and see, I dont think that SLPP will be able to SWEEP the elections

To me it is not at all clear why OUR PEOPLE stay bitter silent when talking about misterious killing tactics of Rajapakshe family ? Allegations are flowing but nothing seems to work – like dogs are barking but caravan moves forward….. why is that ? if srilanka is to be regarded as a nation with much higher literacy rates ?

Would the people stay deaf and blind for such a long time ? Why the vulnerable in this country though claiming them to be sinhala buddhists and stay calm and quiet when all is revealed about the brutal killing of Thadjudeen murder ?

How hearted are you guys as SINHALA BUDDHISTs ? Why you stay stand still even if prima facie evidence is revealed about the brutal Rajapakshe killing tactics.

Why on earth let that then IGP, who is said to have twisted the facts regarding the calculated murder; that long in prison ? Why media men dont bring any interviews regarding this brutal killing even if some have already been convicted in KHASHOGGI murder ?

The writer says. “The history and the future of Sri Lanka do not belong to any group alone,” President Ranasinghe Premadasa once said (Address at the Annual Prize Giving of St. Thomas’ College, Mt Lavinia – 1990). Noble words indeed!
And what happened to President Premadasa? Was he assassinated by a Sinhala Buddhist? Or, a bigot of another ethnic group?
The writer’s wish may come true only if he can convince his fellow Tamils to discard their hatred for the Sinhalese and the Buddhists.

That’s what we were led to believe, Adrian, but why were instructions given to clear the site immediately instead of allowing proper investigation first? I believe this happened when when investigators from Scotland Yard were in the country in connection with the assassination of Lalith A. It should have been an obvious step to seek their help in this instance.
There was even a story put about that Premadasa could not be identified after the bombing, but I saw at least one photo of him whte he was clearly recognisable.

Premadasa was killed by Sirisena Cooray using Babu, Premadasa’s Cook who was living inside Sucharitha. If Babu wanted to kill Premadasa, he could have easily placed a bomb right under Preme’s bed and need not have committed suicide. Why don’tyou use your brain if you have one.

It may be good to take a pause and stop flogging the same lines over and over again and think more rationally. Perhaps the minorities also have a constructive role to play if they want to be inclusive in a government. For a start stop supporting racist parties and join the main parties SLPP and the UNP. In the old days people of the caliber of Laxman Kadiragama had the chance of becoming a President -but he was cut down. Muslims have a number of racist parties and very few join in the main national political parties. They have been trying to gain control by coalitions when the two main parties have no clear majority. This strategy does not work any more. Join the mainstream. When an offer is made for development in their regions accept it rather than ask for the impossible. Much can be gained by the minorities living in this country if the confronternist policies are abandoned. Of course those living overseas can see no ‘benefit’ in this -they will then have nothing to rave about.

    • 11
      2

The main parties also are racists. Enacting Sinhala only, standardization of exam results to favour an ethnic community that controls the power and sponsor a particular community settle in the areas inhabited by minority communities and maintaining a disproportionately larger percentage of government jobs and police and military to the majority community are discriminatory and hence raciste.
For example even in predominantly Tamil speaking areas you do not find a Tamil translator to write down police complaints in the language it is made. Extremism breeds the same. So we find racist parties among the minorities, too,

The whole point of the cabinet is to discuss how our country’s economy and law will go forward.
    ..
Having only Sinhalese Budhists representing the cabinet, will definitely divide our country.
    ..
This is exactly what USA wants and Gota is giving it on a platter. India will be interested in a devided nation too.
    ..
Chinese won’t mind because the southern end is their economic hub.
    ..
Only a fair representation of the public in the cabinet will take care of the sovereignty of our nation.

People who supports this madness should be ready to fight against terrorism, rather than depending on the lives of our army.

The colored glasses worn by TG and their ilk cannot see that this presidential election results were a huge backlash against the anti majority agenda of yahapalanaya. Consequently her prescriptions are aimed at further polarization. Their wining formula was faulty. They deliberately strategised to win only about 35% of majority both in 2015 and 2019. They didn’t think alienating the majority of majority would cause any problems because they were sure of the minority bloc vote that they thought was enough to keep them in power eternally. Minority political leadership also thought that keeping the majority down would be good for them. They are reaping what they sawed. Gotabhaya cannot clap with one hand. therefore the onus is on the minorities to demonstrate that they are willing to be genuine partners perhaps at the general elections.

    Colombo Man,
This Govt. is extrem Sinhala-Buddhist, any other explanations are just wish wash, the facts, any person or establishment who goes beyond will be stamped as Tigers from the BUDDHIST MONKES, is it not so ?
The main argument for the win was that “Sri Lanka is a Sihala -Buddhist land” like Nazis” Germany for Germans” and protect it, slogan from the Buddhist Monks. and Sinhala/Buddhist extremists in Pivithuru Helaurumaya. you justify it and then talk about 2/3 majority this even does not tally together.
SLPP won on the wave of racism including religious. What they do at the moment is to limit the damage in front of the world.

Does it belong to Aboriginals , let alone Muslims or Tamils who are there now in abundance..

So ,What is wrong with Srilanka belonging to 75 % Sinhala inhabitants?.

How can Premadasa say it didn’t belong any one in the past or in the future?.

    Who is this Premadasa?.

The Premadasa I know is an empty head with no capacity at all there, according to that GUN UNP ex Yahapalana Minister who has recorded all his Yahapalana Governance on his Gonja Tapes for posterity..

That is the birth of the Ceylon National Congress on 11th December 1919, in a glow of defiance and optimism. Within two years its pioneer President Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam was thrown out by a lobby, whom we now call the ‘fathers of the nation’, and with Arunachalam his model of a welfare state enshrining workers’ rights and democratic accountability.
The coup against Arunachalam was carried out by this group of ‘patriots’ that collaborated with the British to protect their economic interests. A.E. Goonesinha who saw the consequences for the workers protested vehemently until his opportunistic surrender. The leaders resorted to communalism to hide their bankruptcy. It has been with us ever since and the poison has multiplied with the years. What is remarkable is that our wise and educated have not had the foresight to combat this menace with energy and put us on track to real freedom. Indeed the histories we have of what happened to the Ceylon National Congress stop short of taking our ‘fathers’ to task. The reality is, as you say in your article, there is no nation and we have thrown away our prospective freedom. We have been living in illusions and horrible dreams, which sometimes, alas, came true.

      Hoole,
Did you try to compare Arundathee’s pessimism with Rajan Philips’s somewhat hopeful view appeared just yesterday on the possible future of GoRa/MaRa regime? I think that the reality lies somewhere in the middle. It is true that nearly all the S/B racists find shelter under MaRa’s political umbrella but, I doubt whether GoRa is totally bounded by racial Supremacy. However, the biggest challenge GoRa has to overcome is not the racism; rather, it is the corruption & nepotism which use racism as the cover. As a matter of fact, there is no SLPP without its corrupt political base! Therefore, GoRa’s ambitions of attaining rapid economic progress via a disciplined Gvt must clash head on the with the corrupt base which brought GoRa to power. In this clash, I believe that GoRa’s success will be determined not by his personal wishes as Rajan Philips believe but by the deal making ability of MaRa who has close ties with the corrupt base – a fact Arundathee missed. This is exactly what MaRa’s popularity means.

Ranil understood this fact of the need to satisfy the base but he gave the priority to economic recovery hoping he could attend the loyalists once the national goal is reached. In fairness, I believe that Ranil was able to lay strong foundation for recovery but political turmoils prevented him from the second. It appears that with his tax cuts, GoRa is making a mistake by abandoning Ranil’s economic plan and thereby pushing the country towards much bigger financial crisis again. If that happen, I suspect that GoRa is destined to face a much bigger political crises than did Ranil. In such a situation, there is a possibility that the current racial mistrust that helped GoRa to win could come to play a dangerous role which might even go beyond the control of current leaders of all sides. In other words, bad economics might make it look like Arundathies is correct.

Ranil is the worst politician of this land .
All he did was open the doors fully for his loyalists to mint illegal money at the expense of the country and people .
If People vote for Ranil again, then there must be something mentally wrong with such .
He played with the constitution, with racism & lead the country into a dumping yard of Garbage and importing of crap with zero market analysis done.

Rajan Hoole: It is stupid to talk about a Nation when Tamils (It looks mostly christians) talk about reconciliation and promote Tribalism every way possible. Because, it fulfills the objectives of their funding agency. So, forget Tribalism and islamic religious fanaticism. Go alone. Ask them to come with us if they desire.
Past is past. At that time, both Tamils and muslims, at least some (now too) were with the majority.

I’m not surprised about TG’s usual barrage of criticisms about everyone and everything Sri Lankan. She sees nothing positive in the horizon under GR’s presidency. For her, indications and implications are clear and President GR is a Sinhala Buddhist supremacist!
Political Issues and other national issues that affect a multi ethnic, multi religious and multi cultural nation under democracy are discussed, deliberated, argued, debated, and negotiated on a ‘give and take’ basis. However, in ethnic journalism, underdog is always innocent and correct! In other words, the majority is always wrong whereas minorities are always correct!
In SL, only the majority Sinhalese are divided between two major political parties and all minorities remain politically undivided and vote their respective ethnic parties that carry their own ethnic name, symbol, and slogan. Tamils cannot even think of a party without the word Tamil or Eelam. Muslims are even worse to tell the truth! Some Sinhalese leaders also tried this dangerous game but the majority Sinhalese kicked them out of politics (e.g. Sinhala Mahajana Paksaya). Yet, TG says the Sinhalese are racist and therefore they are not willing to accommodate other minorities in the country!
TG! just look at the voting pattern of ethnic minorities at the last PE. Tamils in the North followed the Sheep theory and voted Sajith as if late Pirabaharan had threatened them to do so! Muslims did the same in the East as if Saharan had threatened them!
For a country to follow ‘pluralism’ all ethnic groups should accept and adhere to that political philosophy. You cannot just impose a theory only on the majority and give the unconditional liberty to minorities and their foreign agents to hammer the majority. This is exactly what was happening in the name of Yahapalanaya between 2015-2019.
Who voted the Yahapalanaya to power in 2015?

Thank you Richmond Peiris for articulating the unjust position some in the minority community and the writer of this piece are relentlessly pursuing to impose their will on the majority by demonising the Sinhalese and the Buddhist community. This idiotic strategy is only effective in further polarisation of communities. I beg to differ with Rajan Hooles account of Ponnambalam Arunachalam’s good intentions as he was one of earliest communal minded Tamils who wanted to “hammer the majority” in to a politically submissive entity and pave the way for a privileged Tamil community. That mindset still prevails among the Tamil political class much to the detriment of the Tamil populace and the nation as a whole. Thus they exhibit the political and moral bankruptcy they amply possess for they have not made any progress with their unholy intent.

Generally people have enough problems of their own hence they do not seem to have time or energy to ” demonise the Sinhalese and the Buddhist community” as the Sinhala and Buddhist community have been forced to convert to the Public Racist Anagarika Homeless Dharmapala’s new political invention, a lethal cocktail of new identity, the jealous prone Sinhala/Buddhists and by the way a new perverted religious practices of Sinhala/Buddhism.

The saffron brigade and fascist sympathisers are bent on worsening the life of the ordinary people with more toxin such as,

“For a country to follow ‘pluralism’ all ethnic groups should accept and adhere to that political philosophy. “

You have got it backwards! For pluralism to work, you need governments to govern on behalf of all ethnic groups but that hasn’t happened since the 1950s has it. If it has, Sri Lanka will not have such deep entrenched ethnic divisions, would they.
Election after election, minorities, in particular Tamils, have voted with hope for something different from the past but government after government they have been let down big time. Tamils voted for RW and MS in 2015 with great hope for change and were let down, again. Majoritarianism and Sinhala hegemony will ensure Tamils will always vote for the lesser of the racists in PE. Pluralism is the responsibility of people and governments but if the Sinhala people are happy with majoritarianism and Sinhala hegemony that obviously only benefits them, you will never have pluralism.

Whatever happens in the South, North East living Tamil speaking people should unite to form a new political agenda to safeguard the rights of the Tamil speaking people in this island. Tamil and Muslim people are the key players in the economic front and bringing the national wealth to this country. If the Sinhala nations decide to ignore the rights of the people have the right to revolt against oppressive politics. No one can win against people revolution. Tamil speaking people will have more international support for their rightful rights. It is up to the majority community (Sinhala in the South) to decide whether they want a pluralistic country or Sinhala only and Tamil only country.

    • 3
      4

Ajith: Tamil will give up Tamil and unite with ant other when they have the opportunity. See how Norwegian Tamils, how fluent they are in Norwegian Language. Tamils were in Sri Lanka since times not known or immemorial. Yet, they can not speak Sinhala. But, in Norwar, they speak fluent Norwegian Language. Their job is fisherman. In Sri Lanka, they want to be the President, PM, and all kinds of high positions.

      • 2
        0

        JD,
Do you know the proportion of Tamil speaking people fluent in Sinhala language than the Sinhala speaking people fluent in Tamil is much more in this island. Do you many of the politicians of South had their education in Tamil areas without knowing Tamil. Whether you are a fisherman or laundryman or barber or Buddhist Monk it is immaterial to become a president or PM. What is wrong with that. What is your caste? You may not know the Ceylon National Congress was headed and organised by a Tamil which lead to the independence of this country, not by Sinhala. You are disgrace to Sinhala civilised community.

    • 2
      2

      Ajith
I like your consistent use of ‘Tamil speaking people’
Tamil political masters have been using various permutations and combinations of Tamils, Tamil Nation, Tamil speaking people, Ealam Tamils, Eazam Tamils etc.,etc. to bamboozle everybody.
Whenever I use the the word ‘Tamils’ I never fail to include the proper definition as ” All Tamil speaking people irrespective of their religion, caste or the date of arrival”. For administrative functional and legal recognition purposes the only two groups that can be unambiguously identified are ‘Sinhala speaking people’ and Tamil speaking people.’ Retrograde ethno religious divisions must be done away with in order to progress. Geographical distribution of Tamil speaking people across the island makes discussing ‘political solutions’ is a waste of time.

Give Gota a chance. The lack of Muslims may be to temporarily appease sections of the Sinhala population. Gota is treading a fine line between keeping extremists happy and carrying out his plans. He will not let anyone Sinhala, Muslim or Tamil upset his plans for development. I think he wants to leave a legacy he can be proud of.

Gota himself is not only an Sinhala/Buddhist extremist but a Fascist National Hangman.
SWRD Pandara Nayagam too believed he could manage extremist Sinhala/Buddhists in the long time. He ended up being assassinated all because he couldn’t satisfy the demands of racist lot who supported him. It was the first political assassination in post independent Ceylon.

While an under graduate and graduate student in California I have worked many jobs from 1956 to 1965 to earn to continue my studies and sports. Those jobs were cleaning classrooms and cleaning and repairing toilets, claeaning dishes, working in crop nurseries, operating machine that washes milk bottles, and other such minimum wage ($1. An hour) jobs.

I am not a supporter of GR. What he had gained from the daily wage jobs he did has given him an experience to understand the life of the majority of the people who are struggling to make a living. For the next 5 years it is important to ensure GR does not violate the rights of the people or let his supporters take the law into their hands.

If anyone in this country perceives that he/ she is being treated as a second class citizen, then that person is unlikely to be imbued with a sense of patriotism. Therefore, it would be unrealistic to expect patriotism from the minorities if they feel they are being discriminated against by the state.

    • 5
      11

      Stanley,
What the hell you are talking ‘Second Class Citizens’?

Sri Lanka is a country where majority Native Sinhalayo have worked according to the whims and fancies of minorities, Demalu and Muslims. For example:
      • When Sinhala which has been the official language until British changed it to English was made the official language after colonial rule ended, Demalu demanded Demala language also should be recognized as an official language. Majority agreed.
      • When the Government introduced the Sinhala letter ‘Sree’ to car number plates, Demalu opposed. So ‘Sree’ was removed and letters of ‘Para Sudda’ were introduced. Demalu had no problem with the letters of ‘Para Sudda’. What an unpatriotic bunch.
      • When Demalu said they want to sing the National Anthem in Demala, Sinhalayo agreed.
      • When Demalu said they want to keep ‘Thesawalamei’ which is a Malabari customary law brought to this country by slaves, Sinhalayo agreed.
      • When Muslims said they want Shariah Law, Sinhalayo agreed.
      • When Muslims said they want ‘Madrasas’, Sinhalayo agreed.
      • When the President said 19th Amendment should be scrapped, TNA and Muslim Congress politicians say they want it and Sinhalayo will allow them to keep it.
      • When TNA said they want a Federal Constitution, despite objections from majority Native Sinhalayo, dumbos in this Government agreed to that demand.
      • When Vigneshwaran said ‘NO SINHALESE IN THE NORTH’, the Government agreed to that and did not help the Sinhalayo who were expelled by LTTE from Yapanaya.
      • When TNA told to reduce Army in the North, the Government did that.
      • When TNA said not to teach history in schools, the Government agreed.
      • When TNA told to remove the name of King Gamini Abhaya aka Dutu Gemunu from history books, the Government did.
      • To please minorities, the National Flag of Sinhale was changed.

The Rajapakse dynasty is back to square one. They swindled the country when they were in power. Now here is an opportunity provided again by Singhala Buddhists for them to swindle the balance that was leftover. Gota is appointing his LA friends to top positions He talks one thing and does another thing. There is no development with the ethnic problems unsolved. They will have a very difficult time in the UN HR meeting He talks about brain drain from Sri Lanka how about he migrating to the US and living there. Does the rule apply only for the common man and not for him? Now he is aiming at getting absolute power and then become a dictator undue the name of development. Singhal Buddhists should use their brain without thinking on communal line Gota can not ignore the minorities who contributed to the development of the country from 194m He was not born when Sri Lank got independence

“So taking Sri Lanka back from the minorities, and giving it to its rightful owners, is the first step in the journey to Paradise. Gotabaya Rajapaksa is fulfilling this part of the paradisiacal promise openly and speedily.”
Sinhale (aka Sri Lanka) is the Land of Sinhalayo and Vedda Eththo. They are the rightful owners because they shed their blood and sacrificed their lives to save this country from ‘Para’ invaders; Dravidians from Hindusthan, Portuguese, Dutch, British and Dravidians brought to Sinhale by colonial parasites.
I do not think a single Demala or Muslim sacrificed his/her life to liberate this country from ‘Para’ European colonial parasites. Instead of fighting against colonial rulers, some Demalu and Muslims licked the a** of those guys, got into high positions and oppressed Native Sinhalayo.

Native Sinhalayo gave citizenship to these ‘Para’ Demalu and Muslims to live in this country when they faced a desperate situation. In return what did they do? ‘Para’ Demalu tried to carve out North and East to themselves using a bogus claim ‘Traditional Homeland’ and massacred tens and thousands of Sinhalayo. ‘Para’ Muslims on the other hand are trying to carve out a part in the East as Muslim Administrative Unit or something like that and terrorized Sinhalayo.
Tisaranee, it is not an attempt to take back Sri Lanka from the minorities. It is an attempt to save this country from ‘Para’ people who try to break it into pieces. Sinhalayo cannot allow ‘Para’ people to play hell in their ‘Motherland’. If Rajapakses fail to stop this ungrateful minorities, Sinhalayo will plead the Sri Lankan Army to take over.

“Where were you when the ‘Jadapalana’ Government gave 48 institutions to one Muslim Minister denying the opportunity to Sinhala MPs?”

Is this news according to old Champika or the Wimal Windbag Sangili Karuppan Weerawansa?

The author was making similar noises in 2012, when the economy was growing at 6.4% (higher than the USA), under Mahinda. To quote her exactly: “The Rajapaksas will depart the political-scene some day, willingly or unwillingly. Their legacy will include an economic wasteland, an oversized military with a Superman-complex and Sinhala-Buddhist extremists addicted to lording it over minorities…” (https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-medamulana-doctrine-and-a-brave-new-sri-lanka/). She is angry because of lack of minority representation in the government; that is because the minorities boycotted the election (who told them to?). As I have pointed out before, economic development and democracy are independent of each other. The only human right which governments should always respect is ownership of private property, otherwise people have no incentive to work and contribute to the economy. The best example is China. There are no Muslims in the government, there are no elections at all. Even the Internet is censored. Yet China is the world’s largest manufacturer with double-digit economic growth: https://hbr.org/resources/images/article_assets/2013/11/nominalgdp.gif.

Ministers are there to develop the country and not to promote their personal or party agendas.. As long as minority party ministers represent their needs, they should not be in the parliament. FOR Ethnic and religious minorities, it is simply going against the reconciliation and what they are asking for. For other minority parties it is just piggy backing the major parties in order to ful fill their needs. for example, if JVP thinks, they can piggy pack a major party and fulfill communist or socialist needs. that unfair to the majority party.

Spot on, Tisaranee. The UNP and JVP are well on their way to losing the 47% who voted for them in the Presidential election thanks to their juvenile antics. An election in two months and they don’t have any candidates lined up or a sound critique of what is wrong with the present regime. The UNP is not only not going to regain any Sinhala Buddhist votes already committed to the SLPP but will lose Sinhala Buddhist votes they could have counted on like mine if they continue to immerse themselves in never-ending leadership crisis meetings or show any more photos of Sajith pandering to Buddhist monks. And while they are at it, they should be getting rid of useless baggage like Tissa Attanayake in addition to the other corrupt lot of ‘senior’ leaders, starting with Ranil.

It is really MCC funded NGO talk. It is full 100%hatred and Revenge against Sinhala Buddhist Supremacy aned promoting Rajapakses towards towards Sinhala Spremacy. Remember Indian Tamil minister was promoting reconciliation, promoting Tamil over Sinhala. But he in his web page was a Tamil – Tribalist and was persons non grata among Jaffanisthan Tamils.
On the other hand, You as usual have taken shots Rajapakses but actually is saying is not suitable come the out going UNP Leader Ranil.
Sajith said he got money from MODI for 60,000 houses. What happened to that money. The way Sajith showed his leadership during the Presidential elections, I think voters understood who Sajith is. Some one should report to Ripley’s Believe it or not OR to British World Record maintaining place, that a Sri Lankan politician was the first to offer sanitary stuff to women. For sue, Mangalas Proposal to help some American Compane, Sajith presented it.
How about asking school kids to drink Beer instead of sweet beverages. Definitely, he should not be a father ever.
TG, why this small island has to appoint Ministers based on the community basis. Is it for development or for just to satisfy communities. How many muslim communities. Who should be favoured. Wahabis. They all are Wahabis. Why they were in the both sides of the PSC.
Abdum Kakam was Muslim but worked very much like a Hindu. Obana was black and muslim but worked very much like white-Evangelist Christian.

Thisaranee: If you are genuine and honest to yourself, you should change your name. I think Ranil chose Sajith to suit Ranil’s Intelligence level.
Anyway, did you notice how many Ministers became state ministers because of the new selection. Is that good or something to criticize because many lost their plum pudding jobs and flamboyant life styles. Now, you are worried about why Muslims did not get ministers posts and why Tamils got this low number of minister posts. Are you for the country or for some funding agencies needs ?
Are you nearing to lose your contract ? I think Kumar David made a blunder.

Gota is a LIAR! He said he will only appoint professionals to boards. Now his family members are being appointed. What a shame!

The world has moved on, the voter has no time for opinions of these elderly women writing in 1970s’ style.

If you listen to Tissaranee we must vote for Ranil ! Is that an option !

Ranils’ true role has been to deny the voter a real alternative.

This over rated ( listen to Hirunika/ Ranjan saying he even knew about wimala wijewardena ! Ha, ha good knowledge) incapable, devious, defective apology for a man has ruined everything , same as Ranjan, but in a different way.

We have a beautiful electoral map now thanks to Sinhala Buddhist mentality sown by Rajapakses. Sooner than later we will reap the benefits of what we have sown in the form of three states.
