These Men Do Not Deserve Public Office

By Helasingha Bandara

If the opposition can get Rosy Senanayake, Chandrika Kumaratunga, Hirunika Premachandra and perhaps Susanthika Jayasinghe on one stage to talk about their personal grievances against some of the powerful politicians of this government, they can launch a genuine but serious attack on some of the perverts who are protected by Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Perverts

S.B. Dissanayake

At present the whole country seems to protest against S.B. Dissanayake for his degrading comments against a woman in our society. Ours is a society in which women are respected for being our mothers and sisters. They perform an immeasurable service to the human race for its continuance. It is not important that he has made this despicable remark, be it against a former president of Sri Lanka or not. He should not have expressed his anti women sentiments against any woman at all. Further to his wish to ripping off Chandrika’s clothes, trampling her and making her run along the streets he was alleged to have attempted to sexually harass the former Sri Lankan sprinter Susanthika Jayasinghe.  Such people do not deserve public office. Only MR regime protects such people and indeed uses them to garner votes on the assumption that the people of our country are foolish.

In addition this man was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment by five Judge Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva on December 7, 2004 for defaming the Supreme Court during a speech he made at a function in Habaraduwa in the year 2003. In February 2006, he was fully released by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Mervyn Silva

If we are to look into Meryin Silva’s activities properly, this piece should have to be dedicated to that purpose alone. Therefore, we concentrate on his sexist comments and harassment of women. His controversial remarks about the contestants and judges of a reality show became a wide topic of discussion and drew attention of the general public. He made many rude remarks about the opposition MP Rosy Senanayake and MP Upeksha Swarnamali about their beauty and physiques. Rosy can tell the people what he said about herself and Upeksha.

Hirunika ChandrikaOn 4 August 2008 Silva and his bodyguards assaulted Sirasa TV journalist Saliya Ranawaka and cameraman Waruna Sampath and seized their equipment at the opening of a flyover at Thorana Junction in Kelaniya. Silva was tried for the assault but was acquitted after the police failed to file any charges against him

On 3 August 2010 Silva subjected government official Mohammed Ishan Murshuk to public humiliation by tying him to a mango tree. Silva invited the media to witness the official’s humiliation. This resulted in public outrage and demonstrations by government officials. On 10 August 2010 it was announced that Silva had been dismissed from his ministerial post and suspended from the SLFP. However, a subsequent SLFP disciplinary cleared him of all charges and on 8 September 2010 he was reappointed to his ministerial post.

On 11 April 2011, Silva’s Parliament Affairs Secretary Jayasena Mudiyanselage Buddhi, with two Policemen in uniform and an underworld gangster who is a henchman of Silva, had arrived in Silva’s official vehicle and attempted to extort five million rupees from a scrap metal businessman in Grandpass. However that businessman who happened to be a friend of the Defence Secretary got them arrested while they were threatening & demanding a ransom from him. When things became too hot and beyond Silva’s control, he immediately disassociated himself from Buddhi stating that his Secretary had left the employment a couple of weeks before. However, Silva failed to explain; how Buddhi managed to take Silva’s official vehicle and how the two policemen managed to be released from the police station in Silva’s electorate.

It is also alleged that his henchmen assassinated the former chairman of Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha.

Mervyn is still a Minister under MR’s protection

Kumara Welgama

Sri Lanka’s transport Minister Kumara Welgama was quoted as saying to Rosy Senanayake, “You are such a charming woman. I cannot explain my feelings here. But if you meet me outside Parliament, I will describe them … My thoughts are running riot … I don’t want to reveal them in public.”

Rosy Senanayake’s response was “I consider that as a sexist remark.”

Duminda Silva,

Duminda Silva is another sex pervert who was alleged have put a pistol into Anarkali’s mouth when his relationship with her became sour.

As a result of a shooting incident, former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others were killed. On November 15, 2011, a magistrate ordered Silva’s arrest for the killing of Premachandra.

Criminals

Nishantha Mutuhettigama

Mutuhettigama is known to be a tough guy with a protruding belly on an ugly body. People do not dare meddle in his affaires. Once he said that he wdoesnot give two hoots even about Mahinda Rajapaksa. MR likes such people who can be used to harass and intimidate opposition politicians. Muthu has no respect for the law of the country. He simply is a criminal who could go into a police station and kidnap the three of his colleagues who allegedly set fire to the stage of the opposition rally.

Eraj Fernando

The Mayor brandished a pistol to threaten the UNP representatives who went to check Mattala. He said it was a toy pistol. This time the pistol butted street dramatists with real pistols. If MR wins a third term there won’t be any punishment to the gangster.

Roger Seneviratne

He stole the friend’s wife and broke the friend’s leg when the friend questioned about his wife. An Avissawella Magistrate sentenced the UPFA Western Provincial Councilor Roger Seneviratne to two years rigorous imprisonment suspended for five years after he was found guilty for assaulting and fracturing the leg of the husband of his lover with an iron rod.

Johnston Fernando

Johnston has challenged people to prove that he has stolen money from the people, being fully aware that no one would like to engage in a futile exercise while he is in power and under the protection of Mahinda. Once he loses the grip of power hundreds may come out to give evidence against him for his abuse of power to expand his business empire, about his involvement in importing large stocks of ethanol, his hand in building a hotel on the reservation of the Nikaweratiya tank and indeed for lowering the water level of the tank for the hotel work to continue that destroyed the seasons paddy harvest under Magalla tank.

Johnston has no qualification educationally or otherwise to hold a Ministerial position other than his opportunism. He has given false evidence against Sarath Fonseka to avoid the accusation that he had links with the LTTE and also to receive the Ministerial portfolio. His uncultured nature was well manifest at the TV debate with Ranjan Ramanayaka that was conducted by Hiru TV. Ranjan conducted himself very well as a decent human being while being subjected to verbal abuse and physical threat by Johnston. Johnston kept on screaming in an utterly unbecoming language for a Minister despite the efforts of the presenter to calm him down. If any person with common sense watches this clip they would wonder from which gutter Johnston Fernando comes from. Such are the Ministers who are appointed and protected by MR to rule and develop the country and the nation.

The opposition has a serious responsibility to expose them. Mahinda Rajapaksa should pay the price for appointing and nurturing them.

While it true that MR is proecting ALL that are vultures and undesirable amongst his political fold, it is also true that he has violated the Constitution of SL by seeking a third tem in Office. Have there been any disciplinary action taken against any one of his stooges during his 9 year rule?

The mere fact that he has violated the Constitution of SL, which in his oath of Office has declared to uphold and protect, requires the right verdict fom the voting public, lest this violation is legitimized at the forthcoming election.

The SL President is the current Commonwealth Chair-in-Office, consequent to having hosted the last CHOGM in Colombo in 2013. (He hosted this event, spending millions of tax payers’ money, just for self aggrandizement and international recognition as he did in attempting to host the Commonwealth Games. Thankfully that bid was lost although millions of tax payers’ money was squandered in presenting the bid). Therefore he has the sacred duty of upholding the ‘Values’ of the Commonwealth and set an example to the rest. We all know he pays only lip service to upholding those values. I suggest, ALL peace loving people of SL, who wish to see true Democracy return to our beloved motherland, bring these corrupt practices to the attention of the Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma. Please take the initiative and send him an email explaining what you see is happening in SL and asking him, respectfully, what action he plans to take as the Commonwealth Secretary General to prevent Commonwealth values being eroded in SL. Let this be a MASS appeal to him so he will be compelled to respond/act. You may also want to copy that email to the PM of UK, PM of Canada, PM of Australia, FM of UK, FM of Canada & FM of Australia, the significant Democracies within the Commonwealth. For your convenience, I give below the relevant email addresses:

    Kamalesh Sharma – info@commonwealth.int
    PM of UK – info@davidcameron.com or camerond@parliament.uk
    PM of Canada – harpers@parl.gc.ca

Please inform ALL your friends, relatives, contacts, colleagues and make this a MASS appeal.

Let us ALL with our concerted and combined efforts ensure a semblance of Democracy, Fairness and Justice returns to Sri Lanka.

Even if election of a PM was due to assasination of her husband -SWRDB, the very first PM to the world is a product from srilanka. Those were the days that srilankens were proud of being srilankens. Thirty years ago, I put the feet on EU soil for my further studies. THere Europeans already knew the country as Bandaranayke s land. WIth proud and respect they treated me just because I came from Bandaranayake s ceylon. But today, not many are aware of the country that is ruled by a bunch of thieves that have no respect to anyone. They are known to have killed tamil civilians in avalanche at the end of the war in 2009 – though it is common to many wars that unestimable numbers of the civl folks could face all the human losses, but when thinking and looking at th emanner the man in power today has been peroforming his office, everyone would eaisly feel that they could take more action not getting killed those innocient tamil civl folks in the war end. I have no doubt, these barbaric regime has no greater concern about humanity. We the sinhalese should be ashamed to have elected such a brutal leader to lead us highly literate small nation in Southasia.
All in all the harm being made towards women today is unimaginable. Rajapakshe have no system no vision or no education. This they have proved by all means to this day except in the money laundering areas. They have abused over 800 billions of people funds that lankens in need could better use for giving a life to the poor of poor. Today how many mllions stay lagged being unable to face sky rocketed daily essentials.
Having spent few weeks in last November (few weeks ago ) I felt mgosh, how could the average people face it … if we the expatriates cant afford the life back in home country. I did not know the worth of a 1000 rupee note … and how it is being spent today. not even 5 items could be bought to that sum. It was a greater suprise to me, since I never thought that th elife is that expensive in the island today. Why I am telling you… in Europe (Germany) the vat is just 19% while in srilanken it is 30-40%. How can then people afford the life ? They dont seem to share any difficulties since they feel the war is no longer there but life has become a struggle of survival to many.

        Seelawathige Putha

“Those were the days that srilankens were proud of being srilankens.”

Why were the Sri Lankans proud of being Sri Lankans?

Before 1972 this island was known as Ceylon and it was famous for its tea for which you have to be grateful to Sudda.

Mrs Banda was a racist and was the first war criminal.

Didn’t the SLFP party have any other female member who was also intelligent, wise …. ?

        Under her leadership,

the country became an untouchable state,
        economy shrunk,
terrorism was experimented by JVP, many innocent people paid a high price,
democracy was perverted with parliamentary majority,
an undemocratic constitution was enacted without a referendum being held,
        corruption was rife,
racism was overtly and covertly practiced,
discrimination against the minorities were institutionalized,
a cultural event was disrupted in Jaffna and more than 12 people were killed,
extended 5 year parliamentary term to 7 years without the consent of the people,

        ……………….

What the hell are you talking about?

She was known only for being the first female prime minister but not for her intelligence nor for her wisdom.

For you guys, all sihalese leaders are racials. Then we have to consider them and their services done each term in a relative manner.
Who is more racial than MrsB ? If MrsB and her Daughter was that racial, why CBKs govt wanted to go for federal state (architect being today FM -GLP)?

I believe most racial, unethical, unmoral leader that srilanka ever produced is Mahinda Rajapakshe. This man and his politics are a greater shame to us all srilankens (not only sinhalese).

By telling only the palatable, he has been looting the funds allocated for poor to give alms giving ceremonities intending more votes for his reeletion .

“For you guys, all sihalese leaders are racials.”

            All Sinhala/Buddhists leaders are racists.

“why CBKs govt wanted to go for federal state”

Knowing full well her racist party would somehow destroy the proposals and thats what they did.

            “(architect being today FM -GLP)?”

Actually architects were Kathigamar, Neelan and GL. Which GL are we talking about? Professor of Law GL or the other one?

“I believe most racial, unethical, unmoral leader that srilanka ever produced is Mahinda Rajapakshe.”

Didn’t Mrs B facilitate for him to study Law? Then what do you expect?

“This man and his politics are a greater shame to us all srilankens (not only sinhalese).”

Not only Mahinda but all your past and present leaders are disgrace to this island.

“he has been looting the funds allocated for poor to give alms giving ceremonities intending more votes for his reeletion .”

All politicians are corrupt, only difference is the scale and nature of their loot.

You the Veddas may be not like her – …. this is common with Ausies aborigines but most of the lanken tamil folks respected her. This i know from tamils directly. I have met numbers of tamils during my long stay in Europe, that respected MrsB and her politics only because her politics gave priority for local products.

I am also aware of the fact that entire world attacked her not having better academic qualifications. But today, we have a butcher like man to lead the nation – with majority of the nation backing him only for terror elemination within the country. They dont mind even if they would have been raped by Rajapakshes and their goons only reason that is his term eleminated terror within the country.

“most of the lanken tamil folks respected her.”

            Did they tell you why?

“I have met numbers of tamils during my long stay in Europe,”

When was this? During Mrs B’s time there were only a handful of Tamils living in UK. Were they telling you the truth?

“that respected MrsB and her politics only because her politics gave priority for local products.”

My Elders believe the most hated figure for Tamils was Mrs B.
            She

            introduced standardization,

killed 12 innocent Tamils who were enthusiastic participant of an International cultural event,

removed all safeguards protecting minority rights in her new constitution,

sent in the bureaucrats to enforce Sinhala only language policy in the North East,

            placed Sangha in the constitution,

banned rice being transported to the peninsula,

            restricted employment opportunities for Tamils,

negotiated and signed agreement for the en masse deportation of the most hard working people to India though many were third or forth generation descendants.

            …..
            …..
            …..
            ….

“because her politics gave priority for local products.”

Only a handful of farmers benefited at the cost of many poor.

She and her economic hooligan ministers introduced most deflationary policies during the time destroying all private initiatives and industries. The economic rent seekers benefited the most. We can discuss how she and her economic hooligans destroyed the economy including estates.

“””But today, we have a butcher like man to lead the nation – with majority of the nation backing him only for terror elemination within the country. They dont mind even if they would have been raped by Rajapakshes and their goons only reason that is his term eleminated terror within the country.”””

Why are you telling me this?

                    Please have a guess.

“We just need to go for lesser evil in next election basta.”

Tamils thought VP was a lesser evil. A section of the Sinhala Youth thought Rohana was lesser evil. Many Sinhala/Buddhists including Sangha crowned MR the chackravarti of three kingdoms who turned out to be greater evil.

Couldn’t you find an honest, wise, intelligent and law abiding person out of the 20 million or so stupid people to govern this island.

      Wanted Minister leaves for Singapore
      Attack on MS stage:
      December 26, 2014, 12:00 pm

      article_image
      By Madura Ranwala

The police never expected Deputy Minister of Minor Export Crop Promotion Nishantha Mutuhettigama to leave the country for Singapore early morning on Boxing Day, as he was a member of the supreme law making body in the country, the Police spokesman said yesterday.

SSP Ajith Rohana told The Island that MP Mutuhettigama had left the country through the VIP at BIA terminal around 1.30 a.m. and there wasn’t any police security, but the MP would be arrested when he returned to the country in two days’ time as the Immigration Department officers had been requested to intimate to the police on his arrival in the country.

When queried why the police failed to arrest him, while he was singing on a stage before the arrest warrant was issued by the Baddegama Magistrate on Wednesday over the alleged abduction of three suspects from the police custody, SSP said that a separate police investigation by a special team led under the supervision of the Galle Deputy Inspector General of Police was being held over it.

Queried as to what action the police would take against the police officer, who saluted parliamentarian Mutuhettigama when he was getting into the vehicle near Beddagama Magistrate Court on the day the arrest warrant was issued, SSP Rohana said the incident had taken place before the court order, but it was unethical to salute a suspect in a case, though an MP is entitled receive a salute.

The three suspects taken away by the Parliamentarian to the court house were remanded till December 29, over the alleged arson attack on a stage put up for Common Opposition Presidential Candidate (COPC) Maithripala Sirisena at Wanduramba, its Public Address system and the vehicle that transported the sound equipment to the location.

Three Ministerial Security Division personal arrested for abduction of three suspects allegedly involved in the arson attack while in the police custody were bailed out by the Baddegama Magistrate on Wednesday.

Police, however, had failed to arrest MP’s driver so far despite Baddegama Magistrate serving arrest warrants on him as well.

These perverts, thugs, and jokers SB Dissanayake, Bandula Gunewardene, Mutuhettigama, Mervin Silva, Duminda Silva, Weerawansa, Tissa Attanayake, Dayan Jayathilake, etc. are immensely contributing to Mahinda’s defeat.
I can’t wait to see what the new govt, if elected is going to do to these lowlife parasites. They should be put in jail for life.

However, the last minute game plan by Mahinda & Gota may shock all of us. In the miracle of Asia, miracles could still happen and ballot boxes could be filled in favor of Mahinda. As Mahinda’s cronies say “In good way or bad way we will be in power”. Good way is impossible so only the second option is possible. Common Opposition must be prepared to face it with people’s power.

dont worry even if the bugger would be relected most likely by vote rigging, his will not last longer – becasue the wave that is being made is becoming more powerful akin to that of that of Tunisia or the like … even if people have not named it after (arab spring).
Having listened to last night#s Satana telecasted on Sirasa, I felt there still guys who would not disagree with MR just for the elimination of LTTE terror. He was one senior lecturer who cant imagine that arguments/cases/raises made by opposition not once several hundreds times in and out of parliament were deliberately neglected by MR regime. He went on saying, if there are abuses – all allies in opposition should make entries… how can the lectuer NOT know … the real situation of JUSTICE and Fairness of Regime while lectuering at Kelaniya University ? See as Dr. Dambare Amila thero made it very clear – unfortutnately the kind of lectuerers are crowded in today s society for some estimable reasons while many in the country today are seeking for a great change.

Thanks for a well written article on the Medamulana MaRa Perverts.

Can you include as a Chapter in Common Sense Phamplet Sri Lanka 2014.

Chapter X. Medamulana Mara and his Perverts and Criminals. The message needs to get to the common citizen who is too busy making a living and who does not have the time to get lost in the Internet, Twitter, Facebook, U-tube etc.,. That person needs a printed pamphlet, that is brief, in Sinhala and Tamil.

It will be like Gam Peraliya, Pervert Peraliya.

Can you do it. It can be 47 pages, 37 pages, 27 pages, 17 pages or even 7 pages.

Let us all help our President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa retire and enjoy a retired life…

Towards that we need all the help we can get..

Here is a preamble for the Common Sense Phamplet Sri Lanka 2014, to help Mahinda Rajapaksa Retire.. and Would yoy write the Common Sense Phamplet in English and Translate to Sinhala and Tamil as the people need to be educated and informed..

The cause of Sri Lanka, the Land of Native Veddah is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. Many circumstances hath, and will arise, which are not local, but universal, and through which the principles of all Lovers of Mankind are affected, and in the Event of which, their Affections are interested. The laying a Country desolate with Fire and Sword and Guns, declaring War against the natural rights of all Mankind, and extirpating the Defenders thereof from the Face of the Earth, is the Concern of every Man to whom Nature hath given the Power of feeling; of which Class, regardless of Party Censure, is the author.

As a long and violent abuse of power, is generally the Means of calling the right of it in question (and in Matters too which might never have been thought of, had not the Sufferers been aggravated into the inquiry) and as the Medamulana Mahinda Rajapaksa hath undertaken in his own right, to support the Parliament in what he calls theirs, and as the good people of this country are grievously oppressed by the combination, they have an undoubted privilege to inquire into the pretensions of both, and equally to reject the usurpation of either.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Sense_%28pamphlet%29

    Common Sense (pamphlet)

Common Sense[1] is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1775–76 that inspired people in the Thirteen Colonies to declare and fight for independence from Great Britain in the summer of 1776. In clear, simple language it explained the advantages of and the need for immediate independence. It was published anonymously on January 10, 1776, at the beginning of the American Revolution and became an immediate sensation. It was sold and distributed widely and read aloud at taverns and meeting places. Washington had it read to all his troops, which at the time had surrounded the British army in Boston. In proportion to the population of the colonies at that time (2.5 million), it had the largest sale and circulation of any book published in American history.[2]

Common Sense presented the American colonists with an argument for freedom from British rule at a time when the question of whether or not to seek independence was the central issue of the day. Paine wrote and reasoned in a style that common people understood. Forgoing the philosophical and Latin references used by Enlightenment era writers, he structured Common Sense as if it were a sermon, and relied on Biblical references to make his case to the people.[3] He connected independence with common dissenting Protestant beliefs as a means to present a distinctly American political identity.[4] Historian Gordon S. Wood described Common Sense as “the most incendiary and popular pamphlet of the entire revolutionary era”.[5]

“Ours is a society in which women are respected for being our mothers and sisters. “

    Comedy Thamai!

A country lead by Pramawathi fame queen Srimavo and Krishanti fame Princes Chandrika! Sweet story tellers are these Sinhala intellectuals. Did one single piece of legislation in the country by these two women enacted because of most heinous crime committed under their administration?

Chandrika protected an entire army camp which tasted an entire community and buried in Chemmani. The man accused claimed it was done by his superiors; for that Rajapakse was tortured by Chandrika’s army.

Which is that country “in which women are respected for being our mothers” ? Lankave? Does he read news, at least once in month?
Lanka is one with the 21 countries that use the sex against the women as weapon. Which countries are these 21? By mistake don’t think of America, Norway, Finland, Canada, Britain, France…… Not even Cuba, North Korea…
Congo, Sudan, Liberia is the list. This ugly Lanka is one within them. Don’t fool everyone.

Culture-less, uncivilized, Barbaric, bad tasteful Intellectuals, guided by unmarried, drugs addict, notorious monks, who were sold as children by poor parents to get rid of them because of poverty, rule the country that is called Lanka. There are no mothers, no respect for mother, not just no respect for women, not even for children…. only fake propaganda during election time to one party discredit the other party…..

Fix the UNP first. All these time Mervyn has been bargaining with UNP. Thuminda is a UNP child. Tell Hirunika first to pay compensation for those destroyed by Premachandra. Where is from her dramatic tears are from now that did not come until her father doing it for others?

If I am the one feed on 90,000 widowed poor, then I am Hambantota thug. Is it that Buddha invented the hand bomb or is it in Mahanama invented the hand bomb for this holistic purpose?

It is ok for me Which ever the way the Sinhala Intellectuals wish, as long as you find a Sinhala Buddhist you can put the blame to cover up everything.

Let me ask something. Is it no longer Sinhala Buddhist? Is it something new as Hambantota thug? How does this new thing looks like? It is looks like I am little bit behind in the CT’s Kings and Queens.

Navin You you don’t have to waste the time to write and tell me that. If you read my above, I have exactly described who you are, the Sinhala Intellectuals. If didn’t know the Sinhala Intellectuals like you how would have written the above comment?

That is for what this society reared and brought up. That is how the Buddhists bald heads interpreted the Sinhala Buddhism. That how the life goes there. That is what the teaching goes there, day and night. That all what have been taught to you talk and wright. For second you were on wrong side and stated to talk about mothers. Now you have taken the real Sinhala Intellectuals’ stand.

Still can not let the Mothers go free by this world’s one of 21 dirty country’s majority Society.

Is that how the great Sinhala Buddhist, Sinhala Intellectuals relive the pain on their “Mothers”?

Great Culture of respecting the Mothers.

Poor Ms Ananthi didn’t because she was not up to speed in English.

But Rosy speaks even better English than Maithri and Ranil put together….

And she is from the best stable you would find in any part of the Island..

Is it because Ms Rosy is too good that Ms CBK ruled her out..

This article should motivate the well educated youths ( both males and females ) and particularly the university students to organise themselves and go on door to door campaign in all the 9 provinces to prevent their motherland hitting the rock bottom.

The Sri Lankan youths have the intelligence , wisdom and the means to take the country to a new era.
I understand many youths have organised themselves and working at the ground level to educate the innocent voters and also taking measures to prevent or reduce possible vote rigging and from harassing and intimidation by the power full.

Presidential Elections and the People – Prof Savitri Goonasekera

Many people have described the Presidential elections 2015 as a “defining” event in the history of our country. The unfolding scene also highlights the depths to which our national politics has sunk, and the complete blurring of the difference between what is acceptable and not acceptable behavior on the part of those holding public office.
Certain incidents that would have elicited a negative public response have gone unnoticed or ignored in our country even in the mainstream print media. Why are we all so unwilling to react when:
    1. The Minister of Higher Education S. B. Dissanayake in a televised statement declares that when the incumbent President wins the next election, former President Chandrika Kumaranatunga will be thrown to the ground, kicked, her head split, and she will be chased through the streets, naked. The Minister of Education Bandula Gunewardene in a broadcast about the same time made a speech heavy with sexual innuendo, and referred to a “dog without a tail ” “who cannot make love” being trailed by a bitch. Are these the voices and personalities we have chosen to guide the destinies of this country in the areas of education and higher education? The academic community has referred to rampant politicization of the higher education system through political appointees to university administration and the regulatory authorities on Higher Education. If these are the guiding hands on policy what is the future of education in this country? Have we not already become “the miracle of education” in Asia by not demanding the immediate resignation of these men who have denigrated women and legitimized using violence against women, including women in politics? The SLFP voted for the world’s first woman prime minister and yet ministers in that same party dare to speak in this manner with complete impunity.

    2. Much is said about rampant corruption in the name of economic growth and development. Why are we no longer shocked and are silent when a cabinet minister publicly declares that this government has plundered enough, and they in government do not need more money, advising people not to vote for a change, because a new government will begin plundering all over again. Despite ample evidence to the contrary, including from other Asian countries, these publicly stated and dangerously distorted values encourage the myth that corruption does not negatively impact on growth and in fact sustains economic growth.

The President of the country admits to safeguarding and maintaining in his personal possession files on corruption. By our silence on this extraordinary revelation we have legalized political bargaining based on the plundering of our national resources. We have given up the idea that corruption is a crime and that a President in possession of this material has a responsibility and duty to follow the law of the land and ensure that criminals are prosecuted. What better way to legitimize the plundering of resources when the highest in the land smiles broadly and states in public that he does not require cash but only a cup of coffee to get a cross over to his party? Vote buying is thus legitimized as a national political pastime. No one seems to understand or react to the publicly stated contempt for the people’s right to the franchise under our Constitution, and their sovereign right to vote for the candidate of their own choice.

    3. We have heard much about eating the boss’s egg hoppers at breakfast and letting down the boss. If this is a breach of trust, what of making an election promise to the nation to abolish the executive presidency, followed by a manipulation of crossovers to obtain a 2/3 majority that the country did not give, and passing a law that violates the peoples constitutional rights, by permitting an incumbent President to contest elections for unlimited terms, and continue as executive President for life?

8 January 2015 is indeed a defining day in our country’s history. People of goodwill and sound values uncorrupted by false gods should reflect and vote on both the personalities we entrust with public office and their policies. The Guttila Kavya speaks of charcoal never becoming white. What we want for our beloved country must not be delinked from abiding values on what is right and wrong, and what is and what is not in the public interest.

Reading this article you realize that this regime is full of thugs, rogues, and perverts. They are not held accountable for these disgusting crimes, are protected, sent to Singapore to avoid facing the law, making the Rajapaksa’s complicit in these crimes. What poor standards for a country. There is no justice for the victims of these crimes and sexist remarks. Any upstanding leader would NOT want his government stained by such disgraceful guttersnipes, but then we have come to expect no decency from the Rajapaksa’s. We have become a real banana republic, and the country is run by these uneducated louts, who bring nothing but embarrassment to our country. If the Rajapaksa’s wanted to show some respect for women, they would have kicked these jokers out from their government, and shown some respect towards women. It is obvious that these people keep doing this because they know they can get away with it, and be supported and protected by their savior.

A minimum requirement for MP’s, mayors, etcetera to have O-level education plus a background check ensuring there have been no criminal offences would probably solve a lot of these issues.

But typical Sri Lankan: everyone would agree with the above but nobody will implement it.

What is left is that Sri Lanka will become the geisha of China, that feed’s it petty cash (from the 1300.000.000.000 USD it has in it’s petty cash drawer) and perhaps the only benefit will be that eventually labour in Sri Lanka will be cheaper than anywhere else – making it the best place to have underwear to be sown here, so that the rest of the world can change it on a daily basis.

For those who can’t find any job in Sri Lanka, they can clean the toilets of arabs, who have a culture where it is “not done” that arabs actually work.

Slaves of China, the middle east, and of our own government MPs.

Once a slave? Always a slave?

    Also take newspaper ads

Have rally made of just only the female opposition leaders and expose the acts

When the Head of State blasts out from the platform that ‘ so and so is riding so and so’s wife’, what else can one expect from his Deputies? They merely follow the example set by the Leader. MR is not fit to govern. He is a thug and so he was effective at war time. But certainly not in peace time.

    Perverts and Criminals were listed.

How about Thieves, Bribe Takers, Swindlers, Drug dealers, Money Launderers, Racists, Desecrators of the Buddha’s Teaching (the Balu Sena), Rapists, and so on?

    There will be nobody left.

“Desecrators of the Buddha’s Teaching (the Balu Sena),”

Those who desecrate Buddha’s Teaching have a name, they are widely known as Sinhala/Buddhists.

As I have said in the past we need to liberate Buddha’s teaching from Sinhala/Buddhists, in fact as a matter of urgency.

Thanks Srilal. let s pray the best our MAJORITY folks to turn their minds to the positivity by 8th of Jan. It is their hands whether or not ballige putha will get reeelcted. Sorry to burst your bubble . Not all the ladies listed by you are paragons of virtue . One in particular , was involved in an adulterous affair with a young parliamentary colleague , causing tremendous heartache to his young wife and children . The poor fellow subsequently lost his bearings and did a pole vault to the other side , and was made a Provincial Chieftain by his Emperor .

Amarasiri: You make reference to a “Common Sense” document. If you are living among the “COMMONS” in Sri Lanka, you will certainly find that “COMMON SENSE” prevailing at this moment: WE NEE A CHANGE. Yet, that “Common Sense” is unduly influenced and interrupted by way of a spread of a “FEAR PSYCHOSIS” through a well organized campaign designed by the present administration. I have come across many people(common) who fear to openly talk or listen to any subject relating to administration of public affairs by the Government for fear of being noted as “Anti Government” and would be subjected to harassment if the January 8th results are to re-install MR’s rule. You wouldn’t believe; some are even told that their vote would be “checked” to find out to whom they have voted. That is how the so called “Secret Vote” has been degraded and “mobilized” to inculcate that “FEAR PSYCHOSIS” among the “Commons” in the country. So many, many, other “TACTIC” are being deployed among the “Commons” and I do not know how that “Common Sense” of a much desired CHANGE could be brought about. The only way I see and even suggested by way comments is for the country’s “INTELLECTUALS” to rise against this “wave” of intimidation and get out of their “CAECUM” and get mixed with the COMMONS and EMPOWER them to be a reckoning force. So to make it short: THE COMMON SENSE IS PREVAILING AND VISIBLE, BUT NOT ALLOWED TO SURFACE AND FLOWER. That I consider is the WORST CRIME against humanity.

After Jan8th 2015 all hell will break loose if MR wins OR loses. There can be several scenarios. If he wins [God forbid] all those known to have worked against him should be prepared for the worst. If he loses the Army headed by Gota will capture Power. The only way out is to ensure a very high voter turnout for the CC TO AVOID A CLOSE FINISH.Women constitute 52% of the population.Their support needs to be garnered particularly the women in the Rural hinterland.Appropriate methods to net in their votes needs to be formulated,in double quick time.Amarasiri a tireless commentator on the topic of the Commonsense Pamphlet could be consulted.I think this election to save Srilanka from the clutches of a DINOSAURS family, will be decided by the women..

How dare this Rajapakse family force these lowlife scoundrels upon us.
It’s a matter of destruction of the social fabric of a nation.
How the hell have we become so impotent as to let this happen.
This is the last chance to put these criminals away
Rajapakse only finished the war to establish his corrupt dictatorship it looks like

MR knows exactly where to dump them.

While you are busy worrying about low-lives he knows how best to serve his clan.

O please. MR and his party maybe cronies but it is thanks to him that our country came out of the horror that was the war with LTTE. Did I honestly see chandrika commended in the first paragraph? Wow that treacherous bitch ruined Sri lanka and did nothing to develop the country or even end the war. MR on the other hand had the war ended while keeping the vultures of the international community at bay from interfering and went on to oversee the development of the country. What does he get in return? Shit piled on him and his closest party members stabbing him in the back (things like this gives nepotism a strong case). Worst of all, the public that he helped at the risk of himself being dragged into international courts, betrays and turns against him while forgetting that MR’s opposition is a worse bag of scum.

      Proud Lankan,

It’s people like you who will have the country destroyed because of
your so called gratitude to one person. If he finished the war to do what
he is doing now, we need someone else at the helm. The war finishing is great, agreed, but when are you going to wake up to the present reality, as to where the country is headed?

“MR and his party maybe cronies but it is thanks to him that our country came out of the horror that was the war with LTTE.”

Please thank your Sun God VP for winning the war for MR.

Please thank as MR and GR did just after war on the record that the war would not have been won if not for Hindia.

Hindians persuaded Chandrika in early 2005 to go for all out war against VP and LTTE and promised to support her war effort with all kind of military and financial support. Hindians delivered what they promised including more than a billion dollar financial support.

I know its not easy but try and control your sexual urges when you dream MR’s glorious war victories.

“MR on the other hand had the war ended while keeping the vultures of the international community at bay from interfering”

If anything the thirty countries which supported the war to the end exercised self restrain and Hindia made sure they towed Hindian line of thinking(?) through out the war. Hindian diplomats were more active than the stupid Sinhala/Buddhist ones during and after the war.

Had the West wanted to stop the war they had many options.

Little islanders crave for attention and pride themselves for killing innocent. MR got his 15 minutes of fame and sack full of gold paid by village youth, its time the clan quit.

I see no difference between VP supporters and MR loyalists, both fan clubs are driven by hatred and stupidity. Its time you took stock of your own stupidity or did a reality check.

Today MY3 too betraying himself the values of good governance for which he claims for by saying maintaining a military zone within civilian population living in north.

Simply MY3’s coalition themselves have conflicting definition of what is “good governance” and willing to betray the right of the citizens which is very unfortunate though his 100 days project to bring “ex. presidency” accountable to rule of law.

Those who hold high office must be men and women of good moral fibre. They are, after all, lawmakers and servants of the people. It amazes me how such thugs and sundry riff-raff are put into positions that demand a high sense of responsibility, wisdom and dedication.
For this alone this government has to be voted out. I once respected MR as the man who had the guts to do what had to be done to end the war. That respect has slowly waned away seeing how he has mismanaged the peace that good men fought and died for.
