Soon after former President Mahinda Rajapaksa signed nomination papers, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has left for the UK, sources close to her confirmed Colombo Telegraph.
They also added that Kumaratunga was livid after President Maithripala Sirisena agreed to give nominations to the former President from the UPFA.
Kumaratunga was also against giving nominations to the close allies of Rajapaksa. However, it has now been revealed that they have already signed nomination papers and Kumaratunga’s requests have been ignored by the party leadership.
However, when contacted by Colombo Telegraph, a member of Kumaratunga’s staff said she left for England to attend a family matter. He said the former President is expected to return soon.

He could work against all those men who attacked him brutally prior to Prez election, but he never chose that way to teach them lession, there I feel, Mr Sirisena is the only leader who has done that much to this nation humanly. These buggers born to Rajapakshe only thought of their own pockets. Last two weeks I was back in home country to see my elderly parents, there the difference was made very clear – almost everyone is given a place – no harrasement is seen in the society. I enjoyed it actually. But at the time Rajapakshes were in power – not many felt that there do exist democracy in the island. They did whatever they the idiots thought was right.
One thing MY3 LED govt lacked was – they could not get passed an amendment which says – almost everyone regardless of the political might should be entitled to previaling law and order of the country. Now some beleive – all high magnititude of frauds being carried out by MR deliberately cant be investigated just beause the man was the president- if this the case, we the right respecting of the island born losers.
