This Is The Most Spineless Cabinet I’ve Been Part Of: Mangala

Minister of Finance and Media Mangala Samaraweera in the course of a heated argument with Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne said that the current cabinet is the weakest he has ever been a part of.

Mangala Samaraweera

The argument took place during the cabinet meeting this morning (July 31) when Senaratne sought Cabinet to approve a salary hike for railway workers.

Senaratne, who had along with Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training Sarath Amunugama, met with striking railway workers yesterday, had promised to move Cabinet to meet their demands.

Samaraweera however had objected, pointing out that the Treasury as well as the President had agreed to streamline salary increments so that salary hikes will be uniform across sectors in accordance to a single formula. He pointed out further that ad hoc decisions on salaries could prompt other sectors to make similar demands.

Samaraweera insisted that a country cannot be governed in this manner.

Although the issue does not come under Senaratne’s ministerial purview, he continued to urge cabinet to give into the striking workers. Amunugama meanwhile argued that if the strike action is not dealt with there could be serious repercussions, especially for Advances Level students who are due to sit the examination in August.

It was at this point that an incensed Samaraweera blurted out ‘mama meet kalinuth cabinet vala indala thiyenava eth me tharam konda pana nathi cabinet ekak dakalama naha (I have been in cabinets before but I’ve never seen such a spineless cabinet)!’

I wish the team that did the programme. “Always Breakdown” on the TNL would get together and do it again. Everyone enjoyed it at that time with the songs and dances. Now we have talk shows (Wada pitiya, Janahanda, Balaya etc.) with political actors arguing blaming to earlier government, for their failures.

But ‘Always Breakdown’ was unique a class by itself. — It had all it ingredients for a successful run. It was never dull or hearing. Now there is more ammunition to fire with politicians of all colours (blue, red, yellow, green).

Wada pitiya, Balaya and Satana have there own Political agendas. The journos are biased.

We need to give a priority to publish only meaning ful articles

If CT or other would too, help getting Rajapakshes rise , things could become worst.

Even if the BANK SCAM costed some billions, but that is not the burden this govt faces.

It is the HIDDEN heavy loans and interest of them that the current men have to pay back. How about telling the truth to the nation ?WHY TO MAKE ROUND ABOUTS about the loans taken by previous men ?

Sri Lanka Railways and public transport services are being asset stripped in order to privatize train and bus services. For example, the planned Chinese line in Hambantota and Hungarian Bus operator.
The salary hike is a sort of bribe to employees and TUs .
SL Railways lands are being sold off, and SLR is buying obsolete and expensive train engines from General Electric, a US multinational that has filed for bankruptcy.
The IMF /right wing MCC – Millennium Challenge Corp. writes Bondscam Ranil’s economic policy and strategy and provide fake advice to Bondscam Ranil:
The IMF-MCC Debt trap strategy is to run public corporations into the ground with DEBT and then privatize, as with Sri Lankan Airlines which was to be purchased by Texas Pacific Group (TPG) , a US Hedge fund after Ratwatta destroyed it following Rajapaksa’s looting of Sri Lankan Airlines.

No private company wants to get into public transport such as buses or railways due to subsidised pricing.

Hope we can hood wink the Chinese and the Hungarians to take up public transport !!

      Sandra,

These are just parrots being placed by those TV senders.

I have been searching for any open discussion where those able men have interviewed Rajapakshe family on the following questions

      1) With several dozens of allegations being levelled at them to have grabed funds that could better be used for the poor – able journos keep away not making efforts to give them the opportunity to explain their side of stories.
I mean Basil had several times been remaded but each time ended up in Hospitals having said him to have been suffering from HIGHLY cirtical health problems, so was th ecase with his cousin former tea tasted turned to SL ambassador to the US in the high days of Mr Medamulana Musalaya
      2) If they each want to work to the nation again, they should have CLEAN profiles meaning … those allegations based investigaitons should get behind them could do lot more to both sides
      3) Then Gotler the man to have all efficiency not forgetting on the top of the list being in the area of let innocient people missing or killing – none other than Gotabaya the most capable man to the gallery- should be posed questions, how he could do the job , if his profile is no clean at all, why the kind of men have been fooling the nation today. ? All these should be discussed by THOSE senders if they are powerful enough.

Grapevine News item; July 31, 2018 from a Land like No Other

Non-emergency surgeries will not be done, clinics will not be held, and out patient departments will not function from next Friday, when govt doctors halt work to demand million rupee annual allowances, school privileges for their children, and solutions to nine other gripes, including the approval of Singapore FTA. One of the most beautiful souls that this country has ever produced Mangala Pinsiri Samaraweera (62) epitomizes the stature of the supreme parliamentarian. He has set a very high benchmark not even Donald J Trump can beat.

This act in today’s cabinet personifies this.

Mangala was raised to a high stature by Chandrika in the mid 1990s. Though Sudu Nelum was a failure, he managed to monopolise the electronic media. Since that day there’s hardly a day that has passed where Mangala did not visit our living rooms through the idiot box.

Anyways, what would have been the alternative.

I THINK IT IS HIGH TIME; THEY THE RULERS HAVE TO ARRANGE A PUBLIC FORUM WHERE FORMER AND CURRENT MEN CAN DISCUSS THE ISSUES SO OPEN – HOW MUCH OF MOUNTAINS OF DEBTS LEFT BY BALLIGE PUTHA by 2014 – and HOW WE THE NATION HAVE TO SETTLE THE DEBTS ONE BEHIND THE OTHER- just keeping it for CABINET only or CURRENT DUO LEADERS only cant bring us forward

Whatever sloth moves are seen, It should be thousand time better than the one who governed by an ONE man show until 2015. EARLIER, they enjoyed a lot but today, the leaders cant enjoy even their TEA.

There, we did not nothign but rascal family members just discussed intern and got passed collosal amounts of statefunds as they thought was right. Chogem was a highly wasteful event .. but people were kept silent by their media men – feeding them with SINIBOLA.

TOday, the burden on the govt is really high: Huge sums of loans with interests to be paid off, but who would finance if not tax payers funds.
In the same time, ballige putha Rajpaakshe has guts to say, not even a Culvert was built during 3 years … he does not know that his arbitory loan taking emptied the state.
People and their back lickers nod their heads and tails as if MEGALOMANIAC is telling the truth. Media men just cratch their back and heads as if they endorse what the bugger has been uttering to the same gallery.

As a Minister on public funds he errected a lift for his mother in his government quarters which has only one floor,

Mangala learned Clothing Design and Technology.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangala_Samaraweera
So, he is better educated than the 94 MPs who do not have even O Level qualification.
Hence, even performed as Foreign Minister.
Sri Lanka is really ‘scraping the bottom of the barrel’.
