4. Put up a war memorial, like the Vietnam War Memorial, and include all Sr Lankans, Tamil, Sinhala, Muslim, Malay and Burgher who were killed due to the Sinhala Buddhist Racism. Tamil Racism and Religious Intolerance both inter and Intra.
One cannot cure an alcoholic, or racist unless they admit and are exposed.

I have never seen a dabate like in my life except in the fish markets in 3rd world. Is this a common Indian thing to interrupt or talk over the other party? He is an agent of the western intelligence who has been involved in over throwing the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty for the past 40 years. Sub Swamy has no shame or conscience in defending the atrocities of the SL military. He goes on about authentication of the video clip but the previous “No Fire Zone” clips were authenticated by UN appointed experts and Swamy has not uttered a word about it. The only response he gave to the brutal murder of Isaipriya was ask if the clip had been authenticated. I don’t know why Swamy is given a platform to talk as he has no influence over anything or anybody in India. The man is a paid talking head – you pay he talks.

I disagree with Dayan’s positions, but I could not help but be impressed by his performance. He was composed, articulate and never lost his cool. Contrast this to Dr Swamy who is actually a very well known pundit who has been on international new channels such as Fox News. DJ was on a class of his own. I also noticed that he wore a black Nehru collared shirt instead of his standard shirt and tie, in order to pander to the North Indian viewers – nice touch! I had this same surreal experience of being impressed by someone I fundamentally disagreed with, when I watched Rajiva Wijesinghe debate Steven Surkur on BBCs hardball. Steven was extremely aggressive, yet despite having to defend the indefensible, Rajiva deftly parried everything thrown at him and even got in a few blows of his own!
Dayan as a professional diplomat is doing his best to defend his former employer (and his country). I couldn’t help but think to myself “Thank god this guy is not the president of the country, he may actually convince everyone that May 2009 was ok!”. The Rajapaksas, especially Gothabaya, are an easy target because they have zero self awareness and are blind to their own bigotry – they do not understand the way the world sees them. It is far easier to caricature them as villains. In the end, VP made the right choice in selecting MR over RW all those years ago. I don’t think the West would have ganged up on RW the way they have on MR, because like Dayan or Rajiva, RW would be seen as one of their own.
I think it is inevitable that the truth is revealed despite Dayans best efforts, and that it will lead to an independent NE. I don’t think this will be an end, but a beginning. It won’t be a moment of Joyous celebration, but a moment of quiet reflection, because the Tamil people, and anyone who loves the NE, will have the extraordinary burden of building a country and a society that’s worthy of the memory of Isaipriya. She gave everything she had for the dream of freedom. Even after her death, she is sacrificing her dignity (The whole world has now seen her naked body) in order to advance the cause of freedom.
I hope that the NE will be free of the Xenophobia that has plagued SL since independence, and becomes a meritocracy. Maybe they will even recruit the Dayans and Rajivas of the world, by asking “The war is over man, will you come and bat for Trinco now?”. If that happened, I can guarantee that DJ would do a first class job for them.
