Rathana thera made this statement today in the parliament when it convened for the first time since the election of the new President.

“These investigations cannot be stopped by the Prime Minister, the cabinet or myself. We have already received over 30,000 complaints on corruption. The people are watching and we have made a promise and we will see that it is made a reality,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe making the opening statement in the Parliament today said its a historical day in Sri Lanka and said despite the varying political views held by the convened MPs, everyone should collaborate and work together in order to overcome the economical and political crisis the country.

“There are local and international challenges that need to be overcome and to this end, let us all unite and work together and set an example for the future generations,” he said.

The new Opposition Leader MP Nimal Siripala de Silva who made a statement said they hold no reservations about supporting the 100-day program but added it is important for the government to consult the opinions of the Opposition when implementing the policies of the 100-day program.

JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said they would provide their fullest support for the constitutional amendment that would change the present Executive Presidential system.

Well, I understand from the logistical point of view the delay in seeing some activity. Although some have begun to lose faith in the process as they do not see the “big fish” caught in the net yet.

Justice needs to be seen to be done. Timing is crucial as well if not the old guard will be able to win points. From a realpolitik sense it may be necessary. Perhaps drag the old Sports Minster through the courts. Action against him was pending for years.

There was another guy who did not attend the corruption hearing because he was allegedly “bitten by a snake”. People want to see him behind bars ASAP too.

Just apply the law equally, so that the people will become Law Biding Citizens, and the country and the people can move forward.

Then it will be Yaha Palanaya.

PS. Do prosecute the current Offenders.

Honestly there’s no such thing as “yahapalanaya.”
Everyone, including the citizenry must work to their
own satisfaction in their undertakings and in all
circumstances, otherwise this is going to end like a
“mantra” similar to that of “chintanaya.” Chintanaya
indulged in corruption and lawlessness.Nepotism and
        authoritarianism were their ultimate motives
achievements.Getting rid of these are dubbed
“yahapalanaya.” There can not be any such yahapalanaya
without ordinary man fully embracing it.So,calling the
Govt “yahapalanaya” leaving the people clueless of
        their role can later backfire.

A neat division of labour appears to be falling into place. Ven. Rathana Thero like Hercules is seeking to cleanse the stables, to rid public life of corruption. He seems intent on doing it unrelentingly.

If government moves slowly, a 3 day time-lined fast (Never a purported fast unto death)will give the effort momentum.

Independence Square is tailor made for lakhs to gather to make independence real.

When narrow minded monks/religious leaders get out of politics in Sri Lanka and the rest of the world we would have peace.

See the attacks on the innocents in the middle east carried out in the name of “religion”

See the attacks in Burma and Sri Lanka by Ashin Wirathu (Burma) and BBS/JHU (SL).

    See the Christian fundamentalists.

    Jewish fundamentalists.

All same. I wish they would just go away (BBS/JHU) and leave the country to heal.

Not a bad idea to convert all Magistrate courts during the 100 day program to hear cases on corruption!!

We will never know the actual extent of corruption.

Happy to hear the comments by the ven.thera, who is fighting hard along with others against corruption and to instil good governance. We also agree that jungle laws should not be applied but the democratic legal process must be followed. However the mass of the people are anxious to see some actions are initiated against the offenders with the least possible delay.

The people have suffered immensely due to the unprecedented corruption by the previous regime whatever the position they may have held earlier

Or, has he been appointed as the Sheriff?..

LOL, Mervyn your former witch doctor has now become the self-confessed Witch Finder General! Seems he is tracking the scent of former elite guards. You better hide fast before he catches you

Why are you now finding fault with Mervyn? After all he was strongman of your government until recently. There will be no jungle law or courts of your time. All culprits would be tried in courts and punished. May be painful for you!!!

LTTE Proxy TNA Leader Sambandan demands Power Sharing under a Federal System, from his Coalition Partners in return for defeating Rajapksa.

That was the main event of this historical occasion in SL Parliament , where the PM has no mandate from the inhabitant population.

With the other major partner SLMC, Bathdeen and Assath Sally , Sambandan has a serious claim this time unlike in the past.

It will be just two provinces under a Federal System. Muslim Tamil and Sinhala province.just like in Quebec .

This is better than having 7 Bandits to rule our 75 % inhabitant population even if they are from CT’s Royal List.

    Justice delayed is justice derailed.

People are watching the coalition and MS / RW / Champika partnership should prove to the people that the vote of confidence that they placed on the coalition has not been betrayed.

All corruption and the attempted coup should be investigated in full and the persons responsible should be arrested forthwith before they tamper with evidence.

Rev. Ratana Thero: “EHAMY HAMUDURUWANE”. Please don’t allow any of them to “escape”. Even if you are “accused”, and action filed, please STAY AWAY from Parliament until the case is heard and a verdict is given. That will set an “EXAMPLE to others. If needed necessary laws must be brought in to put that into practice.

Why not have a TV Channel and a Radio link to air out the proceedings of the Legislature. All of us who cannot afford entry to the “Gallery” can view how our Representatives are “behaving” and “contributing” to build this country. That will replace the “Teledrama” menace and provide information to “educate” and “participate” in the affars of the country. Still for some it will be “Teledrama” session too. Please, Mr. Speaker give serious thinking to this proposal.

Aney Saadhu! Have you filed your complaint with evidence to the appropriate authorities? If you don’t have any isn’t all this nice talk is to the gallery? First set the example of filing a complaint with evidence.

Wonder where Gota hid the 50mn spent to build the ‘Sadaham arana’which might fall in to the catagory of unlawful expenditure and there fore corruption.

Yes, you MP monks, your lay MPs and ministers have been talking about this corruption allegations long before January 8 and nothing substantial has happened yet even after full powers to probe them have been granted to you. Now some of you are talking about another teledrama: a ‘real coup d’etat'(as per Minister Champika Ranawaka) on Election day night. General public are already exhausted about listening to you Parliamentarians who just talk, talk and talk with no action taken. However, certain actions have been taken, that go against the public interest. Just see, you guys are just over 110 MPs in parliament and out of that 52 are already ministers!!!! Are you guys signalling something worst than what the MR regime did? I’m just just curious!!!
