The passport of former Defence Secretary and Rajapaksa sibling Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has been impounded, as per a request made by the CID.

The Galle Magistrate had impounded Gotabaya’s passport as well as passports of former Navy Commander Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake, Rakna Arakshaka Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd Director Major General (retd) K. Egodawela and Avant Garde Managing Director Manjula Yapa, from leaving the country.
The CID had requested the travel restriction to be imposed in order to facilitate the investigation into the gloating armoury that was raided in January, which Avant Garde has claimed ownership to.
Correction: An earlier version of this story inaccurately stated that “A travel restriction has been imposed on former Defence Secretary and Rajapaksa sibling Gotabaya as per a request made by the CID.”

put their intelligence people on the job and it cannot be that difficult to find the drivers,if Police work seriously on the job,

There is nothing to stop Gotabhaya obtaining Travel Documents from the US Embassy as entitled to as an American citizen. I trust the CID has obtained the co-operation of USA and Interpol which cannot be uncertain as Gotabhaya might already be in their radar in the UN’s investigations on the War Crimes. This is Karma catching up. Some years ago, a family of squatters moved into my friend’s house occupied by his relatives.
