Hugo Swire

Hugo Swire

Swire had met with Tamil diaspora organizations including Tamils Against Genocide (TAG) and the Global Tamil Forum (GTF) yesterday in London.

Soon after the meeting, the Human Rights and Communications team of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office tweeted about the meeting through their handle:

@FCOHumanRights :

@HugoSwire met UK #Tamil group reps- discussed #humanrights in #SriLanka. UK strongly supports #OHCHR independent int’l investigation.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the FCO had been quoted in media as stating that the UK is disappointed at the position adopted by the Government of Sri Lanka with regard to the OISL. The official had gone on to state that UK continues to strongly support the renewed resolution that was mandated at the March session of the UN Human Rights Council and had stated they continue to call upon the Government of Sri Lanka to both co-operate with the investigation and to make progress on the human rights and reconciliation fronts.

Speaking against various violations by Sri Lankan Government by many heads of Governments have gone with the wind. Disallowing the UN panel into Sri Lanka to investigate is another violation. Instead the president was allowed to speak at the UN. Why cannot individual governments impose economic sanctions on Sri Lanka until such time it fulfils the recommendations of the UN panel.

Tamil diaspora groups with this kind of activities are distancing them selves in achieving what ever their goals are. Angering the SL administration will not bring positive results. Future administrations will not heed to these groups who supported terror for 30 years. OK, the war crime investigation goes ahead as wanted by the diaspora groups, finds SL guilty, punishes the country. So what is in there for the Diaspora groups?
These diaspora groups need to forget the past and move forward. Forget the war crimes, there were no war crimes. Civilians were killed while fighting the terrorists in civilian clothes and when they used civilians as human shields. Diaspora should spend their money on Tamils of N&E so that they can improve their living standards.

        MANIAsekaran,

Does your melting heart sympathize with all innocent souls murdered & maimed by LTTE monkeys in the name of ethno Tamil racism overs 30 years as well?

I bet it does not. Coz’ your “pain” is selective. Restricted to yoor ethnic brothers.

Problem is we have Cry Babies such as you. Who only cry for their own.

Pain is pain. Whether Sinhalese or Tamil. It is the same.

        Cheers!

Eusensens the Eunach : I would also support any foreign body that would stand against MR regime. I am not Tamil but pure sinhalaya. I hate Rajapakshes have destroyed our nation sofar.
Being out of the country, we can do whatever we think is right to defeat Meeharaka Rajapakshe in coming months. I love people like Srilal, Native Vedda and their efforts making the rest aware of the danger before us if MR regime would be there for the future. Ther ei s no respect and dignity under Rajapakshes. Only culprits of all kind are being bred by MR crime friendly politics. No rule of law at all in action in the country today – though I am very against Chris Nonis, his being not addressed directly – gives a message to the world – the bunch in power are the most brutal politicians in that region. s

I need MR regime to go away more than anybody else because corruption and thuggery is getting out of hand. Having said that I do appreciate what he did to eradicate terrorism. Contrary to you I don’t support foreign bodies getting involved in getting him out, specially the terror supported Tamil diaspora groups. In my mind corruption is an internal concern and as a sovereign country we need to get rid of him democratically at the elections but not by foreign countries or diaspora groups. It is the people of SL who has to realize the level of corruption and vote him out. No way I would support terrorism or foreign influence in doing so. The only foreign influence I would accept is monitoring the elections.
By the way you seem to enjoy the word EUNUCH! Hope you are not sick.

          What does sovereign mean?
When, where and how did Sri Lanka get it from?
Did Sovereignty mean anything when Hindians invaded this island and killed, raped, maimed many innocent people?

so i stop calling you -okay pal, lets fight further this Regime to be away from us soon. It is all for the benefit of the nation regardless of our race, reglion and any thing else. FOr the short period of time, we stay alive, why to bother with th ementioned, since we are all homo sapiens and the same blood and no distntive patterns in our genetics either. It is known that Chimpanazies differ just 3% of the genetic patterns with those of human – meaning we are even close to them too. 97% of our genetics share with those apes. What I am trying to say is – we must not be like racial or making any efforts to become like Rajapakshes. There are enough evidences (prima facie) that BBS secretary (layman) is closely connected with Gotabaya – that says everything about the SINHALA BUDDHIST teledrama that has painted the picture to this date so ugly. If MR has got a healthy spine, he could address the issue so that we could feel fine not dividing any more.

You forgot democratic Gov cruelty against Sinhalese in 1971… More Sinhalese were murdered by Gov in 1988~89…again you forgot/forgave Our uncles/brothers who went to market to buy vegies , didn’t come back home, “Goni Billo Genichcha”.. again you forgot/forgave ..
You and me forgot/forgave what happened in 1977, memories of burning houses of Lanka Tamils lived among us..
You and me forgot/forgave what happened in 1983, memories of burning bodies of Lanka Tamils lived among us.
You already forgot/forgave burning 200 Lanka Muslim brothers’ homes last month
But you (not me) can NOT forget/forgave Tamil rebels murdering civilians around 83~94… or burning your special tree or the tooth in Kandy..
But you NEVER forget to call your Tamil rebellion brothers were the world MOST ruthless terrorist group… You are very shy to talk about State Terrorism..
Now you ask Tamils who were chased away from Lanka in ’77, ’83 NOT to anger SL Gov Administration (anger ?#@$%) and forget 1977, 83 , and ~2009… …
Are you prepared to forget/forgive what is going to happen in 2020, 30 and so on…

The Tamils were lucky at least some of them survived. If it was a war between West and the Tamils, US would have nuked the entire North. Look what is happening in Middle East.

Tamils must show their gratitude to assure the Sinhala/Buddhists as a matter of routine. Failure to so would anger the
Sinhala/Buddhists, state and the rulers. The Tamils must take turn to carry MR’s clanking ba**s.

          Native,
I don’t agree with your comment about USA. If Lanka Tamil rebels bombed or planned to bomb US or West cities, US may use their TAX payers money to put a Nuke in Lanka North. They can justify it economically, a bomb in US city by SL Tamil separatist terrorists or ME religious terrorists could wipeout billions of dollars from world economy…. Otherwise what gain they get by using their valuable nukes on small rebel group crying for self determination…… (cost to build a nuke ???)
Different story… Before 1950s, US put nukes in Japan… barbarian thing in most of our eyes.. But do you know USA is the most respected and loved country by Japanese now (just trust me on this comment, because I know it).. See evil Nukes can help to enhance relationship…

I have not forgotten bit of what you list here. Whether Sinhalese or Tamil the problem lied or lies with the misguided groups that believed violence and terrorism will help their cause. What did they think, there will be no repercussions to their terror activity? Did they ever think that innocent Sinhalese and Tamils will also pay the price for their foolishness? So, who do you blame? the gov. for eradicating the menace of terrorism or the terror perpetrators? Imagine if in 1977/1988/89 the Sinhalese terrorist took over the country and what would be the situation today? The leaders then and now has the obligation to protect its citizens from terrorism and taking over the government. For this reason I do not consider what the gov. did as “state terrorism”.
No one can change the past but we can change the future and move on. And that is all I can say to you. Good luck

      Make up your mind.

“Diaspora should spend their money on Tamils of N&E so that they can improve their living standards.”

      Stop patronising them.

If Diaspora ever needed advice they know whom to approach, definitely not you. Its their money they can spend it anyway they want to.

The Sinhala/Buddhist state and its rulers have been running like a headless chicken. They would be grateful if you could part your some of your advice to them.

Could you advice Gota to use the looted gold and cash from Vanni to develop N & E. That would be a very big help to the people.

will you also put the blame on TAMAIL DIASPHORA as to why the bugger criminal outfit did not even take serious at the time Dr Nonis the sheepish got attacked by Mahinda s Baggae boy ?

Did you ever think that the justice and law order should be restored in srialnka if we the nation should ever be able to develop ourselves and the nation as a whole ?

Former CJ whatever the biggest failure he made during his tenure – he is right saying that the bugger MR has no right to ask for a mandate again, after all having destroyed and abused the nation to this level. No president should be given 3 rd time chance since new comers and others definitely have their political wills to guide the nation. Just allowing their kind of MEDIA machineries to spread lies but BLAtant LIES about the opposition cant work on long term. The very same people are not stupid as he considers so.

    manisekar,
I have explained to you how these innocent civilians died. You need to also look at why all this happened. Isn’t it all because of the Parayabakeran initiated terrorist war? When he was suicide murdering over 80,000 innocent civilians for over 30 years did you talk about “death”, “merciless killings”, “genocide” and “human right violations”?? Where were you and what were you doing then? An entire generation of Tamil youth were destroyed by this mad maniac. Where is your anger for that?

Imagine if Parayabakaran continued beyond May 2009. How many more would have been killed? Now, after 2009 how many civilians were killed?? Stop your meaningless accusations and anger and move forward.

How many of the perpetrator of 1983 pogrom was punished? You fail to answer this question and disappear everytime when this is questioned.

        mani,
To tell you the truth, I don’t know. If no one was punished I apologize on behalf of all Sinhalese to the families that were affected. That is not how our legal system should work.
Having said that, I need to remind you that in normal times I have not seen Sinhalese mobs carrying out such attacks on Tamils. what happened in 1983 was a counter reaction to Tamil terrorists killing several soldiers. The Tamil terror perpetrators should have anticipated such a reaction when they decided to murder those soldiers. So I guess you may be inclined to take half the blame for what happened in 1983.
Mani, I never disappear as you thought. I may have missed your question. But when people like Native Vedda posts unintelligent statements I sometimes feel he should disappear!

          Good,
“That is not how our legal system should work” this is exactly the root cause of the problem, to make a step further, could you sight any judgement that punished the similar perpetrators in 1977 riots against Tamils?

            1

            mani,
As far as I recall this is what happened. Militant Tamil Youth from the North were organizing guerilla groups with support from offices in Tamil Nadu, India. When they killed two [Sinhalese] policemen in Jaffna in mid-August 1977, anti Tamil rioting broke out in many parts of the country.

GTF ,the most Militant ex Tiger outfit lead by the LTTE supporter Rev Emmanuel, stopped the SL President not once , but twice from coming to London.

British Govt excuse was they couldn’t assure the President’s safety and advised to stay away.

Reverend Emmanuels’s mouth piece Mr Surendran was in Madras last week, the closest he can get , boasted that the TNA and GTF are all Two in One now.

The deputy HC in our Harbour City has been touring not only the Vellala run North but, the Muslim dominated East, meeting the TNA reps and activists , including more Reverends.

Probably this high powered meet between Swire and Emmanuel was to asses the HC reports and the progress of the 15 Resolutions which obviously had most in put from the GTF, according to Mr Suren Surendran.

Did our UNP Christian faction Leader who is in London, also meet up with them?…
