        Abstention + No votes = 12 + 12 = 24 – Yes votes 23 = 1

If you think about it Tamil terrorists and fellow travellers are the losers.

That ‘1’ is India which is even now, with Pakistan and Bangladesh and to some extent the rest of SAARC too, excised out of it is technically many countries. So you could then argue the difference is by many countries.

The fact of the matter is, as we know very well, India is drifting rudderless after training, arming and even demanding blood across the narrow sea, in Sri Lanka. Last year’s crucial vote for the LLRC knowing well it will fail was a clever trick by India. This year’s trick was even more clever.
But over time this trickery will not fool everyone every time.

International inquiries on to Indian internals is only around the corner and unavoidable sooner or later.

Just imagine India with a 5000 year history, feeding One Billion people (1,000 million) each and every day is mind boggling.

            Please excuse India my friend.

Compared to most other countries, America is the freest country in the world.

Just because you have an axe to grind against American foreign policy, does not mean one has to blatantly lie about life in the US.

America is soo un-free that most everyone in the world wants to emigrate to the US.

How can you say blacks in USA are not free when the current President is black. Can you imagine a Tamil becoming the President of Sri Lanka?
Very soon you will have a president of Indian or Mexican origin.

Surely donkey folks will vote UPFA just misunderstanding this. We know about our folks. They are easy targets of mahinda tricks.
Nation´s Pingona will address the nation through TV/Radio not respecting any forms of election regulations. This was basically plan by Pingona, that is the reason him to hold the elections on the 29th March.

      • 2
        2

Your pingona was so close to give the north and east to Prabakaran like a pussy just because all UNP leaders before him were killed by the tamil terrorists.

Unlike you illiterate naive fool people know that current government is the one standing in the way of Tamil Eelam.

Meeharakas of your kind are plenty so we have to wait until a lession is learnt to you all by Pingona. Had pingona better strategies, he could have won several more countries to get voted with NO for the resolution:
Actually, this was clear to us many for long ago, knowing the facts and figures today related to foreign offices. Go to Washington,Berlin,UK, Australia, Italy, The netherlands, I have myself seen things going upside down in each of offices just because lack of skilled personnels in right positions. Top to the bottom their administration have appointed guys of zero qualifications. How can a former tea business man bring diplomatic arguments fit with their counterparts ? Dayan Jayathilaka made this very clear on his return to the country at teh begining of 2013. There everyone would agree with him, though his critiques excludes to MR. He said nowadays only their men are appointed to those foreign offices not even thinking about the danger before the nation. How can former army/navy/airforce men know better keep good diplomatic relations ?
Pingona´s brain should be analysed by BMJ if his strategies are the best.

Other examples taking it from the country national carrier, CBK earned the country billions, but today, two figure billions are loss alone that company, just because Pingona´s brother´s in law mismanagement. Whose funds are being abused in this way ?
Are these Rajapaskhe family assets ? These are outcome when social scum have become the leaders of the nation.

            Yes very true.

I heard cosmetic lady of the day recently held a speech to a gathering, I thought the lady was down with asthma – atleast-on that moment. So these buggers and the ones close them have no basis. Nothing, so the result should be obvious.

It was just malevolent interpretation that RW or any other leaders could let the country divide. Malevolence is given highest priority under the current administration. Even worst are in state media (press, electronic)today, due to lack of law and order in the country. Horuth ewunge, naduth ewunge. So opposition is seen as no recourse. Anyway, you and the ilk make this for pitty political advatages: but as it is common knowledge to anyone, no lanken born citizen would EVER agree with any kind of divisions and gone to pieces. There are diverse kind of blatant lies are being spread about UNP, JVP and youngest Party of SF.

The GoSL may spin it by saying that South Korea is the only Asian country to support the resolution, and most Asian countries abstained.
But ensuring human rights is a universal value, not a Western value. Asian regimes can no longer hide behind some mystical cover of ‘Asian values’ to deny the human rights of their peoples.

    • 2
      2

the human rights these countries are talking is a WESTERN VALUE. Their human rights a re double sided sword.

See how Iraqian, Iranian, Afghan, Syrian, Libyan, Egyptian, Cuban ……… and North Korean people are suffering because their govts do not respect the western values.

That hack G.L. Peiris is already trying to paint this resolution as a defeat for America . He does this by counting the abstentations as being against the resolution.

All of those countries supporting GOSL are scared they will have to answer for their own human rights violations so this is a you-scratch-my-back-I-scrath-your-back deal .

I always support in every effort for reconciliation and justice. If someone has done something wrong or violate anyone’s right to live as a peaceful person is upheld. But I am deeply saddened today by looking at UNHRC newly worded resolution and intentions. It will lead to somewhere we cannot even think in some day. This has happened because of Rajapaksa foolishness and madness! Please leave this country alone!

    • 7
      1

This has happened because GOSL is trying to accomplish what they started decades ago, namely to gradually destroy Tamils as an ethnic group. GOSL’s plans for Tamils had to be postponed during the war years, but now that they fully control the Tamil areas, they can finish what they started.

      Sapumal,

“But I am deeply saddened today by looking at UNHRC newly worded resolution and intentions.”

If GOSL has not done anything wrong & if there is nothing to hide – Why deep sadness????

“Please leave this country alone! “
International community left the country alone for 66years after independence. IC gave all the support to commit war crimes.

If the vote outcome of tomorrow´s would turn out to be not even sending a sign to the barbaric regime, I would not even plan anything for the country. I thought to return after the war is no longer there, but I hate to live in a society where rule of law is questionable, people´s security is not safegaurded.

Take a look at some of the 12 countries that did not support Sri Lanka, USA, UK, France, Germany, Ireland – all of them have the same agenda.

All of them took this stand for the Tamil diaspora living in their countries for political votes and nothing more.

Almost all the countries above are part of G8. The former colonist still expect other countries to play by their rule, the master – servant rule.

    • 2
      2

and all these countries are the ones that destroyed countless countries from Iraq to Vietnam. We should be proud that we could at least pause temporarily the plans of the corrupt western hegemony when we defeated the terrorists. It is a tough road ahead, they may divide this country along racial lines but at-least we should continue to fight with head held high. We should never listen to the brainwashed slaves left behind by the colonists.

And it was the White man that created Sri Lanka. Before European colonialism, there was no unified nation encompassing the entire island.

You Sinhala benefitted from British colonialism as you got handed the Tamil areas on a platter. Now you are whining about Western nations. Such a bunch of hypocrites.

Don’t try to teach us the History of ours which you hate anyway. There was a provincial kingdom by the time Portuguese arrived in north but even trinco was part of the Kandyan Kingdom. and There are plenty of time in our history where the whole island was ruled under one kingdom.

Meeharako, if you are honest to you,
for what purpose our people wasted that collossal sums for CHOGEM circus if not to win the hearts and minds of few of them ?
Here from yesterday´s voting it became clear – not a single state/Europe that took part in CHOGM joined srilanka with “no vote”.

Here the nation´s Pingona´s actions drove us punishing double or more.

Dont get cofused between state and government! The resolution is against the state the people of Sri Lanka of all Ethni groups, not the Jarapassas and stooges! The ruling powers will enjoy power, wealth and facilities in spite of sanctions! If you are for the resolution just because you are not for the Regime then there is a problem. If you are for the regime because you have an agenda to put the UNP in power, it is like cutting your nose to spite your ears. IF YOU WANT SEPARATION OF THE COUNTRY BECAUSE YOU ARE LTTE, THEN YOU MAY BE SUCCESSFUL, BECAUSE YOUR AGENDA OF A WAR BY PROXY IN THE UN MAY WIN!! That may be a dream! US has fought many proxy wars and have hardly won any!!
However if you are against the resolution to save the arses of the regime… there still is a problem. Those who are against the resolution against the people of Sri Lanka but continues to lobby against the government are the true patriots!
I hope CT will also tally the states that ARE NOT FREE THAT VOTED WITH THE US! That is where the truth in journalism is exposed!

The statement to be made by the GOSL,
‘………..If you take the 12 countries that abstained from voting into consideration, technically, we have won by 1 vote!’…. LMFAO

and the average Banda in Sri Lanka is gonna swallow this hook line and sinker and vote for the the ruling party.

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Sinhalese and Tamils are proud of their history and culture and always maintained that equality, justice to all, respect each other. Parents taught us not to tell the lies and not to steal. The literature highlight the rulers should treat each citizen equally and justice should be given irrespective of race, caste or status. Unfortunately, things have changed now against to those values and LIES, THREATS, CORRUPTION, CRIMINALITY, CHEAT have become the norms.

It is sad that some of us defend that we are developing nations and we don’t need to have a proper justice system as in the developed world. It is not about resources, it is not about development level. It is about your mind, your thoughts, your attitude. Our brain system is not different to a person in the West. No one can influence you other than you to stop lie or cheat.

Can there be a change from blaming others and criticize yourself?

Sri Lanka is among the countries in the “rogues gallery” that opposed the resolution. It will remain there until this satan Rajapaksa and his family bandits are dethroned. How one man has single handedly destroyed the reputation of the country and it’s people? Most of the blame must go to the gullible or selfish and uncaring Sinhala masses.

    • 6

” Most of the blame must go to the gullible or selfish and uncaring Sinhala masses”

The Sinhala masses supported Rajapaksa because he was destroying Tamils.
As long as the Sinhala government was turning the screw on the Tamils the Sinhala street were fine with it; one of the protesters in Weliweriya mentioned that they the patriotic common Sinhalese donated blood to the soldiers and supported them during the war and yet now the Army is attacking them.

J R Jayawardene said that Sinhalese would be happy if he starved the Tamils.

  • 6

Ofcourse while the GOSL will spew vitriol against the Western nations for pushing this resolution, Sinhalese would jump at the opportunity to live in the West, especially America. Just look at Gota and Basil, both US citizens or Green Card holders.

It just shows that the free countries are made of humbugs and hypocrites, and they are encouraging China to remain as a freedom suppressed country? I have not heard of such a load of bull shitters!

So, we have six dictatorships Saudi Arabia, UAE, Cuba, China, Vietnam and Putin Land which has sham elections supporting us. We also have one unstable mess on our side (CONGO). The rest of the supporters are Algeria (struggling to become democratic), Pakistan (Tottering), Venezuela, Maldives and Kenya. We have a great future as the Mahasona himself loves to say. By the way the abstainers are not supporters. They are our former allies who cannot stand to be our allies anymore.

No – what u see is whole of asia ,Middle east, Russia and half of Africa against the west- why south America went with US no one knows(except for cuba and venuzuvela). I think we could have convinced Ireland if we had a better gov in place, from their statement u could see they understand what SL is going thr. Everyone shld listen to Pakistan ambassador’s speech, he really articulates the double standards of US whilst killing/ torturing civilians in Pakistan with impunity US dares to preach to another country.

Not a single Muslim Country voted against Sri Lanka in Geneva depiste Muslims in this country live in fear everyday of uncertainity of the Mosques, Property and Business.
BBS and the Defence Secreatry with their very short sight of the future and and their own selfish existance in the power, let the Singhalese people to suffer for many, many generation…..
I have absolutely no problem to believe that GoSL committed Human Rights abuses durning the war and after the war and even today the trend continues….

All the countries who voted for SriLanka did so not because they loved SriLanka but because they hate the US and Europe. China,Russia,Pakistan,Saudi Arabia are all countries which cannot even spell DEMOCRACY. Human right violations are rampant in these countries.
India abstained because they have a similar problem in Kashmir.
I cannot believe that Srilanka dwells in the false hope that these countries support us.

Those countries do harm to anyone. Last excution of a lanken was few weeks ago. So their defnition of human rights has lot to do with divine powers (sharia law), alas, paradoxially, they the men that are on raping mode of any poor servants to escape their laws – is inhuman. There is no other options that the govt has to take actions not to send unskilled maids to those destinations. I have met arabs in europe, even come with their jokes how they abused their house maids coming from South asia and philiphines. For them, they were jokes but for me it was a hatred – against harm of one of our nation.

The voting tells a story of what is happening in the world. No point in looking at the number of votes involved, better to look at how the big countries voted and try to glean from that in which direction the wind is blowing especially for tiny srilanka.

    1. Obviously the most important country is the US.Srilanka has decided to arrogantly disregard the US representative Blake’s advice to mahinda at one time to fully implement the LLRC recommendations and is now paying the penalty for it.s long as mahinda has the LLRC report like a hot potato on his lap,the relentless pressure by the US will continue.

    2. The next most important country is the EU.Why i call it a country is because all the countries in it are now speaking with one voice on all important international issues. The EU will be interested in bringing srilanka into its sphere of influence.Once a colony always a colony in the mindset of colonial powers. However they would have decided to let go of india and indonesia because they are too big to handle and control effectively now,but all the other former colonies are on their watch.

3.The consolation for srilanka is china, but it is not sufficient to counter the combined weight of the US and EU which are increasingly closing ranks together on most international issues and are allies.

4.To counter the US and EU srilanka needs the other asian giants India and japan.Unfortunately Srilanka screwed up very badly by not implementing the 13th amendment fully and as a result making manmohan singh angry. The abstention of india should not be considered as a victory by srilanka because it is just a last hurrah by a government that will fade from the scene in May.Srilanka is in for a tough time with the BJP.I don’t think even the full implementation of the 13th amendment will satisfy them.

5.As for japan, srilanka has been doing a skillful trapeze act with them, smooching with japan’s deadly enemy china and also allowing japan to refuel their military vessels, but don’t know how long you can have good relations with two guys who hate each other without having to make a choice between one or the other one day.

Tough times are ahead for srilanka.Possible ways to mitigate the effects is to fully implement the LLRC recommendations and the 13th amendment.

That could make the US and India less aggressive against us in the future.Nothing can be done about the EU because their interest is long term bringing srilanka under their orbit of influence like before.
