Unless Lasantha Murder Case Is Solved Accused Could End Up As PM Or President: Lal Wickrematunge

Unless Lasantha Wickrematunge murder case is solved accused could end up as Prime Minister or the President, says murdered Sunday Leader editor Lasantha’s brother Lal Wickrematunge.

We publish below the Message read by Minal Wickrematunge at the 9th year memorial on behalf of Lal:

Nine years have passed since Lasantha Wickrematunge was done to death in the most dastardly fashion. Nine years have passed and justice has not been done. Murder, not restricted to Lasantha but of other journalists were carried out with impunity at a time when apathy reigned amongst the people. At present there is a sense of hopelessness at the manner the present administration is handling investigations.

Should political authorities be guiding murder investigations, one may ask. Some may argue that it is the duty to do so since the very same murders have been used to garner votes at election time. Presently, the murders are conveniently used to remind people of how brutal a regime was when they occurred. But what about bringing the perpetrators to book?

Many such investigations are all but concluded. The need is to arrest the suspects and charge them for murder. Letting time pass by till it is convenient may turn out to be counter productive, as history has evidenced. The last regime was defeated on the backs of those committed journalists who lay down their lives when even those in parliament were quivering before a marauding group in control of every sphere of human activity in our land. Justice need be done not as a favour. Justice need be done to prevent a repetition. Else, they would have died, not for the people but for a chosen few to replace the defeated.

Murder when it is committed by criminals outside of politics are investigated in haste and convictions obtained in a couple of years. Failure to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of Lasantha, could even open the door to the prime suspect or suspects to be elected the President or Prime Minister of our land at a future date. Who knows.

We remember Lasantha who revolutionised the journalistic landscape of Sri Lanka at a time when none dared. He was brave, committed and resolute in his task to eradicate corruption within the halls of government. If the authorities cannot bring justice, let us commit ourselves to perpetuate his name amongst the people on who’s behalf he lay down his life. Lasantha was honoured posthumously by many a prestigious overseas organisation. But that is to be understood. Honour is rarely bestowed outside a singular profession, in Sri Lanka.

I thank all of you who have come each year to pray for the repose of Lasantha’s soul. Let us pray for him.

    Jimmy, the Nutty,

Sure there is a whole list of murders aided and and abetted by MARA/GORA, the MURDEROUS DUO.

    1. Lasantha
    2. Ekneheliyagoda
    3. Wasim Thajudeen
    4. FTZ Protesters
    5. Chilaw Protesters
    6. Aluthgama and Beruwela destruction and killings.
    7. Welikada Prisoners and various other White vanned Murders.

What is important Moron is that these two God Fathers who were in charge of the Citizens of Sri Lanka should be held responsible and kept in prison without allowing a re run of those dark events. That is what is IMPORTANT YOU MORON.

You seem to habitually/conveniently forget the large scale slaughter of innocent civilians in the abattoirs of North and East. Is it because your radar didn’t pick up those mass slaughters on your screen and far away from reality?

This is not the first time you have missed the abattoirs of the North East I am sure this won’t be the last time either.

NV, I am not conveniently forgetting or condoning those killings. All those who died in North and East were human beings and our countrymen too. I always said during the war that these senseless killings will eventually set the mindset of killers to continue their rampage even in South after the war and I was dead right.

Generally, in my comments I always confine to events after the war purely because most of the commentators try to defend the MURDEROUS DUO on the conclusion of the war and try to justify all they did in the name of war.

All I want to drive home is, even after the war ended, MARA/GORA still continued in the same war path killing anyone who came in their path. This needs to stop in all parts of Sri Lanka, North East or South. This is my point. Hope you understand although you may not agree.

Native Vedda – The then UN General Secretary – landed by helicopter in Wanni ….soon after the shelling of the no fire zone…..and was welcomed and garlanded by traumatised Tamil children. The UN Has given a clean chit to the mass murderers , when the international community turn a blind eye to the murders committed by the local politicians ….the politicians dont care about the local opinion of the modaya voters?

        Gonna vadda,
Why should MR be respo5for massacre done by Prabhakaran? Does it gives you some happiness and relieve your pain that Prabhakaran killed fleeing Tamil? He hid behind Tamils to save himself?

If Prabhakaran fellow killed Tamils why should MR be responsible….

In fact MR is the sole reason Tamils can live a normal life. There is no child conscription thanks to MR….in fact Tamils should venerate MR.

      Ansar,

If the killers of 60,000 youngsters including Richard de Zoysa and others can re run for more than 30 times for public office. Why can’t MARA and GORA cannot run for the same?

“If the killers of 60,000 youngsters including Richard de Zoysa and others can re run for more than 30 times for public office. Why can’t MARA and GORA cannot run for the same?”

          So you agreed with Shenali.

If the killers of ??????? young, old and women including Raviraj, Lasantha, and others can re run for many times for public office. Why can’t others ?

Let me jog your memory though you love to depend on selective amnesia.

When first large scale slaughter took place in 1971. Dr Mahinda Rajapaksa was a member of parliament and an active member of SLFP. It was under the weeping widow Siri Mao’s leadership the first post independence organised state massacre took place.

When DIG Udugampola and Green Tigers were hunting down Sinhalese youth in Kandy Dr Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was busy burying corpses in Matale. And the brother Doctor went all the way to Geneva where he found white/west dominated UN and made detailed complaint about Sri Lankan armed forces. Or was he hiding from IPKF? He could have had a quiet word into his brothers ears, stop the slaughter. On the one hand the brother was slaughtering and burying bodies on the other he was championing human rights. What a shame, one to kill and the other to beg protection from the west.

Hindians once found a good abattoir worker in VP. Then they found two abattoir managers in Dr Mahinda and his brother Dr Gota to deal with VP.

Please take a break from carrying padikkam (spittoon) for Shenali.

Shenal, You mean to say all Sri Lankan Buddhist Leaders are killers ?

But last three years no killings or abductions, shall we give the benefit of the doubt to MY3, at least.

His face doesn’t replicate a killer isn’t it, may be a traitor for not prosecuting his party stalwarts, but not a killer. Look at those two faces for a final time, murders written all over their faces.

What to do Shenal, we need to live with the better of two evils, I am sure MY3 is a better evil than two devils in the name of MARA/GORa.

          Ansar,

Killers are killers regardless of his or her religion. And of course the last 3 years went without much hassle. Nothing happened in any sector to be precise.

What are you talking about my good man? How can we judge people by just looking at their faces? We have to judge them by their action but not by their facial expressions.

Mara and Gora did lot of things for Sri Lanka and it’s people. They even garnered the bad rep for doing their duty for the general citizens of this country. I salute them for that and choose them over any current political leader in Sri Lanka.

“Mara and Gora did lot of things for Sri Lanka and it’s people.”

Could you elaborate on what these “lot of things” are.

” They even garnered the bad rep for doing their duty for the general citizens of this country.”

They didn’t have to garner bad reputation they were indeed bad people.

” I salute them for that and choose them over any current political leader in Sri Lanka.”

Good. You have just assured us the country cannot be stopped from hitting the bottom and you are in a small way want to contribute to that.

              NV,

They ended the war and put Sri Lanka on a expanding economy. Isn’t that enough? However, it is bit childish to name call your opponents just because you don’t like them. Come forward with valid facts rather than baseless allegations.

“They ended the war and put Sri Lanka on a expanding economy.)

Don’t be stupid it was Hindians who brought the war to an end. USA did help Hindia a lot.
Above all VP’s contribution to the ending of the war is immeasurable I mean from day one in the early 1970’s to the last day of the war he was the only person who devoted his entire life actively serving his purported enemy the Sinhala/Buddhist state.

Let us have some statistic about expanding economy. Perhaps you meant clan’s economy.
Don’t forget wars also usually have Keynesian effect on the economy, its known as Military Keynesianism. You don’t need to respond to my comment immediately. Check what is meant by Military Keynesianism then start knocking on the keyboard.

                ” Isn’t that enough?”

                You mean what they robbed.

                  Native Veddha,

What did Indians and US do to end this war?

Don’t try to be a big man by using complex words. Furthermore, you can call anything Keynesian if your perspective is biased. I don’t know how a country should be developed without FDI. Do you know?

They robbed what? Are you still daydreaming? Yahapalanaya promised us that they will send Mahinda and clan to the prison once they caught their dealings. But, even after 3 years they couldn’t find the golden horse of the Backingham palace of America.

Shenali, here is the list of what MaRa did during his 10 year reign:

              1. [Edited out] of the families that lost their loved ones due to Premadasa Terror campaign in exchange of your service as a human rights lawyer in 1980s

              2. [Edited out] in villages from down south on the promise of jobs

              3. Stealing $800 million of Tsunami funds through fake NGO called Helping Hambantota set up with assistance from Willie Gamage and depriving poor families of their right to rebuild their lives devastated by Tsunami

              4. Taking 19 billion US dollars as commissions from Chinese government corporations through white elephant useless development projects such as Hambantota Harbour, Airport, and southern expressway

              5. Putting Sri Lanka economy into an endless misery by taking high interest loans from China and pocketing in 40% of that money

              6. Nurturing an unprecedented culture of corruption and political victimization with immunity

              7. Killing and attacking journalists, judges, innocent civilians for 10 years

              8. Appointing an uneducated GoTa as defence head and stealing the credit of ending the 30 year war from SF, the true hero who led the final war against LTTE

              9. Making a synthetic lawyer of an idiotic son who couldn’t even pass his GCE (OL)

              10. Killing the most famous rugby player on behalf of another moron son

Is Lasantha the only journalist killed. What about Richard De Zoysa? What about Cyril Surendra the Dawasa photographer? What about KumarPonnambalam? What about premakeerthi de Alwis
What about Upali Wijewardene? There are many more killed at the behest of Zpremadasa, Ranil, JR. and CHANDRIKA. Lasantha was a well known muck raker and created many enemies for himself.

One should read what Lasantha used to write. He was pro LTTE and was whitewashing their crimes. He supported Norway which is an unpardonable crimes. Those who enjoy the freedom MR brought to SL should not worry about a Lasantha….. in SL thousands of cattle is slaughtered….so who is Lasantha?

Is he some big deal because western diplomats loved him….f lol…
