UNP Is Not A Party Of Thieves – Ranil

“The UNP is not a party of thieves. If there are thieves in the party we will expel them. Allow us to carry out a transparent and investigation,” Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

Speaking at a event organised by UNP members in Hatton to celebrate his 40 years of continuous service as a legislator, Wickremesinghe said: “We are now like America. There are so many investigations against President Trump by the media, Congress and so on. Upon receipt of reports, wrongdoers step down. It is same in England. That is what happening in Sri Lanka, this is not a new thing. We have created an open society. Don’t involve in corruption, they will get caught. Even President Trump and his family is under investigation, If someone done any wrong they will get punished.”

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe

“There was an allegation regarding issuance of Treasury Bonds treasury bond transaction. First, I appointed an interim committee comprising our lawyers. Then, it was referred to the COPE. Though we won the election, we gave the COPE Chairmanship to an opposition MP. We opened it to all. Thereafter, decided to appointed a Presidential Commission. Nobody objected it,” the Prime Minister said.

“Today, the Attorney General summons Ministers and questions them. At that time, the Attorney General was a yes-man of the President. I will tell one thing. We will not cover up fraudsters in the government. This is not a party of fraudsters. If there is any, we will expel him. Yet, let us have a transparent probe.

“Today there are so many investigations that ministers are brought before the Attorney General and are questioned. Was there a situation as such before? Those days, the Attorney General was an acolyte of the president. The Attorney General who questioned was removed from the department or else taken in a white van. Now there is room to question anyone. I’ll tell you one thing, this government will not protect thieves. If anyone found committing frauds, we will act according to probe reports. The UNP is not a party of thieves. If there are thieves in the party we will expel them. Allow us to carry out a transparent and investigation. That’s it,” he said.

The Prime Minister said: “The media in Sri Lanka don’t have any moral right to say that such and such things have happened. Why is that? They had covered up corruption of the previous government. They all went for shopping (Kade). Lankadeepa wen kade, Divaina went kade, Ada paper went kade, Lankbima went kade, Dinamina went kade, Silumina went kade, Derana went kade, tell me who did not went ‘kade’? I can even tell who ate from Temple Trees. Sirasa TV is attacking me every day, but I’ve never gone to burn it.

“Lasantha Wickrematunge who has been trying to expose corruption was killed. What happened to Ekneligoda? He also exposed corruption. At the end he was abducted and killed. What they say now? Not to investigate on the killings of journalists now because it is a threat to the National Security. To coverup their frauds and corruptions, they are attacking us. There wasn’t an open society before. People voted us, because they wanted good governance. We can’ even get the votes of thieves. We have done everything we can. Do not have a doubt about that. We will not shout about what we have done. I have named some media institutions today. I can also name those who are in them but will not do it now.”

      Ranil,

Are you off your frigging mind?

You were hell bent of appointing Mahenderan again and you walked into the CB with Mahendran and tried to thwart Sirisena appointing Kumaraswamy. It’s not as if you didn’t give your best shot to prevent Sirisena appointing Kumaraswamy. You have to cut the bloody crap and explain why you tried to appoint Mahendran again. Either you are complicit in the scam or you are a bloody imbecile that your cronies always take for a ride.

No need for endless damn committees; ask every politician to explain how they acquired so much wealth. Man, in this day and age of terrorism and drug-money-laundering we plebs out here have to explain if we get a sum of money deposited in our bank accounts.

For once in your cowardly spineless life show some bloody courage and prosecute all the crooks of both sides without sheltering any. If need be, allow them to prosecute you and like a suicide-bomber take them all down with you; that’s the greatest service you can do for the nation.

This crap has gone on for far too long now. Talk is cheap. Show some steeled-willed purpose; cut the bloody talk and take action. It’s now or never, pal.

Tell you what, if there is an election tomorrow, Ranil would be drummed out so fast, he wouldn’t have the time to even pack his toothbrush.!

You were chosen Hon Prime Minister, to govern with honour and honesty. In any decent democracy, a right thinking Prime Minister would have prevailed upon the likes of PENTA to resign immediately. All this dilly dallying tells us a great deal about how things happen in government here, don’t they?

In conclusion I am compelled to quote your own school motto in English: Learn or depart.

Then can you tell us why Lanka Hotels and Residencies in Kollupitiya is not being investigated!?

Isn’t Mr. Thirukumar Nadesan involved in this project too!?
#FCID arrested this man but no mention of this project that is bringing in Rajapaksas black money!?

Get #INTERPOL involved if you are unable to expose these illegal projects that are tied to questionable individuals who are not following proper developmental procedures.

It was louded that MIG deal and the man behind that former Prez s cousin should have been arrested by Interpool…… since interpol is informed accordingly.

What happened sofar was nothing tangible… so it seems Interpol is paying a blind eye to lanken issues. Right ? All these are just hearsays I guess.

Is the Pee-Em into stand-up comedy?

We’re not laughing, PM. All the known suspects are taken in for questioning, the evidence is all around, still the culprits roam the Island (the world) free. The wheels of justice grind slowly, but not surely. It looks like ‘forgetfulness’ has become an acceptable defence against serious charges, even murder.

Honourable Prime Minister , I am and ardent supporter of the UNP and you in particular. I am heaterned that you have taken a stance that you will not have rogues in the UNP. However I am repeatedly told that the yahapalanya administration is making more money than what the previous regime made very well knowing that this Gov has only little time left. What is your opinion on this.

We don’t want the Rajapakses back. That is certain. Please make this gov work on the values it was elected for. We the people are tired to see this country being gang raped by politicians of both parties taking turns to satisfy themeselvea at our expense and dignity. Ravi is not the only crook there a few more. Who you need to be eliminated. Wijedasa Rajapakse is an embarrassment to the UNP and you need to deal with him fast. ….. Or else I am afraid you will have to face the consequences. If it fails this time i am afraid your political career will be at stake as well because even people like me will turn away from you

He has C.Y.P.Ram as a new addition to the network of criminals in the UNP!!? Clean up the party and punish these criminals so that the country can develop.

They are setting us up to become another Egypt, Syria or Afghan by their inability/ unwillingness to go after these criminals…

Do they see this disaster ahead but still chose to take us in that direction or are they just like the Rajapaksas who let their foolishness and greed get us into a Chinese debt trap!?

      • 10
        4

Rajapaksas are hard at work to topple and create cracks in the UNP… the UNP is not helping itself in anyway by delaying taking action against the Rajapaksas Criminal network. They are probably working with criminals in the UNP itself to create problems for Prime Minister Ranil…

The remaining educated politicians should get these criminals out of politics soon before they destroy our country and set it on track to end up like Egypt or Syria…

don’t think we are fools just like ravi did.Your arse must be really on fire now to start talking like ravi did thinking we are all imbeciles who don’t know who bribed him with rent and a penthouse.Because of onella’s facebook comments you are coming out with this bullshit.please step down immediately and give a decent man lkie karu to lead the party until next year or so the UNP elections are held at the grassroots level to hosse a new leader. You compare us to a western country but do not realise or don’t want to see that in a western country with all the evidence before the people the PM would have had to resign long ago and by now charged with looting the country and criminal proceeding begun against him. You,mahinda, gota, basil, namal, yositha, cabraal, mahendran, aloysius, ravi, malik and many others would have been in jail if we were truly a western country as yo claim us to be. That is why onella said why only her dad,and that is why you are now all out to hang him.

Ranil, if you find it difficult to choose I will give a list of your party fellows who should not be in the government if you wish for the UNP come to power in 2020.John Ameratunga [ he stinks with corruption and mis-behaviour], Vajira Abeywardene [ he is linked to Avan Garde & other dirty tricks], Harin Fdo[ womaniser, does not know what he is doing], Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa [directly connected to Avan Garde, dis honest, He does not want to get separate courts established to try corrupt Rajapaksa clan their ministers, Sagala Ratnayake [he is influencing the Police under him to do or not to work according to law, P Harison,[he is corrupt to the brim, in regard to paddy purchases and sales and also imported cattle.], Malik Samarawickrema [ he should not have been appointed as a minister at all. a dirty fellow, and is suspected of connected to Bond issue under your guidance], Kiriella [ we do know that he had been given the Ministry of Highways to engage in corruption. He did that with the appointment of his cronies as coordinators with a salary of Rs. 60000/month and vehicles. dirty fellow. Do you know he is unsuitable to be the Chief Government Whip as he cannot talk well when questions are raised by the Opposition], Thewarapperuma from Kalutara is not suited to be a MP.. He is a ruffian, thug and an A class mut.], Jayawikrema Perera and Srinal de Mel are old codgers. They should not be in Parliament. We are not in favour of you either Ranil. Don’t gorget we cannot vote for you or Rajapaksas.

Firstly , promising the country of ‘catching thieves’ at the president
election of My3 was a humbug ! And then , trying to run the whole
show based on that slogan is purely hoodwinking the country in
front of the whole world watching a new bunch of thieves taking their
citizenry on a fresh ride of treasure hunting . Lying like this everyday ,
at a time the country is flooded with cool clever gadgets , these craps
must be real lunatics . There was a time people of villages went to
their cities only once or twice a year for their needs . Now all these
villages are small towns and people are flying to all corners of the
world . In such an epoch , trying to hoodwink them with barely cheap
stupid lies must never be tolerated by any standard ! Why talk about
new thieves while the whole bunch of old thieves are left on their own
to come and sit with you side by side in the parliament ? What I can
smell is , you guys are up to a truly big mischief which could end up in
real anarchy . You guys are playing with people’s intelligence and
patience . What is happening in Venezuela could be a reality soon here
leading to the end of democracy . Thieves won’t catch thieves and they
are only partners in the theft ! Or they become traitors and all end up in
    prison !

No person talks good to the people and practices completely the opposite out of the public eye deserves any respect or regard from the people who are supreme over the all organs of the government. Yet, the truth is that the constituents are always at the receiving end taken for ride by the utterly corrupt and dishonest politicians.
This statement made by RW says a lot about THE duplicity, he said that corrupt elements will be evicted from the party and tough measures will be taken if it is confirmed that anyone attached to the government is involved in corruption.
I invite the concerned citizens to witness the irrefutable first hand evidence of robbing the Nation by two leading Cabinet Minister of the UNP, Laksman Kiriella, and Kabir Hashim over 64 million rupees shared between them. The list publish with this post, is a document now filed in the Supreme Court and it shows names of MPs belong to other political parties as well, who sold their tax-free car permits to embezzle public funds.
With a great difficulty people deposed the utterly corrupt MR who became blind with power and abused the public office to engage in all forms of corruption in an unimaginable scale.
Then MS and RW came to power with a firm pledge made to the people corrupt free good governance. And now they have proved that they are far worse than MR and his thieves.
It is sad and difficult to comprehend why all these politicians (belong political parties including the JVP) continue to deceive and insult the intelligence of the constituents in such a despicable manner, compelling the innocent people of this country to experience all forms of unbearable hardship

This whole episode has become a circus that can only happen in Sri Lanka. This man has admitted that he did not know he was living in a place finance by someone who is under investigation for financial fraud and he did not bother to ask his wife. This is enough for his immediate dismissal. Without, doing his duty the idiot RW is just blabbering his mouth with meaningless statements. While the country is divided on party lines, without any cohesion as a nation demanding action, government knows there is really no pressure, because lot of rogues would not want to create a precedent by passing a no confidence motion to kick out one of their own. This government knows that there won’t be any public outcry about this on the streets such as happening in Venezuela or happened in Egypt. The chances of something like that happening is slim to nil. So they will just ride this out, as they do every other crime.

Dear PM, Ranil W: Think before you speak. Your 40 years in Parliament has taught you nothing but making utterances of stupidity. Just as much as you are dumb, you think the PEOPLE of this country too are dumb. Wake up Mr. PM. Those days are gone. Don’t you really know the “Chief Architect” of this “Bond Scam” is you and your inner circle? Can you honestly tell that you “Did Not Know” of it and “Did Not Try” to sweep it under the carpet? What have you got to say about Rvi K’s answer when questioned on that “undated” and “no reference” letter given at the request of your friend, the then CB Governor Mr. Mahendran? He (Ravi K) mentioned the names of those who were in the “Know” of that letter. Strangely, those mentioned have yet to be called before the Commission. Please KNOW your style of Governance has been and is STINKING. That includes your administration style of the UNP too.

Douglas: Remember Ranil Wickramasinghe said he would create Ten million jobs. Now, 2 and half years gone. He should have created 5 million jobs where are those ?. He said he would create lichchavi-mall king type kingdom. Instead within the first 100 days, he robbed the Central bank. Robbing of the central bank by PResidents had happened even during R Pemadasa and a Tamil has involed in that too. RK was released from the money laundering case on a technical matter and he was not acquitted. That KJudge also retired soon after. Ranil says there are no thieves with him. How come after the CB robbery he appointed Malik Samarawickrama as a minister – a promotion to a party Secretary ow what ever.

“The UNP is not a party of thieves. If there are thieves in the party we will expel them. Allow us to carry out a transparent and investigation,”

Grand words PM, but lets see some action, & fast. You may be in denial but, seriously, if you think there are no thieves in the UNP, & can prove it, I will believe in Santa Claus too. I think, of all the current politicians, you are the better person but my patience is running out & in fact, so far, you have been a great disappointment. Your political career is now at an end but you can still salvage your credibility if you, even at this late stage, start cracking the whip to get your MPs & Ministers to tow the line. Otherwise the corruption just increases exponentially with every govt. in power.

You can start by getting all your party people (the politicians & the cronies) to disclose their wealth since 2010 & that includes the immediate family members. Crack down on nepotism & cronyism in Govt, how many in high Govt. posts have the relevant education? Stop all privileges & perks, such as duty free car permits, enjoyed exclusively by politicians (set an example by getting your people to do it voluntarily if you can’t do it legally). If you can do all that, my son, we can be proud of you (with apologies to a British commercial)

Of course, by pruning the bad growth, the party may die with no one remaining but I am sure it can rise from the ashes, hopefully, with a new set of capable & honorable people. At least we will know that you tried & you will not go down in history as just another ineffective & gutless politician who did so little.

Ranil Wickramsinghe is a mental patient. I think the guy worked under R Pemadasa, probably his name is PAskaralingam. As soon this govt won, PAskaralingam had come to Sri lanka, that is even before the 100 day govt and now he is working for Ranil. He is said to have houses both in england and in austrlia, All bought from Treaury money and bought for his children. So, this Central bank robberies are not new. Every presdent do this. Ranil stole from EPF and got caught. Now he is covering it up.

      Jim

For once, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Corruption has always been there but you will have to admit that it increased exponentially with the previous regime.

Premadasa allowed Paskeralingam to siphon money from the treasury. He paid Ravi Wethasingha for ghost CTB buses (LATEC) & both fled abroad. Paskerlingam’s defense lawyer was Marapona, who has told a primary witness of that case, a foreign national who I knew quite well, that he will drag the case until such time the foreign national will be called back at the end of his contract & I am sure he succeeded because the case just fizzled out. Paskerlingam in the 1990s bought all the BP petrol franchises in London & employed Tamil refugees illegally (some allegedly were involved in credit card cloning). Now he is apparently back in SL & if I remember correctly, Ravi Wethasingha (who had an international arrest warrant some time ago if I am not mistaken) was also back during CBK’s time. So corruption, as with all third world countries, has been rampant, whatever the Govt. in power but at this rate, SL will soon be another failed state, if not already. I sincerely hope that SL wont end up as another Zimbabwe, South Africa or similar African or South American country.

    Thrisu (on page 1)

What Sri Lanka needs is a breath of fresh air. Someone new who has his own political ideals and vision should step forward to save the country from politicians.

All hypocritical UNP/SLFP/UPFA/JVP/TNA are spent forces loathed by masses. The present lot representing all parties in the Parliament are super examples of double-facedness who only do lip-service to common people.

All these politicians are rigid plastics and cans to the country who needed to be recycled at the next election as they now have only scrap value which is also at the lowest level.

Recycling these politicians is really necessary to protect national assets, conserve natural resources and achieve sustainable development to Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said, “The UNP is not a party of thieves. If there are thieves in the party we will expel them…………..”
Prove it Ranil. You missed several chances. Consider this final chance.
Ranil goes on, “………………Allow us to carry out a transparent and investigation”
    Exactly what we want Ranil!
Why not send RK on leave and fast-tract investigation. Surely you should have learned something from the Bond episode – the longer one waits, the thicker the soup gets!

Mr. Prime Minister, UNP is not only a party for thieves, but for drug dealers, too.

Both the former and present Finance Ministers are linked to drugs dealers. It was during former Finance/present Foreign Minister’s time, cocaine started coming openly in containers in mega scale. Even Colombian drug mafia doesn’t enjoy such privileges, luxury and courtesy.

Now, former Foreign/present Finance Minister’s personal staff is involved in drug dealings.

Mr. Prime Minister, when the leader of a party is not honest and engage in high profile heist, this is the outcome. Example is more powerful than precept for good or bad.

Mr. Prime Minister, thanks to your “leadership/dealership,” your entire UNP party is in the crab bucket now!

A bucket full of crabs is what you left after 23 years (1994-2017) of your crab leadership!

To be fair, I must add that we didn’t see any ‘killer crabs’ in your bucket during the last 2 1/2 years.

However, yours and your subject Ministers’ negligence and inefficiency killed a record number of people during this time from dengue, crime group activities, and natural and man-made disasters.

In UNP Ranil is the major thief. He robbed the central bank within the first 100 days. HE tried to cover up it by various means and he could not. “UNP is not a party of thieves!” Then, who is RaviK. Is he a member of the Joint Opposition? Mr. Prime Minister, are you too suffering from amnesia like RaviK? Or do you think Sri Lankans are imbeciles; just like your uncle JR thought?
Let’s rephrase what you have said: “UNP was not a party of thieves before 1977. Correct! Afterwards, with the ‘in-disciplined’ open economy it became a party of thieves, robbers, and criminals. You remember Gonawala Sunil? You may not; but we do.
Today many UNP seniors as well as juniors rob every single rupee and every single $ from public coffers. People have lost their faith completely on this party and I was ashamed to call myself a UNPer when you and RaviK ridiculed the armed forces while MR was trying to finish the LTTE terror campaign.
UNP could not come to power for the last 12 years and the West and India conspired and made them a partner of a unity government. That’s how you grabbed power in 2015. From day one, you and your UNP started the job; let’s take an example. You appointed Arjun Mahendran as the CB governor and let him steal our money in broad daylight through his son-in-law. When the opposition revealed this you denied any wrong doing and covered him up vehemently. It was the UNP members who added foot-notes to the COPE report. It was a UNP minister who wrote a book justifying the Bond Scam. Even the president was mislead until Ven Bellanwila Thero lashed him out at a public meeting for dragging his feet about a presidential commission to investigate the CB scam. Now we see the results. RaviK’s penthouse is just the tip of the iceberg! This is how the UNP has become a party of thieves.
Don’t think you can play games with the public in this 21st century like your uncle JR did in 1977.

In many countries if a politician had to be this humiliated, he would hav steppped down as a respectable person. Ranil, I heard, for his 40 years and 23 years as the party leader, has lost 29 elections. Yet, he hangs on do not quit. Central bank robbery is for borrowing Rs 20 billion, the country lost Rs 59 billion to the perpetual Treasuries. Maithripala Sirisena is num and doe snot know what to talk or what to do. Great leadership as the president.

How come there are expensive commissions funded by the public for these thieves who steal millions from public funds? They are no better than the common pickpocket who at least has poverty as a moral defence. These rich bastards steal from the public and continue to live the high life-from the Bandit Queen to MR, Gota and Basil to Ranil and My3.

They should be tried by the courts for theft or criminal breach of trust. Public will be spared the expense of commissions which have no powers to punish and are mere devices to postpone the eventuality so that the matter gets forgotten. Then, a new politician will arise.

Why don’t the Mahanayakes protect the Sinhala race from these political crooks? Is it because they are very happy with their Benz cars? Everywhere you look, man is vile, the most vile are the politicians (except possibly the dreamy JVP guys with no hope).
