UNP’s Sinhala-Buddhist Majoritarianist Resolution Endorsed By Maithri

President Maithripala Sirisena has endorsed the United National Party’s resolution to safeguard and uphold the Sinhala-Buddhist majoritarianism in the country at the party 70th Anniversary celebrations held in Colombo.

“Today the UNP Passed a resolution that no external foreign force will be allowed to meddle with internal matters of the country which will affect the sovereignty and freedom of the people and that the culture and heritage of the majority Sinhalese people will be enhanced, while also creating an environment conducive for all other communities including Tamils and Muslims to live in,” Sirisena who was the chief guest at the event said yesterday.

The UNP resolution also included that Buddhists will be given the most prominent place while the minority communities too will have the freedom to conduct their religious activities without any problem.

Both Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also came together to assure the public that Sri Lanka’s sovereignty will remain unharmed, while assuring that they will create a country where all communities can live together.

Wickremesinghe said that the UNP was a patriotic party, and so was he and the UNP will not take any action that will reflect negatively on the country’s sovereignty.

“We will never do anything treacherous. I have never signed agreements with the LTTE to secure my victory. I would rather lose an election than do something like that. Today, some people who signed agreements with the LTTE are calling themselves patriots, while we are being labeled as traitors,”
Wickremesinghe, who is also the leader of the UNP said.

He called on everyone to rid their archaic mindset and unite to help take the country forward. “Let us create a country where everyone can live in democracy, without worrying,” he said.

Wickremesinghe also pledged to rid the country’s off its debt trap by 2020, left during former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s regime. “We won’t burden our next generation with this debt, we will pay off this debt during our generation,” he said.

He also announced that beginning January, the government will launch a new 500,000 housing project to provide new houses for the families displaced by the war, families living in plantation areas as well as for families living in slums.

President Sirisena said that both he and Wickremesinghe have joined hands to build a better country which will benefit all the people, while maintaining the democracy and sovereignty of the nation.

“Both the UNP and the SLFP have a similar ideology and that is to develop the country while ensuring that the country’s sovereignty and unity remained intact,” he said.
He said that the new Constitution will be drafted in a manner acceptable to all including the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. “But, some people are spreading false information about this, including certain media organisations. I request them to stop misleading the public by publishing false stories. What you are doing is a national crime,” Sirisena said.

“We came to power to build and develop a better country, and we will ensure this will be done while maintaining the integrity of our nation. We will also work in a manner so that the country will not return to an era of conflict,” Sirisena added.

A notable attendee at the event was former President Chandrika Kumaratunga. The event which commenced with the singing of the national anthem in Sinhala, concluded with the national anthem being sung in Tamil.

Tamil Reconciliation is a joke. They have told in advance, that war crimes claims by them become a farce if they were given the federal solution.

Even now, Everything they do is to make the south a Multi-ethnic, multi religious area which they call a democratic country while North become monoethnic both by Tamil language and by Indian culture which they call tamil culture.

Muslims and christian church is doing the same thing. they are opening churches and mosques every where. On ther other hand, East become completely saudi arabian small towns.

It is the west agenda to create disharmoney among ethnic groups and create shanti countries in the world. That make their rule all over the world unchallenged. West has that plan for Sri lanka, burma and thailand. I think Iran, and Pakistan are the next countries in their plan.

With resepct to sri lanka, when immigrents are moved to north america they become integrated or assimilated.

No where in the world, Immigrants are asking to change how the majority live or their culture and civilization because that is how the minority wants it. Successive Sri lankan govts are working in the same mentality and they have neglected the majority for too long.

At present, Mangala samraweera is is a weakiling not suitable for foreign minister and is no where close to the famous foreign minister Mr. Kadiragamar. CBK’s help to the yahapalana govt is a disaster. Only way to explain her behaviour is she is making her children’s life in England happy among Tamils living htere. either she or her son who criticizes sri lanka does not know about Sinhala culture or civilization.

At present, SLFP can not do anything because CBK is doing her agenda and Joint opposition is the ones who wanted to bomb temples, and take over monks’s duties because they wanted to control monks. Joint opposition right now is busy protecting their butts as they lose their fortunes.

Ranil is not born buddhist and everyone around him is in the predicament. most ministers are athiests because that make them acceptable to every voter.

So, Sri lanka needs a complete overhaul.

All this harping on SInhala Buddhism is an insult to what the Buddha who was NOT a Sinhala Buddhist, taught!

Sakyamuni Buddha did not kill people in the name of “protecting Buddhism” or the 4 Noble Truths.
It is a joke to say that Sinhala politicians, majority of who are corrupt and criminal can ‘protect Buddhism in blood stained Sri Lanka where there are war criminals in running amok!

The Buddhist monks of Sri Lanka who rag stuents in universities and generally running amok and over eat till they get sick and a too fat and slothful are JO-ke, like Joint Opposition

Buddhism is corrupt in the Sri Lanka – miracle of modayas!Buddhism in Sri Lanka is an insult to the Buddha Sakayamuni.

Fear of Mahinda Jarapassa is surely eating the brains of Sira-Ranil Ayahapalanaya Govt. who have not convicted a single CORRUPT Jarapassa stooge or family member for Financial Crimes.

      People are FED UP!

So now Rani-Sira A-yahapalanaye clowns want to have a “well mannered society” and teach people politeness! What bloody nonsense.

What Sri Lanka needs today is ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY and a POLICY for Equal Opportunities for all, particularly equal opportunities for Tamil minority and women, who are underrepresented in all Govt. institutions at leadership levels.

We need the institutionalization of a CULTURE OF MERITOCRACY and PROFESSIONALISM, up rooting corruption, croniyism and nepotism, and respect for and valuing Cultural Diversity and prosecuting all criminal and corrupt politicians.
We do not need a Ministry for Good Manners! If at all, it is the corrupt politicians who drive around in SUVs in convoys and push civilians off the road who need to be taught manners!

What happened to Shiranthi’s corrupt brother who mortgaged Sri Lankan Airlines – the bugger, a womanizing planter and crook should be behind bars for the massive debt that the Lankan tax payers have to pay to keep Sri lankan flying..

And what happened to all the off shore bank account and Panama Papers investigations? Why is Ranil not getting help from World Bank and IMF to have the funds returned to pay off the massive national debt?

      You surprise me.

      I do agree with you.

This is the reality, to be in power, major parties in SL have got to do what pleases majority most. People, even from majority, haven’t asked for a resolution of this kind at this juncture. But, politicians do not rest, they keep working on some divisive polities as they knew keeping the racial tension between the races will pay them attractive dividend at the poll. SO, it has been a race between the major parties who could shaft the minorities worse than the other. Doesn’t matter whether you were put in power by the minority.

Since 1948, we saw each party coming to the power doing its share of damage to the minorities alternately, but this time what we see is joining hands, both parties doing it together. Joining hands, I thought they would do something extra ordinary that SL hasn’t seen before in terms of building bridge amongst the races, but am disappointed. In plain, what UNP say is regardless of what we have been saying in the UN, there wont be any war crime investigation of any sort, yet unlike in MR times, we would keep the West also in our side by keeping them happy through diplomacy.

This is a county for Jim softy, although he and I have a vote each, major parties are after his vote than mine, which doesn’t make me feel equal. And, the resolution brought by UNP will only help widen the gap even further. Now, over to Mahinda to bring forward a resolution matching that brought by UNP, or go beyond, through SLFP and see how Maithiri rejects to it.

Whoever whatever being said and done – right at the moment if we the nation to achieve all kind of peace and harmony, the pictures that we need to send across the globe is that we the people more focus on consensual politics. That the UNP and SLFP leadership of the day have been been doing. That is accetable by any kind of ones with sanity.

Let Rajakashes and his men to interepret it according to them. We must not widen the gap between party memebers, we have to prove the nation and world all that we are a folk, we can work together for a common goal.

We must be against only for corruption, high crimes, and the like anything and everything that the nation is dragged to all fall. The very example set by last term of previous regime – we must not underestimate – they the name of development projects, did and left a greater harm to lanken Economy, PEOPLE and all.

On the 8th Sep we the right thinking people of this country got to see, that lanken high courts can work serving justice- Duminda Silva most known provable drug kin pin was convicted with death penalty.. this was the day, I felt…. some sorta of justice since 8th Jan 2015 changed the system guided by Mahinda Rajapakshe

Sinhala Buddhists are not ready for separation of Religion and State yet.

Playing to the audience. The Majority Sinhala-Buddhist are not fully ready yet, but Rome was not built in a day, but they are making a little progress here and there. Does it mean that the Sinhala “Buddhist” monks can still rape boys and girls with impunity?

It took the Ottoman Empire 500 years to be transformed to Secular Turkey, in 1924 with separation of Religion and State. US did it, but not UK.

Read this carefully and please refrain from giving your interpretation:

“He also announced that beginning January, the government will launch a new 500,000 housing project to provide new houses for the families displaced by the war, families living in plantation areas as well as for families living in slums.”

By the way do you know anything about,

    sovereignty and freedom

culture and heritage of the majority Sinhalese people

“He said that the new Constitution will be drafted in a manner acceptable to all including the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims”

Is Sirisena already going against the UNP resolution?

      Dear Native,

I interpret this as the inaugural speech of the new Party of Bodhi Sira and Whiskey Madam.

Which is going to be the SUNFP….. Sri Lanka Eksath Jathika Nidahas Pakshaya. or Srilanka United National Freedom Party for the benefit of the Elite , Anglicans and the Vellalas who don’t understand Sinhala…

The last lot did a fantastic job too, to give the biggest ovation Bodhi Sira got since he launched Batalanada’s Yahapalanaya…

Now the Dalits can carry on with their real SLFP , which Whiskey Madam’s loving papa sacrificed his life to form and protect to give Dalits a fair go..

The question is whether the constitution will still be implemented if
the minorities object to clauses in the constitution like what happened
when it was introduced by JRJ or take the time required to work out a constitution that will be accepted by all communities,as all citizens of the country are very serious this time that a perfect constitution is formulated to satisfy all communities, that will not be shredded as and when Govt. changes.
It is also reported in this article that the National anthem was sunk in Sinhala when the event commenced and concluded with N.A. sung in Tamil. The attendees, specially in public meetings, wait for the last speaker to commence his speech, who normally not the main speaker, to run away from the arena to catch the bus or train to reach home early and they are not going to stand in attention until the N.A is sung in Tamil, which could be a pre recorded one. As every one knows, the people should stand in attention when N.A is sung as a mark of respect to the country one live in.

Suggest that N.A sung in Tamil should follow the Sinhala version so
that due respect is given to the largest minority in the country.

    • 11
      1

You are correct the national anthem should have been sung in both languages at the beginning and at the end. A verse in each language. Singing the national anthem in Tamil is like an afterthought to hoodwink the world and everyone. Basically they are stating Sinhalese is only important and will be given prominence for all the ceremonies by singing the national anthem only in Sinhalese instead of both languages. Tamil is just an after thought and of no importance so the national anthem will be sung in Tamil during the closing ceremony as no will be there, people in a hurry to get away like the end of a show and will not give any respect. This is also done to hoodwink the world and the 25% Tamil speakers in the island. After all they have stated it is Sinhalese and Buddhism that will be given pride of place. Good give Sinhalese and Buddhism pride of place in the south but not in the north and east. We want the north and east to remain secular with the culture of all Tamil speakers living there given pride of place. Sinhalese and Buddhism are not native to these areas and have never been pride of place there. It was Tamil and Saivaism that was given pride of place.

Bodhi Sira enjoyed a free Milk Rice feed and betrayed the great majority of the inhabitants to the UNP, to please the Diaspora, West and Bunky Moon.

Now he is talking bullshit, trying to force the great majority to bend over to Batalanada Ranil, to fulfil his MOU with TNA leader Vellala Sambandan.

In order for Batalanada Ranil and Magala Samare to establish War Crime Trials and punish the War Heroes.

And pass the Federal Eelaam constitution with the help of the 40 Blue kakkas, whom Bodhi Sira leased to Batalanada Ranil.

    It may happen in Kotte,

But it won’t be through a referendum, even if Bodhi Sira , Batalanda Ranil and Whisky Madam come to South and embrace each other on stage in Western Style.

I think its an unfortunate title. The USA has white majority English democracy. They have bastardized their minorities since inception. They only lifted Aparthied completely in the 60s.

On the other hand Sri Lanka treats is minorities well. Its the only country that treated Tamils better than they were treated in their homeland – Tamil Nadu.

Although unlike the white Majority USA the mistake Sri Lanka makes is that it asserts the Sinhala Buddhist majority-ness explicitly.

For example, USA does not declare English explicitly as their main language. Although implicitly that’s what they do anyway.

Sri Lanka asserts majority-ness making it easy so that rocks can be thrown against it. What Sri Lanka should do is to keep it implicit.

Eelam and not Tamil Nadu is the homeland of the indigenous Tamils. Like most Sinhalese extremist do not try to re write history by stating if you want Tamil go to Tamil Nadu. Ironically DNA has proved that Tamil Nadu is the homeland most of the island’s Sinhalese and not Tamils. Your surname is De Silva which means you belong to the Sinhalese Salagama community who are solely descended from low caste Tamil indentured/slave labour who were imported into the island by the Dutch colonials to work in the huge southern cinnamon estates. This is the story of almost 50-60% of the present day so called Sinhalese many of whom like you are beating the anti Tamil drum. Solely descended from largely low caste immigrants from Tamil Nadu brought into the island by the Dutch and Portuguese. Now taken on Sinhalese identity and beating the anti Tamil drum against the indigenous Tamils from the north and east who have lived there 2300 years or more. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones at other. Better read your own family history first and return to Tamil Nadu to visit your third and fourth cousins there.

        8

I thought by now this nonsense has ended. There are no “indigenous Tamils”.

The only reason Tamils have so many problems here is because Tamils are an introduced culture and they find it hard to fit in.

        /*

Sinhalese Salagama community who are solely descended from low caste Tamil

        */

“Salagama” is a proper Sinhala word.

In fact Salagama cannot even be written in Tamil. If Salgama was Tamilised it would become “Celkama” or something along those lines.

So I cannot imagine Salagama has anything to do with Tamils.

          Dear DeSilva,
Here is the explanation of Salagama:

“The Salagamas believe that their ancestors arrived in Sri Lanka from the Indian village of Saligramam, although the Moor community of Beruwala believes that they came from Saliya Mangalam or Saliya Pattanam in Kerala,[citation needed] However, it is more likely that the name ‘Salagama’ derived from Sallaggama, a village, which was granted as a fief to the Totagamuwa vihara”
Nothing to be ashamed of, I believe. Caste is all in (other people’s) minds.

            9

            Hello Old Codger,

I thought after I tell you its a Sinhala word – that would be enough! it appears not.

The way it works is you qualify your statement with a proper citation. See it says “citation” there? Now, run along and bring me that reference.

        • 1
          5

Instead of quibbling about origins, check the vaasagama of each Salagama name, and most of them arrived in the Dutch period. So what?

Reference to caste is in bad taste.

          • 7
            1

Reference to this nasty racist man’s caste and actual origins is not in bad taste in this instance, as Siva Sankaran has not stated anything derogatory about his caste or his origin, but only highlighting and brought to notice of the recent Tamil origin of the vast majority of the so called present day Sinhalese, many of whom, like this horrible man forget their own recent Tamil origins from India and demand all Tamils in the island should be deported to India, if they claim for their just rights, including the ones who have been living in the island for 2300 years or more. Much more longer than this man’s recently Sinhalised Tamil ancestors. Ironically the very same state from where this man’s Tamil ancestors were imported by the Dutch.

The Salagama did not arrive from Kerala but from Tamil Nadu. The Dutch imported them from the Coramandel coast and not from the Malabar coast. Either way during this era Kerala also spoke a form of Tamil.

If this comment had come from someone else you would have not taken exception, just because the comment was made by Siva Sankaran a Brahmin you took exception. Shows that you also casteist and discriminate. You are a well known Sinhalese bootlicker and appeaser, so I will not say anymore.

I find it strange that you found Siva Sankaran’s reply sarcastically highlighting this man’s real origin in bad taste but not this man’s racist comment about deporting all Tamils( this included you and your family) to India in bad taste, that was nasty evil and in many countries he would have been charged, especially from a person whose slave ancestors from Tamil Nadu only arrived in the island a few centuries ago to work in the cinnamon estates in the south of the island. You have a strange warped sense of logic.

The former Sri Lankan Minister Colvin R De Silva openly and proudly spoke about his Salagama origin and recent Tamil ancestry, however many of the so called Sinhalese Karawa, Salagama, Durawa, Hunu,Hali, Berewa, ETC do not do that but now go around beating the anti Tamil drum.

Problem in Countries such as Sri Lanka is that on the one hand majority community is scared that the leaders would sell their rights to the minorities while the minorities are scared that they will not have an opportunity to enter the main stream of Countries` activities because of the majority.

In that context, this resolution will cater to the needs and aspirations of all parties. It is a WIN WIN situation for everybody unless people tend to look at it from extremist points of views either communal or religious perspectives.

What is “Sinhala-Buddhist majoritarianism”.That is a fact, and what can we do if there is a Sinhala Budhist majority. Do not create gruops. You can say Sinhala Buddhist, Sinhala Buddhist Kandyan, Sinhala Buddist laow country, Sinhala buddhist Govigama, Karawa etc.
Do not create and instigate segregation. We all are Sri Labkans and most in the country think so.

If you want to give Buddhism prominence, then that is via voluntary behavior modification/education and NOT via laws in the constitution. The tackling of addiction to prostitution, massage parlous, drugs, alcohol, gambling along with the utter lack of compassion, social responsibility, etc among the so called “Sinhala-Buddhists” is how you proceed. You do that via active, aggressive education. Educate the so called “Sinhala-Buddhists” on what the Buddha actually stood for. Unless the one’s who identify themselves as “Buddhists” in SL made an effort to maintain simple discipline (5-precepts) and occasionally go beyond the basic 5 (8/10-precepts), then there is no hope for the so called “Sinhala-Buddhists”. I mean, how many so called “Sinhala-Buddhists” could even correctly state the “Eight Fold Path”?

Like the Sinhalese the Tamils and the Tamil Muslims are indigenous and native to Sri Lanka but Sinhalese are not native to Tamil Nadu or to Saudi Arabia and they have no obligation to give prominence to Sinhalese.
Just because the vast majority of the Sinhalese originated from Tamil Nadu or a large amount of Sinhalese housemaids work in Saudi Arabia does not mean Sinhalese culture should be given prominence there It is still alien.

The Tamil & Muslim people are not Johnny-come-latelys to SL like the Sinhalese in Saudi Arabia. We’ve been a multicultural society for a very long time even if you haven’t noticed or are resistant to it.

I accidentally put a double negative in my earlier blog.

        jim softy dimwit

“then Tamilnadu should promote Sinhala culture and Saudi arabia should promote sinhala culture too.”

I agree with you only in this instance provided you define what Sinhala Culture is. What is it?

In fact Maha Bodhi Society in Chennai does promote and celebrates Vesak in Thamil Nadu. It does conduct lectures, meditation sessions, discussions, …..

But then I shouldn’t be expecting a dimwit to know everything that is happening outside his petty ignorant mind.

I am not sure about medieval middle east kingdoms.

Golden logic of the south again : if Americans can kill Iraqis , then why cant we kill Tamils? But if America guarantees equal rights to its citizens in their constitution, then why should we do the same ????haha

No way, UNP is Sinhala-buddhist majoritarian.

Ranil Wickramsinghe is a former Catholic and his party is no different. All are catholic, christian, Muslims and athiest.

So, this is a misleading article.

Maithripala Sirisena does CBK agenda who is supporting Tamils.

Ranil is a former Catholic ? Another example of active conversion of people of other faiths into Budhism in this country.

  • 6
    0

If Ranil Wicramsinghe is a true Sinhala Buddhist he will not be in this pathetic situation to appease the Sinhala Buddhist at the discomposure of other communities.

If you start appeasing, there will not be an end, you will continue to appease more and more and ultimately there is hardly any room for other communities in this island.

His pro-western, Christian and anti Buddhist image has put him to be in a race with Mahinda Rajapakse as to who is the true Sinhala Buddhist.

UNP had come forward to safeguard and uphold the Sinhala-Buddhist majoritarianism in the country!

Who is this Ranil Wicramasinghe to safeguard and protect?

Why there is a need to safeguard and uphold Sinhala Buddhist majoritanism?

It is a self evident fact, nobody however powerful he may be will be able to challenge this reality.

It is true and a fact the Sinhala Buddhist suffered at the hands of colonial powers.

Who safeguarded and protected Sinhala Budhism at the at time. Were it not the ordinary people?

and was it not restored since 1956. Does the Sinhals Buddhist have any real grievances that need special attention even now?

Are they not confident enough to treat all minority groups in the country as their equals in every respect not only in words, but in deeds as well?

This appeasement is also similar to what happened during the National Government of Dudley Sebnanayake in 1965 when Federal Party and United National party formed a so called national government.

The opposition onslaught at that time compelled the UNP to loose balance and forced them to declare – for instance Poya weekend holidays instead of traditional Saturday- Sunday weekend and subsequently a Sinhala Buddhist government of Mrs Srimavo Bandaranaike Government in 1970 restored the status quo without any back lash from the Sinhala Buddhist.

Mr Ranil Wicramasinghe, if your are honest and sincere and if you are a real Sinhala Buddhist you could always be able to address minority issues much more confidently with the support of Sinhala Buddhist Majority that political solution will be sustainable in the long run.

If you lack confidence and waver, most probably all your good intentions,if you had any, will not bear fruit and the country will aggravate the already strained inter communal relationship.

What we need at this hour is a true Sinhala Buddhist leader to rescue this country from the mess.

The average Sinhala Buddhist is a mature, self confident, liberal personality and he knew that the time has come to deal with the historic grievances of the minorities and to provide space to realize their aspirations in a constructive manner.

    Allow him his space

      Sri.Krish

“Why there is a need to safeguard and uphold Sinhala Buddhist majoritanism?”

It is a sure way of destroying Sinhalese and Buddhism as we have seen through out the sad history of this island.

It is the people who should be responsible for their religion, language and heritage, not the 225 crooks and corrupt state functionaries.

When combined language and religion become toxic coupled with qualification of just being majority has had the effect of 1000 nuclear bombs.

If MS/RW are pandering to the same old noisy minority among the Sinhala speaking people that means only one thing that both have decided to hit the bottom.

    CT,
“President Maithripala Sirisena has endorsed the United National Party’s resolution to safeguard and uphold the Sinhala-Buddhist majoritarianism in the country at the party 70th Anniversary celebrations held in Colombo.”

Is this statement an accurate representation of the resolution or the speeches of the President and the Prime Minister?

The PM in fact gave much credit and profuse thanks to Sir.P,Ramanathan- a Demala – who went to London but ship to plead for the lives of D.S,Senanayake and other Sinhala leaders after the Sinhla-Muslim riots.

    Dr.Rajasingham Narendran

The resolutions and promises made by President and Prime Minister are encouraging but the measures and strategies to achieve them should not put the poor and needy in the lurch. Government should do well to remember the sacred promise they made to the people to come to power, namely to rid the Country of corruption and bring all involved in illegal activities to face the full face of the law without any exceptions. We sadly observe that some politicians and Govt. Officers are still carrying on as if nothing had happened. This situation is slowly but surely contribute to eroding of faith and confidence of the people.
The Govt. should do well to remember that people did not vote them for their
bread and sambol but to usher in an era of truth and justice for all.The issue of duty free vehicles to all mpp. at this time of financial hardships to Govt.is seen as an impunity and some have already sold their permits showing scant respect to Law.If this is the way Govt. is carrying out it’s affairs we are afraid things will become worse before they can get better.

” …. the culture and heritage of the majority Sinhalese people will be enhanced, while also creating an environment conducive for all other communities including Tamils and Muslims to live in,”

Mr Sirisena, are you saying that the Sinhalese will be given prominence while others will be second class citizens? Religion is a personal choice, often born into but ethnicity is not a choice. There are Tamils, Muslims & other minorities who look the same as the Sinhalese, speak Sinhala fluently & differentiated perhaps only by name. Everybody born in SL is a Sri Lankan, so why promote segregation?

You may be playing to the gallery, just like the hypercritical politicians before you but your level of education is not up to the standard of a statesman.

Polkatu hande mita wage mai denage adera(Ranil sa maithree) they will never come right again, they got kerosene oil in their brains.
    ———————————————————————————————————————————————————-

They can endorse whatever they desire , but until they have the stomach to do a Island wide survey with a new Constitution , where, while The majority is the rule like in any country ,a total freedom for the rest be based on a secular system, where no dogma dogs down any citizen is guaranteed , with federalizing and including power and economy sharing and keeping state and religion jealously apart Until then Sri lanka is not going to move even an inc forward.

Today more than ever The English language is vanishing from boards , advertisement , etc, shamefully even among the private organizations . I can only see the endorsement of Bandaranaike’s Sinhala only being loyally implemented by both Ranil and maithree. All I can see is a watered down form of Myanmar bigotry and racism that is been slowly showed down the majority’s throat , there is more racism today than during Mahinda’s time.In Sri Lanka We have Politicians who only know to incite hatred towards the minority to win votes , they just do not have it in them to think out of the box, they always need a bogey man. it is time the educated Sinhala Population put an end to this and unite the people as sri lankan and demand for a new constitution based on power and economy sharing, The educated Sinhalese have a duty upon them to reform the less educated and make them understand all what we need is a nation that has a constitution and a government that guarantees the freedom of every citizen and that the power and economy is equally shared by all the people .

People should refuse to go to polls ,until they have personally studied the constitution ,which should have in it enshrined the guarantee of full freedom of rights of all people along with the introduction of power and economy sharing.
Either we unite as one family or destroy the future of all our children and be held responsible for it.

May Our Nation be blessed with peace and prosperity .

As Ramosa suggested previously America is doing an experiment on Sri Lanka. So far they found out some people in Sri Lanka believe that they came from Lion ancestors.

There appear to no Buddhist monks on the stage and in the audience.
    This is a good sign.
If the new constitution is made a secular one, the nation will progress.

This “Sinhala-Buddhist Majoritarianist Resolution” sounds a lot like S.W.R.D Bandaranayakes “Sinhala only Bill” that Chandrka claims he brought it to give the country back its identity! (seems like it was more to get the votes looking back at it)

CBK – “We only gave the language of the majority its rightful place. We should have given both languages their rightful place,” she said.- (From the daily mirror). She now finally accepts the damage it has done to the country and prevented a unifying culture to prevail! (Instead of just given both languages an equal place move to English as both a unifying meeting point that also works as a vital tool to relate to the rest of the world and become competent global participants).

This government should have realized at least after CBK realization of how damaging this reinforcement of the idea of “Sinhala-Buddhist Majoritarianism” or any majoritarianism has been to the country. It is time politicians stop using this as a tool to get votes and reinforce a dangerous idea in the minds of the people. one that will be sure to stifle the progress of the nation and lead to future problems arising from this flawed thinking.

Sri Lanka should look to europe for inspiration. They are some of the most developed nations with the wellbeing of their people, and preserving and expanding their freedom in a rational humane balanced way given priority.

The dialog and understanding in all areas of study are at the cutting edge in this region before spreading to the rest of the world. these countries have successfully created the ideal environment to create and support these exceptional people who are shaping the modern understanding of our individual, planetary and universal environment.

UNP Leader, Batalanda Ranil promised the Yahapalana suckers that the Government will have no debts to pay by 2020…

That was his main promise on UNP’s 70th..Birth day.

External Debt of the Srilankan Govt was nearly 4 Million Million LKR in 2015,

Singapore Mahendran .borrowed another LKR 600 Billion since the Yahaplnya kicked in.

Together, that is a wopping 40600 Billion LKR loan to pay off in just 3 years.to fulfil Batalanada’s promise.

Even if Batalanada starts QE, even our Vesak Card Printers would not be able to complete that order in three years.

Unless Batalanda hires the Indian Printers, under the ECTA.

The Dalits waving those Green flags in Campbell Place wouldn’t have a clue about what Batalanda said or his QE option.

But what surprises me is how Bodhi Sir’s Blue Hire team sit and listen to Batalanda’s Economics.

You shouldn’t insult our Rajapakse , who saved us from terrorism as Dalits. We all know he is a Dalit, but we shouldn’t insult him. Respect.

The golden logic of the south

The POLITICAL PARTIES FOR THE SINHALESE OR THE PARTIES THAT SINHALA PEOPLE VOTE IN LARGE NUMBERS : UNP / SLFP / JVP

THESE ARE NEITHER BUDDHIST NOR SINHALA . THESE ARE DRIVEN BY PEOPLE WHO PROMOTE SO CALLED NOUN == SRI LANKA / SRI LANKAN.

PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT THE OPPOSITION GROUPS SUCH AS YOUR TAMIL AND MUSLIMS PARTIES ARE FOR THEIR ETHNN-RELIGIOUS GROUPS….

SO HERE IS THE DISPARITY. THERE ARE NO SINHALA-BUDDHIST REPRESENTATIVES IN THIS FIGHT OF WORLD VIEWS AND ETHNOCRACY….

SO THEREFORE , THE LOSER IS SINHALA AND BUDDHIST. THE REASON WE HAVE TO DIFFERENTIATE AND CALL OURSELVES SINHALA-BUDDHIST IS THAT WE HAVE CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW GROUPS AMONG THE SINHALESE.

BEFORE , SINHALA BY DEFINITION WAS BUDDHIST AND/OR NO RELIGION.

THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO REPRESENTATION FOR THE SINHALA PEOPLE THROUGH THE POLITICAL SYSTEM THAT ONLY SUPPORTS SRI LANKAN VIEW, WHILE BEING IMPOTENT AT TACKLING TAMIL , MUSLIM AND OTHER ETHNIC GROUPINGS….

If you take sensus about no of buddhists in the parliament, most sinhala politicians are athiests. that is just for the simple reason of manipulating and exploiting voters.

Only the Muslims, christians and Tamils represent their respective sectors.

All the so-called Sinhala buddhist politicians are athiests. their only god is money and steal from the country.
