US To Give Social Media Training For Sri Lankans

“U.S. Embassy Colombo is proud to announce a new program designed to promote greater understanding of social media, the Social Media Lab.  Accepting applications as of today, January 2, 2014, Social Media Lab will offer free interactive beginner, intermediate and advanced social media training courses at the American Center Colombo” says the US Embassy Colombo.

US Social media training“We have done a number of social media trainings over the past few years, and want to formalize these trainings thorough a system of educating the public on social media best practices,” said Christopher Teal, Director of the American Center.  “Our ultimate goal with the Social Media Lab is to foster a greater understanding among Sri Lankans about social media and to inspire people to engage more effectively online” he further said.

Anyone can register for courses, from January 2 -17, 2014 on the US Embassy Colombo website: http://goo.gl/1Es2sW, and there is no cost to register.  Applications will be reviewed on a first-apply basis, and candidates will be informed by mid-January of upcoming course dates and times.  For more information, please go to http://srilanka.usembassy.gov/sm_lab.html.

    Really , since when did any fool need training on facebook ? probably run by the CIA to pick agents ?

      Good observation.

      This is how they planned the “Arab Spring” in Tunisia, Egypt etc. Though it came to bite them in the back like the Egypt case, they again toppled democracy ther to give power to the Army on the take from the CIA and israel.

      Don’t worry, Sri Lanka intelligence is watching.

    I don’t see the point of this because even 3 wheel drivers I knew were on Facebook or knew of it.

    The people who avail themsevles of the US offer are not going to be illiterate and from the bottom rung of society; these peopel will already be aware of social media and how to access it.
