I feel gamini is correct that the root cause of the problem is the disparity in wealth between the majority and the minority communities.It is happening everywhere for example in malaysia where the malays could not compete with the chinese,in south africa where the whites have to live in walled fortresses.
I believe that to have a harmonious society in this world we have to reduce the gap between the haves and have nots.In Srilanka there is a wide gap and unfortunately quite a few of the majority community fall in the have not category.
This gap has to be reduced in an intelligent manner by looking at the root causes of the gap.Just wrenching from the haves and giving to the have nots will not work because the cake will not get bigger and everyone will suffer ultimately.
For this to take place I think the majority community will have to do a critical self analysis and correct their defects.Also the minority communities should also start thinking of ways and means to get involved with uplifting the poor without living in a detached manner thinking it is not their problem.I do not believe in giving fish to somebody and making them lazy,but I do believe in teaching them how to fish.The minority communities tend to live in a world of their own and forget that there is another world out there.If the tamil and muslim leaders step out of that small world and try to give a helping hand to the sinhalese I think that will be greatly appreciated by them.

Whatever the merits of the allegations against Fashion Bug, the Mob including so called Buddhist priests, (they are not real Buddhists) have broken the law in full view of the world.
