One of his advices to other sovereign nations, never sign an agreement with the USA unless you are very powerful country such as RUSSIA or CHINA. The reason, the USA always takes advantage of it and the smaller nation always lose.

CT Editors – why do you not post anything on the great human tragey unfolding in lanka today – the fisherman killed in the recent storms due to the gross failure and negligence of the relevant institutions – particularly the Disaster Management Ministry – which is a corrupt circus – to issue EARLY WARNING and PREVENT THE TREGEDY? Is it because life in cheap in the Miracle of Asia- after so many wars and state organized killings? The Daily Mirror that is only good to wipe Rajapassa’s ass has been particularly silent. The Minister in charge of disaster managment and early warning and the person in charge of the official weather center should be forced to resign and be held ACCOUNTABLE.
Billions have been spent on all sorts of early warning systems after the 2004 Tsunami and on nuclear warning for the reactors in Tamil Nadu but nothing is done about fisherman’s lives. Billions are spent on the Ministry of Disaster managment for various equipment which pay huge kickbacks for the Minister and his cronies, but there are no skilled and competatnt personnel there. Please CT do a story on this disaster..

      Dude,

Yes. CT need to expose these incidents.

“The Daily Mirror that is only good to wipe Rajapassa’s ass has been particularly silent.”

Daily Mirror and Daily News are shills of Maras and lie blatently.

Are there any Sri Lankan patriots left, other than the Harakas, Jatika Harak Urumata, BBS Harak and Sinhala Harak Ravaya and Maras?

This is about democracy and dictatorship.

These people are against the people.

Those who have nothing to hide and who speaks their mind with respect and responsibility should be willing to sacrifice their online privacy they post intentionally. At the same time social media networks, internet service providers and their respective governments should not abuse/misuse the individual rights of their citizens. As Muslims we are accountable to all our actions to The One who created us. Whether we like it not our digital footprint out in the open. Take care and act with caution.

Every country protects itself against attacks from inside and outside their borders by early detection of threats.
This is the right of any nation.
USA does it by surveillance of news sources – which process may infringe on the rights of persons to keep details of their lives private.

Should a nation’s survival override individual rights?
    This is the question/problem.

Sri lanka has evolved an efficient system – removal of ‘whistleblowers’
by permanent methods – described variously as ‘white vans’,’disappearances’,’abductions’,damage by arson & shootings of news purveyers & their personnel,removal/dismissal of ‘offending’ public servants, threats against & killings of investigative journalists, secret and not so secret removal of documents from state archives in courts, inland revenue offices, auditor general’s department etc.,removal of judicial officers who refuse to ‘toe the line’ by ‘disapproving’ intended legislation, preventing by threats/false information/teargas/water cannon/obstruction/shootings of citizenry who dare protest injustice individually/collectively,keeping reports of mass murder like in prisons,’secret’ and/or as ‘matters of ‘national security”etc.,etc.
Our diplomats are efficient liars abroad and do excellent jobs of ‘whitewashing’ these methods & results therefrom.
USA has to learn from us – but such methods will raise a hue & cry in the free media!

Well done Edward Snowden for showing up America for what it truly is. With an economy that will not recover ever, America is on the hunt for wealth outside it’s borders to secure itself from total collapse. Iraq, Afghanistan, Algeria, Libya, Mali, and now Syria have become their prey. Soon it will turn on Iran and Lebanon. So disgraceful to see Saudi Arabia, Qatar and so many ME countries falling in line to scavenge the benefits of the fallout.

Snowden has done every one a favour by exposing what goes on behind the NSA’s closed doors and what treachery is planned by the American government. The powerful elements in the House and the Senate will prevent any reversal of this policy but at least Snowden, like Julian Assange has exposed the hypocrisy at the risk of his life. At least we know that America has not changed. It is still ugly.

One by one, even the Americans are getting fed up with their own Country for the things they do.
The curse is striking the USA each day with natural disasters and her citizens suffer for the misdeeds of their rulers and the Pentagon.

Very soon, USA too will have to behave like DIG Vaz Gunawardene by threatening the whole world with violence.

Human values first then the rest. Even in this column comments are unethical and disgusting. It is every ones responsibilities to promote ethics and human values regardless of religion and faith. Then only we will have a “peaceful world” targeting each other because of freedom of speech is being misused. I believe all religion and faith are teaching non-violence.
