Vitarana Plays Foolish

Vitarana

Senior Minister Tissa Vitharana yesterday said claims that Human Rights activists in Sri Lanka were being targetted and that their lives were in danger, had been “magnified” he charges of human rights activists being targetted or that their lives are in danger has been blown out of proportion. There are various human rights activists who have been expressing their opinion freely abroad,” he said

He said these people were expressing such views and opinions even when they were in this country and nothing had happened to them. Therefore, there is no substance to this charge, he said. Earlier last week, UN Human Rights chief Navi Pillay warned against any “reprisals’” to human rights activists.
“There have been certain acts of violence directed against certain journalists and other activists. We deplore these acts and the Government will take stern action and prevent such incidents from happening in the future” the Minister said. The Minister also said the gun culture prevailing in the country had largely contributed to these sporadic assaults.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan Foreign Minister GL Peiris has condemned a cabinet colleague for making public threats of violence. He said no-one could condone or justify remarks made by Minster Mervyn Silva, who on Friday threatened to “break the limbs” of those who “betrayed” the country.
“I’m the one who chased Poddala Jayantha out of this country. I am telling you about this incident today. He went because of me,” Mervyn Silva said.

Tissa Vitarana is a disgrace even to what is left of the LSSP. He is a shameless stooge of the Rajapaksas who left Chandrika in a great big hurry when he saw which way the wind was blowing1

Isn’t it time that this jackass was put out to pasture? At least, in the meantime, the media could do us all a favour and NOT give his inanities and LIES publicity that only encourages him to spout more!

When the history of the current period is written Mahinda Rajapakse’s period will be defined, inter alia, by the encouragement he provided to the Vermin – over and over again and against the exasperation of the entire people. This will be studied with the Vermin’s established involvement and control of drug-traffickers, extortionists and Contract killers. What a record for a President to be remembered by
to be complicit in such ghastly crimes against the people.

What else can you expect from him? He was a disaster as Director of Medical Research Institute. Fought with deputy who sued him in courts. He had to finally apologise.

He was a disaster as consultant to Minister Bernard Soysa. When he got appointed as professor, Mr Soysa wished him well and asked Tissa V to take up the professorship as Mr Soysa was waiting for an opportunity to replace Tissa V. But Tissa V said I will keep both positions. Why? If he left the Ministry, he would have to give up the official car! All at the Ministry know about it.

Now he is a disaster to the LSSP!!!

Vitarana asked for it,trying to play the ‘hear no evil’ game. He is one of the Old Left who have betrayed the principles of Liberation of the Proletariat for perks, position & slavish existence.

The criticism of Tissa Vitarana was ignited on this forum due to some remarks he made, where he seemed to have understated the deficiencies in law and order. If one pauses for a second and contemplates the fact that primarily he is playing ‘politician’ (his economic mainstay)it would not be difficult to understand his behaviour, where he draws from his social environment. If he had uttered something more ‘realistic’, would he not escape this criticism? I can’t help remembering the term “the people get the leaders they deserve”…

The bane of Silly Lanka are these “intellectuals”. Unless they make the first move, the Sinhala Voters have NO room for any change in Governance
in the foreseeable future. The curse is upon us which every Mahanayake
will agree – but not speak.
