UPFA coalition member party – Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) and government Minister Champika Ranawaka has said he is ashamed and angered about the present state of affairs in the country and of the multiple chances that were missed by the Rajapaksa regime to change the country’s governance system for the better.
In an interview with the local mainstream Sinhala newspaper, Lankadeepa Ranawaka has pledged they have embarked on a journey to stand up and respond to those who deceived the masses, pointing out that despite the momentous people’s mandate which this government received, the Rajapaksa regime has failed to take concrete steps to do what is best for the country and its people.
“Individuals are not important to us and this government should firstly keep it in their minds. . . This country needs a social, political and economic transformation and we are ready to work with any group that is interested in creating that shift. Even Mahinda Rajapaksa can do it but for that he needs to return to the positions he maintained in 2005,” Ranawaka has stated in the interview adding, “Despite the significant power the present government wields, what have they done? There was plenty of scope to establish the Jana Sabha concept to empower district secretariats and implement changes to the electoral system. But nothing has been done – the government is in a precarious position. . .”
He has gone on to state the government has failed to translate their election triumphs into a political victory.
“The UNP, despite losing the election appears to have won because those who were supporting the government have shifted their support sensing the erosion – the government has lost the support of social groups, entrepreneurs and businessmen who were earlier backing them,” Ranawaka has stated.

This is a clever fellow who is also quite slick. I don’t trust him. He probably sees a chink in the formidable regime armour and is trying to weasel his way in to the side that demonstrates the greatest potential to win at the next hustings. Note that he is keeping his options open by saying: “Even Mahinda Rajapaksa can do it but for that he needs to return to the positions he maintained in 2005”
I will show definite respect for anyone who holds office in the multifarious components of this current regime if he/she resigns on a matter of such principle as is espoused above, declares independence and joins the common opposition to unseat this regime without seeking to collect prime cuts or crumbs from the table as their ‘price’ for doing their duty by the poor, hungry, suffering masses of this thrice blessed land.

Wow, Wow , Wow. Champika Pachawaka’s conversion on the Road to Damascus,
Conversion of Champika Pachawaka – “Jataka” Story Summary. Will Champika Boruwaka change is Shilling for Mara, Mahinda Rajapaksa and the BBS, Sinhala “Buddhist” Terrorists and Mara followers?
http://christianity.about.com/od/biblestorysummaries/a/Conversion-Of-Paul.htm
Conversion of Paul – Bible Story Summary
Scripture References:
Acts 9:1-19; retold in Acts 22:6-21 and Acts 26:12-18.
Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee in Jerusalem after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, swore to wipe out the new Christian church, called The Way. He got letters from the high priest, authorizing him to arrest any followers of Jesus in the city of Damascus.
On the Damascus Road, Saul and his companions were struck down by a blinding light, brighter than the noonday sun. Saul heard a voice say to him:
“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” (Acts 9:4, NIV)
When Saul asked who was speaking to him, the voice replied, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” (Acts 9:5-6, NIV)
The men with Saul heard the sound but did not see the vision of the risen Christ that Saul did. Saul was blinded. They led him by the hand into Damascus to a man named Judas, on Straight Street. For three days Saul was blind and did not eat or drink anything.
Meanwhile, Jesus appeared in a vision to a disciple in Damascus named Ananias and told him to go to Saul. Ananias was afraid because he knew Saul’s reputation as a merciless persecutor of the church.
Jesus repeated his command, explaining that Saul was his chosen instrument to deliver the gospel to the Gentiles, their kings, and the people of Israel. So Ananias found Saul at Judas’ house, praying for help. Ananias laid his hands on Saul, telling him Jesus had sent him to restore his sight and that Saul might be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes and he could see again. He arose and was baptized into the Christian faith. Saul ate, regained his strength, and stayed with the Damascus disciples three days.
Points of Interest From the Conversion of Paul:
• After his conversion, Saul changed his name to Paul.
• The conversion of Paul shows that Jesus himself wanted the gospel to go to the Gentiles and that it was no human being’s idea. That would quash any argument from the early Jewish Christians that the gospel was only for the Jews.
• The men with Saul did not see the risen Jesus, but Saul did. This miraculous message was meant for one person only, Saul.
• Saul witnessed the risen Christ, which fulfilled the qualification for an apostle (Acts 1:21-22). Only those who had seen the risen Christ could testify to his resurrection.
• Jesus did not distinguish between his church and his followers, and himself. Jesus told Saul he had been persecuting him. This serves as a warning that anyone who persecutes Christians or the Christian church is persecuting Christ himself.
• In one moment of fear, enlightenment, and regret, Saul understood that Jesus was indeed the true Messiah, and that he (Saul) had helped murder and imprison innocent people. Saul realized that despite his previous beliefs as a Pharisee, he now knew the truth about God and was obligated to obey him.
• Saul of Tarsus possessed perfect qualifications to be an evangelist for Christ: He was versed in Jewish culture and language, his upbringing in Tarsus made him familiar with the Greek language and culture as well, his training in Jewish theology helped him connect the Old Testament with the gospel, and as a skilled tentmaker he could support himself with that trade.
• When retelling his conversion later to King Agrippa, Paul said Jesus told him, “It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” (Acts 26:14, NIV) A goad was a sharp stick used to control oxen or cattle. Some interpret this as meaning Paul had pangs of conscience when persecuting the church. Others believe Jesus meant that it was futile to try to oppress the church.
• Paul’s life-changing experience on the Damascus Road led to his baptism and instruction in the Christian faith. He became the most determined of the apostles, suffering brutal physical pain, persecution, and finally martyrdom. He revealed his secret of enduring a lifetime of hardship for the gospel: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV)

Between Copernicus publication in 1543, through Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Faucault (Pendulum), a 300 year period, still more that 50% of the inhabitants of the world thought that the Sun goes around the Stationary Earth,
Even today, 25% of Americans and Europeans ( Average IQ 100) and about 40% of the rest believe Still Sun goes around a stationary earth.
So, people need to be educated and informed with facts, in summary form, intermediate form and detailed form. Srill it may not be enough and may take more time.
It 400 years for 75% of the Americans and Europeans to accept that it is the earth that rotates on its own axis and moves around the Sun, like the other planets.
So 1,610 C.E 99.9% Sun Goes Around the Earth
1810 C.E. 50% Sun Goes Around the Earth
2010 C.E. 25% Sun Goes Around the Earth
t 1/2 = 200 years., Therefore,
2210 C.E. 12.5% Sun Goes Around the Earth
2410 C.E. 6.25% Sun Goes Around the Earth
2060 C.E. 3.124% Sun Goes Around the Earth
The answer is blow’n in the wind…

I am always happy to discuss the abilities of people like this fellow. I said he was clever but also slick. They can be mutually exclusive characteristics, like being academically schooled (albeit a plagiarist) and also being totally intellectually dishonest, like G L Pappa. Clever doesn’t mean honest. It means he is smart and slick means he is cunning. He is opportunistic and playing the moral card now, after having stood behind this loathsome regime while the going was good and he had free butter to rub up his arse. Now he senses that there are cracks in the coalition which blackmail, money or threats cannot resolve, so he is embarking on his cunning plan to secure his political future.
This is a good opportunity to say my recent prayer, so please repeat after me:
“May more such rats flee this fast sinking ship
May those who seek to replace them do so with the nation’s interest uppermost
May Sri Lanka be blessed with a secure new constitution which cannot be changed except with the direct will of its people
May Sri Lanka never NEVER AGAIN suffer such disgraceful crooks as the Rajapakses, their relatives, their cronies, their Mervyns, their Dumindas, their Sajins, their Kehelmals, their Rajpals, their shills, their thugs and dirty doers, their rapists, their murderers, their pumpers and dumpers, their land grabbers and their chief CHEAP justice and slimy, crooked CHEAP CB governor again.”

Here is something that you should have learned before you reached the age of 16 years but you didn’t. Not many Sri Lankies knew about South Asia except their unimportant village known to the world as Sri Lanka. Its not your fault as you you know all your teachers must have been either stupid Tamils or stupid Sinhala/Buddhists. Arabs did a marvellous job of transmitting all great inventions from East to West.
Aryabhata and Zero:
Aryabhata I, also called Aryabhata the Elder (born 476, possibly Ashmaka or Kusumapura, India), astronomer and the earliest Indian mathematician whose work and history are available to modern scholars. Known as Aryabhata I or Aryabhata the Elder to distinguish him from a 10th-century Indian mathematician of the same name, he flourished in Kusumapura—near Patalipurta (Patna), then the capital of the Gupta dynasty—where he composed at least two works, Aryabhatiya (c. 499) and the now lost Aryabhatasiddhanta. Aryabhatasiddhanta circulated mainly in the northwest of India and, through the Sāsānian dynasty (224–651) of Iran, had a profound influence on the development of Islamic astronomy. Its contents are preserved to some extent in the works of Varahamihira (flourished c. 550), Bhaskara I (flourished c. 629), Brahmagupta (598–c. 665), and others. It is one of the earliest astronomical works to assign the start of each day to midnight.
Aryabhatiya was particularly popular in South India, where numerous mathematicians over the ensuing millennium wrote commentaries. Written in verse couplets, this work deals with mathematics and astronomy. Following an introduction that contains astronomical tables and Aryabhata’s system of phonemic number notation, the work is characteristically divided into three sections: Ganita (“Mathematics”), Kala-kriya (“Time Calculations”), and Gola (“Sphere”).
In Ganita Aryabhata names the first 10 decimal places and gives algorithms for obtaining square and cubic roots, utilizing the decimal number system. Then he treats geometric measurements—employing 62,832/20,000 (= 3.1416) for π—and develops properties of similar right-angled triangles and of two intersecting circles. Utilizing the Pythagorean theorem, he obtained one of the two methods for constructing his table of sines. He also realized that second-order sine difference is proportional to sine. Mathematical series, quadratic equations, compound interest (involving a quadratic equation), proportions (ratios), and the solution of various linear equations are among the arithmetic and algebraic topics included. Aryabhata’s general solution for linear indeterminate equations, which Bhaskara I called kuttakara (“pulverizer”), consisted of breaking the problem down into new problems with successively smaller coefficients—essentially the Euclidean algorithm and related to the method of continued fractions.
With Kala-kriya Aryabhata turned to astronomy—in particular, treating planetary motion along the ecliptic. The topics include definitions of various units of time, eccentric and epicyclic models of planetary motion (see Hipparchus for earlier Greek models), planetary longitude corrections for different terrestrial locations, and a theory of “lords of the hours and days” (an astrological concept used for determining propitious times for action).
Aryabhatiya ends with spherical astronomy in Gola, where he applied plane trigonometry to spherical geometry by projecting points and lines on the surface of a sphere onto appropriate planes. Topics include prediction of solar and lunar eclipses and an explicit statement that the apparent westward motion of the stars is due to the spherical Earth’s rotation about its axis. Aryabhata also correctly ascribed the luminosity of the Moon and planets to reflected sunlight.
The Indian government named its first satellite Aryabhata (launched 1975) in his honour.

“Never trust racists. Sinhalese, Tamil or Islamic.”
If the country is populated only by racists of varying degree, whom are you going to trust?
I don’t see any difference between a good racist and a bad one.
How does racism rise its ugly head if people are secularists and object to racism being practiced in one way or another?
Check the constitution and you will learn one or two thing about where the fault line lies.
CHAPTER II – BUDDHISM
Buddhism.
9. The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana, while assuring to all religions the rights granted by Articles 10 and 14(1)(e).
Its not state’s responsibility to protect a particular brand of religion. If a religion is going to die let it die. As long as the religion appeals to the people they will definitely preserve it. It shouldn’t be the crooks’s responsibility to protect religion.
When state involves itself in the business of protecting religion from what it perceived to be a threat that is the beginning of the end of the religion as we know it.
Now what we have in this island is Sinhala/Buddhism and not the authentic teaching of Buddha.
State patronage corrupts philosophy, morality, wisdom and destroys a way of life.

The collaborators seem to be sensing defeat for their provider who provided them with power, wealth and positions for the last seven years. Before leaving the sinking ship they are desperately trying to distance themselves from the one that kept them comfortable all these years in order to find acceptance by a party that is most likely to win.
The last few elections showed that the JHU had almost zilch support on its own and is likely to be decimated an any future election if it fights it on its own. The desperation is so great that the two big guns of the JHU, Ranawaka and his saffron clad collaborator, Athuraliya are coming up with all kinds of schemes to endear themselves to the people. 4. WHAT IS YOUR STAND ON THE INTERGRITY OF THE JUDICIARY UNDER MARA regime ? Are proposing corrective measures with immediate effect ?
Do you believe that the forthcoming elections will be free of , violence , vote rigging, and fair counting and transparent ?
Do you think the Pope and Indian PM will make an official visit to SL before the elections ? If you are ashamed of the current state you should honestly answer these questions in the interest of the country.

Oh dear, this racist at every turn try to promote supremacy. Aptly made his head bold. He is not genuine, as a result his Rathana Thero too I am suspicious of. He never talked about supporting 18th ammendment, these racists are for the executive presidency until the last Minority person is marginalized. Yes you are right, the smart Sinhala/buddhist lot is no longer going to fall pray for your agendas or interests. They will speak up decisively in the right direction. Only the narrow mineded lot will stay with you. It may be a lot, but we along with other Sri Lankans will try to make it a better place for every Sri Lankan. This guy is on fire because he has realized now his racist stock is losing its momentum. They can’t jumpship as others are more civilized, and and they have no survival outside, MARA/GOTA racist regime.

Talking with both sides of his mouth?? I guess that depends on where his mouth is?
It took him all these years to figure out the level of corruption, nepotism and thievery? He has to be a bigger idiot than I thought him to be. The same applies to the rest of the JHU,who are singing a different tune these days.
The perennial cynic in me is whispering that these good-for-nothings are trying their best to salvage a face-saving exit from the sinking UFPA ship before they drown in the sewer.

does homosapiens have a mouth with both sides ? What do you mean ?
These men in general are srilanken fundementalists. I thougth we dont have the kind of them, but I shoudl be wrong there. Gommanpila, Ranawaka and the like men are running after their arguments. They are far from real needs that the people of this island have been waiting politicians to work on.

Champika Ranawake should and must first publicly define what he means by the word ‘ Country’! Is he referring to all citizens in this country or to only one secretion of the population. I for one am ashamed that we have a crass communalist and bigot like him as an elected MP, a Minister and a senior leader of a political party – JHU- in which the word ‘ Hela’ only includes the Sinhalese and excludes the other communities that have equal and probably greater claims to that description.

Rajiv Wijesinghe, D, M Yayaratna, M , Sirisena, Mervyn Silva ,now Champaka Ranawaka,,,
No wonder the Opposition is dead set against a Presidential Election , and only wants Parliamentary Election..
Pity FP holders can’t contest the Presidency.
Otherwise Ms Sisson and Mr Rankin as Leader and the Deputy Leader would have romped in. to take our Dalits to Champaka’s utopia…..

Rajiv Wijesinghe is protecting his National list MP post.
DM Jayarathne, was eating $hit for a long time and when he got caught in feeding Drug barons, he got upset.
MSirisena is no different.
Everybody knows Mervyn Silva.

I had some respect for this MP & Minister for only him being an uncorrupted & educated man to elected to Parliament. Anyway, the “Statement” your making now does make me to change my opinion. Did you no notice after 2009 how the MR Regime was “highjacked” by his own relations, friends, goons, mafia gangs, drug barons, self seeking “professionals”, unprincipled clergy etc. to name a few, who correctly identified his personal weaknesses and deployed every possible opportunity to “make hey while the sun shines”. Now only you “feel ashamed of the state of the country”.
Of course, you must be ashamed of yourself for tolerating all that were going on for the last five years and continuing to hold on to your position and milking the “milking cow” foe so long. This country was not brought to today’s state over night; it was slowly and steadily brought to this state in your own presence and you were in the know of it for the last five years. If you were not “BLIND” you as an educated MP compared to whole lot of others who occupying the seats in that “Assembly of the Peoples” Representatives, would have observed what was going on and raised alarm signals and guided the administration to get on to the correct path. You failed in your DUTY and the people must not pardon you and your company at this late stage.

Minister Champika Ranawaka should not read most of these comments written by these rats. They all have specific interests in their mind. Some are left over LTTE-rump.
For JHU, it looks like it is time to abandon the ship. President, allowed so many things to happen. Now, he is prepared to cheat more, looks like it is the ultimate screw up for majority voters, because he wants to stay in power.
I really hope some one will discipline him as that happened to CBK.
/
BBS Rep / October 20, 2014
Champika Ranawaka is a minister within the Rajapaksa Government as such he himself must take the blame for many of the immense UFPA lapses. If he is honest he should resign.
I do not trust this fellow. He is an opportunist looking to jump ship if things do not go right for the Rajapaksa brothers. He is a racist and heads a racist group – JHU is nothing else.

He is nothing but a third class politician
he was not ashamed when in year 2000 he fought for the single seat won by Sihala urumaya and kicked out the rightful MP and grabbed it
he was not ashamed when white van roamded picking up people and disposing them
he was not ashamed when Muslims were attacked
he was not ashamed when corruption was sky high
now that rascal is talking like a saint!
and poor K A Sumanasekera is still worried about wellalas and dalits…….quite a dumb fellow I must say!

My My, What a discovery. You are the Buddhist version of St. Paul. The man who persecuted the early Christians and then joined them.
Never mind, tell you what, contest the next election by your self, as the JHU. Let the voters decide, how good your party is. No point hanging on to people you don’t like, no ?

What sort of “social, political and economic transformation” is Champika Ranawaka after? Not exactly strong and specific criticism of the government or its policies.

The evil broth being cooked by the likes of JHU, BBS, the likes of Champika Ranawaka, Gammanpila and MR & Co is rvevealed by the following resolution passed at the 11th annual convention of the JHU:
“–to bring in legislation to safeguard Buddhism, and to resettle the Sinhalese who were displaced from the North and the East during the conflict in conformity with the population ratio in the 1971 census”.

Camppika is ashamed of the country.
And he wants to work with the Opposition to give the inhabitants a better time sorry, a good time…
Wonder whether Ranil has put a word in his ear, after returning from his big ass meet with Cameron and the Conservatives.
May be Cameron showed the way to make our inhabitants happy.
And Ranil is going to introduce the Dole to Dalits.
Youth can stay stay home , pull a few Bongs, play with the girl friend the whole day and go and collect the Dole.
And if little ones come along, after too much Bong,, they can collect the child allowance plus baby bonus too…
And Cahmpakika won’t be ashamed or angered and may even live longer.

It has suddenly dawned on Champika Ranawaka that his political platform has been pulverised by the rise of BBS. He now feels worthless, used and discarded! If he is to swim against the current, He now needs to envision a new platform; it is proving difficult within a narrow fundamentalist spectrum as there is only little to manoeuvre!

Hats off to you for having clearly illustrated a double tongued racist, who is very slimy and shrewd. Why cant our politicians see through these racists ,what they are up to?
In most countries which ever party woos the minorities have a winning streak, but here in Sri lanka the racists are ruining the harmony and the peace.

This joker will always be hated for his incitement towards racial hatred against minority Muslims, false propaganda, lying profusely, distorting the facts to project victims as attackers, using threatening and insulting words and actions. It is common knowledge that promoting racial hatred itself causes very strong emotions, and through his public speeches and media blitz, condemned a group of people for their religion and race with claims based on falsehood, whilst deliberately encouraging others to turn against them causing racial tension, opposition and even hostility through acts of violence.
He will definitely meet his Waterloo very soon, and we pray for his fall from grace to happen soon, and assigned to the dustbin of history as a condemned racist.
