We Are Witnessing Murderers Associated With The Regime Walking Scot-Free

By Mangala Samaraweera –

Mangala Samaraweera MP

It was indeed saddening to hear of the savage beating of Mr. Asela Waidyalankara by a group of goons led by a Ministerial Son. While incidents of violence between young people are not unusual, the level of impunity enjoyed by a privileged few and the blatant double standards applied by those supposed to uphold the rule of law in such instances are no doubt unique to the ‘Miracle of Asia.’

This is not the first time Ministerial offspring have acted with such highhandedness nor will it unfortunately be the last. What is important to note is that these are not isolated incidents but part of a culture of impunity that prevail in this country. The family that rules and those who surround them relentlessly use their political and economic power to subjugate others. In a country where the highest judicial officer has been impeached through an illegal process and where senior police officers are ridiculed and humiliated for doing their jobs on a daily basis it is not a surprise that this fate has befallen the son of a respectable senior Police officer. Sri Lanka is a country today that incarcerates its victorious army commander and relegates the nation’s fourth citizen and legitimate Chief Justice to the dustbin of history. With political puppets at the helm of Sri Lanka’s judicial system, what justice can a police official’s son expect when faced with arrogant political power?

The impunity with which Asela Waidyalankara’s assailants have acted and the fact that they continue to get away with their brutal behaviour is also a good lesson for all senior police officials in the country like DIG Waidyalankara. It is a chilling reminder of the fact that despite the rhetoric about war heroes and the forces, when it comes down to the wire, your Secretary of Defence will betray and abandon you if it is a choice between consolidating political power and safeguarding the men who serve under him.

This ugly incident once again reminds us of the humiliation and suffering that ordinary citizens, especially the youth undergo on a daily basis at the hands of ministerial brats and other hangers on of the regime. Though the ruling regime preaches a bright future for youth all they have delivered for the young people of this country is depression and humiliation. While a few privileged sons are racing cars in Colombo, launching satellites at state expense and beating up respectable members of the public, ordinary young men and women are desperately seeking some means to uplift themselves.

We have witnessed murderers associated with the regime walking scot-free, Ministers and their henchmen killing opponents without facing the consequences of the law, senior police officers being transferred on the whims of politicians and senior public servants are insulted by uneducated mouthpieces of the regime singing for their supper.

It is clear by the haste on the part of the police, clearly acting with orders from above, to release Minister Sirisena’s son and the dirty dozen, despite the Government’s recent legislative victory to extend the detention period for a suspect in police custody that the new laws will only be applicable to the regime’s political opponents. At this rate, Sri Lanka may as well have two separate legal systems: one to protect the regime and its loyalists and the other for the rest of the citizenry.

Therefore it should not be a surprise to anyone that those who assaulted Mr. Asela Waidyalanka have been freed on police bail. A man who acted as any respectable husband would have in the wake of a bunch of drunken goons harassing his wife is in hospital today, while his assailants are roaming free. Until we wake up and see the lawless jungle Sri Lankan has become there is no hope of justice for any one of us. This is Sri Lanka’s current tragedy. The plight of young Mr. Waidyalankara is not unique to him, but a symbol of our collective fate in a country bereft of justice and law.

Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka beat up an Army Major not so long ago – what happened? SHIT HAPPENS when Politicians from the Debacle of Asia are around!
Mangala your great hero, the corrupt clown Ranil Wickramasinghe who supported Rajapassa’s Kagaroo Court in the Parliament of uneducated morons, goons, clowns, criminals, and fools, waxes eloquent on the “supremacy of Parliament” which is a MYTH. This parliament is NOT supreme in form or in SUBSTANCE, law or in Fact.
Ranil talks about Parliamentary privileges but all of you – govt and opposition members should be stripped of your privileges and the Diyawenna parliament dissolved and shut down and all of you and political off spring banned from contesting another election!
We need young, clean and non-corrupt people in parliament to turn this debacle of Asia around..

Well said James Bond the country need to be cleaned up of all the corrupt politicians in Parliament, and closed down by the people power and bring in clean young non-corrupt people as you have said into a Parliament which we all can support and be admired by the West and Asia that for the past decade our nation
has not been held in good esteem because of the war crimes and racial conflict created by the present goons who have taken over power and the rule of Law.

Get rid of Rajapaksa and the lot of corrupt thieves, murderers, drug barons and child molesters will disappear with him.

So as I got from RECENT news – the minority of the parliamentarians are non-rapist, non-gold chain robbers, murderes and all forms of other crime doers but with the knnowledge of president who has proved to have abused the country´s constitution – in the process of lately held impeachment against Dr. SB. Further, needless to say how he totally ignored the uncivilised acts of Mervin- not once dozens of times since 2005. Also people would not forget it easily, how president paid the blind eye at the time Baratha was gunned down by DRUG DEALER CUM PALIMENTARIAN Duminda Silva. How many more we could at to the lists where we have almost over 75% of the parlimenatarians today belong to the abusive category. What is the purpose of introducing scavengers, when almost every third is corrupt in current regime under MR. What we need is a total change in the current system.

I welcome Mangala’s outspoken commnents. And I agree.

However, he was a part of this culture we now witness. That is a sad fact.

Please note Namal Rajapassa goon who killed a Brit and raped his girl friend in Tangalle area last year, is now roaming free in the south again.

Ratwatte Jr. who killed 10 muslims during CBK regime is a now a respectable MP.

BTW, where are Duminda and Mervin’s son Malaka? On state sponsored vacations?

Good civil laws are the greatest good that men can give and receive. They are the source of morals, the palladium of property, and the guarantee of all public and private peace. If they are not the foundation of government, they are its supports; they moderate power and help ensure respect for it, as though power were justice itself. They affect every individual; they mingle with the primary activities of his life; they follow him everywhere. They are often the sole moral code of a people, and they are always part of its freedom. Finally, good civil laws are the consolation of every citizen for the sacrifices that political law demands of him for the city, protecting, when necessary, his person and his property as though he alone were the whole city.

    Dear Mangala,

I was very supportive of MR govt when they defeate the Tigers, but I do not approve of their way of governing the country since then. You do not have the right to point fingers either Mr. Samaraweera, you preach to the people from the opposition as if you are Lily white. Let me remind you (and the readers) a few of your antics when you were in power.

    1) You spent Rs. 25 mil of the poor tax payers money to refurbish your ministerial office during Chandrika’s reign.
    2) During the same period you spent another Rs. 5 mil to install a lift at your official residence for your mother’s comfort.
    3) You bought clothes from ODEL using your official credit card.

I am sure there were many more.

Currently you are part of the opposition that took no action against the misbehaviour at night clubs of offsprings of ministers SB Dissanayake and Mahinda Wijesekere.

If you preach good governance, just get your leader to give the people of this country one assurance now, that you will not acccept Mervin Silva into your fold in the event he is sacked by MR.

(Dear ColomboTG – I hope you will publish this and not take as a personal attack on Mr. MS. I do not intend to. The people of this country have to be constantly reminded that all their representatives, irrespective of which party they belong to, have skeltons in their cupboards)

Mr. LovemotherLanka, please stick to the subject of the article without going off the rails.

Also do you have proof of what you have accused the writer of? Or did you read it in ‘some newspaper’?

If you have a personal grudge against him this is not the place to vent it.

Learn social-media etiquette before using it.

        Kattakarawala,people who elect their representatives
must ask them what they will do in a similar
condition. When the opposition who had been on the
same seat many times must not only point their fingers
at others but also must have practicable plans not to
repeat the evils they see their buddies are into. All
these politicians act in the same fashion when both are
in power and in the opposition. And this will not change
until people realize that they are respectable citizens
        by all means.

The law according to Gotabhaya. Arbitrary arrests, detentions, abductions, extra judicial execution. For the regime, one telephone call can do the trick. President can shape up ape minissu. Other people can eat pigs shit.

Mangala Samaraweera is a desperate man trying desperately to save his ass in the South.

He will be a goner come the next election unless his Boss sneaks him into Colombo where his new Fan Club is.

This exaggeration is perfect timing isn’t it?.

Minister Sirisean was on the blower to Gota , pleading his son’s innocence.

What did this Mangala do when when his cabinet colleagues son,s were playing hell as one poster pointed out?.

Mangal should have searched the Web to see how the CM’S sons in our neighborhood do to fellow citizens.

There has been only one incident before this and Mangala wants the UNHRC voters to believe that this is the norm in post Nanthikadal.

Can Mangala guarantee that the request the other poster made , plus to to keep Sirisena also out in case he gets the boot too?.

You can bet London to a brick that both plus any others will be recruited to the MangalaTeam with glee.

      K.A. Sumanasekera

      You have lost your cool.

      Why?

Did Mangala hit you where it hurts?

      Tsunamisekera:
Have you ABSOLUTELY no respect for the truth when you say, “There has been only one incident before this and Mangala wants the UNHRC voters to believe that this is the norm in post Nanthikadal.”

“ONE INCIDENT?!” Can’t you even count using your fingers and toes or will such an intellectual effort cause a complete mental breakdown?

We all remember what the school girl who took a few coconuts to find money for her school had to go through. Why not this son of the minister. When Mervyn’s son beat the army guy this minister made noise, now his son has beaten another guy, why should he protect his son. Do we need leaders like this. UPFA is full of this type of uneducated, uncivilized goons.

AS I COMMENTED EARLIER IN ANOTHER BLOG,

POLICE SHOULD SHOOT TO KILL THESE SONS OF BASTARDS
AND PLANT WEAPONS IN THEIR HANDS TO PROVE THAT THEY
    KILLED THEM IN SELF DEFENSE.

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO ERADICATE THE THUGS, RAPISTS, MURDERERS.

NO NEED TO GO INTO THE PRISONS TO KILL THEM.

    OPEN AND SHUT CASE.

“Police Bail” appears to be an invention of the police,to favour persons with political clout.
It is NOT in the Penal Code.
Will the judiciary object to this hijacking of its right and privilege?
Will the legal fraternity too object?
Or, will both remain cowed down like what happened after
    the ‘impeachment’?
Mangala’s past was unfortunate, but he is clearly correct about the present political situation.

What Mangala Samaraweera sys us correct. But the “Million Rupees” question is” Can we trust politicians like of him to do anything better once they get into power?.

Already we have experienced and tested these people, including his ex-boss and the present boss. All of them were failures and failed us very badly. That is why people opted for change. That too looks as bad as or worse than all we had. So Mr. Samaraweera go before a mirror and ask “Am I honoust in doing this type of exposures and have I got the right to make adavantage of these situations”?

The only “miserable and sorry” factor with you and like is that you make no assessment of yourself in making public utterances of this nature. However much these stories are true, please remember one thing, that is people do not trust you anymore.

Ever since Rajapakses started to govern I was wondering what’s going on in our Police department. Every other day Police Inspectors, sub Inspectors, DIG’s are transferred all over Sri Lanka on daily basis and overnight like cattle been transported from one end to the other.

This never happened before. Also in a police station all Police constables are transferred in one shot and overnight to some where and I was wondering what’s going on.

This is the way Rajapakse family dictators govern the country on thair own terms without any law and order.

What happened to Kahawatte murder cases, Baratha luxman murder case, last week it was DIG Lathif…..and thousands of other cases and police reports been pushed under carpet while DIG’s, IP’s, and constables are transferred to erase evidence.

Frank to say I cannot afford to take my family for a five star hotel dinner that often, leave alone Minister’s son taking 15 friends for hotel night outs, while another minister say one can live with rupees 2,500 per month.

Like before this incident also will be covered up as usual while poor less offenders are languishing in jails.

This is MARA’s and his Parliament goons wonderland and our Karuma land.

All I could say is our country is sinking morally, economically, education, health, religion and among communities.

No amount of 24 hour bana will rescue it.

Mangala Samaraweera should join with some real patriots and strong personalities such as Gen.Sarath Fonseka like minded people and economic and business experts to rescue our country. Using Japanese and Western professional, administration, technology and know how is the best.

    Mr.Mangala Samaraweera,

While knowing that the Captain of the ship sailing it towards an Ice Berg, you have only two choices……..

Either kick the Captain overboard, and take control of the ship and rescue it’s passengers……….or wait till captain hit the ice berg and go down with the ship with all the passengers on board.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND YOUR PARTY.

The Debacle of Asia it will be unless you , very quickly get rid of all , these goons . RANIL, Mahinda and his Brothers. The only difference between Mahinda and Ranil is, for that matter between Mahinda and any other Sri Lankan would be, no one person in Sri Lanka will have , 568 parasites in their family. And to beet it all all UNEDUCATED?

So just do not ever think that Ranil will ever be in those executive presidents shoes. He will be worse than Mahinda.

MS, with all due respect, the Government of the day acts with such impunity due to the Impotence of the opposition. So, stop telling us what we already know, and get down to fighting the Govt. head on . Afterall, this is what an opposition is for. We need a more vibrant and intelligent opposition and not a passive one like the current opposition.

Jayantha, such revolutions are possible with genuine people who are concerned about the country and the people. If tomorrow some one were to summon all the Public for a demonstration you will understand how the response would be. This is the biggest obstacle we have at the moment.

        Gamini,
Yes I agree with you. This is all due to the old, lazy, weak, power hungry, supreme parliament leech we have as the Opposition leader.

Remember Tanil is JR’s nephew…..and you know how JR did politics.

Never in our history that the opposition is so weak and broken….simply because of the lazy moron wants to do politics alone without sharing with others while giving TV/ radio interviews from Sirikotha.

Also there’s rumer of a RW/ MR pact…….How could Ranil win 4500 votes out of 5000 during the last UNP leader’s nomination election…….when he is the least favourite in the party…..

Let’s see for next few months where the country’s politics heading for…….after UNHRC.

    SRI LANKAN JUSTICE!!!!

THE MURDERERS TURN STATE WITNESS, AND THEY GET AWAY BY POINTING OUT OTHERS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING AT KELANIYA. MERVYN CONTINUES TO GET AWAY, SINCE HIS “PATRON” IS THE PRESIDENT-MAHINDA alias AL CAPONE.
MAHINDA KEEPS ON SAVING HIM AS HE HAS MUCH MORE TO BE DONE AS THE OTHER MAHINDA CLEARLY STATED AT UNHCR AT GENEVA.

THEIR FATHERS NAMED THEM MAHINDA AFTER THE PRINCE MAHINDA WHO BROUGHT
BUDDHISM TO SRI LANKA AND DID THE “FIRST CONVERSION”

THOUGH CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS ARE ACCUSED OF “CONVERTING”, THE CREDIT AND HONOUR FOR THE FIRST CONVERSION GOES TO BUDDHISM.WHETHER ETHICAL OR UNETHICAL IT DOES NOT MATTER SINCE IT IS DONE BY BUDDHISTS.

HARAM OR HALAL ??? B.B.S. CAN GIVE THE RULING

CHAMPIKAS, GAMANPILLAI,ATURELIYA AND THE B.B.C. PLEASE NOTE

it is somewhat sad to see the state of affairs and misbehaving kith and kin of parliamentarians and those of the higher echelon. these are the seeds sowed by their parents, naturally what else can you expect from the new kind of genre. in a way you should be glad that your name cannot be sullied by such a breed.only time will teach them as to what the follies they create will lead them too. we, the citizens can only wait and see.For what is going on currently politically and morally, we are helpless, because we cannot lower the river nor raise the bridge!

SONS ARE FOLLOWING THEIR FATHERS. THEY COMMIT ALL THESE CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES WITH THE PERSONAL SECURITY GIVEN TO THEIR PARENTS.
THIS IS NOT A TIME FOR DEBATE OR COMMENT BUT FOR ACTION!!!!
LET US DO SOMETHING. JUST WAIT TILL MAHINDA RETURNS FROM GENEVA.

I agree with what Mangala said in his article. If he is genuine he should do some action to remove Ranil from the UNP and find proper leadership to the opposition. ( NO Ranil, No Premadasa)
