We Offered So Many Chances To Rajapaksa, Our Doors Are Now Closed: JHU

The real conspiracy is within the government and that is reflected by its senior members who have defected, former UPFA coalition member Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) today said.

Mahinda And Champika

Mahinda And Champika

Speaking at a press conference held a short while ago held to announce their stance on the group they would support at the upcoming polls; its General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka told media that the doors of the JHU are closed to the government.

“We offered so many chances to President Rajapaksa and now the opportunities have run out. He did not agree to our proposals, therefore we will not support him at the upcoming presidential polls,” he said.

However, they also did not clearly state whether or not they would support the common candidate. Instead he stated that the JHU is open to working with any group that is ready to support their proposals.

“We are having discussions with several opposition parties. We hope to receive a positive response to our proposals by the Common candidate,” he added.

Meanwhile JHU member and Western provincial councilor Udaya Gammanpila told media that they are not interested in raising Ranil Wickremesinghe or Chandrika Kumaratunga into power.

Colombo Telegraph revealed today bout the issues that have been raised by the JHU about CBK being ‘actively involved’ in the common opposition movement. They had expressed concern over the comments that had been made by her in Horagolla about exposing the Rajapaksas. This might have played a role in their indecisiveness so far regarding which candidate/group to support at the upcoming polls.

JHU is a racist party and should be treated the same way as BBS. They can go it alone and see how much votes they can muster. They may talk big put have no popularity backing from amongst the masses going by past experiences.

JHU was partner in this government for 9 years and they should take responsibility for all the damages that may have taken place during this period, eg, adoption of 18th amendment, removal of the Chief Justice, cost of living, corruption etc.

They only cough out communalism with
which the country could never progress. They do not
have many followers and they cannot stand on
    their own.

Think twise and learn from the past. Weather you like or dislike,in democratic environment, people will and going to choose who they want as PM. You can cry but people decides. Dont warry about that. We need to change this system first. You dont need to agree for everything.

As usual Patali and Udaya want to sit on the fence, when Rathana Hamuduruwo is clearly on the side of Maithripala Sirisena. Patali and Udaya still want to be sitting on the lap of Presiden Rajapakse as they know that Maithripala and Ranil will not allow them to dance the way Rajapakse did. Further what is the voter base of JHU? What ever said and done Rathana Hamuduruwo is a honest person who is keen to bring Sri Lanka out of a disastrous situation and we should salute him for his efforts. If Udaya is appointed as the CM of Western PC then he will fall at the feet of Maithripala Sirisena.

Many do not have fully understood My3 plan I feel. The idea is for My3 to be the Prez for 100 days.

After 100 days they will hold the general election. The difference here is neither major party will have the advantage of having the Exec Prez pulling strings.

The gamble happens here. A 2/3 is expected to form a ‘national govt’ with a motive to abolish the Exec Prez. The 2/3 then makes the Prez just a ceremonial head and PM becomes the exec. Its here that the reforms takes place.

Any party, whether SLFP or UNP lead coalition can win the Parliament under My3 after the general elections.

This is a good plan and it can potentially bring the required reforms. The key however is Transparency and Accountability measures.

An Open govt is envisaged where everything is open to public scrutiny under a Freedom Of Info (FOI) regime.

The JHU should define and clarify its position on the minority issues and devolution ( the 13th amendment in particular). If the JHU is taken into the joint opposition front without a stance acceptable to the minorities, the opposition will stand to lose the critical minority vote. This clarification should come from Rathana Thera , a person I would trust a hundred times more that Champika Ranawaka.

What if they don’t and JHU remains what it is?

Will Tamils not vote for Maitripala? That will be like 2005.

      So MR shall prevail!!

Tamils never quite understood voting and elections.

      Beggars can’t be choosers.

What choice do Tamils have? Whatever is the JHU position, Tamils must vote for Maithripala.

Otherwise live with MaRa forever. Then his brothers and sons too including GoRa.

    1. The only reason the JHU is concerned about Chandrika’s comment is the possibility their leaders will get caught too. They are looking for assurances that such things will not happen.

    2. The JHU and BBS are looking to hang onto someone’s tail so they remain in power. The average voter does not care for their extremist philosophy and therein lies their desperate attempts to project an image of relevance.

    3. Chandrika needs to be told in blunt terms ( if she has not been told already) that she was a crook and will remain a crook and needs to step back into the shadows. She can try all she wants to act as though she is saving us from the Rajapakses but that is not the truth. This is about her trying to get another chance at our expense. She made things so bad that Mahinda was the alternative to Ranil. Think about that, after you consider the results of the last 9 years.

Also remember the military would have defeated the LTTE under ANY political leadership IF the support materially and financially were provided. But, lets be reasonable and give that to the Rajapakses. That does not justify them looting the country for generations to be indebted to the Chinese.

JHU has no popular support even among the Buddhists of the country. They got a few seats in the climate of the ‘Mahinda Wave’ that was there during the last two elections. Realizing that the wave is now against MR the JHU for namesake submitted a set of proposals, which they certainly knew, are not acceptable to MR, and have now switched sides mainly to safeguard their few seats in the changes expected. Maithripala and the opposition coalition should not take the JHU for granted as their motives are not honest.

Why is the JHU concerned about CBK wanting to expose Rajapaksa?

I suspect the JHU has been heavily involved in Rajapaksa’s shenanigans.

All the parties and personalities who have been associated with the Rajapaksas must be exposed because there has been corruption and criminality on a massive scale since the Rajapaksas captured power.

JHU doesn’t have vote base. 2005/2010 they got lot of disgruntle UNP votes. Now those votes are no longer with JHU. All of that vote now has been migrated back to UNP. After 2010 they were completely depend on SLFP votes, because of their rhetoric of good governance. But in reality they help Mahinda to do all dirty works without and remorse. They help to remove 17 amendment help to include 18th amendment are the most important of few. So their help is not very much crucial at this juncture.

Chamila Ranawaka, along with Champika Boruliyanaatchchi robbing us of free press( that he finds fault with), carried out Gota’s contracts of slandering, drowning the reasonable concerns, the injustices done by Government and BBS. He is the biggest sympathizer of BBS outside the ruling regime. Udaya Gammanpila is Gota’s lap dog cum attack dog. Who no one should trust to follow through, PM Aluthgamage famously said two of the left gp may return, I am sure he meant Chamila and Gammanpila. These two are ultra rasicts, they work like hand and glove with Gota’s agenda, why are they against this, because if they are exposed their role in those crimes too come out to light. I wouldn’t be surprised if the do a U turn on Jan 1st and go back to campaign for MR just like Mervyn Silva is doing now. As Ratana thero is fully committed to the common candidate, this guy is blabbering nonsense. Common opposition is better off without these blood stained hands( from Alithgama riots) of these two non relaxant political entities.

It is true that the military could have defeat LTTE anyhow because few LTTE cannot compete with huge army and 100% support from many countries including India(vadakathayan). The reality is Sinhala governments could have resolved Tamils issue without all this human loses. Once defeated LLTE in Nathikadal Gotha could have stopped killing , instead they killed many wounded and hidden civilians inside trenches, people with white flag, Isipiriya, Balachandran and many more. After defeating LTTE why they suffocated civilians like animals inside camps without any facilities. So Goths’s motive is not to defeat LTTE, their main aim is to wipe out all tamils. May be the last persons in their mind to kill could be karuna, kp, duglas etc. Wakeup Karuna, Duglas, KP(poor man have no choice)etc. You are like goats for sacrifice in temples.
