In a special message to the Sinhalese people, the Northern Province Chief Minister Elect C.V. Wigneswaran called on communities in the South to educate their political leadership about federalism and make them understand that it was not a euphemism for a separate state.

Addressing a press conference in Jaffna last afternoon, the newly elected Wigneswaran who received a historic 132,255 preferential votes and topped the TNA list in the Jaffna District, said that it was time for the Sinhalese and the Tamils to live together in peace. “We are citizens of the same country,” he said.
Wigneswaran said that the massive mandate the TNA had received in the Northern Province was a reason for the communities in the south to finally come to terms with the fact that the people of the North have an individuality of their own. He said it was up to the Government to respect the verdict of the Northern Tamils given in Saturday’s election. “We urge the Government to grant the council the powers that are legitimately ours in line with international covenants and agreements,” he told reporters.

It is truly sad that majority Sinhalese has failed to realise the importance of the election of Justice Vigneshvaran, a moderate, honourable gentleman by the people of Jaffna as their leader. Strictly speaking there is no way that you can icompare this gentleman with most of our two-faced self-centred Machiavellians. People of Jaffna should be proud to have him as their leader and this gentleman would surely would make a difference to their life within a unitary state and would very likely put a stop to utter waste of life of the youth with a realistic hope to bring about a change to their life.

Let’s hope that this gentleman as Lee Kuan Yew did in Singapore will send a clear message to our Sinhalese rubbish politicos who are directly responsible for ruining our nation with a right message to them not by word but by deeds how to bring about a real change to the quality of life of the people. They want to have peace and dignity.Remove the army that causes all the problems to the young youth.
Direct your answer to the Armed Forces and have them stay in the barracks and let the nation move forward.

Congratulations Honorable Sir, You are the highest educated, most articulate, right thinking and patriotic person to ever hold a leadership post in this country.(I say “patriotic” since you stand for a united Sri Lanka whereas all those false Sinhalese patriots only encourage communal disunity).
The Tamils are lucky to have you. The only problem is that you will have to deal with a half educated, vicious and revengeful President to get most of the benefits that your community yearns for. MARA will make it absolutely difficult for you… (mark my words). You will have to learn to be patient and in the process control the impatience of your people as they would expect results in the shortest possible time. Your path will be strewn with thorns and pot holes. We hope that your years of experience as a judge will stand in good stead to deal with the current regime.
(By the way, you are the only Supreme Court Judge who has a remarkable knowledge of Sinhalese literature and who can quote sections by heart, better than any Sinhalese! We are indeed proud to have a person of your calibre as a politician in this country)

Accept my heartfelt congratulations. You are a true son of mother Lanka, probably the only leader with integrity, knowledge, wisdom, and insight elected to office after independence. We should salute our fellow Lankans from Jaffna for setting an example to the Lankans in South to follow.
We, know you well since you played your role as a upright and independent judge in the High Court of Colombo until you reach the office of the Apex Court. It is sad that people like Susil Premajayantha (now a senior minister in the Rajapakse govt), an utterly hopeless lawyer who begged and practiced before you insult you with unfounded allegations made against you. But we know you are a man with magnanimous character and you will pardon these irrelevant and insignificant lot (sad to say they represent majority ethnic group) who have taken the whole nation for ride since independence.
We have no doubt that you will demonstrate the two-faced Machiavellians in the South how to lead a nation. We have no doubt that you will have the character and will to unite this nation particularly at a time when the opposition is in complete disarray and have become a utterly irrelevant lot.
