Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested Prageeth Chanaka Gunetilleke, a well known perpetrator of anti-Muslim hate crimes, over the attack on the Rohingya refugees at the UN safe house in Mount Lavinia.
Police said the suspect was a police constable who had been interdicted. He was arrested after he had surrendered to the CCD yesterday the police said. Three court cases are currently pending against him at the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.
One of the cases refers to attacking and causing damages to a Mosque.

Rape is a crime against humanity. Every rapist should be sentenced to double his age, Rigorous Imprisonment.
A 21-year old (15-years is a lie) Rohingya woman’s alleged rape case is still under investigation, and the accused was interdicted. If found guilty of rape, NO MERCY, he should be sentenced to 50-year Rigorous Imprisonment.
Vithiya’s rape case which made everybody shock and grieve is now over after 2 years’ investigations/trials. I hail brave Trial-at-Bar (including Jaffna High Court Judge M. Ilancheliyan who won the hearts of Sinhalese few month ago) and their excellent verdict over Vithiya’s murderers. Rapists should NOT be allowed to submit an Appeal.
Law should be enforced on Vijayakala Maheshwaran, State Minister for Child Affairs who arranged main rapist Swiss Kumar’s escape from Police which is a disgraceful act by a woman and a responsible Government Minister who represents Tamil minority. She should be replaced with someone sincere like Justice Ilancheliyan at the next election. I like to see him in the Parliament.
There were some other excellent verdicts in Colombo and Kandy where rapists were sentenced to 40-50-year RI.
The Muslim gang who raped a Tamil girl in Trinco should also be sentenced to 50-year RI.
What happened to the rape case of 3 or 4 little Tamil girls in the same family who were raped by a carpenter/mason in the North? I don’t remember seeing any verdict against the rapist. He should be given 120-year (30-years for each crime) Rigorous Imprisonment.
There were other rape cases like little Seya’s and a Tamil woman in the North which I cannot remember now. Unlike unsubstantiated phantom allegations against our Army, these cases have supporting evidence. Therefore, they should be heard without delay. No lawyer should appear for rapists.
