What Bondi Beach Massacre Reveals About “Good Victims” & “Good Heroes”

By Mohamed Harees –

Lukman Harees

Bondi Beach: horror and heroism

The recent Bondi Beach massacre in Sydney, Australia was a horrible terrorist act, which needs to be condemned with all the emphasis at our disposal. At least 15–16 people were killed, and many more were injured when two gunmen opened fire on crowds of Jewish celebrants and beachgoers, attending the Hanukkah festival. Footage and eyewitness accounts describe panic as shots rang out, people ran for cover, and ambulances rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, with authorities quickly labelling the attack a terrorist assault targeting the Jewish community. Headlines across Australian and global media rightfully called it a “mass shooting,” a “terror attack”, and a “massacre,” leaving no ambiguity about its despicable character.

Amid this horror, a 43-year-old Muslim man, Ahmed El Ahmed, emerged as a striking example of courage. Video verified by multiple outlets shows him hiding behind parked cars, then sprinting towards one of the shooters, tackling him from behind, wrestling away the rifle and forcing the attacker to the ground. During the struggle, he was shot twice—in the arm and hand—yet managed to disarm the gunman, then raised one hand and lowered the weapon to signal to approaching police that he was not a threat. The world joined the Australian leaders, including the New South Wales premier and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and publicly hailed him as a “genuine hero” whose bravery “saved many lives,” and donations for him quickly surged past one million Australian dollars. He was a hero indeed!

About “good victims” and “good heroes”

At the same time, this terror incident also showed how clearly Western societies can recognise horror, condemn it without hesitation, and celebrate courage—especially when the victims are close to ‘home’, and the perpetrator fits their “enemy” stereotype. Setting this response beside Western treatment of Israeli massacres in Gaza and the West Bank exposes how language, empathy and political framing change once the victims are Palestinian. The Bondi massacre thus showcases Western media at their best and worst simultaneously. At their best, they centre victims’ humanity, tell their stories, and honour those who showed extraordinary courage—including a Muslim man who ran towards danger to save mostly Jewish lives. The fact that Ahmed is a Muslim immigrant fruitseller did not prevent him from being recognised as part of “us”; for a brief moment, public narratives transcended stereotypes that often cast Muslims only as suspects.

At their worst, this same system of representation starkly contrasts with how Palestinians are depicted when they are the ones under fire. On the same day, a dozen victims fell to the war criminal IOF bullets in Gaza, despite the ‘fake’ ceasefire. In Bondi, there is no talk of “complexity” or “both sides”; no one suggests that festivalgoers or beach families were “human shields” or that their presence near a Jewish event made them legitimate targets. The horror is named clearly, and the heroism of a Muslim man is seamlessly incorporated into an Australian story of shared bravery and national unity. This raises the obvious question: why is such clarity, empathy and inclusion so often missing when the dead and the heroes are Palestinian or when the perpetrator is a Western ally, and the West is also complicit?

Gaza, the West Bank and beyond! horror normalised and diluted

Israel’s genocide in Gaza and ongoing lethal force in the West Bank have killed civilians on a scale vastly exceeding Bondi; yet, they are rarely framed with the same unambiguous moral language. UNcited figures put Palestinian deaths in Gaza into the tens of thousands since October 2023, with women and children comprising a large share, while entire neighbourhoods, schools, hospitals and refugee camps have been hit. Yet major Western outlets routinely describe these events as “airstrikes,” “operations” or “escalations,” and Palestinian deaths as “casualties” or people who “died in strikes,” blunting both agency and culpability.

Detailed mediamonitoring studies show stark asymmetries. One analysis of BBC coverage found that when Palestinian deaths were 34 times higher than Israeli deaths, the terms “massacre” or “slaughter” were used vastly more often for Israeli victims than for Palestinian ones. Israeli justifications and security narratives dominated airtime, while Palestinian voices and humanrights perspectives appeared far less frequently and were more heavily caveated. The cumulative effect is to normalise large-scale Palestinian suffering as an unfortunate but expected backdrop, rather than as a series of intolerable atrocities comparable to Bondi.

When Russia targets civilians in Ukraine, Western leaders and media routinely use terms like “war crimes,” “slaughter” and “terror bombing,” and quickly back calls for international investigations and sanctions. When Israel hits civilian areas in Gaza or kills protesters and bystanders in the West Bank, the same outlets often speak of “strikes,” “clashes” and “security operations,” even where the death toll is much higher. Israeli official narratives about “human shields” and “precision strikes” are often relayed prominently and with little challenge, while comparable claims by adversaries such as Russia are treated far more sceptically.

Civilian victims and “human shields”

Civilian casualties caused by enemies are framed as clear atrocities; civilian deaths caused by allies are framed as tragic sideeffects. Syrian or Russian attacks on hospitals and schools are condemned as deliberate war crimes and used to justify punitive measures. Israeli attacks on hospitals, UN shelters and apartment blocks in Gaza are often introduced with Israel’s justification (weapons caches, tunnels, militants) and accompanied by suggestions that Hamas puts civilians at risk as “human shields,” subtly shifting blame onto the victims. No Western government would accept its own shopping malls, churches or stadiums being labelled “human shields,” yet that logic is treated as plausible when Palestinians are bombed.

Protest rights and “security”

Mass protests for democracy in places like Hong Kong or against Russian actions are praised as brave exercises of free expression, and crackdowns on those protests are condemned as authoritarian repression. Large proPalestinian demonstrations in Western capitals are framed as “security challenges,” with extensive coverage of a few incidents of antisemitic graffiti or tense moments, even when organisers explicitly oppose antisemitism and focussed on ceasefire demands. Governments that celebrate protest abroad have imposed sweeping restrictions on slogans, flags and campus encampments when those protests target Israeli policy, citing public order or “community cohesion.

Legal accountability and international courts

When the International Criminal Court (ICC) or other bodies move to investigate or indict officials from non-allied states, Western governments frequently applaud and use the language of “ending impunity.” When those same bodies open cases or consider charges related to Israeli actions in Gaza or the occupied territories, many of the same governments denounce the court as “politicised,” threaten sanctions or pressure it not to proceed. This selective support undermines the universality of international law and signals that some states are effectively above the rules.

Speech on Israel vs other states

Harsh, even sweeping, criticism of countries like China, Iran or Russia—accusing them of apartheidlike systems, ethnic cleansing or state terrorism—is widely accepted in Western discourse. Comparable terms applied to Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, even when backed by major humanrights organisations, are often portrayed as “beyond the pale,” “onesided” or potentially antisemitic. Politicians and journalists face far more career risk for describing Israel as an apartheid state than for using similar or stronger language about nonallies, even though groups like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Israeli NGOs have issued detailed apartheid analyses.

Across all these examples, the pattern is consistent: where allies and “Western” interests are at stake—above all in the case of Israel—media narratives and government policies soften language, dilute blame and police criticism; where enemies or distant “others” are concerned, terms like “massacre,” “terror,” “war crimes” and “ethnic cleansing” come much more easily.

Anti-Zionism, antisemitism and the politics of narrative

The Bondi attack targeted a Jewish gathering, and that reality rightly sharpens concern about antisemitic violence. Authorities have classified it as terrorism aimed at the Jewish community, and Jewish Australians are grieving with a specific historical fear in mind. This makes it even more important to insist on a clear distinction between antisemitism and antiZionism, so that necessary solidarity with Jewish communities is not misused to silence criticism of Israeli state violence.

Antisemitism is hostility or discrimination against Jews as Jews; it is racism and must be opposed everywhere it appears. AntiZionism is opposition to the political project and ideology of Zionism and to a state structure that systematically privileges Jewish identity over Palestinian rights; it challenges occupation, apartheidlike systems and mass killings committed by the Israeli state. Muslim heroism at Bondi—Ahmed al Ahmed risking his life to stop a massacre of mainly Jewish civilians—embodies this distinction in human form: a Muslim man rejecting antisemitic violence by protecting Jewish lives, while many Muslims and others remain fiercely critical of Zionism and Israeli policies.

Western media and politicians too often blur this line, treating strong condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza or advocacy for Palestinian liberation as suspect or potentially antisemitic. This double standard helps explain why Israeli massacres are described with euphemism and caution, while a massacre like Bondi is described with moral clarity: one implicates an ally, the other does not. The result is a poisoned discourse where Palestinians’ suffering is under-named and those who speak for them are over-suspected.

Towards one moral standard

Comparing Bondi to Gaza and the West Bank reveals several interlocking double standards. Beginning with the Bondi Beach massacre and the bravery of a Muslim man who saved Jewish lives makes it harder to accept the selective empathy that dominates much Western coverage of Israel–Palestine. If the deliberate killing of civilians at Bondi is rightly called a massacre and a terror attack, then the deliberate or reckless killing of civilians in Gaza, leading to a livestreamed Genocide and the West Bank must be named with the same moral force, regardless of who carries it out.

In addition, Ahmed al Ahmed’s act at Bondi is a powerful symbol of how ordinary people can refuse the logic of hatred and save one another across religious lines. The challenge to Western media and governments is to match that courage in words and policy: to abandon double standards, to distinguish clearly between antiZionism and antisemitism, and to extend the same moral clarity shown at Bondi to every massacre, including those carried out by allies against Palestinians.

These two gunmen (father and son) of the Muslim faith would have been planning to do the same as those ‘Hamas’ who invaded a ‘Musical Show’ at the Gaza Strip in 2023, killing and abducting those enjoying a holiday.

The exceptions were: (1) Israel Mozard, who was close by, didn’t notice the attacker’s arrival at the open ground, despite big boasting of ‘Security Expertise’. (2) In Australia at least, there was a ‘Fruit Seller’ (a Muslim) who attacked one gunman and prevented many more casualties, and captured him. (3) The Israeli Security Forces were blind when the ‘Hostages’ were taken away from the venue of the musical show. (4) The Australian Government contained the situation and didn’t allow it to escalate into a wild uprising against the Muslims. (5) The Israeli Government carried it into a large-scale war and continues to date. (6) The people in Australia have already raised a million dollars to ‘REWARD’ that ‘Fruit Seller ‘, a Muslim.

In Israel, the PM Benjimon Nethiniyau has requested the President to ‘PARDON” him on the corruption case filed against him, in recognition of his war efforts.

“The challenge to Western media and governments is to match that courage in words and policy: to abandon double standards, to distinguish clearly between antiZionism and antisemitism,”
But that would be self-defeating, wouldn’t it? After going to all that trouble of setting up a settler state would Western governments now want to paint it as anything but the “only democracy in the Middle East”?
Historically, Jews have coexisted with Muslims much better than with Christians. It was the insertion of European Zionists into the region that destroyed that relationship. As late as 1942, King Mohammed of Morocco, at that time a French protectorate, prevented the deportation of Moroccan Jews to be gassed.

I am not sure of that assertion. Australia would surely have made exceptions to the “White Australia Policy” for High-Caste people from South Asia ?? Despite their color ???
On another note, there is a slow but sure effort in the media to quietly erase any mention of the Syrian guy who disarmed the attacker. It’s proving to be quite effective.

True, it is most inconvenient to the narrative that the Syrian guy happened to be there. The only good Muslims are dead ones, as they used to say of Injuns in less politically correct times.

OC, I am fully aware of what the Whites in Australia did to the Aboriginals and other non whites and their bloody history, and also what Israel is doing to the Palestinian Arabs, and do not condone it. However, the modern Australia that I migrated to a few years ago from the UK is very different. It is a very vibrant multicultural society, and now a lot is being done to redress the great injustice that was done to the original Australians, unlike Sri Lanka. where Sinhalese Buddhist racism thrives, and no acknowledgement of the grave injustice that was done to the island’s Tamils and still being done and no attempt to redress. This is the vast difference. The Australian Prime Minister and many state premiers have openly apologised in the federal and state Parliaments to the Aboriginal Australians. In Sri Lanka, the state, the Sinhalese elite, politicians and the Sinhalese Buddhist and even most Christian clergy still support the marginalisation of the Tamils and thrive on it for gaining power, a vast difference, and many here who condemn Israel condone state-sponsored Sinhalese racism against the island’s Tamils and trivialise it whilst shedding crocodile tears about Palestine. Both Sinhalese and Muslims.

This is the vast difference, and whatever happened in Palestine does not justify the atrocity and mass killings committed on innocent Australian Jews in the name of Islam at Bondi Beach, and the narrative of the Syrian Arab Muslim and the sake are not inconvenient, especially the Syrian Arab, but a convenient godsend to the Australian Media, the authorities, and police and they are not trying to erase it but highlight it to reduce racial and religious tensions and even many Jewish people have openly showed their gratitude and appreciation of these two men who risked their own lives to disarm this mad men and save a lot of Jewish lives and have contributed immensely to the Syrian man’s medical expensed and loss of income. Do not listen to the fake Mongolian Throat singer with a very deep throat, with sour grapes and an agenda. You can feel him gloating and justifying what happened and his fake narratives. Many prominent Muslim organisations and Imams in Australia have condemned this attack and stated that this is not Islam, and this attack on innocent Jewish civilians at Bondi Beach, who were going about their own business and celebrating a Jewish festival of lights, was to dispel darkness and evil, in the name of Islam and the beleaguered Palestinian Arabs, does no good or service to any Muslim or the Palestinian Arabs but has only increased suspicion and hatred towards all Muslims and the Palestinians and even many Jews and ordinary White Australians who were sympathetic towards the Muslims and Palestenians, now are not and think, this is what these people are capable of, terrorism against innocent. Yet, idiotic people are coming here, condoning rejoicing and justifying this.

Now, many rightwing elements in Australia and many other Western nations are using the incident as an excuse to pressure many liberal Western democracies like Australia and other Western European nations, which were far more sympathetic to the Palestinian cause and had recognised the two-state solution and Palestine to retract not only on the Palestinian issue but even on non White and non-Christian immigration. These Islamic nuts had played right into their hands, and most probably this is a godsend to them, and they will make capital out of this and scapegoat, every non white and non-Christian, especially Muslims. Look how restrained and tolerant most Western people are; if a Muslim had done this in Sri Lanka or in India, there would have been riots, pogroms, burning, killings and looting.

The fruit seller is a Muslim, but he is an Arab from Syria, and this is his main identity. His family fled Islamic, other extremist and political violence in Syria and has real experience with what religious extremism and radicalisation can do and the chaos it brings to people’s lives. The perpetrators of this Islamic extremism are South Asian Muslims of Indian origin, a vast difference, the father still was an Indian citizen and an Australian resident and the son was born in Australia, so an Australian by birth. Vast difference, the former an Arab, most probably an Alawite or belonging to another Shia or Sunni Muslim sect, who has had first-hand experience of what Islamic extremism, radicalisation and political repression in the name of religion, race, language and ethnicity can do and the terror and chaos it can create and had fled from this. The latter two radicalised Muslim terrorists are of South Asian origin and ancestry, and most probably belong to the mainstream Muslim Sunni majority sect, which is the major source of Islamic terrorism and extremism, ISIS, Taliban, Al-Qaeda, Sri Lankan Fake Arab South Indian Tamil origin Islamic extremism.

These people migrated to Australia from India for the good life, at least the father, as the son was born here and would not have hardly experienced any kind of chaos back in India, but have observed that Indian or all South Asian Muslims are highly radicalised and intolerant towards non Muslims, compared to Arabs, Iranians, Turks, Indonesians, etc. These converted Muslims, especially from South Asia, are the worst religious extremists and want to be more Arab than the Arabs, as you can see in Sri Lanka. A chip on their shoulder, largely due to their origins. Others also did a lot and disarmed a Sikh man and an old Jewish couple who were shot dead. Now, due to these South Asian Muslim extremists, horrible act of thoughtlessness against innocent Jews who were celebrating Hanukkah. All Australians of South Asian origin, not just Muslims but even Buddhists, Christians, Hindus and Sikhs, have become easy targets for Neo Nazis, right-wingers against non white migration and White extremists. They had already started to target South Asians, especially Indians, due to their prosperity and hard work, and now it has become worse. Just read what is being stated. I know this as I migrated to Australia a few years ago, as my wife wanted to be close to her sister and her mother and did not regret this.

      R25,
“All Australians of South Asian origin, not just Muslims but even Buddhists, Christians, Hindus and Sikhs, have become easy targets for Neo Nazis, right-wingers against non white migration”
Since you migrated to Australia recently, you probably don’t know that until 1973, you wouldn’t have been accepted under ANY circumstances without 50% white ancestry. And who was making these rules? The very same European colonists who murdered the black indigenous population.
Muslims weren’t radicalised until Europeans broke up the Ottoman Empire and took over Palestine.. European settlers ejected the population from what is now called Israel. Of course they, not the settlers, are the terrorists according to Western media. You are maybe lucky that Australian aboriginals were too disunited and uneducated to put up a fight. Otherwise, there might have been “Abo Terrorists ” bombing “innocent Australian civilians “.

OC I am fully aware of Australia’s history of colonisation, dispossession and white Australia policy. However, modern Australia is now a far cry from what it was in the 50s 60s and early 70s, and a very successful multicultural society and largely tolerant. The only other large Western country I can compare it to is Canada. There a White extremists and neo Nazi, but they are a small minority; however lot of Eurocentric conservatism is more apparent in Queensland and Western Australia and parts of northern rural New South Wales, but the large cities are very cosmopolitan. I can understand the anger of the Palestinian population, Christian and Muslim, as to what happened to them, after the Second World War and thier displacement, but other Muslims? Nothing happened to them, especially the South Asian variety, and no one displaced them or marginalised them, other than their own corrupt rulers and politicians, most of them hand in glove with many right-wing Western regimes. Especially in many Arab nations.

          Rohan,
I am not condoning Islamist extremists, but consider this: If the Christians in their time could walk into an Aboriginal society and object to the natives walking around stark naked, later erasing their culture through a Christian education, why are we condemning Muslims who walk into a now Christian country and want to mould it to their views?

        2

So why does a radicalised South Asian Muslim want to take revenge on innocent Jews in Sydney, Australia, who have not displaced anyone and most of them are descended from holocaust survivors who migrated to Australia after the Second World War? All in the name of Islam and the Islamic state, which is not very Islamic and does not represent actual Islam or Muslims, and has killed far more Muslims than anyone else. As one Palestinian resident of Gaza stated on television, the killing of any innocent is not justified, and these so-called Muslims from faraway lands, who have nothing to do with us or our plight, get radicalised and start killing innocent Jews living in faraway lands in the name of Islam and our name. Did we ask them to? And it is innocent Palestinian civilians like us, not them, who have to face the consequences of these actions here at the hands of Jewish extremists, Zionists and right-wing Western regimes, who use these incidents as an excuse to further repress, kill and displace us further.

      • 10
        2

They do not suffer much in their own lands. And in countries like Australia, which is basically a predominantly white settler colony, that stole the land of the original people, with a recent White only Australia policy, many White extremists/right-wing parties, most of whom are anti-Jewish themselves and Neo Nazis are deliberately linking this uncalled for religious extremism by some South Asian origin Islamic extremists with immigration, especially non white South Asian immigrants, stating they do not assimilate and blend in as an excuse. This unwanted act of Islamic terror on an innocent Jewish population, who had nothing much to do with Israel or Palestine and have not displaced anyone, is now causing so much racial and religious tension in what was a peaceful society. Most Australian Jews support the existence of Israel, but that does not mean most of them support what Nathaneyahu is now doing in Gaza or what is happening to the Palestinian people.

Are you aware that these two, father and son, had draped a huge Islamic state flag on their car and had driven it to Bondi Beach to commit this carnage? People are surprised by how they were able to do this and were not stopped by anyone. As one Muslim stated, the Islamic State does not represent anyone but themselves, and they have a pecking order, where even all Muslims are not equal. The Arab Sunni Muslims are at the top of the pile, especially the males and this too, Arabs or Arabic speakers from certain countries, backgrounds and ethnic origins, like the Levant and ones with no Sub-Saharan African origin. The rest of the Sunni Muslims are cannon fodder to them, especially the ones from South Asia, Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, and Muslims belonging to Shia and other Islamic sects are not Muslims but heretics, even if they are fellow Arabs

Recently media reported some 26000 Jews are well settled in Sri lanka in prime locations while Rohingyas, Maldivians, Syriyans …. were denied visas nor refugee status.

I am thinking, whether we need to verify the genetic component of each citizen if they have at least 50% of Vedda gene.

You know nearly 60% of the population would be subjected to deportation and as a bonus, M. K. Stalin can finally celebrate the return of his “long-lost relatives”.

Readers who went through my past postings would not be surprised by this attack. When those such as “LankaScot” tried to make excuses for Hamas and other terror outfits, I pointed out the fallacy . I have already given the one and only solution to Western governments. Use the Shia to fight against Sunni extremism. Unfortunately, due to the vast oil wealth in the Middle East, the Western governments would rather subsidize the lifestyles of decadent monarchs and dictators, while the latter fund Sunni terrorism throughout the world.

Might is Right is the philosophy used by Western powers in suppressing poor countries and any country that dares to defy its sense of impunity, which includes international courts of justice and the criminal courts. The western powers submit only to greater powers that can overwhelm them. Otherwise they will seek to crush dissent, manufacture consent based on lies and use mainstream media to spew blatant lies in order to maintain their hegemony. Bondi is a classic example of threats against countries that dare to oppose genocide or apartheid etc. Nutnyahoo quickly blamed Iran, the Aussie PM and Hamas for the shootings. He also falsely claimed that the hero was a Jew, in his Hebrew language address to Israelis. Double standards are so starkly practiced that all Muslims are required to apologize for being Muslim before writing about Bondi, and compare the mass scale genocide of hundreds of thousands to just over a dozen juice. Is the exchange rate for Palestinians and juice one to ten thousand?

However, you have been noticed many times coming here and condoning the state-sponsored marginalisation, structural genocide and ethnic cleansing of the island’s Tamils by the Sinhalese state and trivialising it and stating nothing really happened like some cross-dressing Cardinal. What a hypocrite, like many here, who condone what is happening on the island in the name of Sinhalese Buddhism and state might, and majoritarianism is right, as you and then largely benefited from this and condemn the same that Israel does to the Palestinians and say it’s not one, as this does not affect you and you look good. Just read the garbage you have written, justifying the massacre of innocent Australian Jews by the two deranged extremist Indian origin Muslim father and son duo, to what is happening in a faraway land. What have these Jews in Australia done, and how were these two Indian origin Muslims affected by what happened in Palestine? They migrated here like most immigrants to Australi, not from Palestine but from India, and one atrocity does not justify another, especially when they are not connected, and the irony it was not an Arab or Palestinian who committed it, but some Indian or Indian origin, all in the name of radical Islam, and you are supporting this. Disgusting.

Modern Australians now come from various parts of the world, not just White Europeans and live harmoniously and in peace with each other, despite speaking so many languages, following different religions and cultures. The policy is to live and let live, and it is one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world. People generally care for each other and help each other, and are friendly. Of course, the dominant language and culture, and religion is English, Anglo-Celtic and Christianity; but Australians are generally very secular and generally do not like religion being associated with politics, at the workplace, etc. Everyone accepts the English language as the language of Australia and the largely British culture, and law as the main culture and law, as it is very advantageous to them, as English is a world language and is the language of Science and commerce and generally the English law is very fair, and they founded modern Australia and made what modern Australia what it is

  • 12
    2

Of course, all later immigrants, especially post-Second World War European immigrants and recent Asian immigrants from all parts of Asian, West, South, Central, North east and South East Asia and other parts of the world too have now contributed immensely and made modh ern Australia a rich vibrant society and this also includes Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs, from various cultures, countrier, speaking different languages. Nowadays, lots of prominence is given to the original people and thier languages and cultures, recognising their ancient contribution to the land and the grave injustice done to them. Asian Australians are Australians of Asian ancestry, including naturalised Australians who are immigrants from various regions in Asia and descendants of such immigrants. At the 2021 census, the proportion of the population identifying as Asian amounted to 17.4 per cent, with breakdowns of 6.5 per cent from Southern and Central Asia, 6.4 per cent from North-East Asia, and 4.5 per cent from South-East Asia. If you add Western Asian countries like Lebanon, Turkey, the percentage is much higher; however, here Western Asia is incorrectly recognised as the Middle East, a British colonial hangover.

  • 11
    1

Very soon, the percentage of Asian Australians will gradually increase, and it’s inevitable, and it will become a mixed Eurasian society. Lots of professional migration from South and East Asian countries, and they are very hardworking and successful, and this annoys many White supremacists, Neo Nazis and poor whites who have been left behind, thinking it is these Asian immigrants who are the cause of their plight, when in reality it is themselves, but as usual love to scapegoat. The important thing is Australia is that when various waves of migrants arrive, they largely leave their conflicts, prejudices, wars, and religious fanaticism and prejudices aside and try to get along with each other, or at least exist in harmony or a peaceful coexistence, even if they do not like certain immigrants or people. They may demonstrate and show concern about what is happening to their people in their original homeland and for the reason why they fled canvass support, but this is done in a very peaceful non non-violent way, as we all know, we all came from somewhere and have come here to have a good life in peace and harmony, and to bring over our various conflicts, prejudices and religious baggage, from which we fled from to make a life here and make life here a living hell. Imagine if Serbs start bombing Croats, Irish fighting with English, Ukrainians with Russians, Sri Lankan Tamils with Sinhalese, Palestinians with Jews. Start bombing their cultural centres, places of worship.

Australia will not be a paradise anymore, but a living hell. If we do not agree or like someone, we just do not move with them, and treat them with respect and courtesy when we meet and or work together and at times become good friends. One of my workmates is Jewish, and her best friend at work is a Palestinian. I am very friendly on a personal level with lots of Sinhalese here. This is the reason we do not like this radical Islamic extremism and violence, or White Neo Nazi extremism, creating all this deliberate violence, killings against other innocent Australians belonging to other faiths and races in the name of race, religion or things happening in faraway lands from which, we have escaped and fled from and deliberatley creating tension and disharmony, racial and religious, where there was not any and making life another hell hole here, just like the hell hole from which we fled from and other idiots applauding this and justifying this.

Just because me and other Tamils or our parents have fled state and LTTE sponsored violence against the island’s Tamils to the west, inculding Australia, does not give us the right or justify me or other Tamils commiting violence against innocent Sinhalese immigrants in these lands, burning their places of worship or mass killing them in the name of what is happening back home or vice versa. So how can you justify these radicalised Indian origin Muslims killing innocent Australian Jews in the name of Palestinian Arab Muslims, with whom they have nothing in common, other than the slender thread of Islam, with regards to what is happening in a land thousands of kilometers from Australia and has nothing to do with them and creating all this chaos and hatred and an excuse for Neo Nazis and White racists to demonise non white non Christian Australians and immigrants?

  • 11
    2

If they want to do this, they should not migrate to a successful multicultural Western, largely Christian country or to any Christian or non Muslim land for the good life, but to some radical Islamic land, or to Palestine or fight there, instead of creating violence, chaos and hatred here, which directly and indirectly affects many innocent lives, including the lives of many innocest fellow Muslims in Australia who are peacefully living their lives. Imagine the fear they must be now feeling, whilst some idiots here, some even living in Australia, are part of the cheering squad and justifying what has happened. Are you aware that a poor young Australian of Pakistani origin who had the same name as the younger killer, same age and looked similar, was trolled on Facebook, with his picture circulated everywhere as the killer and received many violent death threats? Nothing much was done about this.

  • 12

How will this innocent Australian Muslim from Pakistan feel? When he was happily living peacefully in Australia, to see his life being unravelled and now living in fear for his life, due to some act of violence that has been committed in the name of Islam by two extremist nut cases? Thank god an Arab Muslim and a Sikh risked their own lives to disarm these madmen, and one even got shot critically, this tempered down the hatred a lot. They can commit all this violence and go to heaven to 72 Virgins, the younger one will not, but his life will now be a living hell, and make other innocent people’s lives a living hell. What sort of father brainwashes his son to commit all this violence and killings in the name of religion? I am a father and will never do this to my son.

In the last 10-15 years, the world has woken up to Israeli terrorism towards the Palestinian people. We see it every day on the news. The Western press points this out very clearly, and much is being done by admins. like the US, to find a permanent and lasting solution to the crisis.

Bondi attack however, is a horrifying act done by Islamist Jihadist terrorists. It has no meaning behind it, creates no solutions, and is fueled solely on absolute revenge against Jews.

The Jews in Australia are not in Israel taking up Palestinian land. They are Jews who have fled to other countries other than Israel because of the terrible discrimination they have faced in mostly European countries.

Muslim madrasses need to teach a humane and intellectual Juhadism, one that gives understand, love, peace, and unity to its followers. What a disgrace for Islam otherwise.

“The Jews in Australia are not in Israel taking up Palestinian land. They are Jews who have fled to other countries other than Israel because of the terrible discrimination they have faced in mostly European countries.”

I believe you are wrong. Just lookup “Israeli Real Estate Events” in various locales to see how Palestinian land is being offered up for sale in Western countries.

Seeing the actions of Israelis toward their neighbors, I begin to wonder exactly why these people were so hated in the lands of their birth and drummed out. Even today, I see no European/Western (or indeed ANY country generously offering up refuge and solace to these self-described suffering peoples .. Sri Lanka may be an exception and we’d better start getting ready to pack up our collective bags and walk into the sea when they decide this too, was promised by God. !!

      • 11
        2

How do you know all this? Nothing better to do than checking Israelo Real Estate Events? Why are you another Islamic fanatic masquerading here as a Mongolian Throat Singer? Why Mongolian Throat Singing ? You can sing an Urdu Ghazal. There may be a small percentage of Zionist Jewish fanatics and organisations in the West who may purchase these Palestinian lands, but the vast overwhelming majority of Jews in the West do not care or are not interested in purchasing any land in Palestine or around that area. In fact, it is the opposite; lots of Jews from Israel are migrating to Australia and other Western countries, as they are sick of all the violence and do not want to live there anymore. One swallow does not make a summer, and a small number of fanatical Western Zionists purchasing Palestinian lands does not excuse the mass killing of innocent Australian Jews celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach by two Islamic extremists of Indian origin, not even Arab, and you justifying this atrocious act and condoning it, with these lame excuses. Why were all these Australian Jews killed in Bondi, who were also purchasing land in Palestine, so deserving to be killed? Stick to Mongolian Throat singing and drinking camel and horse milk, and you can pack your bags and return to Mongolia.

        Hello MTS,
If Sri Lankans keep calling this Country Paradise, or likening it to the Garden of Eden then you may be right. Maybe they will claim Balangoda Man as the original Adam, much to Native’s chagrin.

          LS,
This tripartite crew, consisting of Lester, The Truth, and Hairy Deepthi, are still being paid by unseen groups to wreck the lovely island. Caution: Their gaslighting methods. The Southern Highway and other roadways may have puzzled the nation, but what is the true cause of today’s earth slides over the country’s steep terrain? Rajapkashes has undoubtedly employed these guys and ladies. However, they can win their falsehoods indefinitely.
Today, the effects of so-called “high-way projects” across the country are in front of the entire country.
Some countries, by nature, would not have been ideal for continual tremouring to create new highway projects.
The consequences are excellent earth slides in places where monsoon rains fall on a regular basis.

            Hello leelagemalli,
The type of soil round here is mostly what is called Laterite Soil. Weathered Metamorphic rocks are the main constituent and have a very low shear strength when heavily saturated. These types of soil also have a high porosity and permeability. With little clay content they are unstable and are easily washed away.
This in addition to the fact that many houses are built on the edge of slopes, with shallow foundations that don’t reach the bedrock, has also contributed to the losses. I have seen very little shoring of roads that are built on the sides of the hills and mountains. In three places our narrow road has been undercut by the rainwater, leaving big gaps under the thin layer of concrete. Anything heavier than a Tuktuk is very risky.
There are many houses left in precarious situations that only need another rainstorm to destroy them.. Even if the techniques are available to save them, getting the equipment and materials up to them is hazardous.
Today there were long traffic queues in Gelioya due to Clearing Operations. The Local Salon Owner told me that the Water reached halfway up the upper storey (about 15ft).
            Best regards

              Thank you Mr LS.
I believe that the previous government did not adequately conduct feasibility assessments on the construction of highways in our nation, Sri Lanka, but they authorized it without the cooperation of qualified geologists. If you, Mr. LS, had traveled across Switzerland on your own, as a well-known person who has visited many nations, you would have seen that their roadways were built in their manner, with long-held conservations over their steep terrains. However, impoverished developing countries like Sri Lanka do not have many specialists, and if they do, they are prejudiced and politically orientated rather than being true to international truths. Meaning, I assume, that by constantly trembling before paving the highways using advanced means, they have produced man-made catastrophes that would undoubtedly speed up the landslides.
Thanks for all of the information; I’m simply sorry I can’t help as much as I intend, but I’ll organize some collections through my colleagues/aquaintance to help some families in the Badulla area and several other locations we’ve learned about through our students. I do this on behalf of my mother’s foundation, which I established after she died. I also appreciate you for the outstanding work you stated you performed for the people in the neighborhood. May your forthcoming Christmas bring you relaxation and joy. We will be in Frankfurt am Main for the Christmas holidays.

Mr LS, Recently, I read somewhere that you mentioned “RODIAS” in SL. Lester’s features and misbehaviours are quite similar to those of RODIAS, since Lester made an attempt to stand out by disparaging you, me, and OC repeatedly throughout the months. Now, for some terrible reason related to his mental illness, he may be a bit mute, but the accusations he made against you were not based on facts. I am ashamed to be a sirlankens after reading such harsh statements from him. For your information, I have added a link where you may learn more about RODIAs in Sri Lanka… and how they typically act in the Lankan community.

            Hello Leelagemalli,
Here is an interesting Paper on how flooding was handled in the past in Sri Lanka –
            https://www.semanticscholar.org/reader/12c3615a5829ac0226c53dfb592ca71e70c997af
“Traditional Water Governance Practices for Flood Mitigation in Ancient Sri Lanka”. Ramona will be pleased to see how clever these Iron Age Engineers were.
The Paper also answers the question of the Summit Water Storage at Sigiriya – “King’s palace and the rock garden were located on the three-acre rock summit area about 360mabove the sea level [43]. Roofs were designed to collect and transport rainwater to the main water storage area. A drainage outlet was constructed to dispose excess water and prevent flooding. The surface area was terraced with the western side as the highest point.”
            Best regards

              I appreciate the link,dear LS.
You seem more interested in figuring out why they acted like paralyzed leaders.
The death toll from the catastrophic flood might have been reduced to less than 50 instead of 650 or more if the NPP government had taken the proper action.
Nonetheless, the current government has not acknowledged its shortcomings in failing to identify the most vulnerable populations residing in Gampola and other severely impacted places, where some of them have still to be located. This is all about the New Dawn government and its preventative measures, which they failed to implement despite their loud lips, even if they now boast about their president’s restless nights since the death toll began to increase.

            Hello Native,
I read a recent Paper about the Vedda Mitochondrial and Y Chromosome DNA. It looks like the Vedda women are probably part of the oldest migration from Africa and are related to some of the Indian Tribes that also have similar DNA. As the Paper points out “Our autosomal analyses suggest a close genetic link of Vedda with the tribal populations of India despite no evidence of close linguistic affinity, thus suggesting a deep genetic link of the Vedda with these populations.
            https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1567724924000424
The Paper is called “The genetic identity of the Vedda: A language isolate …”
Another Paper quite bluntly says that “Present-day Indigenous peoples of the island, the Adivasi, are proposed to have descended from early inhabitants of the region, while urban populations like the Sinhalese, the major ethnic group on the island, migrated from India in historical times.”
            https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12242918/
Isn’t it strange that the oldest Human remains in this area were found in Sri Lanka? Maybe your ancestors were amongst the first Ocean-going Sailors?

Will you advise the Saffron clad thugs to follow importance of love, nonviolence, ….. and bit of awakened one’s teaching?

        “nimal fernando loves Pranbaharan”

I’m strong in the good ol’ “mental constitution,” to look in the face of truth, of anything, and accept it.

I, a Sinhalese, can see the truth of what Prabakaran tried to achieve ……… however crazy and blood soaked …….. it may have been.

I don’t love Prabakaran. I used to love gals ……. now only lust remains.

Your idol Ranil loves boys. Ranil loves Prabakaran: he’s bent that way. That’s why Ranil signed a ‘Peace Treat’ with Prabakaran on bended knees.

The truth is the truth. However much you keep distorting the truth ……. it doesn’t become the new truth.

Why don’t you spend your time on more worthwhile tasks? :)))

“Comparing Bondi to Gaza and the West Bank reveals several interlocking double standards.”
This is not the first and this is not the last. This is the world we are living and who is good or who is bad or who is right or who is wrong is unknown because we are also with double or tribble standards or do not know which side is good for me. We say we love our religion because we are slaves of religion. If the Religion give you financial benefits we are happy to change to the religion. Most of the SriLakan leaders changed from buddhism to Christianity to get financial benefit and. changed again to Buddhism because that gave you power. All the religions came to Sri Lanka from external powers. To day the whole Sri Lanka destroyed by this religions. Even the NPP who now says one Sri Lanka but still want to the religious power which is used to kill the people.
