When The Opposition Preaches Good Governance: The Hypocrisy Of Those Who Destroyed It

By Asoka S. Seneviratne –

Prof. Asoka.S. Seneviratne

“When a nation is ruled not by men but by law, even the powerful must tremble before justice.” — Adapted from Montesquieu

The joint opposition in Sri Lanka recently declared that it will center its campaign on issues like governance, corruption, and democratic decline — the very principles it spent decades undermining. It is a shocking display of political hypocrisy. Those who corrupted public institutions, backed criminals, and weakened democracy now claim moral superiority. But the people of Sri Lanka are no longer deceived by empty slogans and recycled promises.

Before AKD: When Governance Was a Marketplace of Corruption

For decades, the parties now united as the “joint opposition” (i.e., Remnants of the political Tsunami/general election in Sri Lanka in 2024) presided over one of the most corrupt political eras in Sri Lanka’s history. Under their rule, governance was not about service — it was about survival and enrichment at the cost of the poor.

From 2005 to 2022, Sri Lanka’s ranking in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) fell from 84th to 101st place, reflecting a deep deterioration in governance standards. State-owned enterprises accumulated over Rs. 1.5 trillion in debt, much of it due to political mismanagement and loss-making contracts awarded to cronies.

When corruption scandals erupted, inquiries turned into political theatre. Files disappeared, evidence was suppressed, and honest officials were transferred. Government ministries became fiefdoms of power; appointments were sold; tenders were manipulated.

Governance became a private enterprise, and democracy, a façade. Yet these are the same political forces that now claim to “defend good governance.” History, however, clearly remembers: they had every chance to build a fair system, but instead destroyed it.

Democracy Manipulated, Not Defended

During their years in power, today’s opposition leaders manipulated democratic institutions to maintain control. Elections were postponed, commissions were politicized, and constitutional amendments were tailored to personal ambitions.

The 19th and 20th Amendments, rather than strengthening checks and balances, became tools of manipulation. Independent commissions, once symbols of public trust, were dismantled or rendered powerless.

Their version of democracy was one where justice depended on loyalty, and dissent was punished. Media houses that exposed corruption were threatened or silenced. The democratic decline they now lament began long before AKD — and under their watch.

The AKD Difference: A Government Governed by Law, Not Men

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s administration represents a decisive break from this corrupt past. For the first time in decades, Sri Lanka is governed not by rulers, but by law. This government is not built around personalities — it is built on institutions.

President Dissanayake has made it clear that no individual — however powerful — is above the law. Investigations into corruption and misuse of power are being pursued with independence. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has been revitalized; long-shelved cases are being reopened.

The Public Service Commission and the National Police Commission have been strengthened, ensuring appointments are based on merit, not political favor. This restoration of institutional integrity is precisely what the opposition cannot tolerate — because it dismantles the system that once protected them.

Fear of Accountability: The True Motive Behind the Opposition’s Outcry

The joint opposition’s campaign is not about reform; it is about self-preservation. As investigations into bribery, fraud, and abuse of office progress, many of its members and allies now face scrutiny. They claim political persecution, but the reality is that they are being held accountable under the same laws they ignored. For the first time, the process is transparent and non-political. The rule of law is finally impartial — and that terrifies them. Before they are prosecuted, found guilty, and kept behind bars, they want to topple the government AKD.

When justice becomes fair, those who relied on privilege feel endangered. That is the true motive behind their outcry over “governance failures.”

What Has the Opposition Done in the Past Year?

Opposition leaders repeatedly ask, “What has the AKD government achieved in one year?” But the more relevant question is — what has the opposition done?

A responsible opposition in a democracy should propose policies, support anti-corruption reforms, and ensure constructive checks on power. Yet over the past year, the joint opposition has done none of these. They bark occasionally to show their presence.

Instead, it has criticized every reform — from fiscal transparency to administrative discipline. When the government cut wasteful expenditure, they called it “dictatorial.” When it cracked down on tax evasion, they cried “anti-business.”

When the President acted to remove political appointees and clean up state enterprises, they accused him of vendetta. But the public knows better — the opposition’s noise is not about defending democracy; it’s about protecting its privileges.

A President Who Confronts the Underworld and the Drug Menace

Among President Dissanayake’s top national priorities is the eradication of the underworld and the drug menace — two cancers that have corroded the nation’s moral and social foundations.

For decades, the drug trade flourished under political protection. According to the Sri Lanka Police Narcotics Bureau (2024 Annual Report), over 85% of major narcotics operations during the past decade had links to politically connected networks. Successive governments turned a blind eye, allowing crime and politics to intertwine.

President Dissanayake’s administration has taken this battle head-on. In just one year, over 12,000 arrests have been made related to organized crime and narcotics trafficking. Large-scale raids in Colombo, Gampaha, and Southern provinces dismantled smuggling operations once thought untouchable.

But for the President, this is not merely a law-and-order issue. It is a moral crusade to cleanse the nation’s future — to ensure that children grow up in a society free from fear, violence, and addiction.

A Nation’s Children Deserve Peace and Safety

Every kilogram of narcotics seized is not just a victory for the police — it is a victory for every Sri Lankan family. Every underworld figure brought to justice is a message that law and decency prevail.

The President’s vision is simple yet profound: to build a country where children can walk safely to school, where families live without fear, and where opportunity replaces crime.

No doubt, he will succeed — because this is not a political promise, but a national duty. Sri Lanka’s next generation deserves to inherit a country of peace, not peril; of justice, not corruption.

Rebuilding What Was Destroyed

The AKD government inherited a broken economy and a disillusioned nation. Public debt exceeded 128% of GDP by 2022; state revenue was at its lowest since independence. Confidence in governance was near zero.

In one year, the government has made visible progress:

* Wasteful expenditure reduced by 17%,

* Tax compliance up 22%,

* Revenue transparency improved through digital monitoring of procurement,

* And over 40 stalled corruption investigations have been reopened.

These are not populist moves — they are foundational reforms. Real governance change happens quietly, not theatrically. The AKD administration’s steady rebuilding of institutions marks the start of a long, disciplined recovery.

The Opposition’s Moral Void

The joint opposition, in contrast, remains morally bankrupt. Having betrayed governance, encouraged corruption, and manipulated democracy, it cannot now pretend to defend them

Their politics is driven not by principle but by fear — fear of accountability, fear of justice, and fear of irrelevance in a new era where power no longer guarantees protection.

Every accusation they make against the AKD government exposes their own hypocrisy. Those who normalized corruption cannot now preach integrity. Those who silenced democracy cannot now cry for its defense.

A Defining Moment in National Renewal

Sri Lanka stands today at a defining juncture — between the failed politics of the past and the moral renewal of the present. Under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s leadership, governance is shifting from privilege to principle, from impunity to justice, and from disorder to discipline.

The road ahead will not be easy. Resistance from the old order is expected. But the people understand that genuine transformation demands courage, not compromise.

As the President continues his relentless fight against corruption, organized crime, and drugs, he is reshaping the moral compass of the nation. His message is clear: Sri Lanka will no longer be ruled by men — it will be governed by law.

Summary: The Moral Divide between the Past and the Present

The joint opposition’s campaign on governance, corruption, and democracy is a hollow echo of its own failures. It seeks to erase public memory and rewrite history. But the truth remains undeniable: they, not the AKD government, destroyed these values.

In contrast, President Dissanayake’s administration represents a rebirth of integrity — a political culture in which law stands above politics and power serves the people, not personal gain.

His unwavering commitment to end corruption, dismantle the underworld, and eliminate the drug menace is not just a government initiative — it is a moral vision for a safer, just, and peaceful Sri Lanka.

The opposition governed to protect itself. The AKD government governs to preserve the nation.
And that is why — despite the noise, resistance, and inherited chaos — President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will not fail.
Because he stands on the strongest foundation of all: the rule of law, the trust of the people, and the promise of a better future for generations to come.

    My dear Professor,

You say “From 2005 to 2022, Sri Lanka’s ranking in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) fell from 84th to 101st place”
According to Transparency International’s 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Sri Lanka scored 32 out of 100 and ranked 121st out of 180 countries.
Shall we wait a few months and see if the JVP has brought the ranking up to at least 50? Then we can talk about it.

“Shall we wait a few months and see if the JVP has brought the ranking up to at least 50?”

Do you think it is possible given that Sri Lankans love their kith and kin, extended relation, friends, neighbours, … colleagues dearly?

You speak the truth Prof. Asoka.S. Seneviratne.

    There’s nothing more to say.

Not many have the capacity to handle the truth.

The entire history of man ………….. is a looooong testament to that. :)))

In 2015, the minorities thought the Government of M.S + RW was going to bring in the good governance.
They did not walk the talk. Bribery corruption etc continued leading to easter bombing resulting in GOTA headed government. The minorities wish is for AKD to succeed in the TURNOVER of our Island into peaceful harmonious multinational united one. Hopefully, he is provided adequate security against hired gunmen.
We need to change the way political party RALLIES are organised. We should not allow the organisers to provide food parcels+money +arrack bottle + free transport as the cost finally comes from the politicians stollen money. The jails should not be used for the drug addicts but for the drug dealers.
There should be no elections for some time [atleast 2 or 3 years.

      Dear Readers,
I believe that trying to be cleaner than other politicians but not being able to demonstrate their cleanliness in the ruling party is a waste. Even some professors at Lanken Universities, in my opinion, are not clean if audits are conducted closely. The latest update reveals that the former speaker with a long beard, who promised to produce his own doctorate certificate, has been reduced to the status of silent backbencher in their current parliament. Alas, AKD is fully naked today.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7SqpcJqnWA
To be honest, nothing is on their way today, except for the usual popularity blame games. If anyone with a sane mind closely examined the system, they would notice no tangible changes.
However, their mandate can be useful if they implement better reforms and new laws to address inequalities in this country. And they are demonstrably incapable of performing even minor tasks, let alone wonders. The situation is similar to patient care, but the panel doctors make no real efforts to save the patient’s life, leaving relatives helpless.
You act as if you were born and raised in Canada, where your children live today. Ironically, this is the very nature of all barbarian-Jeppos who sought greener pastures in the West and other wealthy countries.

      Douglas Aiya thanks

Why hasn’t AKD’s team of investigators thrown a few crooks in remand custody even though there were allegation of cheating foreign investors?

I wonder if our mate nimal fernando knows about the case.

        NV,
Lies rule this country today, but those who lied shamelessly have behaved like mice in front of onion farmers and opposition candidates like Dr. Harsha de Silva. The ignorant country would now understand why BIGKUCHCIN, also known as Handunett, the NPP’s self-declared economist, did everything in his power to thwart any talks about the faltering economy prior to their election as rulers.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ2vDepE-FM

Chanturanga, the digital coach, has become a minion of Harsha De Silva. All others except stinky woman Lakmali do not appear in press briefings. Bimal Ratnayka, Watagala, Lalkantha, Hewage, and many others are banned or restricted to press briefings. Only a year after clean-politicians took over, they have proven to be masters at spreading hatred more than anything else. Is this a real “system change”? It took decades for our barbarian-promoters, such as Douglas from Habaraduwa, to recognize that Jeppos are the true curse of this sinking nation.

I believe the President should think twice before making a media appearance because it is a very sensitive issue that affects the lives of elderly people. According to what I’ve learned so far, almost nothing is done for the greater good. Not even the “clean Sri Lanka project” is made known to rural residents.
They are good at misleading the average person, but their politics are impractical.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj1JlQ62bas
From top to bottom, they must make every effort to defend themselves against the loud and blatant lies they have spread. AKD is nothing more than a man who, like a young boy, screamed for power. However, he is shameless and inexperienced.

The banner in the photo in the CT front page says ……. “LET’S DEFEAT THE CONSTITUTIONAL DICTATORSHIP”

And the stellar group lined up below speaks volumes …….. to a rational mind.

Native will demonstrate without any difficulty ……… rational minds ……. and …… Lankans are mutually exclusive.

Gotta feel Lankans are slowly ……. nudged ……. towards a form of rudimentary rationality ……….

One step forward ……. two steps back …… one step …..

    That’s the “intellectuals/elites” ……… the rest, God/DTG help them!

Do Lankans wake up every day and do nothing but deceive themselves?

And spend the rest of the time ……. to find excuses to defend it?

Let me tell ya ……. the only ones who are not deceived …… are the ones seated in the front row!

    Truth is stranger than fiction.

Someday I’m gonna make a movie about it ……… Vip already has a script …..

      Thank you Mr nimal fernando.

” “What has the AKD government achieved in one year?””

The most appropriate question should be has the AKD government destroyed any of the remaining democratic structures?
      Not yet.
Hopefully AKD and like minded liberals within the party would nudge the conservative old guards from powerful policy making committees and ministries. People of this country do not want to see the country being destroyed by another set of Weeping Widow’s old policies.

There is a minority which shouts and screams of impending elected dictatorship being imposed by AKD because lots of drug dealers being arrested and charged. This minority was silent when all kind of violation of democratic rights over the past 75 odd years. They take up championing democratic rights and democracy when they are in opposition while in power they took every opportunity to destroy democracy and democratic rights.

I don’t think nimal fernando ever would have supported Stalinists, Mavoist, Sirimaoists, Kimists, Hoxhaists, …. Marxists, … Therefore hopefully nimal fernando will remain a guardian of democracy.

Hitler’s Germany is the best example of a Goebell-style public statement going viral. The contents of the rhetoric do not matter, but it spreads like wildfire with little or no opposition from the people.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kj9e7vL0u0
Before the election of the NPP government, the situation was as follows. Whatever big lie AKD planted through his exaggerations became public perception, surpassing levels in Hitler’s Germany. This isn’t the first time Sri Lankans have fallen into the same pit. Gotabaya, a former petrolshed assistant and survival jobber, rose to the position of gladiator-style leader among the very people who voted for him, regardless of the facts. Main catalysts included artists and media fraudsters.

Even if promised sky-high, the current government has demonstrated its inability to deliver even 5% of them within the first year.
There are a few ministers and parliamentarians who should have been removed from parliament long ago, but the AKD leadership has remained silent on the issue.
Bimal Rathanyaka, Ranwala, Wasantha Samarasinghe, Hewage, Lakmali, and a few others fall into this category. If Ranjan Ramanayaka is jailed by the same judiciary, why is it that Lakamli, a minister, is treated with impunity for her public remarks on “court decisions”? Experts remain as if their senses are completely blocked.

When The Opposition Preaches Good Governance: The Hypocrisy Of Those Who Destroyed It

Sri Lankans in general do not want to see their failures easily.

They don’t use criticism to improve their processes. The average person does not tolerate anything and dreams of a better system, which I believe is contradictory. In fact, designing a “healthy citizen” should be the approach. I could not believe my eyes when I saw how current parliamentarians challenged their opposition in public. The majority of them are as swollen as any others. From president to lower-level politicians, none have the necessary experience or qualifications to carry out their duties. They do not follow through on their promises. The reaction of the first citizen demonstrates telling something and then doing the exact opposite. This is a deplorable situation.

. It is largely influenced by the average person’s psychology. Bus drivers and kiosk holders all act like pundits and thugs. There are numerous traffic violations on the roads. Tourists are hurt on the spot and are unable to tolerate or become accustomed to it during their brief stay, but this culture persists.

They are all victims of the “Dunning-Kruger effect”. They overate them repeatedly. The facts stand regardless of what the norms say.
Doctors, engineers, and science researchers share the belief that they do not want to listen to others.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJr8xhnMU88
This does not apply to everyone, but the majority of them are like that.

During an official visit to UK , Health minister Nalinda has reportedly
made a ” passionate ” call for the specialist doctors living in there to
return to Srilanka as there is a severe specialist shortage in the country .
JVP screamed on their election and other rallies that they feel the pulse of
the common man and understand their problems . Is this how they
understand it ? How can any man of common sense expect someone , never
mind who , to come down from a far better position to a black hole ?
Once you get uset to a better living standard , you never want to return back
to a low stndard that you gave up in frustration or for any other reason . An
MBBS Nalin holding is , surely not enough to judge a man’s mind .

Thank you for your comment. I no longer read many of the comments on CT-forum because the majority of them are heavily biased.
Some people just want to stand out by upvoting their own comments in this forum, where less than 3% of Sri Lankans read. Overall, I believe that Lankens, regardless of their geographical location, will not see the big picture.
Not only the Minister of Health, but many other ministers and MPs, have been unable to face the audience as of today. Nalin Hewage, Bimal Rathanayaka, Namal Karunaratne, Wasantha Smarasinghe, Lal Kantha, Lakmali, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, and even Premier HA are all either avoiding the press or making an effort to appear less in public as of date.

WW, thank you. I’ve been there for the past 15 years or so. It could have been since the website’s inception. However, I have been living outside of the country since then, with only 1-2 trips back home each year. More emphasis is now being placed on merit collection through charitable activities. I was also there in October for the last time. I interact with various layers of society in order to gather information for my own benefit. I simply don’t trust youtubers or mainstream media in our country. So I always try to enlighten by relying on a variety of sources. This time, I realized that people are even more unhappy than they were during Gota’s period.

Power is in the hands of those who have . They are the ones capable of doing
more things than that don’t have . It is only a natural phenomenon . The whole
world is in a debt trap with no mathematical solution . It is calculated that the
moment The US pays back the trillions it owes to the creditors , the world
economy collapse . Reasons multi faceted . We are here talking about good
governance , its friends and enemies as if nothing else is going round in the other
parts of the world . Even the oil rich Saudi is in debt , why ? Simple answer is , it is
Designed to be so . Another view of some economic eperts are that the whole of
US debt , from the beginning itself , was not designed to pay back . This is where
the world is today . And we ? Looking for Virgin Politics ? NPP and JVP are

They came calling everyone else “thieves,” but they have now proven to be true thieves, as well as the king of liars about all obvious facts. How can they have such thick skin? Is this due to their upbringing?
              [edited out]
I can tolerate almost anything, but telling someone something and then doing the exact opposite is beyond my comprehension. They make every effort to make people forget July 2022 until September 21, 2024 for their own lucrative gains, which are to steal all of RW’s and his small cabinet’s hard work and transfer it to the AKD leadership. For example, whenever today’s men brag about anything, they shamelessly claim that their government provided people with fuel, medicine, and other necessities, thereby normalizing the situation. The truth is that by the time AKD took over, the bankrupted state was no longer present; thanks to Mr RW and his small cabinet, the country’s forex reserves had increased to $6 billion USD. Remember ?

              whywhy,

Those are just the usual platitudes and innuendos of JVP/NPP detractors.

You will have more credibly if you have pointed out with the same vigour lies and deceptions of Ranil too!

It would be more honest for you to just say “I’m a Ranil supporter who just don’t like the JVP/NPP.”

JVP increased the salaries by a significant amount and cut vat on some items that affect mostly the poor. These would’ve been against IMF imposed austerity measures negotiated with Ranil.

Except for a very few the JVP/NPP parliamentarians are mostly well qualified people …….. although lacking political experience.

They have used the President’s Fund to help the needy: unlike Ranil who helped himself and his band of crooks. BTW Ranil still has the 2 armour-plated Mercs he imported for himself during the bankruptcy. AKD gave them back to him. :))))

The JVP/NPP is serving the nation without most of the insane extravagant perks and privileges that Ranil bestowed on his do-nothing crooks! :)))

Of course they are not perfect: no one is. But JVP/NPP government is by far the best government in living memory!

And that’s a true fact of reality obvious to a rational mind.

Native will easily demonstrate rational minds and Lankans are mutually exclusive. :)))

    whywhy,

    1/2,

“It is only a natural phenomenon .”

The problem isn’t the $38 trillion itself. It’s the interest being paid to service it. As of September the U.S. spent $1.21 trillion to maintain the debt—17% of total federal spending in fiscal year 2025.

“Even for the world’s biggest economy, the debt mountain that America has accumulated is eye-watering. The problem isn’t the $38 trillion itself. In fact, the trading of government debt is the basis of the bond market, a pillar of the global economy. Rather, it’s the interest being paid to service it. As of September the U.S. spent $1.21 trillion to maintain the debt—17% of total federal spending in fiscal year 2025. That interest rate is also increasing over time. Just a couple of years ago, in 2021, the rate of repayment by the U.S. government was, on average, 1.61%. Now it’s 3.36%.”

    2/2,

“It is calculated that the moment The US pays back the trillions it owes to the creditors , the world economy collapse .”

“The claim that the US paying back its debt would cause the world economy to collapse is a misunderstanding of how sovereign debt works; a sudden, complete repayment is not a realistic or desired scenario, and the global financial system relies on US debt as a safe asset. Instead, a US debt default would be catastrophic, triggering a global financial crisis because the US Treasury market is a foundation of global finance, and millions of individuals and institutions hold these securities as safe investments.”

“Even the oil rich Saudi is in debt , why ?”

“Saudi Arabia is in debt primarily due to high spending on ambitious diversification projects as part of its Vision 2030 plan, while low oil prices have reduced its primary source of revenue. The government needs oil prices above $90 a barrel to balance its budget, and a drop in oil prices to below this level has created significant budget deficits, forcing it to rely on debt to finance its long-term goals. “

“Cull the experts …….. if Lanka wants to get anywhere ……..”

Its too late, you should have started from
Junius Richard Jayewardene 1947 to Ranil Wickremesinghe september 2024, including
      Felix Dias Bandaranaike,
      N. M. Perera,
      Ronnie de Mel
      Banda Wijetunga,
      Ravi Karunanayake,
      Mahinda Rajapaksa,
      Basil Rajapaksa
      Ali Sabry, ….
      …..
Throughout Rajapaksa’s reign Basil was the Finance Minister who learned his trade under Dutta Gamani during JR’s regime.

        NV,
The populace is now questioning why even a “coconut husk” can be elected president of this island, where everyone is just like a mercy cow.

The video that follows will demonstrate how some myth promoters mistreat and control the thinking of childless individuals after they get married. How susceptible their mindsets are—AKD-led Sri Lanka has accomplished nothing more than wasting more time. They will break records in the coming days as inflation rises because the current state of affairs has demonstrated that they are incapable of having a leader’s brain. Since AKD’s performance is so much worse than Gota and Sirisena’s, people now respect them more.

Since Native is silent ……. and not countering Goebbels.

Someone gotta speak the truth for the sake of the country. :))))

For those …….. that reality matters.

          hallucinatory vs. real

Sri Lanka’s economy is recovering in 2025, with a projected growth of about (4.5% – 4.8%), supported by steady growth in services and a modest rebound in industry. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has noted strong program performance, positive inflation, and increasing reserves, although the recovery is not yet complete and faces risks from trade policy uncertainty and geopolitical tensions.

Economic growth:  The economy is projected to grow by approximately (4.5% – 4.8%) in 2025, with a strong performance in the first half of the year.

Growth is being driven by the services and industry sectors, while agriculture has shown a contraction in the first quarter.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecasts slightly lower growth of (3.9%) for 2025, while the World Bank projects (4.6%).

        Dear Readers,
What became of the JVP policies that were envisioned for this nation’s farmers?

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1GVrUGuUrc

Farmers who grow onions are angry because they are currently unable to repay the loans they took out to fund their operations. They are unable to sell their harvest today for the price they had hoped for. These farmers were misled into thinking that JEPPOS would support them and their concerns. But as of right now, not even at the end of their first year in power, all of these have turned into water droplets hitting a heating plate.

Joseph Goebbels had a disability from childhood polio that resulted in a deformed right foot and one leg being shorter than the other, causing him to limp. This condition, likely a form of congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot), prevented him from being accepted for military service in World War I. He walked with a limp throughout his life, wearing a special shoe and a metal brace to support his leg.

Yes, polio can affect the brain, particularly the brainstem and spinal cord, leading to severe complications like paralysis.

For Buddha’s sakes man, Native …… hope you don’t walk with a limp! …… Mental limp? Limp towards Ranil’s side?

Since you’re obsessed with nuts …… you’d wish you had this instead ………. Adolf had an undescended right testicle, a condition called cryptorchidism :))))

It is now evident that the drug network was unknown to the previous government.
How did they manage to obtain passports so easily?
Drug houses and dead bodies were discovered, yet the former government claimed to know nothing.
There were warning signs before these incidents, but no action was taken.
Muslims were targeted in Aluthgama and Teldeniya to distract the public and cover up corrupt business activities.
Now, the detained drug lords are revealing who was truly behind it all.
