By Ameer Ali –

Dr. Ameer Ali
It was in 1980s when Global North was caught in a whirlpool of rising inflation, unemployment and falling rates of profit – an economic phenomenon called stagflation – triggered by the oil crisis, that entrepreneurs were looking for greener pastures to invest their capital and management strategies at least to prevent further decline in profit levels. China’s conversion to a market economy, dissolution of the Soviet Union, re-unification of Germany, and above all a new wave of technological and electronic innovations came to the rescue. George H. W. Bush exuberantly announced that a New World Order had come into place and territorial borders were becoming increasingly porous. The neoliberal philosophy of deregulation, privatization, and free market became the magical economic mantra of economists and diplomats. From 1990s, rising levels of trade and investments and proliferation of Transnational Corporations became the visible identities of globalization, and to Francis Fukuyama it marked the “End of History”.
Although this borderless world was meant chiefly to promote financial mobility, cross border investments and trade flow with little or no restrictions, the demand for skilled and unskilled labour in Global North and in oil rich countries also gave a boost to the movement of people from Global South. In addition to the Northern pull factor there were also push factors from the South such as grinding poverty and political and social unrest that encouraged this migration. US, UK, EU and Australia in particular, became favoured destinations. Unlike in the Middle East, Global North was prepared to accept this peripatetic labour on long term contracts and even prepared to offer them citizenship eventually. Also, as economic disparity between North and South continued to widen instead of narrowing in the New World Order and made living conditions unbearable for millions in the South, the able bodied among them risked their lives and whatever savings they had to get them smuggled out to Global North. People smuggling became a lucrative business to the unscrupulous in the South. The upshot of these developments was the increase in migrant population in the North which has started ringing alarm bells in Global North. Trump’s deportation orders, EU’s temporary border controls beginning with the Schengen area and UK’s White Paper on immigration all reflect an underlying fear that the metaphorical wall built by imperialism and globalization separating those living in zones of conflict and tragedy from those living in relative peace and prosperity, which in other words is the international division of humanity is beginning to crack.
Even before the globalised liberal era and in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the MP for Wolverhampton, Enoch Powel, in UK was warning his government of the danger of increasing waves of people of different colour, beliefs, customs and traditions into imperial Britain. His vocal criticism inside the parliament and emotional outbursts outside produced a group of lawbreakers called Skinheads who went on attacking Asians and in particular Pakistanis and their retail businesses in London. Those Skinheads were the successors of the Teddy Boys who led the 1958 Notting Hill riots against dark skin West Indians. Powel would have turned in his grave with horror when Rishi Sunak of Indian origin became the Conservative Prime Minister of UK in 2022.
The fear of immigrants enjoying a disproportionate share in the employment sector and economy as well as their rising influence in the politics of host nations has led to the growth of anti-immigrant violence and agitation from far-right white supremacists in US, UK and EU. Donald Trump’s fuming over the victory of Uganda born Zohran Mamdani at the New York Mayoral Election and Trump’s deportation orders against so-called “illegal aliens” from Latin America, Pacific Islands and even South Asia while welcoming White South Africans are part of this growing fear. Trump wants to make America Great Again by making it whiter.
It is in this context that one should also consider the virtually unanimous support from Global North to the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Despite the latest call for an immediate ceasefire from 28 foreign ministers (shamefully and not surprisingly there was not a single Arab country minister in that list) for an immediate ceasefire the long silence and support to Israel from Global North is legendary and part of an imperialist agenda to preserve the international division of humanity. The exposure by the UN expert Francesca Albanese of how Western Business Corporations are shamelessly profiting from backing this genocide, and Trump’s sanctions against her need no more evidence to demonstrate the hypocrisy behind that ceasefire call. However, pro-Palestine protests are unstoppable and have captured even entertainment arenas like UK’s Glastonbury Festival and Royal Opera House performance. They are further symptoms of cracks appearing on that metaphorical wall pointed out earlier. Global North’s support for Israel is ultimately to strengthen that wall. Deportations, border and immigration controls are other instruments helping the enterprise of an international division of humanity. Trump’s pullout from UNESCO for the second time is the latest in this globalist agenda. That is the zeitgeist.

“It is in this context that one should also consider the virtually unanimous support from Global North to the ongoing genocide in Palestine.”
There is no doubt about Global North to the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The author who was a Sri Lankan/Ceylon now a Australian Citizen similar to those who moved from Sri Lanka’s genocide of Tamils for the past 77 years also moved to Global North. It is true that in the UN Human Rights Organisation Global North supported a war crimes against Sri Lanka where China and Russia are against to Tamils. In fact, China and Russia are also in the Global market similar to Global North. They are common in terms of dealing with common market but both are different in their Global game. Within a small country or big countries like India, China play double game with the lives of the people. Power greediness of political game is a common principle between Global North and Global South.

.
Your comment is mostly unrelated to the article. The article discusses globalization, migration, and the Global North’s hypocrisy, using Palestine as an example.
.
It does not mention Sri Lanka, Tamils, or UN votes. Bringing up a “77-year genocide of Tamils” is irrelevant and historically disputed, so it distracts from the discussion.
.
If you want to respond meaningfully, focus on the article’s actual points about neoliberalism, migration, and imperialist power structures. As it stands, your comment goes off-topic and doesn’t engage with what the author is arguing.
.
You don’t have to make every article personal. Not everything revolves around the Tamils. Besides, what is the point in mentioning the background of the author, instead of looking at the validity of what he is saying.

This is a typical example of an “Ajith” for you.

You have accepted the fact that my observation is a mirror image of the Country. It means it is the expectation of the people. By targeting me by you and few others who justify the need for a complete change of the system instead of all those families and those individuals who were behind them who violated the norms of humanity, rule of law for their own benefits which brought bankruptcy. Of Course JVP also contributed as their part for the loss of humanity and they still not accepted it yet, people felt the change from JVP to NPP is comparably better than the past 77 years rule of Senanayake, SWRD, JRJ, Rajapaksa, Premadasa family. I will never agree that one family is better than other family. So, all these family rule should go out and the system should be changed. If NPP fail to make that change, it is a loss for NPP and Country, the outcome may be worse or better but it is up to the people to decide. It is now people have to put the pressure on government for the change of system.
Every one has the right to express their views, but targeting individuals is more towards dictatorship.

Capitalism , never mind Global north or South , has a legal
requirement to maximise profit . This theory has now long
been in practice only with little resistance and it now takes
the world by its horns with the development of technology ,
especially Artificial Intelligence . AI is poised to destroy many
jobs while creating a new few . Already in the West , doctors
are prescribing what the software tells them . So , I think there’s
more to do with technology than politics with this immigration
and deportations . Demand for human labour has decreased .
Economic refugees do not want to understand these new realities .
These new realities of course create new political storms that can
lead to inhuman consequences . New world leaders can become
Fanatics with this development and come up with a brave face .

“Capitalism…has a legal requirement to maximise profit .”
Maximising profit is a necessary aspect of capital investment.
Where does the legal requirement come in?
/
whywhy / July 28, 2025
When it comes to maximising profit , there are distinctions
between publicly traded companies and private companies .
And there are obligations for both private and public companies .
These obligations have both legal and ethical aspects . The legal
part comes in when a business is sued by its stake holders for not
maximising its profits . One of the key obligations of a publicly
traded company is to fulfill its fiduciary duty which is a legal
obligation to act in the best interest of shareholders , that is shareholder
value that translates into maximising profit .

We all know that what Saharan did was not in the interest of the Muslims.
Hence we have to think if there is another dimension to the 2019 bombings and alas there seems to be a certain beneficiary and that beneficiary is not a Muslim at all, it was Gota.
And in the long run what happened to Gota?
He was chased away like a dog.

There are so many hidden truths that you will never know as long as you rely on your basic senses.

I believe October 7th attacks were orchestrated by Iran to distract the attention of USA from giving undivided attention to Ukraine. Iran being a Russian allay hatched the October 7th Attacks, it served its purpose, distracted Americas attention on Ukraine by dividing its attention.

According to Jewish beliefs, the rebuilding of the Temple is a key event associated with the coming of the Messiah. Judaism does not recognize Jesus as the Messiah and does not follow Christian teachings. Traditional Jewish thought holds that the Temple will be restored in a future era of peace and divine redemption, not through the destruction of other peoples. The timing of this event is unknown, as Jewish teachings do not specify when the Messiah will come or when the Temple will be rebuilt.
Please take the time to understand the true nature of what you are supporting. It should be evident that the God of Christians is not a God of wickedness; He does not destroy one group of people in order to elevate another for His own glory.

I don’t deny as a Sinhalese you may also have had deep psychological wounds in Sri Lanka may be during a war between LTTE and Military or even during the period of JVP insurgency in 1970 or 1989. But you should just think of 1958 and 1983 they were targeted against Tamils by the governments which contributed before war. The sight in Gaza is very disturbing and hard to watch. I didn’t write about Palestine for a while simply because I couldn’t watch children in Gaza dying from starvation and dehydration and then sleep peacefully. It is very difficult to erase the images of Gaza’s skeletal children from my mind.
The world let Netanyahu unleash starvation and dehydration as a tool to eliminate a nation from their lawful lands. Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire initiative is fake. Netanyahu has Donald Trump’s full backing to continue genocide in Gaza to fulful the latter’s evil dream. Everyday, I wish for freedom for Palestine. Two evil people, who should receive the wrath of God, are destroying this beautiful world.
Is there any way to stop Netanyahu?
YES. The joint statement issued by 28 Great Powers demanding Israel allow unrestricted humanitarian aid into the territory has startled Netanyahu and he immediately started airdrops aid into Gaza. I think the 28 Major Powers should jointly or individually airdrop humanitarian aid into Gaza and send military teams to evacuate dying children for medical treatment. They should not relent until they end the war in Gaza. It is heartwarming to finally see powerful countries come forward to save the helpless Palestinians.

Hello Champa,
I think the British and the European Union should send troops into Gaza to prevent the Genocidal Starvation and Ethnic Cleansing of the Palestinians. That may be wishful thinking, but can you think of any other way to stop it. I am sure this would have a majority support of the British and hopefully European peoples. The UN has been castrated by the US, both Trump and Biden colluded in this. Isn’t it Ironic that Trump’s Mother’s Gaelic people were Ethically Cleansed from the West Coast, Highlands and Islands in Scotland (called the Clearances).. And now Trump is colluding and enabling the same in Gaza.
It is heartbreaking to see the suffering of all Palestinians, Men, Women and Children. In Years to come (or maybe sooner) the World will realise what abhorrent Crimes they allowed to happen in Gaza (and now in the West Bank also).

Exactly!. The 28 Great Powers that signed the Gaza joint statement should send a joint military team to Gaza to protect civilians. They should seize this moment to demand Israel stop the Gaza war and to take concrete action such as deploying their military to block Israel from resuming the war. This should not be another temporary pause to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza. This should be a permanent end to the war.
The Palestine government does not have a military to protect its citizens from all four mass atrocities; genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity simultaneously and continously committing in Gaza by Israel. The Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine can be used to take a collective action to protect Palestine civilians from Israel’s mass atrocities.

The agonizing situation in Gaza warrants an extreme ultimatum to Israel to end the war and withdraw from occupied Palestinian territories.
On May 20, the United Kingdom, France and Canada issued a final ultimatum to Israel to stop further offensives in Gaza. They threatened concrete actions against Israel if unheeded, including targeted sanctions. Then, in July, another 25 powerful countries joined them. Isn’t it the time to jointly announce the effective date of smart sanctions against the Israeli government that do not affect the entire population?
The Great Powers that signed the Gaza joint statement may seriously consider giving an extreme ultimatum to Israel to end the war in Gaza and full and complete withdrawal of its troops in occupied Palestinian territories.
In the meantime, the French President Emmanuel Macron said that France would recognize Palestine as a state in September. This is huge as France will be the first Western nation and the first G7 country that recognizes Palestine as a state. Mr. Emmanuel Macron deserves admiration and applause from the world for his bold decision. Recognizing Palestine as a state by other Great Powers is also consequential in compelling Israel ending the Gaza war and accelerating withdrawal from occupied Palestine territories.

Not as simple as that.

NO, Iran was not behind the October 7 attack on Israel. Iran denied any knowledge of Hamas’ plans. It is the CIA who was behind it. How do I know? The date of the attack is the clue. Hamas attacked Israel on the date of bìrth of Mr. Putin. I was very surprised by their choice of such a significant date. It was not their idea. It was the CIA’s idea. I wanted to say this for a long time. But, I thought it was not fair for Palestine. In fact, I knew the CIA was behind the October 7 attack, the moment I read news about it.

This is my “belated version” of the October 7 attack. Readers have every right to reject it.
.
Someone or a small circle in the Hamas hierarchy (I am not sure who. Maybe the CIA/Mossad has already eliminated him/them.) worked with the CIA to attack Israel on the birthday of Mr. Putin. This information was secretly shared with Israel by the CIA.
Hamas had its own goal to use the attack to swap Israeli hostages with thousands of Palestinian hostages held in Israeli custody, especially the political prisoners. They hatched a devious plot to reach their goal.
The CIA had their own plan to drag Iran and Hizbullah, and in the remotest possibility Russia, into the Gaza conflict and create a proxy war in the region to distract/involve Russia and Iran in another war away from Ukraine. However, it did not work in their way.
In the meantime, Israel had other plans, may be, initially not shared with the CIA.
2/4
/
Champa / July 28, 2025
As pre-planned, Israel invaded Gaza and mercilessly massacred tens of thousands of innocent civilians citing the October 7 attack as the reason.
As for Hamas, those who had a rapport with the CIA felt betrayed and the CIA became powerless in the hand of Israel’s savagery unleashed in Gaza.
I believe, by the pressure from Hamas, the CIA tried to cut ceasefire deals with Israel but to no avail as Israel holds the “CIA’s secret” and was adamant to “punish” Palestinians. As of today, Israel has killed 59,821 Palestinians in Gaza!!!
As obvious, Israel took the upper hand in the Gaza situation and the CIA became powerless. That was Biden’s CIA. Let me talk about Trump’s CIA before it is too late.
.
Trump’s CIA has teamed up with Ukraine to assassinate Mr. Putin or arrange for the ICC to arrest him outside Russia. Their plan was to “persuade” Mr. Putin to join peace talks in person in Turkeye. Their first attempt didn’t materialize despite Donald Trump’s “attractive and humble” offer to meet Mr. Putin in Turkeye. If the plan materialized, even partially, as an added extra, the CIA may have expected an angry Russia to attack Turkeye.
3/4
/
Champa / July 28, 2025
Now, the worst part.
Having failed the plan in Turkeye, Trump’s CIA may use Ukraine to assassinate Mr. Putin inside Russia. They have already tested it. A German General said Russia is capable of launching 2,000 drones to attack Ukraine. I expect that the reverse will happen. It is possible that Ukraine will launch 2,000 drones and an unspecified number of missiles targeting Moscow. Donald Trump’s 50-day ultimatum to Russia hints at a specific date. Is Russia ready?
In addition, the US is provoking Russia to attack a European country, presumably Britain, to involve Russia in another war. Unlike Donald Trump, Mr. Putin is sharp-minded. I don’t think he will make a rash decision.
Donald Trump is foolishly playing with fire. Russia is a nuclear-weapons state in possession of the world’s largest stockpile of nuclear warheads. Russia can destroy Ukraine in 3 minutes, not in 3 days. But, Mr. Putin maintains that Russians and Ukrainians are the same. Provoking Russia to do the unthinkable will lead the West to WW-III, not necessarily between Russia and Ukraine.
On second thought, nothing of the above will happen. In the extreme reversal of events, the CIA may eliminate the Ukrainian President at the end.
