Why Muslims May Not Vote Mahinda Rajapaksa

By Hilmy Ahamed

Hilmy Ahamed

Hilmy Ahamed

The ONLY reason, the Muslims may not vote for President Rajapaksa, would be the Bodu Bala Sena and other Buddhist extremists who have unleashed so much violence and intimidation against the Muslim community during the last three years, starting with the destruction of a shrine in Anuradhapura to the pogrom of Aluthgama. There are over 350 incidents against the Muslims that have been recorded by the Secretariat for Muslims

The Muslims have stood by the country throughout history, and more so during the ethnic war between the Tamil tigers and the government forces by being the buffer for the government forces against the ruthless tigers. For this, they paid a heavy price by being forcible evicted from the North with less than 24 hours notice. They were not allowed to take any of their valuables along. They are still languish in refugee camps in different parts of the country, labeled as old IDPs, they have limited access to any form of relief for resettlement in their former homes.

The Tamils, probably will not forgive the Muslims for standing by the government forces and betraying the Tamil speaking identity yet, the Muslims became the target of a hate campaign by Buddhist extremist led by the Bodu Bala Sena.  The rhetoric of the extremists seems to be, “we have finished off the Tamils, and now we need to finish off the Muslims”.

Gota and BBSPresident Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was able to win unprecedented support from the Muslim community, especially during his second term in office, lost all of it and more because of  the hate campaign of BBS.  President Mahinda Rajapaksa probably lost most of the Tamil votes due to the war, but the loss of the Christian and Muslim votes were purely because of the Bodu Bala Sena, Sinhala Ravaya, Ravana Balaya and other extremist Buddhists. It is indeed tragic that President goes in to an election where he probably is down by 30% of the votes, because of the anti minority campaign by BBS.

The President and the government may have seriously miscalculated the threat posed to them by these Buddhist extremists. They probably assumed that the emergence of these radicals would be an insignificant nuisance, but it has now alienated not just the Muslims and Christians, but a large number of the moderate Buddhists who believe in ethnic harmony and a peaceful Sri Lanka. Whatever gains the president may have accrued due to the Buddhist chauvinism, the loss of the block minority votes would in no way compensate.

What demands serious consideration is, the rhetoric of these misinformed Buddhist monks who claim that the Muslims intermarry and breed like rabbits, Halal complaint food is something that has been sacrificed to Allah, far too many mosques are being built, probably to accommodate the large conversions envisaged, Sri Lanka would become a Muslim country like Indonesia, Maldives etc., they are buying property through support from Arab nations and the Muslims are kingpins in the drug mafia . What crap?

I do not deny that there are Muslims involved in the drug trade, but they are insignificant minions who are mere couriers paid handsomely for a trip to the Golden triangle or crescent with almost guaranteed safe passage by the drug mafia and their protectors.  Once in a while, when a minion is arrested, the racist media would carry banner headlines – A Muslim was arrested with 100 grams of heroin. Have you ever seen a banner headline – A SINHALA BUDDHIST arrested for …..?

Who are the kingpins of the drug mafia, they are not certainly Muslims. Who controls enforcement? Are the IGP, the Chief of Customs, and the Chief of Narcotics control, Muslims? No, all of them are Sinhala Buddhists.

Another claim that they have is that Muslims are building far too many mosques. There are over 200,000 registered taverns and bars in the country. The figure would be three folds if you take all the illicit ones in to consideration. Will having 2000 mosques in the entire country pose a threat to the well being of the people?  Mosques are not bars, brothels or casinos. They are places where the  Muslim children learn their religion. They are similar to the Sundayschools, or the daham pasala.  Further, it is obligatory on Muslims to pray 5 times a day as a congregation to the best of their ability.  This cannot be done in private homes, hence the need for a mosque or prayer center wherever the Muslims live.

Conversation to Islam by the local population in a number of our neighboring countries was never by the sword. Either the leadership embraced Islam and the subjects followed or they believed in Islam because of the exemplary lifestyles of the Muslims of that era. There has been no record history of forced conversions by Muslims anywhere in our neighborhood.

It is time, our president dispelled these myths and start reigning in these extremists who are destroying the peace that we rightfully deserve as a nation. The president, at the end of the war in 2009 had the opportunity of embracing the Tamil population with a true reconciliation process, but failed. It is time that he doesn’t aggravate the situation further by alienating the rest of the minorities from him.  He still has the chance to win the minority votes by reigning in the Sinhala Buddhist extremists and build a truly united Sri Lanka for all Sri Lankans. His commitment and immediate action will certainly swing the minority votes towards him and probably give him his third term.

          So true Native Vedda.

The waves of ‘Kallathonis’, i.e. the ‘Sinhalayas’, the ‘Demalayas’, and the ‘Thambis’ (to use the colloquial street terms) have brought nothing but trouble, war, and mountains of physical and verbal garbage to the once peaceful Vedda island. They should all go back to where they came from and finish off their wars over there. Once all the individuals with the war genes have been exterminated in their stupid wars, the remnants, if peaceful, can come back, without any arms or weapons.

I mean, just look at Vijaya as an example.

Vijaya is described as indulging in ‘evil conduct, and his followers were (like himself), and many intolerable deeds of violence were done by them.

So antisocial were his activities that the people of the kingdom eventually demanded that the (now aging) King Sinhabahu have him executed. Instead Sinhabhu had half their heads shaved (a sign of disgrace) and exiled Vijaya with his followers, their wives and children, from the kingdom – traditionally said to number a total of 700 souls. After resting in several places they found to be hostile, the wayward prince and his associates eventually ‘landed in Lanka, in the region called ‘Tambapanni.”

With those Vijaya genes sloshing around the gene pool of 75% of the population is it any wonder that the invaders have made Vedda Island into a total mess? The Cholas (refer Jayalalitha) and the Islamists (refer ISIS etc) are no better when it comes to violence and corruption.

For more on the Vijaya heritage we can refer the Mahavamsa itself which I have quoted below with some capitalisation by me to emphasise some important bits

          QUOTE

Vijaya was of EVIL CONDUCT and HIS FOLLOWERS WERE EVEN (LIKE HIMSELF), and MANY INTOLERABLE DEEDS OF VIOLENCE were done by them. Angered by this the people told the matter to the king; the king, speaking persuasively to them, severely blamed his son. But all fell out again as before, THE SECOND AND YET THE THIRD TIME; and the angered people said to the king: `Kill thy son.’

Then did the king cause Vijaya and his followers, seven hundred men, to be shaven over half the head and put them on a ship and sent them forth upon the sea, and their wives and children also. The men, women, and children sent forth separately landed separately, each (company) upon an island, and they dwelt even there. The island where the children landed was called Naggadipa[4] and the island where the women landed Mahiladipaka[5]. But Vijaya landed at the haven called Suppäraka[6], BUT BEING THERE IN DANGER BY REASON OF THE VIOLENCE OF HIS FOLLOWERS BE EMBARKED AGAIN.

The prince named VIJAYA, the valiant, LANDED IN LANKA, In the region called Tambapanni…

It is hard to believe that President Mahinda Rajapakse was once a Human Rights activist, and a good one at that. Human rights have been violated left, right and centre, not by his government but by gung-ho groups that appear to be sponsored, rather unjustly, by the Rajapaksa regime. There is also no shortage of sycophants like Nishantha De Silva who through their ignorance simply stoke up the pseudo enmity, thinking there is something to gain. There is nothing to gain but misery that we all suffered unnecessarily not so long ago.

Read this.Muslims should read this too, along with Buddhists and Catholics and Tamils.

Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims should NOT vote for MaRa, Mara.

Catholics should vote for MaRa after all, he tried to ge pope to cpme, and MaRas wife is Catholic, a follower of the Pope.

Rajapakse Ancestry: Rajapaksa’s are born Catholics of Malaccan origin..!

      http://lankaenews.com/news/96

(Lanka-e-News -27.Oct.2014, 10.00PM) Rajapaksa is a ‘name’ that the British Raj gave to people that did a good job in Negombo/ Seeduwa area, close to Katunayake.

The same way the British did, give fancy names to people in the Hill country and South, that did a good job!

Rajapaksa’s are born Catholics of Malaccan origin (this explains the strong ‘gob looking’ Mongoloid phenotype features in all of them).

His father’s name was Don Alwin Rajapaksa. His son (the President now) is Percy Mahinda. They ‘converted’ their Religious belief’s to gain Political mileage.

This was no different to SWRD and JRJ, who were all from strict Christian backgrounds and converted to exhibit Sinhala Buddhist Extremism to gain Public Popularity. (Goes to show the basic insincerity and the manipulative methods used to gain power!)

The Rajapaksa family is now one of Sri Lanka’s most powerful families in the land.

Led by President Mahinda Percy Rajapaksa, all his ‘kith and kin’ now occupy senior positions in the Sri Lankan state.

The family controls around 70% of the national budget.

The Rajapaksa family, originally from Seeduwa/ Negombo later migrated with their Malaccan Catholic ancestors to the villages of Sippukulam and Giruwapattuwa in the southern district of Hampanthottam (now known as Hambantota).

Their Malaccan relatives were banished by Islamic Rulers of Malacca for helping the Portuguese conquest of Malacca.

They were feared, and known for their brutality and ruthlessness.((nothing seems to have changed!)

The Malaccan family forcibly possessed fertile paddy fields and coconut lands belonging to natives, (nothing seems to have changed!) by enforcing their brutality through rape and murder.(nothing has changed!)

Some of the residum of the Malaccan Catholic relatives remain in the Seeduwa/ Negombo area, such as the Lansa Family (no relation of Mario Lansa??!!) of Negombo who are cousins of the Rajapaksa’s.

Members of one section the of the Southern migrant Malaccan family’s later converted to Islam to blend with the Muslims of Malay and Arab descent, in order to receive trade benefits and credit from Muslim traders who monopolized the southern trading ports of Galle and Hampanthottam (now known as Hambantota).
(p.s. History repeats itself- this time, with the ‘Chinks’ as well??!!)

The others entered into Village politics.

One of its members- Don David Rajapaksa, held the feudal post of Vidanarachchi in Ihala Valikada Korale.

The family entered the political scene by first feigning their Religious beliefs aligning more to the majority inhabitants beliefs of Theravada Buddhism!

Thereafter, Don David Rajapaksa’s son Don Mathew Rajapaksa was elected in 1936 to represent Hambantota district in the State Council.

Don Mathew died in 1945 and at the resulting by-election his brother, Don Alwin Rajapaksa was elected without a contest. At the 1947 parliamentary election two members of the family were elected to represent both of the constituencies in Hambantota district.

Don Alwin Rajapaksa was elected MP for Beliatta and Lakshman Rajapaksa (Don Mathew’s son) was elected MP for Hambantota. They yet maintained the subtlety of their staunch Catholic beliefs but appearing to be Buddhists on the outside!

The Rajapaksas continued to dominate politics in Hambantota district for next three decades with two other members of the family (George Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa) also entering parliament.

The Rajapaksas were represented in the country’s legislatures continuously from 1936 till 1977.

The family wasn’t represented in parliament after the UNP landslide at the 1977 parliamentary election.

The Indo-Lanka Accord shed light on the Rajapaksa family to adopt a more headlined” Sinhala Buddhist” policy.

This helped the Rajapaksa family to re-emerge as the dominant political force, in Hambantota district, when Mahinda and his brother Chamal Rajapaksa were elected in 1989 to represent Hambantota Electoral District.

They were later joined by Nirupama Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa and Namal Rajapaksa.

Although the Rajapaksas had dominated politics in the Hambantota district, Nationally, politics were dominated by other families (Senanayake’s, Wijewardena’s and Bandaranaike’s – also hypocrites of Christian origin).

With the country having faced more than two decades of war (made even worse by the ‘Hoodlums of the JVP), the Presidential Candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa opted to take the more radical Sinhala Buddhist extremist path.

He was opposed to Ranil Wickramasinghe, who had already created resentment from the Sinhala Buddhist majority and was considered to be ‘light veined’ and pro- Western.

This paid off well in 2005, when Mahinda Rajapaksa was elected President.

There are claims that in the 2005 and consecutive Presidential Elections his Victory was bequeathed by the sordid tales of manipulation, thuggery and corrupt malpractices.

None of these allegation were proved, leaving them only as “tales of the disappointed”, although many still believe the contrary!

Since then, members of his family have been appointed to senior political positions.

Immediately after being elected President, Mahinda appointed his brother Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as Defence Secretary (the most senior civil service position in the Ministry of Defence).

Another brother, Basil Rajapaksa, was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor and later Minister of Economic Development.

Between them the three Rajapaksa brothers are in charge of five government ministries: Defence & Urban Development, Economic Development, Finance & Planning, Highways and Ports & Aviation.

This means that they directly control 70% of the national budget.

None of these relations had the decency, honour or self respect to decline accepting these ‘high offices’ if only to squash the obvious embarrassing ‘accusations’ that followed by the thousands.

They went on to acquire colossal amounts of wealth.

The Rajapaksa’s deny having control over such amounts!( Naturally!) Numerous other members of the ‘extended family’ have also been appointed to senior positions of the state.

The entire family seems “set for life”!!

After the successful ‘wiping out’ of the murderous Northern terrorists (also known for their brutality and ruthlessness), he empowered his Military brother to be in charge of Defence, and begin to infiltrate into the ‘Urban Development Authority’ (UDA), which has inexplicable ‘Land powers’, to override even the Judiciary of the country!

The accumulation of so much power and wealth by just one family, has inevitably led to the belief of blatant nepotism.

Incidentally, the UDA was formed initially, by the former President Premadasa when he was Prime Minister, and placed under his direct purview a notoriously corrupt civil servant named Paskaralingam! (pundi koottee)

Since then, the UDA has always been a powerful ‘control weapon’ of the Head of state.

Now the majority of the country, completely ignorant of facts and honest information, act like ‘lambs to slaughter’, under the command and discretion of the Rajapaksa family.

To enhance their so called ‘power’ they have recruited former menials,ex-cattle thieves, illicit alcohol brewers and “father unknown” village thugs, to execute matters of ‘law’ summarily!

All this whilst the country enjoys a reputation of having the” best Police Force in the world- that money can buy” !!!!

Now, the UDA is alleged to be forcibly acquiring Private and State Property and transferring them on to questionable tri-pâté agreements to their own family members and their ‘foot and mouth’ soldiers!!

Re-living their ancestral history of conquering the deep south, and now the whole nation!

Let us all sincerely hope that the “wheels of Karma would turn slowly, but surely”!

RE: Why Muslims May Not Vote Mahinda Rajapaksa

The reasons should be the same for the other communities as well. Bdd Governance, No Law and Order, Thievery, Nepotism, Crimes and “Buddhist” monks going berserk and running amok, etc.

However, with MaRa, it will be the correct choice not to vote for MaRa, aka Mara of Buddhism..

Now Muslims did not always make the correct Choice in history and this lead ti the decline and marginalization of Muslims. They let the Ulemas and Mullah take over and let free inquiry and reason being second to revelation. Net result was that the IQ of Muslims decreased over the past 800 years compared to the Europeans and Chinese.

The only reason not to vote for Mahinda? So Muslim’s don’t care about corruption, nepotism or sustainable economic policies? I guess we’ve already established they don’t care about the Tamil community.

In supporting JRJ and RP Muslims did vote against
      corruption,nepotism and for sustainable economic
policies and by not voting for MARA they even lost
lives and properties. They do care about Tamil
community but not any armed struggle, like they did
care about Sinhala community but not the JVP
insurgency. And now you find it easy to call them
opportunists I guess! If that’s the case then all
those who want a peaceful environment must be called
      opportunists in my view.

It is a Law and order and Good Governance Issue.

Buddhists, as well as Muslims, Chieftains and Tamils want law and order and do not want their daughters, sons and wives to be raped by things and monks or priests to be raped and killed.

However, the MaRa regime has added Wholesale a specific variable to the Muslims only. So this is one more reason why Muslims should not vote for MaRa.

Had they Targetted specifically, the Devil, Satan, Iblis Following Wahhabis, it would have been a different story.

Now it’s too late for Rajakpakse to gain the trust and confidence of minorities namely Tamils and Muslims.
His brother Gotabya orchestrated the Killing Filed of Mullivaikal through blood lusty men like Chavindra and Jagath. Instead of sending the men including his criminal brother to The Hague, Brother Mahinda sends them to represent Sri Lanka in UN and other Diplomatic Missions.
Then he nourished BBS with poison that end up the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Aluthgama and Beruwela.
Gnasara the goon of the BBS given all kind of luxuries the Mahinda and Gotabya can offer (yes it’s well known fact of his lust for meat, liquor, etc..)He even went to the extend to bring the International Buddhist terrorist Wirathu to Sri Lanka with the blessing Gotabya. Controller of Immigration and Emigration- C. Perera had to lose his job for refusing him to grant a visa.
Here and there the Churches and Prayer Centres are attacked or set fire by BBS, RB thugs.

Under all these circumstances, can anyone who follows let be Islam, Christianity, Hinduism or Buddhism VOTE for Mahinda Rajapkse???

    MRB will NOT……..

Not only Muslims those who wish enforcement of proper law and order and justice in the country will not vote Mahinda.so it is not a question of being Muslim and not voting.it is question of humanity by and large. Problems to Muslims is an outcome of lack of law and order and not because Mahinda is Sinhalese.just bcs Muslims’ problems is solved does it mean our duty end as human been.?

  • 6
    6

Hilmy, what you write is perfectly in order and spot on. Muslims have never agitated or done anything to harm the cordial ties they had with the majority Sinhala Buddhist community in this country. It is they who caused all the consternation and upheavel against Muslims, who were made to pay the ulotimate sacrifice with 7 innocent lives. Holding an ear to the ground, you can still hear the rumblings that are still going on, although in low intensity, since they have now realized that they had miscalculated the outcome and now will have to live with it. The Muslims can never be separated nor live iosolated from the Sinhalese Buddhists living in this country, as their friendships and association, employment and business set-up are so deeply enmeshed tha they depend on one another to survive, and this has been the way since way back. Although they called for ‘boycott of Muslim shops and avoid doing business with them,’ it was just superficial and didn’t last long. The slogans used were soon forgotten and those who called for these measures were called bigots, and everything went back to normal. The Halal project is very much alive and kicking, and I can check anything I want to buy through a call, search on their very well presented internet website, or check it out on their color display in the Masjid notice board. So many avenues opened up to keep us safe from eating Haram food. Ultimately it was they who lost out, distanced themselves from their owen people who reverred them as monks, got disgraced in so many ways as in drunk driving charges, monks using bad cursing language on police officers, and a distinct lowering of Buddhist standards with the entree of Mynmar’s Wirathu – the face of Buddhist terror. The Muslims still carry on with their daily lives.

ANY MUSLIM VOTE TO MARA THE RACIST SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A VOTE TREADING ON THE BODIES OF INNOCENT WOMEN AND CHILDREN KILLED IN ALUTHGAMA AND BERUWELA BY THE BALU SENA GOONS WITH THE CONSENT OF MARA AND GORA AND ALSO APPROVING THE VISA GRANTED TO VIRATHU TO INCITE FURTHER VIOLENCE AGAINST MUSLIMS.

ANY TAMIL VOTE WOULD BE OVER THE DEAD BODIES OF OVER 40,000 CIVILIANS PERISHED IN THE FINAL STAGES OF WAR, WHICH DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED OR AT LEAST MINIMISED AND STILL WON THE WAR AGAINST THE LTTE.

ANY CHRISTIAN VOTE WOULD BE OVER THE DESECRATED STATUES OF THEIR DEITY.

ANY RIGHT THINKING BUDDHIST VOTE WOULD BE OVER THE BODIES OF LASATHA WICKRAMATUNGE,BHARATHA LAKSHMAN,SOORIARACHI,NEGOMBO FISHERMEN, FTZ EMPLOYEE,WELIWERIYA PROTESTERS AND ALSO OVER THE CASKET OF JUDICIARY AND RULE OF LAW OF THE COUNTRY ESPECIALLY AFTER THE ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL REMOVAL OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE BY THE GOONS OF MARA.

BUT HOLD ON A SECOND, DOES THIS MARA MORALLY AND LEGALLY HAS THE RIGHT TO ASK FOR A VOTE FROM ANYBODY FOR THAT MATTER? ASK JVP AND THE LEGAL CIRCLES.

DOES HE NOT LOOK NAKED IN PURE WHITE DRESS WITH THE SATAKA? THEY SAY ONE WOULD DO ANYTHING, ONCE THE FEELING OF SHAME IS GONE AWAY FROM A PERSON. DOES ANYONE NEED ANY MORE PROOF TO BACK THAT STATEMENT. LIVING EXAMPLE ON PLANET EARTH, MARA AND MARA ALONE.

Shouldn’t the UNP, TNA, Diaspora Troika extend an apology, now that this gentleman is mustering the Mueslims to push the Christian Faction leader over the line in January?.

100,000 Muslims families who were chased out of the North and the families and dependants of the 300 worshippers in Batti at least can take legal action seeking compensation with the apology.

That is the norm in the Diaspora Lands, And their mentors Cameron and Harper even have to back such legal action.

      Sumane…..

1995 – LTTE chased out over 600,000 Tamils from North, later, they chased out Muslims. But they did not kill a single person during these ‘cleanup’.

      Ok….let’s see about King MaRa:

      – Karuna, the #2 LTTE’er who killed over 600 Sinhalese Policemen and who claims the main reason for all LTTE victories over Sinhalese Army.

If this is true, as long as Karuna is with GoRa, your King MaRa is a jailbird.

    Hilmy Ahamed

It appears that followers of the Islamic faith feel they are entitled to special privileges, and take advantage of their perceived role as ‘kingmakers’ at every opportunity . A simple example is the blatant disregard for all traffic laws in parking vehicles at Town Hall on Fridays.

There is an urgent need to elect to office , governments that can ensure that the rule of law is equal to all its’ citizens irrespective of caste , creed , or religion – and more importantly, who they vote for .

    • 3
      2

Dr. What a silly thing you have brought up to try and discredit Muslims or is it their behavior. Couldn’t think of something else? A traffic jam is a traffic jam which no one wants to be in. I was living in Qatar until recently and it was the same there too on every Friday noon prayers, in spite of the adequate parking facilities within the Masjid premises. I guess the rush is the same in every part of the Muslim world and everywhere else where Muslims gather for Friday prayers. Surely they are not the ones to be blamed, but the town planning municipal authorities and traffic cops who should close off that part of the road for 1 or 2 hours until the Jumma prayers are over on every Friday at the specified times. If that were allowed to happen, you will probably start on ‘Why should roads be closed to facilitate Muslims prayers’. Either way, you may never be stisfied with the results. Why? Since it involves Muslims and when it comes to that aspect, you have an infamous reputation, Dr. Goebells.

We have an urgent need to elect to office a govenment of the people for the people. Instead we have a government of the people for the Rajapaksas, their goon squads, kudu mudalalis, kappan karayas and pandan karayas.
Yes, it is time we kicked them out.

One of the earliest and clearest statements given by
Montesquieu in 1748 on the Separation of Powers:When the
legislative and Executive powers are united in the same
person or in the same body of magistrates, there can be
no liberty..there’s no liberty if the powers of judging
is not separated from the legislative and executive…
there would be an end to everything if the same man or
the same body…were to exercise those three powers.
This is the scenario in Srilanka today. What’s the
legislative and the judiciary doing today for its people?
How is a chief justice appointed and removed?Cure is not
really complicated. When these three bodies are not in
their proper order, what would be the outcome?Puppets are
put forward to be elected as puppets and then these two
bodies jointly make the judiciary the third puppet! So,
Muslims are well informed that the executive is
responsible for their plight, whoever that person is.
MARA has to face it and the majority has to see the truth
and react with a sense of responsibility in the name of
    their own true liberty.

This analysis does not consider a possibility of manipulation of computer results to off-set the minority votes that is being
daringly and emphatically rejected by the Regime in the run up to
electioneering. Should not the presence of Cyber-net specialist from
China, under the MoD be suspected? Towards this kind of activity will
not a quasi-CID Report be initiated at a given time and our dummy ECs
Computer-room be positioned in MoD premises under the guise of security threats? The previous EC was placed under house-arrest during
the declaration of results,if the news was true.

The Chinese backed elections this time has to yield the expected results. [Edited out]

My neighbour who is a pious Muslim tells me that any Muslim who touches M R’s money to go to Mecca, will not have his prayers accepted as it is money derived from blood sucking. He says, the first thing for a Muslim is to have money which is clean. M R doesnt have any clean money, so going to Mecca with M R s money will not be accepted by God Allah

Hilmy, this was a good amd timely response to BBS Agnanasara’s call for Muslims to vote for MR at the next Prez elections. I don’t know how he had the balls to call on the Muslims after all that mischief (too simple a word) he carried out targeting them. Shameless stupid monk. His moment of glory was short-lived before world condemnations started pouring in and ended up with his Organization branded as a terrorist outfit, and his 5 year Multiple Visa to US immediately revoked. So much so for his brand of Buddhism.

Govt. to help poor Muslims go on Haj pilgrimage
    – Daily Mirror of 2014-10-28

    Election gimmicks…

It is not fair for non-Muslim tax payers to absorb the cost (approx. Rs. 500,000/-) of Muslims going for Haj pilgrimage. Muslims need to perform Haj only when/if they can afford… if not, there is no compulsion. God is All-Knowing. Giving a source of sustenance (employment), a roof above their heads, education etc to the less fortunate and irrespective of race/religion is much more important.

    • 2
      0

Very true Fazl. I guess MR will stoop to any depths to win back Muslim trust and thereby salvage what little remains of the minority voter-base.

Like you said, it costs more than a whopping million bucks for a husband and wife to perform the Hadj together. A man can go alone anytime, but when it involves a lady, a male accompaniment becomes a must, then it becomes double the cost. In any case, Hadj season is just over already, and it will take another year before these offers bear fruit. But I doubt anyone will wait with abated breath and high expectations of receiving same, as it will ultimately filter down to his own cronies and become highly politicized as is usually the case.

The performance of Hadj is compulsory to a Muslim, at least once in a lifetime if the means are within reach, and on the first available opportunity, since we don’t have any idea of our lifespan on earth, is perfectly correct. But the source of the funds is also equally important. If it comes from a Muslim who has already performed his own Hadj, or from a Baithulmal collection, then I would consider sponsoring another to perform Hadj is perfectly in order. It is said that they earn the same merit as those they sponsor to undertake the Hadj pilgrimage.

But the big question comes in when it is government sponsored, since it becomes an unholy alliance involving so many other factors. No mix of interest money is allowed or acceptable, the intention of the giver must be purely to please Allah and not something mundane such as to gain votes at an election, the giver of funds should have at least undertaken the pilgrimage himself at least once in his lifetime, before offering to sponsor others. Otherwise it becomes meaningless exercise to bust up the tax payer’s money just to win-over a few votes.

For it is Allah who provides us Sustenance, and if we totally depend on Him, He will never let us down. We don’t need to depend on MaRa to be our source of opportunity, but rather he do his own job well as a just, fair and sincere ruler without fear or favor towards any one side. Then we can expect everything else to fall into place.

You know what I feel looking at the danger before us if MR would stay live in coming years. That is what I feel he should be quarantined as to the manner IBOLA infected ones are being kept. Rajapakshe oligarchs are a greater harm to this island. No doubt about that.

      Fazl,
he feels that tax payers funds are his own assets.
Those leftists in the heterogenous coalition seem to be sleeping like pigs as if they dont get what the bugger has been saying.
How can a president react in this way ? His self made relgious forces – BBS almost did everything against the Muslims SOFAR… while also continuing the same harm towards also opponent sinhalese today, if this kind of tricks could increase the votes is more than questionaable.

As per a JVP speaker, it would take 300 years for Mahinda to send at least 1.5M Muslims for Haj as per the quota available to Sri Lanka. even Eeliyanth BLACK cannot keep M R Alive for the next 300 years. Hope my Thambi brothers will know the truth at least from this equation. M R’s broken promises are worse than the lies of Chandrika. So, if Muslims decide to suck up to Rajapaksa, then they deserve to gargle what comes out

A good write up , but the muslim masses should remember the crimes done to them (very well pointed out by the writer),before they decide whom to cast their vote. The question is will they have a vote or be deprived of it,by gembesara and the other goons? It is already known who will win.The opposition will be fighting a losing battle.

There are 1.1 Muslim votes. All Ceylon Muslim congress and National Muslim congress are already with the government. Eventually, the Muslim congress also will support the UPFA. All of them can attract about 300,000 Muslim votes from East and other parts. The Muslims in rest of the areas may divide equally . We can safely assume that 70% Muslim votes to UPFA (700,000) and 30% (400,000) to UNP.

Why Muslims May Not Vote Mahinda Rajapaksa

It is a pity that you can only speculate on the mood of the Muslims and not predict with any conviction how they will vote even after what BBS have done to them under the auspicious of Gotha & MR.
It shows lack of leadership amongst Muslims to harness the anger felt by Muslims to make them vote against MR.

To all those who clamour about MARA’s offer to send poor people to Mecca.

This is the problem of not knowing the religion in the first place and trying to poke their noses in unwanted issues, just like his lackey BBS.

Firstly, from all what I know, poor people are not required to perform hadj and there are a lot of equivalent good deeds that they can perform and be rewarded as good as performing hadj.

Secondly, taking money from someone else and performing hadj does not accrue the same amount of merits which accrue from that one performed from ones own hard earned legitimate money.

Thirdly, the money should be halal (permitted earnings) which means MARA’s money can never be used, as everyone knows that those moneys are either ill gotten wealth of MARA or simply made out of exorbitant taxes from the poor masses. Either way, it can never be halal.

So hold your breadth as his offer does not hold any water for genuine Muslims, may be for Muslims of MARA’s calibre, who are only name sake Muslims, but do not follow the teachings of Quran or the guidance of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH)

I don’t understand why the President only offering free trips for the poor Muslims to Mecca. What about poor and hapless Buddhists and Hindus in the country of whom over 4o% live below the poverty line. Are they not Sri Lankan people and they are not President’s voters. The only reason I can see from President’s opportunist / shrewd sympathy toward only Muslims is to win their votes as the Muslims have lost faith in UPFA. The Government has already lost the credibility among Tamils foralienating them and its anti minority vision/ policies.
The Sinhala Buddhists and Tamils Hindus must unite at this hour to oppose UPFA’s callous treatment of them and its ugly policies to curry favoy Muslims and win their votes.

The hilarious comments made by so many shows, we have become a very divisive nation within a short time after deafeating ruthless terrorist organization LTTE. This is the exact scenario, the enemies of our nation (including remanants of LTTE and thier syphathisers) have expected.BBS is not the enemy of our beloved nation. Enemies are among themselves, they have formed many alliances with governing political parties at every pre and post election times to serve their own interests. There are no political entity in the country , not a single entity that is devoted the national interests and the upliftment of lives of our people. Just look around you, the answer lies there. You do not have to go further. It is sad and do not blame BBS and alike.

Yes, you are talking about one reason where Muslims may not vote for the government. I can tell you there are million other reasons why they will vote for the government including right to live in peace. Yes, there are issues but they are blown out of proportion by people like you who is trying hard to drive a wedge.

This does not mean the government cannot assist deserving Muslims to do this pilgrimage. Perhaps we can get assistance from Saudi Arabia to charter some aircrafts to take these people to Jeddah. The modalities are not discussed. It is only a thought in good faith perhaps can be extended to other faiths too. How can it be an election gimmick more than UNP promise of 10,000 for the reasonably well off public servants over looking other sectors of the economy. UNP is only trying to disturb shit before the election.

There are two types of Muslims in our country. One is the elite
and rich, in the South, totally dependant on the govt support for upkeep of their businesses and they, as a rule always vote with the winning party. Some of them even forgot their mother tongue, Tamil, and studied Sinhala to be with the winning party, expecting positions and perks.

The Tamils, even today lament over the losses suffered during the 1983 riots but this clan already forgot the Aluthgama tragedy in no time and
even sort assistance from BBS. as per the media, over the issue of allocation of permits to travel on pilgrimage to Mecca, when the Govt.
intervention was required over a quarrel in their ranks.

The other type of Muslims are the poor farmers from the Eastern province, whose mother tongue is Tamil and there are scholars among them. They are not permitted to vote as per their consciousness during election time as this is the time the politicians with religious backing are seen in these areas preaching as to whom they should vote in the name of prophet Mohamed and it had been always that the Muslims voted with the winning party and never in large numbers, to an opposition candidate, knowing that they cannot form a formidable opposition. I think that the Tamils should learn a lesson from this.

So Muslims votes cannot be counted now as they will wait to see which
party is leading and who gives (election gimmicks) more perks.

  • 0
    0

May and may not! Ifs and buts!! are not the same as Will and Will not! and Yes and No!!

Why should the Muslims have reservations? Why can’t they be candid and say no to Mahinda and Yes to Ranil. Side kick pays part in their decision making.

Unfortunately this is their inherent culture. They will not change.

The Halal knives they had was fearful weapons then, even the majority Sinhalese were scared of the Muslims. It is all changed now.

Muslims are directionless. When thieves lead them they can only become more confused and directionless. Thieves have made the most with Mahinda.
