Why Only My Father’s Name Comes Up All The Time In Such A Huge Government?

By Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake

Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake

Am not at all a person who uses social media to express views or thoughts in lengthy status messages but I feel that sadly today it has come to a point where I feel at least I have to voice out my thoughts on the same platforms that my family is getting character assassinated on.

I have seen many articles circulated all around social media about my father for a very long time but for the first time I feel I need to intervene and speak out cause this particular time it is a malicious constant attack on his character that is orchestrated by others who aim to achieve other things trying to make my father a fall man.

I see everyone very easily resharing content on many pages on social media but all have only one name. My father’s name. Does everyone really believe for the last couple years everything in the government is just one man and that we have been getting hit cause we deserve it or that maybe there is a pattern to this madness now?

I know that when situations arise we all want to get to the bottom of things and find someone responsible for it but are you sure that all the sites carry facts or have you ever thought that this could be well planned and paid attempts from others in politics who would need to cover up their sins by directing all negative attention to one man?

Everyone is entitled to freedom of speech but with freedom of speech also comes the responsibility to know all the true facts and figures and not only the damaging views that are paid to catch on to all.

I cannot change everyone’s opinions about how you see my family but I respectfully just ask you to think before you fall prey to these well paid character assassins targeting just one man constantly.

I have learnt bitterly over the years that politics is a dirty game and some in it will stop at nothing to achieve the individual goals no matter who they hurt along the way.

So if you have actually taken time to read through this fully all I want to ask you at the end is please think. Thinking can one man do everything all the time? Can one man always be doing these things jus to get negative publicity or is he actually being framed and made to be the fall man again and again?

Please all I ask you is to think before you form a one sided opinion cause again like I have learnt the hard ways politics is not how it appears to be. Think if you have all the facts cause I know that you will be surprised if you really sit to think whats going on.

Just ask yourself? Why only one man’s name comes up all the time in such a huge government?

Again everyone is free to think how they see it from the facts they have but I have now given you a small view from my family’s side. So please just open your eyes and think a little because in this instance its not any commission but the media and the public that has been the judge, jury and executioner.

Like my father said after visiting the commission that day and coming out:

“I can accept the spearing of an enemy’s arrow but the pin pricking of friends is much more hurtful.”

Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake desperately wants to know

“Why Only My Father’s Name Comes Up All The Time In Such A Huge Government?”

Don’t worry below you will learn there are others who are found to be equally notorious, please read the story if you haven’t done so:

Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake, Child nothing will happen to your dad or his fellow fraudsters who happened to be in the right place at the right time and benefited rightly as they are connected to each other. MR’s b***s are in Ranil’s hands and Ranil’s b***s are in MR’s hands. No one can afford to pull other’s as it will definitely hurt both. Being politicians they very well understand this simple fact of life.

Therefore all the crooks irrespective of party allegiance sit in a circle and scratch the back of the one who is sitting in the front. So doing every crook is benefited and none is left out.

What an egalitarian society among the criminal fraternity.

      Dear Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake ,

RE: Why Only My Father’s Name Comes Up All The Time In Such A Huge Government?

Your father is either very famous or very notorious.

Your mother is well admired, and the the admirers get her penthouses for rent, gratis, and even buys the penthouses outright, gratis, with bagful of money. You are very lucky to have such a well admired mother.

Just curious, do you know who those admirers are? Your father seems to have no clue, probably as he is very busy working hard for the country or for himself.

True or false: Did your step mother and your father put pressure on people to SELL Their plots of land around your father’s house on Parliament Road?
    YES OR NO?
Are you not building a massive house there with a swimming pool as well?
    YES OR NO?
What was behind the Galleon Money Laundering issue?
Who paid for this apartment?and why?

Great to see a daughter expressing angst. I will not spend time on the personal insults but facts must be investigated.

    My Dear,

It would have been much better if you did not attempt to whitewash your Father.I am not so sure of the school that your Dad attended to but at least where your were educated they surely would have talked about the Idiom “Those who live in glass houses(penthouses perhaps) should not throw stones ” ???

Regardless of the title “Honorable” that is attached to your Fathers political position, believe you me there is nothing Honorable about him the way he has been conducting his business from time immemorial.Neither being a church goer would absolve him from all his sins.

We, the voters, are just reading what your Accountant has said … that he doesn’t know from where you and your mum got the money to buy the apartment. Sad that parents drag their kids also into this business. We, the voters, are just reading what your dad has said … that he also doesn’t ask from where the money came to buy a penthouse. Pray, please tell us … if you know.

      Paddy ,

This accountant father doesn’t have time to bother about his
family’s income but he knew to tax ordinary fellow country
men ! How come only your family escaped his attention dear
Onella ? And the other annoying question is how a husband
and a father former finance minister RK was not interested
in knowing about that amount of money getting into your
pockets ? It is a very simple maths ! An apartment , in Col 03,
you are buying it and he even doesn’t bother to talk about it
with you but he lives with you and on top of all that , was it
not a good enough news for you both mother and daughter
to share the joy of purchasing the apartment with your
loving dad ? Are you two not living with him anymore ? What
is your IQ dear ? What is your take on YOSHITA AYYA’S
DAISY ACHCHIGE MANIK MALLA (the gem bag of daisy
granny) ? A mansion in Malwana without an owner ?
Don’t you know people are already familiar with the kind of
statement that your accountant and minister father had
offered to the commission ? It is a childish answer for a
FOREIGN MINISTER AND ONE OF THE PARTY LEADERS
AND YOU BEING HIS DAUGHTER must blast him off for
being so stupid and low blow .

Young lady, when someone is prepared to pay your rent running in to millions without any rhyme or reason, while your father is the minister of finance, are you so dumb not to realise it is something fishy and could lead to trouble if discovered?
When you suddenly decided to buy along with your mother a pent house costing hundreds of millions in rupees when you don’t have such money how did you think it was possible? When unaccounted cash was being dispensed for the purchase did you not think where this money came from? Are you so naive?
Just to remind you this kind of reaction had become a fashion among politicians’ children in Colombo.
Both Namal and Yoshitha too came out with such crap when their father was caught!

    Dear Onella

You say that you have learnt over the years that politics is a dirty game.
But your father told the court of inquiry just a few days ago that you and your mother do not know about politics.
What’s more instead of acting like a good father/husband and a gentleman, your father thought nothing of throwing you and your mother under the bus so he could wriggle out of this disgraceful situation.
You should be addressing those issues with your father instead of taking up cudgels with the public who have every right to question the politicians about any deals they have been involved in.

“Just ask yourself? Why only one man’s name comes up all the time in such a huge government?”
I asked my self the question and came out this answer lady.
Simply because he was the Minister of Finance at the time the Bond Scam took place at a huge loss to the country and he aided and abetted that scam..otherwise why a man on the street pay your Penthouse rental ,,,….?

Yes Ornella the public are thinking and thinking why only your father. Why don’y you too think then u have the answer. This mans name comes up so much because there is great lot of evidence about his misuse of position to amass wealth and the to deny any knowledge of his wrongdoings! U and mum had not kept him informed as to who paid the rent ! Now think ! There are so many sms messages on Arjun’s mobile tracked down pointing towards one RaviK. Now think again as to who this conman RaviK referred to is! Then the 13 trips to Singapore with Arjun – for what? Think! His undated note to Central Bank ( a professional Accountant and Minister ). Think and think you will get the answers. Also think about the Ethanol license. Join the public and think!!!

He put lots of hardship on the shoulders of the poor when he was finance. He put a rule to ‘fine’ Rs.25,000/- on the people who drove their vehicles without insurance etc. . Most of the people did not have money to get their instance.. this includes nukes and trishaws as well. Due to this they used to take lanes and bylanes to reach their destination. This is while he lives luxury. the children who studied with his own children are still going through lots of hardships.. they are travelling by govt transport and working till very late in their working places. This is while his children get all easy money. The only thing he did was reducing Rs.2 /- for coriander. His see all this. Onella.. your friends are still going through lots of hardships. They have no money.. they have family responsibilities. . Their parents are old and sick. . So they have to work hard to look after the hard shops in the family. They travel by busses loaded with people because they cannot afford even a trishaw. These children who studied with you in the same school and in the same class with you.. all this while you live luxury and get all easy money. But at last they have honest parents and at the end of the day they sleep peacefully..

Ms. Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake: As I heard, you are a part owner of a super luxury mansion. You are also a owner and a director of a hugh warehouse. How did your father get money to do all these while being just an MP or the minister. How did he do this many thing brining up a family buying those things, we heard another mansion is coming near the parliament. Just tell us how it is possible.

Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake: did your father use army security details during the war to come out of the house and had he cut down his trips, even to parliament becuse of LTTE threats. The important thing is that kind of MP was questioning whether the army was in Alimankada or Pamankada. Do you think he is respectable and suitable enough to be a MP after that kind of talks. HE is good for the prliament because all in that are the same.——————– He is a very arrogant MP. He thinks voters can not question what MPs. please check his talks after the meetings. Because of that, I don’t think he should be in the parliament even thought Ranil is keeping him.

    Dear Onella

Have you heard of professional ethics? What your family has done by accepting money from a person who is being investigated for stealing money, despite the fact that your father is the top-cabinet minister responsible for managing the country’s treasury is totally unethical.

In a democratic and corruption-free country, he would be FIRED by the head of state immediately. The honourable action for him would have been to recuse himself from the cabinet and any investigations of Perpetual Treasuries and the Bond Scam, due to the personal relationships he and your family has with the Mahendran family.

But the fact that he hasn’t done that is reason enough to remove him from the state office.

Further more, please let him speak for himself, rather than use you as an apologist.

I hope you do not follow in his footsteps of professional and ethical conduct.

Of course politics is a dirty game. And in that game good and bad men and women associate. Why do people venture in politics and eager to go to parliament and spend millions of money to achieve that goal. That money and much more can be made while in parliament and particularly while in the cabinet. They are not there to serve the people. But they prosper in the name of the people.

Ravi is a good man but why all these acquisitions about him I wonder. There cannot be smoke without fire.
Money is the eye of all evils.

Your father is a crook, liar and a cheat. There is absolutely no doubt about that. You should be ashamed to call a man of that calibre your father, but then blood is thicker than water.
It’s because of born crooks like your father and his cohorts that the pearl of the indian ocean is gradually going from bad to worse and eventually failed and bankrupt state.
Your father is a catholic by religion ( correct me if i am wrong ) and what he forgets is that divine justice will eventually catch up with him one final day and when justice is meted out to him it will be to late for him to turn around and say ” where did it all go wrong ” .
The mill of God grinds very slowly but surely.
Finally read the following carefully, very carefully.

    A lie.
” A lie is a good and valuable thing. A wonderful and precious thing to hold in reserve. But never use this jewel until you have exhausted every truth. Truth is common stuff, ready to your hand, but lies you have to make up yourself, and you can’t be sure they are any good until you have used them all and then it’s too late. “

We are sure that your so called honest father never learnt this at school for he went to the school of liars and cheats.
May almighty God the final judge have mercy on you all.

Nangi, This entire robbery is about billions of rupees that belonged to the poor people of Sri Lanka; we remember how your father pointed the finger at the Rajapaksas continuously but all of you and even Interpol failed to prove anything substantial. That’s why he is now jokingly asks: ‘Venasa Sapada’ (Is the Change cool)? Now the Peoples’ court has apparently acquitted him from the severe allegations.
Nevertheless, the UNP’s Royal circle with its chief Mr. Clean at its helm and your father had no such issue; they called themselves crystal clean democrats and were against the war. They got a country without bombs and terrorists; economy was slowly getting its strength and highways and skyscrapers in major cities were good symbols of future progress. The Yahapalana leaders could have democratically run the country with transparency. Why didn’t it happen? Instead of devising plans to develop the national economy they have apparently devised plans to steal the Central Bank within hours of coming to power!
Now the public eye is on your dad, Mr. Clean, and your party (UNP)’s big wigs who defended Bond Scam with footnotes. As I mentioned, they have started stealing public money from day one and your father is in the forefront of the alleged gang of robbers. You are right to say it is a big government! Therefore, the gang of robbers may also go beyond Yahapalana cabinet, UNP MPs and some of MS’ supporters. It is your duty to divulge whatever information you possess about the robber gang. Probably you can be a government witness and support the Attorney General’s Dept!

Onella Wiranthi Karunanayake expresses her agony through “Why Only My Father’s Name Comes Up All The Time In Such A Huge Government?”
Each case must be treated on its own merit. Surely you are not suggesting that ALL the other case must be sorted out before RK is tackled?
Equally important, if KV is found to have “No case to answer” the others cannot and MUST not be allowed to join the gravy train.

    Onella,

So it appears you seem to make out your father as some sort of a hero?

Or, is it that he is one among many in the government who are just like him?

Either way, you don’t seem to know the gravity of the issue.

dear onella ,before you defend your dad you better know what he said at the commission. Some parts of his testimony was deleted because it was so embarrassing for the country.

I thank the members of the commision for inquiring about the apartment that was leased and then subsequently purchased by my family. On inquiring about this purchase from my family after all this uproar only i have found out that i have a wife and 3 daughters. Before that due to my very busy shedule and coming only to the apartment to sleep i was under the impression that i had a wife and 2 daughters.I did see onella once in the apartment but thought she was one of my daughters friends coming in for a sleep over as i got only a fleeting glimpse of her as i was rushing into my room to change my clothes and flop on the bed and go to sleep. Now due to this commission we are all now reunited as one happy family of four instead of three as was earlier in the back of my mind.

regardless of the commissions findings as family is every thing to me i thank the hon members and particularly attorney general Livera,if not for his relentless persuance of me there was a grievious possibilty that i could have lost a daughter by her slipping out of my mind completely.

There you have it dear the sad unedited part of the proceedings.Do you still wish to continue to defend your dad who did not know who you were?

    Dear Onella,
We feel for you. It is such an era the information that was hidden from the public somehow takes the center stage, irrespective of hard you try to hide them. Before the internet age your father and his clan could enjoy the luxury of doing anything they like and then simply getting away by controlling the information as the reins of the media outlets were held tightly by the ruling political party.

Dear innocent one, it is the internet age to be blamed for crucifying your father when much more corruption by others in the previous governments went without even anyone raising an eyebrow. Those same people are sitting alongside your father in this massive government without facing the same scrutiny for what they have done. It is so unfair only your father’s wrong-doings are investigated and others are just hiding their crimes by just pointing finger at your father.

Mahinda had to learn this the hard way but your father had all the chances to learn from MR’s mistakes not to get into the same snare in this internet age. RK is doomed. Hopefully for the good of the nation.

We are with you on this one. We should investigate present and past crimes of all in the politics. It should not be just your father or the scams of that scale…

    Dear Onella
You are an adult and not a kid. Will you come forward and answer how you got that amount of money and face the consequences?

It appears your cowardly father is hiding behind you and your mother like the proverbial ‘hiding behind the mother’s sari’! Your father has accused you and your mother for the possession and purchase of the 165 million Rupee luxury apartment. Does an apartment go for that much? Was the Inland Revenue informed of such a purchase?
