Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) C.V. Wigneswaran has taken issue with a statement made by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Highways Dilan Perera with respect to NPC Expenditure.
Wigneswaran, writing directly to Perera, refers to a news item in the Virakesari (December 21, 2017) which quotes Perera querying Wigneswaran about what he was going to do with Malaysian aid when he was unable to spend monies given by the Government of Sri Lanka.
Wigneswaran claims that this is an oft-repeated charge and attributes such to ‘ulterior motives’ by his political opponents who he supposes deliberately sling mud at the administrative machinery of the NVP and its governing party (Tamil National Alliance) ‘in order to mislead and misguide the general public.’
In order to appraise Perera as well as the general public, Wigneswaran has provided correspondence with the General Treasury as well as the ‘Financial Expenditure Report of the NPC (2015-2017).
He demonstrates that at the end of the Financial year 2017 Rs 850.12 million had not been released from the Treasury and calls upon Perera to ‘rectify statements made blaming the Chief Minister.’

Once again, you are far from the truth. I have known Justice CVW for long. He is quite happy with Tamils – as with all others – in the South, North and elsewhere. He is a thorough gentleman from a family of much respect, integrity as well as considerable wealth.
He entered politics to bring peace, reconciliation and unity to the country – and, above all, restore normalcy and dignity to the Tamil Nation. He will refuse to be part of the venal, dishonourable political garbage you see around. Such a man, sadly, meets with much resistance in our existing political culture – from the North as well the South. That is to be regretted.
FYI, once a SC Judge, it is not improper to refer to one as Justice so and so – even when your tenure is over. Please, let us respect and honour the few good ones in our political landscape – Sinhala, Tamil or any other.

Stop posting lies . Even according to your government statistics. 70%of the Tamils from the north and east live in the north and east . The rest largely in the greater Colombo area. You must understand a high percentage of Sri Lankan Tamils living in the south are not only in Colombo but still live in ancient Tamil villages along the North West coast like Udappu in the Chilaw district and in large areas of the Puttalam districts. All these areas were once part of the Tamil Jaffna kingdom and these ancient Tamil villages ( Hindu and Catholic) are the remanent of the Tamil population that have retained their ancient Tamil identity, whilst the rest of the population in these areas became Sinhalese during the early to mid twentieth century. Out of the entire Tamil population in the island( Indigenous and Indian origin) 52% live in the north and east and 48% in the south and the vast majority of them are Indian origin estate Tamils who had always lived down south.

Peace for Tamils living in Sinhala areas depends on peace in Tamil areas. Peace for Tamils in Tamil areas will materialise only if they rule themselves without Sinhala interference. On this basis, had I been residing in Colombo still, I would vote for independence.

It is customary for Politicians from the majority Government parties for the last 70 years or so bring down the Country with cheap politics. They somehow come to power using race, caste and religion and dividing the Country. It is not easy for them to give up their custom acquired over the last 70 years. They should be thankful there is non in their cabinet who can keep out corruption and it helps them continue with it. Hon. CM of Northern Province is in record for bringing to books some members in his council for fraud. In the absence of a top executive like the Hon. There is discrimination against ethnic and religious minorities in Malaysia, yes, but their infrastructure, industries, transport and standard of living of ordinary folks far outweigh Sri Lankans’. Because the leaders love their country and ours their families. Singapore gave parity of status to all ethnic and linguistic minorities, people are happy to work without animosity among communities. It has no natural resources but enjoy the highest standard of living. Many Sri Lankans of all races work there as professionals and maids.
India can survive itself and self sufficient in almost everything. But the corruption and greedy rich enslave the poor.

Perera querying Wigneswaran about what he was going to do with Malaysian aid?
This is a question about some money that was not given, but by fear, Dilan trying to stay ahead in blocking game if any offers come to funs NPC. His aiming is not getting some need foreign money for the countries development, but blocking anything the Tamils can get and destroying them. Discrediting CV with one speech in one stage, with one sentence is not easy deed in Dilan’s perception. He wants to draw CV for enduring, mudslinging Southern style games.
The question raised by Dilan is trying to give meaning to it-self that CV is an established leader in wasting resources. Carefully avoiding not blindly accusing CV as a swindler, but saying that he was a good judge, is not to credit CV, but to make him looks like a handicapped fool, who, while bribe giving and taking is an efficient file moving mechanism employed elsewhere in Lankawe, CV has adamantly reduced the NPC as an immature, ostensibly idyllic childish institution. After all, this is NPC which was described by Dilan’s previous boss, Younger Brother Prince as “All they legally can do is changing the bub to the lamp posts”, after TNA winning the election in 2013.
Dilan’s question may and/or may not be difficult to answer. Dilan’s implied answer of the CV is a guaranteed waster is one easy way. CV’s supporters, who in the past had learned to put faith on SJV, Sampanthar like politician may want to say that “he is a reliable man, so anything Malaysia gives him he will put it to people use” is other side easy way. The difficult path is, analyzing and allocating among the numerous problems the NPC, which is the poorest in the provinces, is facing.

Yahapalanaya does not have a deed that is active for their Unity government. To gain some self-popularity, Dilan has been using that gap to blast same side goals on Ranil for some time. Now the talk of new lease of UNP-SLFP partnership is in the back burner as the LG election has been declared. So Dilan is condemned to swing in the LG circus without his rope. – Empty handed. That is why he is picking on CV.
As the commentator Richard always points out in his CT comments, “blow high the racial horns, never mind about the country’s future”. That is the way to go for LG election also as per Dilan’s advice.
