Wigneswaran’s Oath Taking controversy Resolved After President Swears In Dayasiri And Ekanayake

The controversy over Northern Province Chief Minister Justice C.V. Wigneswaran‘s swearing in ceremony is seen to be resolved after the new chief ministers of the North Western and Central Provinces gave oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa this afternoon.

Chief Ministers of North Western was sworn in at the President’s Secretariat this morning

The TNA which has refused to have its new Chief Minister sworn in before provincial governor and ex Major General G.A. Chandrasiri requested the President to swear Wigneswaran in at a ceremony to be held in Jaffna. Initially some Government officials said constitutionally the Governor had to swear in Chief Ministers although the TNA disagreed.

Dayasiri Jayasekera and Sarath Ekanayake took oaths before President Rajapaksa in Colombo today as chief ministers of the North Western and Central Provinces.

The President is yet to respond officially to the request by the TNA to swear in Wigneswaran, Colombo Telegraph learns.

      “do it in Borella cemetry”

Next time around MR should take his oath at Borella cemetery and set a precedent, as it stands no one has done it before.

Therefore you may have to wait for another few years before you can dig up a resting place.

Jungle Boy, I’m not sure whether you should be more embarrassed by your ignorance of history or your lack of an appreciation of humour.

“Jungle Boy, I’m not sure whether you should be more embarrassed by your ignorance of history or your lack of an appreciation of humour.”

It is bit rich the concept of “appreciation of humour” coming from a tight arsed grave digger like you.

Did my comment rekindle your memory of your former employment in the army?

I am sorry if I haven’t offended you enough let me try next time, city slicker.

Which version of your history am I ignorant of, Mahawamsa, white man’s burden, End of civilisation or history, Sinhala Tamil myths, horrible history for children, ….Oriental Despotism?

Blacker is a shameless apologist for the Army. It was disgusting to read his unsympathetic comments on dead widows and children – killed by the army during the May 2009 time. He cannot write
a sentence without degenerating into obscenity.

David is a secret admirer of VP, once he published a piece in which he alluded to his admiration for LTTE. LTTE was run by a right wing despot.

Blacker too admires and justifies all forms of atrocities committed by armed forces, including prison massacres.

He forgets too often natural justice catches up all those perpetrators sooner or later.

“I think Hon. Vigneshwaran can take his Oaths before Julampitiye Amare as he is Justice of Peace for all Island.”

Julampitiye Amare is the standard bearer why not the Chief Justice? Isn’t he qualified to administer oath?

Do you think that Chief Justice is no way near Amare in terms of track record?

      Native

Agree with you if you change “Chief” as “Cheap”. After all Julampitiye Amare killed for Rajapaksha’s and Cheap Justice also doing all these injustice for Rajapaksha’s.

I am cringing seeing Dayasiri, the man who ravaged Rajapaksa all these years, accepting the post of CM from the very same man. The baring of teeth by Dayasiri is false and shows what a hypocrite he is.

Rajapaksa has made so many people grovel at his feet in so short a time. See how Sri Lankans fall so easily for wealth and power. Such unprincipled opportunists.

I think the President fears embarrassment and humiliation if the swearing ceremony takes places in the presence of foreign Ambassadors and High Commissioners as well as Dr.Shirani Bandaranayake. There is also a vast difference between the Chief Ministers of North Western and Central Provinces on one hand and C.V.Wigneswaran on the other hand. Above all, the building for NP Provincial Council should be ready., where they could have a ceremonial opening with the swearing ceremony.

It is a shmae for the President of a country to behave like this.
He keep on saying that Sri Lanka is one country and there is no minruity and any oine can live any where etc etc .

By this act he has openly demonstrated that ther are two nations.
The Sinhala Nation of which he is President and a Tamil nation of which he not the President.

In his recent series of interviews also he has demonstrated that he is not the Presidnet of the Tamils.

    One Country two nations

RajahsH – It was 3 Kingdoms (States) in one country prior to the 16th century. Around 1926 that great Sinhala Nationalist of latter
decades SWRD told the Jaffna Youth Association he is for Federalism
to the 3 entities after the British leave.

As several Tamil writers and political leaders in this
blog insist it is “Two Nations in One Country” now. Already Gajendran Ponnambalam’s Party has chosen this path for reconciliation and the futre. As Usha S of the TGTE says “better get used to it, fellas”

Puppet cheap minister still not sworn in?

What’s the use anyway? Douglas Devananda will be soon appointed the district minister for Jaffna and Bathirdeen will be the district minister for Vanni. They rank HIGHER than the Cheap Minister!

it would be great to see the oath ceremnoy given by the President take place in the north giving a chance for many Tamils to see the cermenony take place for the person they bravely voted for.

They not demanding to be brought in lorry roads for the ceremony, nor to be served kiribath, treacle, banana. Not forgetting the drummers and fire crackers.
Fire crackers would be a real fun thing for little Tamil children of the north.

This should be treated as a pious ceremnony- dedicating -that Chief Minister Wigneswaran will do a good job – expected by the Tamils of the north.
