While winds of peace have gathered momentum in the skies above the Middle East and West Asia; the threat of war has gradually subsided and receded – almost simultaneously. Following months-long military confrontations, amid intermittent showdowns and stalemates, the world is witnessing a turnaround, and signs of dawning peace in the ME, albeit slowly but surely, much to the joy and solace of all. The WA and Gulf region; hitherto remained a flashpoint/hotspot for over 3 months, and once on the brink of renewed escalation, is on the threshold of peace and stability at last. The optimism on the part of the world community, viz-a-viz prospects of ushering peace amidst a new world order in the making cannot be understated.
US and Iran In Pursuit of Peace: Brokered by Pakistan
The US – Iran reached and signed a preliminary framework agreement to end hostilities on 14th June, inter-alia, aimed at,
1. Termination of hostilities: A 60-day ceasefire extension and immediate termination of military operations on all fronts.
2. Reopening trade routes: Reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports.
3. Diplomatic talks: A 60-day window for intensive negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program and broader sanctions relief
Despite the agreement, there are thorny and major points of contention, including,
1. Israel’s position: Israel and Hezbollah have voiced caveats, with Iran insisting on Israel’s withdrawal of troops from Lebanon, which the U.S. and Israel haven’t accepted.
2. Skepticism: U.S. lawmakers are demanding details on the agreement, expressing doubts about its ability to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities
Be that as it may, the peace agreement signed electronically on 14th June, indeed has given fresh impetus, renewed hope, and a new lease of life to all and sundry, within and beyond the ME and West Asia, which is home to dozens of US military bases. The humanity all throughout, including in the remotest places on the earth, is breathing a sigh of relief for what it means to them, and more so to those on the frontlines, be it in Iran Lebanon, Israel and countries in close proximity. The US-Iran peace agreement, and eventual military de-escalation and troop withdrawals on the cards, will surely bear the hallmarks of the first undeniable signs of dawning peace in the war-torn region of WA and the ME.
President Trump’s Twin Triumphs: US-Iran Deal and Trump’s 80th Birthday
Let’s have a closer look at the turning points in the hitherto prevailed US-Israel joint aggression against Iran, culminating in the peace deal struck on the 14th June 2026, which coincidentally fell on the 80th birthday of President Donald J. Trump, who in he-insight had the good fortune of celebrating twin triumphs, having achieved a diplomatic breakthrough with Iran. Announcing the US – Iran framework agreement, President Trump in a twitter message touted his achievement, calling it a historic feat viz-a-viz signing a complete agreement, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and an end to the U.S. blockade on the 14th, rekindling hopes of an end to decades-old US’s hostilities with Iran, amid durable peace, which he dubbed as a “win-win” situation. President Trump is expected to seek bipartisan consensus from the Congress for the peace agreement, which would enable him to garner approval of both the Congress and the Senate, and most importantly; the crucial support and blessings from the American public.
Peace Comes Too Little; Too Late
The high intensity war fought from February up-until early May, with intermittent bouts of attacks was not in the least interesting to people of Iran and elsewhere in the region. It’s a double whammy for the Iranian people to be caught-up between US/Israel military onslaught on the one hand, viz-a-viz widespread suppression of political dissent, severe economic inequality, and brutal enforcement by the state security forces of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the other. A case in point is the brutal crackdown and suppression of the mass students’ uprisings and nation-wide anti-government protests in February 2026 resulting in the deaths of over 7000 people (documented), while it is believed that the real figure is alleged to be around 35,000 – 40,000 according to unconfirmed sources. Those who have witnessed and experienced first-hand, the absolute horror, unprecedented carnage, death and destruction caused to thousands of innocent people and loved ones, are simply heart-broken to say the least. What’s left at the end of the war is simply beyond one’s comprehension and imagination, besides a war-battered nation, alongside war-weary peoples and communities across swathes of landscape at the mercy of none, let alone the so-called war-mongers or liberators. Worst of all, those who bore the brunt of the firepower ought to continue the rest of their lives in a state of shock and destitution, not knowing what lies ahead, and what future holds for them and their families in the months and years to come. That’s the stark reality in the minds of thousands of war-victims, who inherited nothing but the raw, psychological scars of combat, haunting memories and a living nightmare. Needless to note, such victims of war ought to continue with traumatic life experiences in war-ravaged areas and villages, as history has proven time and again.
US, Iran and Pakistan Confirm the Status Quo
The landmark US – Iran deal, which garnered praise from European allies ahead of the G7 summit, is seen as a major morale booster for President Trump’s dwindling public image and approval rating, both home and abroad. President Trump’s announcement also coincided with “UFC Freedom 250”, an event at the White House, ahead of America’s 250 birthday celebrations on 04th July 2026. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, confirmed striking a deal with the US, but stopped short of announcing further details. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, taking to twitter confirmed that a peace deal between the US and Iran has been reached, announcing the next steps towards signing the agreement in Geneva, Switzerland on 19th June, being the sole mediator, and go-between in the weeks and months since the war broke out in February. Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif and Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani deserve credit for their commitment, and statesmanship in brokering the peace agreement in good faith, viz-a-viz United States, and for making the deal a reality despite tensions and threats along the way.
Thaw in US – Iran Relations
The signing of the historic US – Iran framework agreement slated for 19th June 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland, will herald a new chapter in US – Iran relations. The United States severed formal diplomatic relations with Iran on April 7, 1980, following the Iranian takeover of the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979. Ever since, the two countries have maintained no official embassies or ambassadors, though they have recently begun re-engaging in limited, indirect diplomatic talks. The U.S. Embassy in Tehran has remained closed since 1980, and Iran has no embassy in Washington, D.C. either. In the absence of formal ties, Switzerland acts as the protecting power for U.S. interests in Iran, while the Embassy of Pakistan represents Iranian interests in the United States. Due to the lack of U.S. diplomatic presence, consular services for U.S. citizens in Iran are heavily restricted and facilitated through the Swiss Embassy’s Foreign Interests Section in Tehran.
Peoples’ Mood and Optimism At Peak with Renewed Expectations
Even before the actual signing of the US – Iran peace agreement due on the 19th in Geneva, Switzerland, the sense of euphoria and optimism among people across the world appear to be overwhelming, and dramatic. The announcement of a peace deal itself has sparked widespread jubilations and celebrations in the US, ME and Gulf countries. The people in the region have been yearning for peace from the inception of war, especially those who bore the brunt of hostilities and attacks against civilian infrastructure. It was a moment of joy and jubilation to all from the war-battered region. It is reported that the Iranian people in particular have been completely overwhelmed and overjoyed in hearing the breakthrough, whilst masses across the country have taken to streets in celebration of Iran’s resilience, defiance and triumphalism against its perceived adversaries. The feelings and sentiments among the Iranian public have risen to all time high in the hope of ushering lasting peace and stability after decades of hostility, instability and coercion albeit a renewed thaw with Gulf nations. The people who endured sufferings and trauma on the frontlines of the war would be the most-relieved and the happiest, given their plight over years of tensions and fear-psychosis in complete isolation, with no signs of peace dawning.
Financial Markets React and Economies Rebound with Upbeat Streak
In the wake of signing US – Iran deal electronically on 14th, financial markets and world economies across the globe have reacted enthusiastically amidst all shares indexes and share markets showings massive gains and upwards swings including the Wall Street share indexes such as S&P, Dow Jones Industrial Average and NASDAQ Composite showing remarkable capital gains; marked by market stabilization and positive sentiments. The US crude oil prices including Brent, WTI hovered around $75 to $t77 per barrel, falling to their lowest levels since early March. The price drop is largely driven by prospects of the US-Iran interim deal which saw economic rebound and reopening shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, and surge in oil exports. As the media plays it out, US – Iran deal underscores its vitality and significance for the countries near and far in terms of stabilizing markets and status quo across the world, with renewed hopes and optimism reverberating across continents, with the prospects of dawning of a new world order for the whole of humanity and countries across the world. It is learnt that Iran has already started exporting oil through Straits of Hormuz, with renewed assurances and security guarantees to Gulf countries for navigation of cargo vessels and oil tankers boosting oil revenues, trade and exports in the region. The energy and oil sectors too have reported surges in production and manufacturing outputs, while companies and industries based in the Gulf region have increased their capacities and sales in so far as to catering to demands and orders already held up for months, for want of clearance of cargo vessels and ships for navigation through Straits of Hormuz which remained closed for months.
Peace Agreement to Benefit Iran
Whilst nitty-gritties of the US-Iran peace agreement are shrouded in mystery, and yet on the cards, it appears that the peace deal, by and large is far-reaching, viz-a-viz to the full extent of striking an open and verifiable framework taking Iran – US relations to a new height. Among other things, the agreement, inter-alia, entails the prospects of initiating trade and investment deals, and other initiatives encompassing a gamut of spheres and interests. Iran also is to benefit from the EU agreeing to lift its embargo on goods and services, with potential trade and investments deals to be explored. Meanwhile, Iran will be allowed to proceed with its oil and other commodity exports under fair trade, and within the WTO framework. The Straits of Hormuz once again remain open for cargo vessels transporting oil and other commercial cargo alike. Meanwhile Iran is supposed to guarantee peace and security of all Gulf nations under the agreement. As part of the deal, Iran’s frozen assets in billions of dollars are slated to be released, while the US embargo on Iranian assets are expected to be lifted upon Iran guaranteeing its centrifuging of uranium is only for peaceful purposes, while the fate of enriched uranium stockpiles are yet to be decided.
It’s Time for Peace Building: World Reacts with Euphoria and Optimism
This is not a time for media hype, nor should there be undue declaration of triumphalism over war victims, especially on the eve of formalizing and signing the peace agreement. After all, humanity has endured unimaginable suffering for far too long. Peace loving Americans in millions throughout the country have embraced Bhante Pannakara’s message of peace and spirituality during the 2300-mile:110-day Walk for Peace led by him and group of monks from the Buddhist Monastery in Fort-worth, Texas in October 2025, and culminating in Washington DC. on 12th February 2026. They deserve sincere appreciation for promoting peace, non-violence and loving kindness captivating millions of Americans. The US – Iran peace deal also had the blessings of a congregation of Buddhist Monks convened at the White House recently where they invoked blessings on President Trump and the people of America on the occasion of Vesak Celebrations in May 2026.
Closing Remarks & Takeaways
The war on Iran has impacted almost every nation on earth, stemming from its negative consequences on spiraling cost of fuel, food and cost of living, rising inflation, market volatility, strain on exports & imports, livelihood and well-being of millions of people across the globe. Let’s pray and hope that there never will be yet another escalation of sorts akin to the status-quo in WA and the Gulf region. By all counts, the war on Iran reached a stalemate with neither side appearing to have won or lost, at the least. Given that the United States and Iran are closer than ever to signing a historic peace agreement in Geneva Switzerland on the 19th June, let all parties to the conflict, both within and without, breathe a sigh of relief. The US-Iran agreement essentially provides a beacon of hope, and reasons to be optimistic. It’s time to chart a new course, building upon peace, mutual trust and understanding with consensus with all. Simply put, it sounds as if a new world order is in the making, for the sake of a secure, peaceful and stable world for all, in the name of humanity and kindness.

Sarath,
Your phrase “viz-a-viz” is gramatically wrong.
“Viz.” is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase videlicet, meaning “namely,” “that is to say,” or “specifically.”
.
Vis-à-vis means “in relation to,” “compared with,” “face to face with,” or “opposite”, depending on context.
/
Sarath / June 20, 2026
OC
Yes, it depends on the context and what you intended to convey to the readership. Read the AI definition of viz-a-viz Vis-à-vis (pronounced vee-zuh-vee) is a versatile French loanword meaning “in relation to” or “compared with.” It is used in professional or formal contexts to draw a comparison or to establish a connection between two subjects, concepts, or entities. But in writing, it is typically used to mean:”In relation to”Compared with””With regard to” etc
Given the above, the context in which the phrase viz-a-viz has been used in the article perfectly aligns with its broader definition and meaning. Thanks

Thanks. I have already admitted my lapse to OC in no uncertain terms. Not just once, it is more than once. See my initial reply to OC below where I accepted my error. Read this.

Simply put without the verbosity: the US surrendered.
–
The surrender was signed in Versailles.
–
Terms are no different to The Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919.)
–
“The Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919): Signed in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, this formal peace treaty dictated severe punitive measures against Germany, including massive financial reparations, severe military downsizing, and significant territorial losses.”

You are “a Diplomat,” Sarath. Moreover, a Lankan diplomat!

I have no idea how all these treaties bind countries. However, it seems that India/Hindians are now willing to sign other agreements, such as the UK–India FTA. What caused this change in approach? Did Trump’s erratic behaviour play a role in changing India’s position? Otherwise it would have been Himalayan task to persuade the entrenched position of functionaries.

To be honest with you, an “end-game” is deeply subjective. For some, “US- Iran peace agreement” can mean a foundation for lasting honorable peace, and win-win situation for all sides, while others might see it as a strategic end to maximize individual advantage in order to appease their own electorates and constituents. Ultimately end of war could mean different things to different parties based on their individual and strategic objectives and perspectives.
I respect your candid opinion. But in a war situation, public perception is often shaped / formed by a complex interplay of propaganda and media coverage, different viewpoints and situation reports on the ground, personal anecdotes, collateral damage and losses – as well as gains by each side to the conflict, individual assessments and reviews by independent military analysts, so on and so forth. To be fair by all sides to the conflict, I summed up the status-quo on the ground with a generalized statement to the effect, – “by all counts, the war on Iran reached a stalemate with neither side appearing to have won or lost, at the least. which I believe is best reflective of the overall ground situation as of today. Thanks

President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have indeed hit record lows in recent nationwide surveys. Multiple polls—including those from NBC News and The New York Times—indicate widespread dissatisfaction, heavily driven by voter frustration regarding the economy, inflation, and recent military actions in Iran.
This is what “The Economist” reports as of 16th June 2026.
517 days into Donald Trump’s term, the president’s net approval rating is -20,
up 2.2 points since last week, 38% approve, 59% disapprove, 5% not sure.
Two weeks ago DJT’s net approval was -24, according to The Economist’s tracker of polling conducted by YouGov. That made him the most unpopular president since our survey started in 2009.
/
Jit / June 22, 2026
As recent as April, Pew Research centre (Pew) found 79% of Republican identifiers approved of Trump’s handling of the conflict, and 71% said the US made the right decision to use military force against Iran. The figures may be a bit different now, but you tell me Sarath, will the Republicans ditch Trump? Will the Dems wade through the Trump wave?? Who can challenge him despite our naive fantasies?? Which party will win today if elections were held? Kamala Harris? Newsom?? AOC?? You are dreaming!! Dems are as clueless as Sajith, Ranil or Namal in SL – how to win the next election!!

Thanks for comments. Surely, you must be quite familiar with the ground situation, and how DJT’s approval ratings have taken a direct hit in recent months.
Come mid-term elections in Nov 2026 in which all 435 seats in the House will be up for grabs, Republicans stand to lose the control of the house who currently hold a slim majority, and can only afford to lose a maximum of two seats to retain control. On the other hand, Democrats need to net a minimum of four additional seats to flip the chamber. No doubt, Republicans face exceptionally high stakes in the 2026 midterms.

You are spot on. That’s the million $ question in the minds of the majority interested in real and lasting peace in the ME and wider world. In fact Bibi’s current hawkish stance is largely driven by a profound generational shift toward right-wing politics and an evolving domestic political environment which makes all the difference in taking the peace agreement /process forward.
Any sudden escalation or skirmishes on the part of Israel, has the potential to take the peace negotiations backwards, and bring the process / status-quo to an abrupt halt. So Israel’s stance / patience is the key, and certainly could make / break the process.
You are absolutely right in questioning Israel’s modus-operandi in the current unfolding scenario. Thanks
/
Sarath / June 22, 2026
Chiv / Nimal ,
Though you seemed to be bit pessimistic on the prospects of US-Iran agreement, the latest ground situ tells a different story. Contrary to what is being said and reported by those who are harboring negative perceptions, all indications seem to suggest that the US – Iran peace agreement by and large is holding, and fundamentally intact, although it faces turbulence from ongoing Israeli operations in Lebanon and disagreements regarding the Strait of Hormuz, albeit, on the decline.
That being said, one cannot be overly optimistic too. The U.S. and Iran negotiations are said to be in good shape and gathering momentum while both sides appeared to have made steady progress in their negotiations in good faith, on the 60-day roadmap to end hostilities and establish peace in the ME, with the blessings of mediators and well-wishers.Thanks
/
chiv / June 23, 2026
Sarath, I guess you’re unaware of Trump’s empty threats on his Social Media to kill the high powered Iranian delegate and obliterate Iran, while negotiations were on. In fact Iranians threatened to walk out, refused hand shakes and photo ops with American counterparts.
My pessimism is based on just two war mongering criminals
mainly Psychopath Bibi and unpredictable Supreme liar.
we’ll know this is Bibi’s war and hence,
Bibi and Israel are now showing the Middle finger.
By the way soon after Pak mediation began, Trump agreed to the very same 14 point agenda in April/ May
only to deny important clauses including ceasefire in Lebanon, the very next day.
Bibi refused to stop bombing Lebanon / Gaza and Trump tried , attacking Iran ,one last time.
/
Sarath / June 23, 2026
Chiv,
Yes, despite a promising start, the negotiations now appear to be on a roller-coaster. It’s unfortunate that Israel’s aggressive military posturing is actively undermining fragile diplomatic negotiations, hardening Iran’s stance and rendering them completely unwilling to compromise and budge. If the US chooses not to rein in Israel, or conversely, if Israel defies US diplomatic priorities, the situation becomes highly unsustainable for all involved.
But VP Vance’s blunt response to Israel yesterday is significant. In fact VP issued an unprecedented warning to Bibi stating that “Israel is attacking the only powerful ally it has left in the world” and cannot resolve every national security threat through military force. Unless US put pressure on Israel, and walk the talk, the status-quo looks bit dicey at the moment. You are spot on.

There is nothing old-fashioned about correct language. You can’t spray your writing with non-existent phrases like “viz-a-viz” and expect readers to keep quiet.
Stick to simple language. “Compared to” means the same as “vis-a-vis” (not viz-a-viz).

“true Buddhist”
–
There are only 2 options: one can only be a Buddhist or not a Buddhist.
–
Adjectives like true, good, …… are superfluous and make things unnecessarily complicated. :)))
–
–
The debate is simple …… compare Trump’s stated objectives before starting the war – complete unconditional surrender.
–
What is it now?
–
Were the objectives met?
–
Narratives woven on the run ……. are for the mentally very young …… and infirm.
–
The world is full of them!
–
–
From earlier …….. At this stage of my life I’ve come to believe that education, religion and culture, in the main, is nothing but a gang rape of our minds that smothers independent thinking and prevent us from thinking for ourselves.
–
I’ve read the story of a girl who was gang raped, and later she would sit in the bath tub for hours trying to wash it away day after day. This is what I’ve done most of my adult life; trying to wash away the gang rape of education, religion and culture. Some days are good some days are not.
–
I despise “trained” “system-thinkers” who can’t take the blinkers off and get off the tracks they are put to travel on. It’s too predictable; where they start and where they end. Unfortunately Lankan tradition is too steeped in Oxbridge/Ivy-league tradition. We can’t help it; it’s our tradition/training.

Most writers/analysts, subconsciously, are still trying to gain the “master’s approval.” :))

Of course, as the old adage goes, nobody in this world is perfect and there is no such thing called a perfect person / true Buddhist. While people’s abilities, intelligence and wisdom vary, there’s no perfect human being, or true / perfect Buddhist for that matter, ever born, lived or will ever be born in the universe. Talking of the Buddha for instance, he presented himself as an ordinary, enlightened human being. While early scriptures place human birth above the animal realm, the Buddha emphasized that humans who succumb to greed, hatred, and ignorance sink into mental states and behaviors – and often subsequent karmic rebirths – equated with or below lower animals.
I believe a religion or belief systems act as a framework for meaning-making, offering moral guidance and binding communities together. Buddhism for instance, is not a religion but a way of life that helps people stay in good-stead by providing practical tools to cultivate inner peace, emotional resilience, and ethical behavior. By focusing on mindfulness, compassion, and letting go of unhealthy attachments, it stabilizes the mind during life’s inevitable challenges. These are the fundamental tenets of Buddhist philosophy. Any arguments to the contrary or any deviation from these core principles constitute hypocrisy, and lead to falsehoods.

It seems that my use of the word “ tiny brain” has opened a hornet’s nest. But what concerns me most is the fact that more than you it is those around you who seemed to have been more upset and overly agitated about it. I simply have no idea why they seem so naive ?

It only revealed what a petty mind someone has.

Come on. After all we, humans are born with “tiny brains”, and of course do not inherit “tiny minds” as you tend to imply.

Leave it. I have a feeling that our beloved late SM has somehow come back to life in you.

I think we should focus on more important matters—such as how Mr. Nutless and his Siamese twin, TT (also known as Deepthi), have labeled me as a man from Tamil Nadu.

The assumptions made by both of these personas are more or less the same. I believe that Lester is actually the same person, pretending to be Deepthi or TT girl.

Hello OC,
Or should I say “punchi moḷaya” as you have been called. I bet the favourite English poem of the person that called you that, was “Jaberwocky”.
Time to start brandishing the Vorpal Blade?

Come on folks. don’t you have anything else to do other than playing around with / zeroing in on just one word. Let your tiny brains focus on the bigger picture here, ie, the core message and substance in itself. I’m afraid this is not a spell “B” or English comprehension as if you seemed to think. Believe this is the problem with our so- called old-fashioned “english” spin doctors. Thanks

OC,
among all Clowns, JD seems the saner one.
Is it because he is married to a high IQ South Indian woman.
I definitely think so………. LOL . . . . . ( ask Sunak )
Apparently Iran will receive 300 billion in agreed investments + 20 to 30 Billion of frozen assets ++++ windfall of Petro Dollars from booming oil sales
apparently 20 to 30 million worth oil is being shipped daily
In U.S , we call this . . . . . . . . ” THE ART OF THE DEAL “
Regardless of random USPC visits, post war U.S is in NO shape,
to even dare Lanka, leave alone attacking Iran again.
(unless they want to pay additional 300 Billion )
War Minister is asking for additional 80 Billion to pay unpaid bills of contractors.
Anyway, the spineless Congress , finally found it’s voice to pullout unlimited war powers of TACO.
He still can veto, but will be challenged in S.C.
Hopefully flicker at the end of never ending tunnel called MAGA.
As a Senator mentioned today ,
TACO’S Operation Epic Fury turned out to be Epic Disaster / Surrender

A good article, btw. It looks like Iran is using its leverage over Hormuz to undermine not only the US, but Israel as well. This is something Iran could have done when Israel invaded Gaza. Hamas, the other proxy, was decimated. Now Iran is providing a lifeline to Hezbollah. The original master plan was to surround Israel on three sides (Gaza/Lebanon/Syria) and launch a three-pronged attack. Lebanon is now the only available asset.
/
Sarath / June 22, 2026

Contrary to your pessimistic assessment, all indications seem to suggest that the US – Iran peace agreement is holding, and fundamentally intact, albeit its progress is occasionally challenged by occasional setbacks. In particular, Israeli attacks on Lebanon could jeopardize the fragile peace agreement and its progress. Let’s pray and hope for the best.

$300B USD to re-arm Hezbollah, so it can continue to attack Israel? Recall the massive tunnel network built by Hamas with donor aid. Trump may want the “deal” for electoral purposes, whether it passes the litmus test (US Congress) is another question.

Vice President JD Vance has explicitly denied that the U.S. is committing $300 billion in taxpayer funds to Iran, clarifying that the proposed reconstruction package would be conditionally funded by private and regional Gulf Arab investors, not the American government. He is on record having denied this story on multiple times and with multiple sources.
Listen to what he said yesterday.

Sarath:
True. The money may not come from US taxpayers. Regardless, it will strengthen the hand of the IRGC. Aside from the proposed $300B USD investment, the US will immediately unfreeze billions in frozen Iranian money. That is not US taxpayer money either, but it will go straight to the Iranian government. Trump was critical of Obama for exactly this reason.
““Iran receives a windfall of $150 billion, which will no doubt fund terrorism around the world,” he (Trump) wrote in a September 2015 op-ed in USA Today.
At a December 2015 Republican presidential debate, Trump called it a “horrible, disgusting, absolutely incompetent deal with Iran where they get $150 billion,” adding: “They’re a terrorist nation.”
“I just don’t understand how we could have made a deal where we’re giving somebody that’s a terror nation $150 billion,” he said the next month in Iowa City.

Lester,
DJT seems to be changing the goal post too often, and he is famous for that. His critics often attack him for shifting his messaging, taking contradictory stances on social media, or adjusting his political arguments to align with the latest talking points. No wonder this guessing game is causing shock and havoc among political commentators, as the ongoing uncertainty leaves even seasoned analysts scrambling to make sense of the erratic and unpredictable unfolding events.
On the funding aspect however, VP made it abundantly clear the other day, which he repeated time again that no funds will be spent out of US tax payers money unless Iran agrees to sticking points in the agreement.

Keeping in mind, Iran will also be collecting fees on ships that pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The fees did not exist before the war began.
Regardless of who or what funds Iranian reconstruction, there is a rogue regime in Tehran.

Yes, it does make sense. But, it is too early to speculate on anything at this early stage of negotiations, in the midst of a 60-day road map on the cards.

I seriously doubt that Iran will be collecting fees, because after all , Iran disappeared in 2025.
Also, it was destroyed six times by Trump.

News not verified.
U.S Senate passes resolution to HALT WAR and remove U.S military forces from the conflict areas. Republicans Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Bill Cassidy and Lisa.M joined Democrats in passing resolution. Apparently Maverick Mitch and McCormick abstained from voting.
This resolution was approved in The House, by similar bipartisan voting, few days ago.

Hello OC,
Speaking of Iran disappearing in 2025; Starmer has disappeared from UK politics. He resigned not long ago. Looks like Burnham will replace him. Trump lost the War against Iran. Possibly JD Vance will replace him, but I hope they find someone better. Maybe Netanyahu is next to go?
Where is the World headed regarding the Middle East? Maybe the Vanni Nostradamus will tell us.

The latest ground situ tells a different story. Contrary to popular myths, beliefs and seemingly negative perceptions, all indications seem to suggest that the US – Iran peace agreement by and large is holding, and fundamentally intact, albeit occasional challenges and setbacks, which too seemed on the decline. Unfortunately, this may be bad news for Deepthi, as she has always wanted you to be a regular customer. She never failed to mention you in her comments to me.
I assisted her in obtaining much more through my contacts in Germany, particularly afro-Americans: after receiving her funds from them, she never mentioned them again. Typical Deepthi !
As she mentioned elsewhere, she was recently on another trip of Europe. I believe she is losing customers in Europe, while she and her brother are taking on new rich projects in Pasikuda, close to Israelis and Russians.

You, Lester (Deepthi, The Truth or whatever avatar you wear) shared personal information concerning your orchiectomy and mental health on your website. Do you remember?I had some medical information regarding the patients and their behaviours following womb removal (Hysterotomy) and genitals. The United States and Iran have signed a deal subject to 60-day negotiations. I hope the deal will stay this time. The existing ceasefire has shielded US bases and Iranian civilian targets from each other’s attacks.
In the meantime, my attention was drawn to a special 3-day visit to Sri Lanka by the US Pacific Air Force Commander.
In February this year, the US Pacific Fleet Commander visited Sri Lanka for a similar 3-day visit. One week after, the US attacked Iran amidst negotiations and there was a controversy involving Iranian ships.
Now, the US Pacific Air Force Commander is in Sri Lanka. Is the US planning an air attack on Iran within a week amidst negotiations? In which case, the Iranian delegation currently in Switzerland may not be able to return to Iran or there will be a friendly attack on their plane. Is the pattern just a coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. I don’t know.
/
SJ / June 22, 2026
Can you hold back on your soothsaying?
It is really daft.
/
Sarath / June 22, 2026
Champa,
Indeed what a strange coincidence of USPC visits to Sri Lanka which never occurred to me in the first place. But given the high stakes for US and all parties to talks, and the hush-hush discussion / negotiations taking place behind closed doors, mediated by Pakistan, and other stakeholders on the ground, I don’t think US would go to attack Iran at this stage of negotiations, at a time the negotiations are said to be off to a good start with all sides claiming (Pakistan etc) tangible progress being made on the initial rounds of the 60-day road map.
If at all what you seemed to imply is anything to go by, then its simply suicidal for the US to use peace agreement / negotiations as a cover to resort to attacking the other party with whom they are reportedly engage in serious negotiations. I doubt very much if at all there is any truth in that. But you never know what’s in their minds. Thanks
