Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) today.
The arrest follows several hours of questioning since morning by the FCID, over allegations of fraud at the Carlton Sports Network (CSN) channel.
Along with Rajapaksa, Rohan Welivita, head of CSN and media secretary to Mahinda Rajapaksa and Nishantha Ranatunga, were also arrested by the CID. They are expected to be produced before the Kaduwela magistrate courts. ( By Munza Mushtaq – CT )
ELDORADO / January 30, 2016
At last …it appears that the FCID and the wheels of justice have been coerced into action by the Maharagama BBS incident when the BBS Thero was arrested and refused bail, now followed by the the younger Rajapakse’s arrest. All this time it has been just talk talk talk and no action while the ousted regime was slowly stirring like a venomous viper uncoiling itself to strike ! Now we shall see some fun and games and see what this Government is made of. I very sincerely hope that the threatening wheels of justice will start grinding hereon, albeit slowly.

RE: Yoshitha Rajapaksa Arrested
“Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) today.”
Finally, the news we all were waiting for. It this going to be show?
Initially, Amarasiri thought it was for the Tajudeen murder. However, it looks like Yoshitha Rajapaksa has other honors under his belt.

Hope, this not a circus…. This should have happened long long ago!!! No bail please for the bastards!!!!
Isn’t it true that Rubavahini stuff were taken by the CSN and Rupavahini’s relay centre was used by them? Rubavahini was forced not to tender for the cricket matches to give a cheap cheap deal for CSN.
Can someone look at the night races, the electricity bill, etc?

Not only Yoshitha but also whole Rajapaksa faminly and all henchmen should be arrested and incarcerated for life.
/
Ansar / January 30, 2016
He probably should have been arrested for the murder of Wasim Thajudeen, but even this is some consolation for the civil society who worked so tirelessly for the ouster of this murderous regime.
One down, five to go. If anyone is having any confusion with number 5. It is none other than Shiranthi Rajapakshe for the Gold Heist.
I am sure all know the details up to number 4. The whole family was plundering and raping our country to the tilt, after the valiant Soldier saved our Motherland from the clutches of the LTTE.
At least now the people of Sri Lanka can reap the harvest of the peace if the racist forces are kept at bay spearheaded by MARA/GORA and executed by Ponnasara.

Regardless of whether Gnanasara or Roshitha, the law should be applied decisively, if they break the law. Good progress. The government seems to be kicking in, despite the confusing statements being made by Sirisena. I hope those of us who expected much from Sirisena are not forced to quote Wimal Weerawanse and lament, ” Aiyo! Sirisena”, soon.

I think that MS/RW Government is following d ‘Hemin, Hemin’ Policy, so as not to antagonise the thousands who still support MR and his Cohorts!
/
Dr.Rajasingham Narendran / January 31, 2016
Hamlet,
There was/is mounting pressure from the public for action. I always said that Ranil was giving MR a very long rope to hangs himself. The noose has been getting tighter since 8th January’ 2015 and MR has tighten it Into a noose now. I think MR should wisely stop tightening the rope further by his own stupid efforts. In the chess game, that requires brains rather than brawn, Ranil has scored.
Were the visits of the Indian aircraft carrier and Britich warship to the Colombo Harbour a coincidence or a vaccination to forestall violent reactions to the events ahead? Was the drama staged by Gnanasara at the Homagama courts an attempt to test the government and the law and mechanism? Was the sudden rise of the Sinha Le movement, a signal by the MR camp that they were ready for some violent action? Were the uncharacteristically strong statements of RW last week, a signal that the government was ready to act? Were the wishy washy and whimsical statements of Maithri in the past two weeks a tactic to calm MR supporters, ahead of what was impending? Was the decision to not textend the retirement dates of many senior military officials a wise move to forestall possible military reactions to actions against the misdeeds of the former government?
All these events coming together could not have been a random coincidence!

DR RN.
My long take on the happenings in SL are;
The South will be split between the extremists and the moderates, the extremists will win. The south will endure a blood bath. First political opponents, then Muslims, after the Sinhala Christians will all experience the kindness, they so dished out to the Tamil People.
In this space, Tamil Areas, especially the North and parts of the East will end up protective areas of regional powers, which will end up safe havens to those running away from the violence.
The Nation will reset to it’s political boundaries, to the times before the colonizers dropped in.
Your thoughts Doc ?
Thanks.

Vishvajith,’
I was agonizing how to answer your question about my thoughts, until I read an interesting article by Rohana R.Wasala titled ‘No more backing out at the hour of need Please!’ , in the Island newspaper of today.
http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=139578
The historical information cited by him crystallized my thoughts.
Despite the Buddhist Commision report of the early 1950,s and the vision of Methananda to in simple words, ‘ To Make Tamils, Sinhalese’, it has not happened, not withstanding the efforts made. The Tamils are more conscious of their identity as a community/ ethnic group, than ever before, despite their qualitative decline as Tamils. The Tamils living here in Sri Lanka have also quite quickly discarded the separatist ideology pedaled in their name by the Tamil politicians and the militancy. The LTTE and other militant groups are a bitter memory to be forgotten for most Tamils now. They want to develop and prosper as Tamils and equals within Sri Lanka, not withstanding the noise being made by the Tamil Diaspora and the fringe element amongst them. The same could be said of the Muslims too, who also have their extremist lunatic fringe within.
The sub divisional identity differences between the low country, mid country and the hill country Sinhalese, which were quite large at the time of independence, have been largely bridged now. The Tamils of so-called recent Indian origin, have also come into their own and increasingly a part of the national mosaic.
Despite what it is being made of by the extremist and die-hard fringe, this country is more united in heart than ever before. What was fractured by our politicians, has come together due to rational thinking forced by circumstances. This will endure. This is an undeniable fact. Most politicians and some monks are delusional and are unaware of this development. They are the curse besetting this country. Only if the politicians collude with the extremists and their lumpen followers, and the national security and police apparatus are part of a plot, could there be a communal conflagration once again, leading to a possible fracture of this country.
‘
The need of the hour is treating citizens as equals, recognizing communal rights, improving governance and the State administrative and service apparatus, decentralization of decision making, recognizing regional or provincial needs from a local perspective, purging the ranks of politicians and monks of the extremist fringe, improving the judiciary, civilizing the media and enforcing the law without fear or favor.
A long order, but achievable provided there is a will.
I will conclude by saying that there is absolutely no likelihood of this country breaking up, unless our stupid politicians as a collective, decide otherwise.
Dr.RN
This country can be divided only by the stupidity of our politicians, monks and extremists, using the lumpen elements around them, against the will of the majority of people in all communities.
The majority of Sinhaese though also more conscious of their communal/ ethnic identity are ready to accommodate the minorities within the ambit of a Sri Lanksn nation. Despite the efforts of the extremist/lunatic fringe amidst them. This I think was always so, but has become more so now,

This is good news to the country. Look at whats going on in Thailand. Payruth took over and within days he summoned the Takshin clan in groups of 25 per week to report to the military. They had to lay down an explanation where they got the money for their multi million bungalows and luxury cars. If there was no proof they had to give up their wealth and put to jail if anything illeagal was done.
Why cant Sri Lanka start with this type of cleaning?

This centuries Jack the Ripper who ones said he can buy just about anything without a whim. We want all these scoundrels alive. They should all be arrested and denied parole or bail. They should not even allowed be a presidential pardon. They all should be stripped of their titles they acquired by forging, cheating, blackmailing, intimidating, manipulating and bribing officials by financing their nefarious operations by the state should be acquired by seizing their assets. Their entire loot during the last decade amount to billions of dollars should be set as their bail bond. There money laundering schemes are all coming to light and the billions of dollars stashed overseas under falsely registered companies, businessmen and hedge fund managers in Switzerland, Dubai, Qatar, Seashells, Bermuda, Caymen Islands, Bahamas, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Botswana, Singapore, UK, USA, Malaysia, Macau, South Africa and China/Hong Kong should be confiscated.
