Disturbing Images: Rotten Egg Assaults On Persons Buying From Muslim Owned Shops

By Colombo Telegraph

Disturbing images have surfaced on an anti-Muslim Facebook page, that show rotten egg assaults on persons carrying shopping bags from a clothing chain vilified by hardline Sinhala groups carrying out a sustained campaign against Muslim enterprises.

The Facebook page, called Athugal Pura Sinha Pataw highlights the images of a man and a woman following an assault with eggs holding NOLIMIT bags.  The group’s motto is “Konda pana athi niyama sinhalayanta pamanai” (Exclusively for Sinhalese with a backbone)

Posted under the title Kurunegala Pursuit and Attack with Rotten Eggs and says “If you go to NOLIMIT or Fashion Bug we will attack. If you have their bags in your hand we will attack. And that is not all. Those who betray the race, even if they have police protection will be attacked with rotten eggs today, feces tomorrow.”

Country has been making slow economic progress. Bodu Bala Sena Budist Terroists are distroying the country by taking fund from foreign enemies.

Sad thing is. Why can’t the business leaders and other other Peace loving Budhist leaders protest these acts and speak to the President to put a stop to this one. We live in a Global village. Certaing the current development will stop the only growing tourist industry very soon. This is the ultimate motive of Sri Lanka’s enemies working outside the country.
Poor monks in Bodu Bala sena are destroying the country for their fame and money. Just think where do they suddenly get funds for hold ralleys, transport cost and Food and money for the 2000 henchmen who travel with them everywhere. These days just to hire vehicle from Colombo to Kandy it cost Rs. 12,000. Who pay them to destroy this Peaceful country. STOP THEM BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think time has come for average Sri Lankans to take law to his or her own hand and protect the innocent. There is no use in depending on the Government or the police. It should be the police who should be treated with Kunu Biththara as they are not doing their job. What a shame.

Those throwing the rotten eggs are the ‘ Rotten Eggs’. In our society. The only places designed for these rotten eggs are our jails. Why are they yet out in our streets?

That may be because they are under the protection of the government. As we all saw on the ugly videos, the fact that there were police around them did not seem to make them afraid, or halt the violence.
The police just watched with disinterest. Reminded me so much of the July 1983 riots, when they had the blessing of the JRJ government to do sweet nothing. Are we a racist nation or what?

        Dharisha,

We are not a racist nation, but a nation in the grip of the racists. I would prefer to use the word extremists, because all of us here are of the same race. We are a passive people, who genuinely say these acts are a sin
( paw anney or aiyo paavam) , but stand aside passively.

Being a Buddhist I am ashamed.. of my people.. the first they should be doing is educate buddhist what humanity is.. but I am sure.. with level of IQ and education levels they have .. It might be just too much for buddhist to digest.. Besides the only productive thing most buddhist who engage in these acts do….. is… nothing.. no job sleep until.. 10 and nothing else…

I am seriously considering to CHANGE MY RELEIGION I am ashamed to be a buddhist…

I think by now the majority who condemn such violence knows this is not truly representative of Buddhism.
We grew up with Buddhism everywhere, it is part of our life even though we may not be Buddhist. These are not true Buddhists, they are mutts led by false rumours of “charmed” toffees, and Sinhalese girls being take by Muslim men. It is really what ignorant people will believe. All religions have extremists, and they bring nothing but embarrassment and shame to their religions. This is Sri Lanka’s extremists, the Buddhist taliban.
Buddhism has always been a peaceful religion, and it should not be judged by those who pretend to be Buddhists but goes against the teachings of their Lord Buddha, to incite hate and attack others.
They also bring the country shame.

The Rajapakses need an enemy to survive. The Tigers are no more. The new enemy are the Muslims and once they are subjucated the next enemy would be the Christians.

How many of the Muslims here protested when the Taliban destroyed ancient Buddhist statues (UNESCO World Heritage) in Afghanistan? I do not remember a single Muslim anywhere protesting. If Sri Lanka became a Muslim caliphate, does anyone want to guess what would happen to the Sinhalese and Tamil temples, statues, etc.?

      Lester,

I quote “If Sri Lanka became a Muslim caliphate, does anyone want to guess what would happen to the Sinhalese and Tamil temples, statues, etc.?”

Shall we cull some Muslims, BECAUSE they didn’t protest? Or shall we cull them now in anticipation of Sri Lanka becoming a Caliphate?

I can imagine your pathos; hobson’s choice? No!

Where did I say to cull anyone? I merely pointed double standards.

BBS will harm/attack even the innocent sinhala budhist brothers and sisters if they cross their path. Doesnt it ring a bell ?? LTTE did the same thing to the tamils, killed them in thousands. So how different is BBS from the LTTE ?? Only time will tell…..

There were many things going on behind the scenes to threaten Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is time that these issues are highlighted by these incidents. If Fashion Bug and Nolimit are so innocent why are they not going to courts? They seem to be having something rather fishy in their operations, some thing they do not want the general public to know perhaps???

Tell me who benefited by going to courts in the recent pass, last few years……….???

I believe the Pepiliyana incident has been amicably settled. Wonder why the police did not press charges on the thugs.

    Throw eggs at the innocent
    people. But in the evening
    get ready to eat devilled
    beef. Why cannot any one
    think in a civilised way?

Huh Dr Ismail, the toothless, talking about devilled
    beef!!

What is wrong in eating devilled beef whether it is
    Halal or Non Halal?

Let the toothless dentist mind his own business instead of
making provocative remarks. Otherwise even the Maskada
Karayas at Thimbirigasyaya can be angry.

MIC wants to know why Police did not press charges.
The owners (three of them) of Fashion Bug now a
Fashion Mug were so frightened they were forced to
say they will not proceed. Otherwise they will not
get protection to run their fifteen outlets. That did
the job. Every one lived happily thereafter, at least
    until the next disaster occurs.

Where were the “good” Sinhalese when state sponsored riots against Tamils happened in 1956, 1958, 1977, 1981……… or against the Muslims in 1915?
In fact, a lot of Sinhalese gleefully joined the riots and burned unarmed children and families alive….. There is no such a thing as a good Sinhalese… No wonder Vijaya (father of Sinhala race) was exiled from his original motherland in Bengal for his wicked behaviors…[Edited out]! Buddha probably committed suicide in heaven after knowing that Sinhalese are Buddhists.
