12 Year Old Girl Child Gang Raped: Police On The Hunt For A Buddhist Monk

At least 12 people have been arrested and remanded for allegedly gang raping a 12 year old child girl in Matara. Among those arrested is a soldier as well as the woman who had rented out a room to the rapists.

The police is also currently on the lookout for a Buddhist Monk who had allegedly raped the girl. The monk is believed to be in hiding and the court has issued a foreign travel ban on the monk.

On July 10, the parents of the victim had lodged a complaint with the police informing them that their 12 year old daughter had gone missing. Subsequently, after a special search operation by the Matara Children and Women Bureau, the girl was found on July 21.

OIC of the Bureau Keshala Bogahawatte told media that in one instance the girl had been raped at least by 9 men and on same day she was taken to another house in the night where she was raped by more men.

After being raped for a second time, the rapists had released her, and she had then gone to a temple seeking refuge because this was the same temple her mother visits regularly. However, after she went to the temple the monk there had taken her to a room and had raped her once more. Since the incident, the monk has gone into hiding.

Not just castration s could not do much, until even more harder punishments such as executions which is being practise in some STATES of the US are introduced to lanka crime incidents. Harder fines can tame those men regardless of robed of layth.

      A Buddhist monk raping!
The deep south of Sri Lanka is CULTURALLY and MORALLY polluted and Buddhism despoiled by the corruption, criminality and disrespect for WOMEN AND MINORITIES that the Mahinda Jarapassa brothers cultivated with impunity.
Raping of girls and women are highest in these areas. Recall the gang rape and murder of a British tourist by Jarapassa’s political cronies

The hinterland of the Hambantota thugs and rapists and war criminals, Gota and Mahinda Jarapassa along with Basil (the crook who stole even the funds for poverty reduction Divineguma fund!), have distorted militarized and criminalised Buddhism.

Buddhism does not exist Bentara Ganenge eha. That is Mahinda Jarapassa and gota goon Buddhism that exists there which is not Buddhism at all.

This monk should be tried in public and the Buddhist Sangha Maha Nayakkas who have been fattening themseleves on too much food must open their mouths and use their brains to stop Buddhism rotting further in Lanka.

Castrate this Buddhist Monk. Arrest his Animal and give 100 lashes in Public.

Jarapaksha’s gave these yellow robes unlimited power to rape an innocent girl.

Great logic there. One girl gets raped in Sri Lanka so Buddhism is dead. Women have plenty of rights in Sri Lanka; they can drive a car and become the President. Meanwhile, Muslim women are beaten in Saudi or Northern Syria for showing too much “skin.” The Taliban burns girls’ schools in Afghanistan and in Pakistan there are “acid attacks.” Let us take a poll of these women (the ones who didn’t get stoned to death) and ask where would they prefer to live?

Any surprise here? This has been going on for ages! Are the boys and girls safe from the Buddhist Monks?

Please tell the truth. Say 12 Year Old Girl Child Gang Raped: Police On The Hunt For A Sinhala-Buddhist Monk.

This is one part of Sinhala Buddhism. There are other aspects of Buddhism as well.

She sent her grandson to school with the idea of providing him with proper education to make him a good person. The Buddhist monk in charge of the temple asked her to send the child to the temple and she sent him there because they were poor. There was no possibility for them to pay the money for tuition fees. That was the reason why they sent the boy to the temple school. When the child began to refuse going to the temple school so adamantly, grandmother had to look for the reason. It was then only that she discovered that the child who was sent to learn good behavior, ethics and Buddha’s Dharma from the monk had in fact been abused by the monk.

May be, but he called him Hamuduruwo (Monk), said Vaddina (sit), Vadinna (sit) and the Hamuduruwo (Monk) shot him and killed him.

This ‘Man in Robes’, was a Sinhala “Buddhist” Monk, by the name of Ven. Somarama Thero!

Have you heard about Ven. Buddharakkita Thero? You have probably heard about Ven. Ganasara Thero of BBS. They all are Sinhala “Buddhist” Monks. If you have any doubts, ask the Chief Monk of the Asgiriya, of the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.

The Jaya Mangala Gatha is a chant recommended by the Buddha to destroy negativity and to generate auspiciousness. It proclaims the 8 major victories of the Buddha which are:
                1) Victory over Mara, MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa
                2) Victory over the demon Alavaka, Sinhala “Buddhist” Monks

“Does this ‘Man in Robes’ fit the Dictionary Definition?”

The Raping Monk probably fit the definition earlier when he was under “training”, and he probably out grew it, and became a Sinhala-“Buddhist” Monk, who specializes in “treating” boys and girls, so that the “Monk” can attain Nirvanna, but still , the Monk is a Sinhala Buddhist Monk.

There are many such Sinhala-“Buddhist” Monks. Many rape and quite a few kill and encourage killings, like in 1958, 1983?, Aluthgama , SWRD etc. Go with the facts.

        I agree with Hamlet.

We should not use the despicable behaviour of individual Buddhist Monks to paint the entire Sangha with the same brush. Nor should we use the opportunity to make critical comments of Buddhism as a religion. Issues such as this which involve the Buddhist Clergy should only be of concern to the Buddhist Community. I often remind my fellow-Muslims that they should specifically be more sensitive to such issues because they are frequently called upon to defend Islam due to the words and actions of various ‘Islamic’ groups with extremist views.

As members of civilised society, we must ask ourselves as to whether we have failed the people of our country by not introducing the necessary measures to prevent such heinous crimes. We have not carried out the death penalty for 40 years, primarily due to the pressure exerted on our Governments by bleeding-heart Western Countries. Has this resulted in significant decreases in the rates of serious crimes such as murder, rape, drug-dealing and child abuse ? Can’t we at least compel the present Government to implement the death penalty for the murder and rape of children as an initial step ? How many more of our beloved children must be exposed to the possibility of murder and rape before society says ‘enough is enough’ ? Don’t our children have the right to expect society to protect them from such utterly odious and abhorrent crimes ?

        Hamlet,

It is not the “Buddha’s Sangha” It is the Lankan Sinhala version of the Sangha. Sri Lanka is one of the countries that has taken up to the Code of Conduct – founded in the soil of the Indian Sub-Continent. But, in many ways, some Lankan Buddhist monks fool themselves – and try to fool the country – they virtually own the “religion” The sad truth is they have given Buddhism a bad name and a worst face – thanks to men like Monk Gnanassara (BBS) and many others of the ilk. They have broken almost every main teaching of the Buddha and are now openly in the snake pit of politics – prohibited by Prince Siddartha. It is time the several Mahanayakas seriously get together and publicly save Lankan Buddhism from these truant Buddhists.

” Please do not call these Monsters Buddhist ‘Monks’!”

Don’t they comprise one of the three parts of the Triple Gem,

        Buddha, Dharma and Sangha?

The Three Jewels, also called the Three Treasures, Three Refuges, Precious Triad, or most commonly the Triple Gem Pali: Tiratana, Sanskrit: त्रिरत्न (triratna), are the three things that Buddhists take refuge in, and look toward for guidance, in the process known as taking refuge.

Do you mean to say that the Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks follow the Triple Gem that comprises:

        Mara, Dharma, and Sangha?

        Shouldn’t we call a Spade, a Spade?

The Sangha is answerable to the extent that it enjoys state privileges and is therefore answerable to society for misconduct of its members and also its turning a blind eye to incidents misconduct. There is a code of discipline for the Sangha. Is it put into practice?
Similar offences have been committed by Catholic clergy and the Church has covered up. When they were exposed the Church lost credibility among its followers.

I think that joining the clergy should be disallowed for children under 18 years and the rule making celibacy mandatory for priests of any gender needs reconsideration in the context of a clergy exposed to many comforts of modern life.

The situation is much worse under the Islamic law that you speak of, because women have essentially no rights. We are seeing the manifestation of this in the so-called “rape epidemics” with migrants (most of whom are Muslim) to Western Europe. These migrants have a very primitive conception of women’s rights, one which directly clashes with the Western narrative.

If this child cannot get justice for the horrible crime committed by filthy pedophiles, then it will be an indication that something is wrong with our nation, and that there is no law and order, like any democracy. This barbarian in saffron robes must be arrested and given a severe punishment, like the other barbarians who acted worse than animals. If these criminals are not dealt with, and are able to get away, it will encourage others with the same tendencies to keep committing such crimes. No one, not even criminals who hide in temples or wears saffron robes, should be exempt from the rule of law. Is the new regime unable to uphold laws and make criminals answerable?

We should feel sorry for the poor child. She will have to live with this horror for the rest of her life.
She must be given help to cope with the trauma.

If a Hindu priest were to do this, readers will bring the caste system into the discussion.

Soldiers got used to getting scot-free for rapes in the north and trying the same in the south. But one reader wrote, ‘Tamil women are so ugly, why would the hero soldiers want to rape them.” That is the mentality of some people in the country.

Rape is a rape. It is becoming serious problem in the country. Rather than defending the rapist, regardless of their faith, race, political opinion, or social status we should protest with joint hands to make the laws changed and introduce programmes to remove stigma associated with rape victims.

Sharia Law is God’s Law, which involves a whole way of life. The punishment for wrong doing is only one aspect of it, similar to criminal code of justice. The rest of the laws are based on passages of the Roman-Dutch Law. All Muslims do abide by Sharia Law in the conduct of their daily affairs. However, I would say, you are right in what you imply, the RD Law is ineffective as a deterrent to prevent repeats of such heinous crimes.

The Wahhabi sack of Karbala occurred in 21 April 1802 (1216 Hijri), under the rule of Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad the second ruler of the First Saudi State, when 12000 Wahhabis attacked the city of Karbala[1] killing above 5000 of the inhabitants and plundered the tomb of Husayn ibn Ali (grandson of Muhammad and son of Ali bin Abu Talib (the cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad)) which was destroyed.[2]

According to a Wahhabi chronicler `Uthman b. `Abdullah b. Bishr: “The Muslims” — as the Wahhabis referred to themselves, not feeling the need to distinguish themselves from other Muslims, since they did not believe them to be Muslims —

scaled the walls, entered the city … and killed the majority of its people in the markets and in their homes. [They] destroyed the dome placed over the grave of al-Husayn [and took] whatever they found inside the dome and its surroundings … the grille surrounding the tomb which was encrusted with emeralds, rubies, and other jewels … different types of property, weapons, clothing, carpets, gold, silver, precious copies of the Qur’an.”

Police are doing their duty now. (apprehending and producing the culprits before the courts). So there’s no business for us in this matter.

But for the general interest I would like to mention what I feel.

According to the report(CT) the girl sought refuge in a temple where her mother had also been a regular visitor.

Visitor for what? It’s not given clearly; whether for religious activities or other business.

Other business is possible because the man in the yellow robe can’t be a good one.
The living environment of the girl (including mother) can be imperfect.

In an environment where the elders too are imperfect how can we protect children. (not only girls but also boys).

        Native,

Sr. does have a point. Parents are primarily responsible for the young children. We don’t have much details of this incident. But in most child abuse cases, parent’s negligence is seen clearly. When children show some streak of independence or boldness, parents tend to misunderstand that their children are capable of warding of animal-like perpetrators.

Wonder why schools don’t pay attention to this problem. They can bring awareness to the children and parents. In Japan, parents should accompany their children to school for a week or more. This way, the parents teach the correct route, follow road rules and assess how long the trip takes for the child to go to school and return home. This is one way of protecting the young. Note, despite all these efforts, a lot of criminal stuff takes place in Japan.

Punishment must be harsh enough to become an effective deterrent. Those who committed these crimes must be smoked out and exposed. They should be subjected to stringent punishment in the midst of a public crowd, to shame them and make them sincerely regret what they did to this minor child. The monk who abused her when she came for help after the worst of it, must be derobed and made to face the wrath of public outcry. But I doubt this will ever happen going by past experience. He will be in hiding for sometime and eventually this whole incident will be forgotten, by which time he will escape indictment. Eventually, his involvement will simply get conveniently swept under the carpet. If on the other hand he gets arrested, there may be a group of his cohorts standing by to protect and support him vociferously, just like what happened at Gnanasara’s incarceration. These monks are a law unto themselves and they will stick together for each other. They are all in it and well aware of what goes on in Temples with young children. In fact, this kind of raping is nothing, no big deal. It is routine and an accepted norm. But just watch them as they conduct ‘anusasanas’ sermons and pirith chanting. Their appearance and demeanor akin to saints who could do no harm nor any wrong in the world. Real humbugs. Not all monks are bad, but a good many are frustrated and sex starved. There are of course well respected and honest Buddhist monks, but they are few and far between. Never get deceived and take them seriously, unless they have proven track record in sincerity of purpose.

Hamlet: You asked; “Why Mahanayakas don’t bring these criminals to justice”. Haven’t you seen these “Mahanayakas” placing the “Dathu Karanduwa” on the heads of the well known CRIMINALS of the country who robbed and still robbing the Peoples’ wealth in million and billions? All these so called “Mahanayakas” have to be classified as “Criminals” for that disgraceful behaviour in the name of a Great Leader, Gauthama Buddha. So, first start bringing to justice the “Top Brass” criminals hiding behind the teaching of this GREAT person Gauthama Buddha.

This bastard should be caught, castrated with a shaving blade slowly and after an hour put a bullet in his head. Dirty bastard, rape in any civil society should be dealt with severe and harsh punishment.

Please stick to the article. A child whether she is Sinhalese or Tamil does not matter. Rape is rape, we need to punish whoever rapes. This time it turned out to be a Buddhist monk, next time it maybe a Tamil. Please do not turn this into a race issue. My heart goes out to this small child.

Don’t drag KASmalam into this simple, trivial, day-to-dday things.

He is busy bashing Halal, Vellala Tamils, Batalanda Ranil and so on.

He is busy propping up Mahinda Samagama and his cronies.

I dare KASmalam to reveal his real identity. Even his mother would spit on his face!

…”Corrupt Bopage launches Goebbels Style Media Campaign to stop publicity for the record breaking Pada Yatra.”… says CT….

I think Bopage’s handlers have gone that extra mile to discredit the Buddhist Monks who are in the front line of the Pada Yatra.

Wonder whether this Bopage report to Batalanada Ranil or Bodhi Sira?.

heh! For KASmalam, Ranil and Bopage are worse than the rapist.

Discredit the Buddhist monks? We have BBS monks, rapist monks, mosque-bashing monks, … Hardly any monks, any buddhist organisations stood up against them.

Most members of the Buddhist clergy were recruited in childhood before they attained the age of reasoning – mens rea – and find it difficult, if not impossible, to maintain their Vow of Celibacy.
The hierarchy of the Maha Sangha should revise the recruitment procedure.
Else, such lapses will continue to occur.

Realisation of this has dawned on some sections of Christian clergy, and males are now allowed to marry.

Rape by laymen occurs in all countries.
Policemen too have committed this crime.

      justice

celibacy for monks was mentioned by lord bhuddha because he probably would have felt that a monk can’t concentrate on his duties is he is distracted by his family duties.I believe lord bhuddha was correct because i would not have been able to be a true monk when i was raising a family, but now i can and hope to be one day before i die, either a monk or a sanyasi.

you are right, child recruitment must be banned completely. Not much difference between LTTE child recruitment and monk recruitment of children, because both violate the principal of giving them the choice of their future direction once they become adults. When they are “conscripted” like this before they attain adulthood they have no choice but to continue on that path and become poor quality monks themselves.Only mature people who on their own choice only become monks are the ones who will genuinely follow lord bhuddha’s teachings.

Justice; “Most members of the Buddhist clergy were recruited in childhood…”

Don’t you know that this is done to satisfy the Paedophile, Sexual Desires of the older Clergy? … And it continues when the Children become Adults!

Whatever small asset the accused perpetrators have should be transferred to a fund in the name of this child and be used for her future. Then these persons (I don’t want to call them animals)who are being accused should be locked for life.
Hope a judge will go beyond the normal law of the country does this so these kind of heinous crimes will never occur in our country.

This is another case of Religious Lawless ness in Sri lanka thanks to Mahinda an his 10 year rule. He took Buddhism to such high pedestal that . Buddhist monks think they are above the law. e.g.. Gnanasara Rawana Balaya and so many other crooks.

Lets us see what the Prelates are saying and going to do now. If the Government and the Prelates don’t reign in these maverick Monks .. Sri Lanka”s days are numbered.

This is to Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka, you’re becoming headache for the country, you’re already a real headache for Sri Lankan Buddhists.

    What shall we do now?

You monks must identify the the culprits among you and hand over to police; to chase them away from temples, unless we’ll chase all the gang away from the country and only the hell will be there to accept you.

    Are you ready?

LTTE Kudimani repeated in the court that Singhalese not to celebrate the crime committed to Tamils because it will eventually come to your home. For the speech barbaric people removed his eyes alive inside a prison with the blessing of the Government. Now Singhalese expect Tamils to trust Singhalese and live under unity Government. Until Singhalese stop their Religion and useless monks interfere with politics , there is no future for srilankans. I am not blaming all singhalese but civilised crowd in srilanka are very small minority and most of us are barbarians . If we act properly during the barbaric forces and politicians killed JVP youngsters, we could have been not at the present pathetic situation – please wake up at least now.

kuttimani said in court that he would like to donate his eyes to someone so that he could one day see eelam through it.Highly unnecessary BS by him.So they removed his eyes.Sinhalese have a sense of humour but it goes too far here.

As for kuttimani i feel you reap what you sow one day.Kuttimani got into a taxi in jaffna to kill a tamil politician and got himself dropped near his house. Then he killed the taxi driver so that he could not be identified later by him. This driver was a tamila and a family man.Did kuttimani think was it really necessary to do such a callous act just to foolproof himself.Highly unnecessary in my opinion. It is like killing a girl you rape so that she cannot identify you.

Srilanka is not only the Asian country where corrupt Buddhist monks are involved in politics and crime. We can not just blame srilanka for the twisted version of Mahavansa, there are many Asian countries like us. West will love our stupid culture because they can be at the top for ever. You know elephant pour the sand on its head by its own trunk, so we do. Actually there are a lot of positive comments above for this article because the child is a Singhalese child but there will be no difference in the end results (justice to the child) whether Singhalese child or Tamil child. JVP boys and girls never got justice. The politicians and politicised police will eventually save the criminals. Actually it is a pass-time for the above commenters. This things will happen even after 1000 years – that is Asian culture. Singhalese never produced Sinhala Prabaharan to lead them.
